This is my favorite Speyside. Definitely flies under the radar of the masses and I hope it stays that way. It's super delicious (their creamy fruity notes are spot on), it tastes better than their older aged offerings, and it's affordable. A gem for sure!

Horst, I just bought a bottle at my grocery store for $35.99 USD. It came in a teal card box with a teal label. Very good review I enjoy your background info, and reading of the can, of course the verbiage on my card box is different. Also, liked your comments about the distillery after your visit. I got juicy strawberries, apple pears, raisins, toffee. A little more medium taste then sweet Glen livet or Fiddich. A hidden treasure, too bad the US can t get the others duff town and Ord

The teal/baby blue color is a change they made starting year 2020. Probably because so many Speyside bottles are green and they wish to differentiate. But I get strong strawberries and cream oatmeal notes myself which is why I love it and it's a good price point as well ($40 for my region).

This is the most affordable single malt available where I live that I've seen. Thanks for the review, definitely looks like it's worth a taste.

Thank you for the review, Mr. Luening. The whole lineup is cheap - locally it's $35 for 12, $50 for $15 and $75 for 18. I bought the 12 just to try. Initially wasn't impressed - seems like the e150a really overwhelms the palate somewhere half-way into the dram. But it's grown on me, I don't hate it and will soon finish the bottle (I tend to "save up" the better bottles for special occasion pours while demoting the "meh" bottles to routine duty). Where I am there are just better buys - Old Pulteney 12 is $30 and Speyburn 10 is $26 - both are 43%. Also, if you can get Glenlivet 12 for under $35 it is also a better buy than this (cheapest Glenlivet 12 I've bought was $27 at Costco). And the Singleton bottles are UGLY. I don't normally dwell on looks, but the color of the glass and the shape just repel me. Not buying again.

e150 is called caramel because of the color it gives, not because it has a taste, it's tasteless. If you think e150 changes the flavor, it's only in your head.

    Thank you for your review.
Interestingly, I have different opinion when tasting this whisky. The first thing I get on the nose is a strong almost attacking leather and I also get clear bitterness on the finish as well.
Not sure if my bottle with slightly different label is different than yours. I got this bottle in 2018.
In my humble opinion, I got:
    Nose: leather, malt, fruits
Taste: Oak, tannin, sweetness, some sort of herbs, spices
    Finish: Oak, spices, long bitterness

Hurst, which one do i buy? The singleton dufftown 12, about 16 uss or the cardhu 12 about 25uss??
Im a beginner although ive already bought and drank the 18 johnny walker platinum label, the gold reserve of jw, black label of jw, jack daniels the most common one, chivas 12 and 18. I want to begin with the big boys single malts.
