Whisky .com reviews the Glenmorangie Signet. For the Single Malt Signet was regional barley used. The filling includes rare malts. Partially were the oldest casks of the distillery used.
The nose:
Sherry, dark fruits, oak, ginger, cinnamon, cocoa, vanilla
The taste:
Oranges, oak, spicy, milk coffee
The finish:
Medium

A bottle Signet will keep you in good company......but it won't last you long if you have ONLY the Signet to keep you company. It is at the top of Glenmorangie's offerings...DESPITE it being a blend. Do NOT let that scare you....it is wonnnnderful.

Besides the Glenfarclas 25 my favorite Whisky till now. Splendid!
I have had the honor of tasting this dram. In my limited experience ( a few dozen Scotches), this is one of the best I have had. A wonderful Scotch. The oak is strong at first but it is wonderfully balanced. The presentation is also absolutely wonderful. You know this is something special just from the weight of the cork.
Being a mechanical engineer myself, I really appreciate the level of detail and history you give in your reviews and tastings.

I watched the video from Glenmorangie distillery and how they made Signet and they said that they have used some of their rarest whiskies that have been aged for 20-30 years

Got it for 165.00 USD at St. Marten while on a cruise. Here in Miami, FL. It runs around 200-225 USD. Worth it IMO to have sparingly, had mine for over a year now.
Excellent review. Subtle whiskies are much harder to describe than bold flavoured whiskies, and having all the details of production methods helps to describe it very much.
This is a great whisky.
My partner bought this for me for valentine day and I haven't opened it yet, I am going to try it once we bought a house together, can't wait.
My gorgeous wife must think i'm special Horst because she bought this whisky for me to mark our 40th wedding anniversary...still havent opened the bottle...but i have to say after watching this presentation and your response to this whisky..the unopened status of my bottle is about to change😊🥃

I have one of these. I also managed to find a 25 year old. It’s taking everything I’ve got to not open them. Hopefully there will be an occasion worthy of opening one of them soon since every Glenmorangie i’ve had has been amazing.

Heads up, this whisky improves SIGNIFICANTLY with 5~10 minutes in the glass or 6 months on a 90%full bottle. Really opens up to the chocolate and espresso notes

Wanting to try something a little different & after watching a few reviews on this unusual dram = I decided to purchase a bottle on Saturday (Not allowed to open before Christmas though)

Just returned from Iceland & noticed the Signet at £100 in the airport so just had to purchase a second bottle at that price :)
It's a great dram, but personally i prefer the 18
Query for Horst : since the cork broke , what kind of a stopper did you use to close the bottle ?
Why do scotch malt whiskies use cork stoppers ? These dry out and break and that’s really pathetic given the high prices charged for many single malts
Cork stoppers are mostly a presentation thing I think, screw caps might seem cheap to people and lower their opinion. I do like the feel of a cork though, so I don't mind it. It's also not like they don't usually work.

How is this a "single malt" when you just said it's blended with various and carries NAS. Forgive the rookie in me for not understanding
‘Single’ simply means it’s from one distillery. So as long as it’s the product of one distillery, they can take multiple casks and mix (blend) them together.

It's meant to compete with the 21 year ranges of others distilleries but with a very different NAS approach (NAS has kept me from trying it). here in Alabama 21yr Glenfiddich is $220 and the Balvenie 21yr is $230. The $210 price tag for this here in Alabama is very competitive with other distilleries 21yr.

A very nice dram but hugely overpriced. There is simply no reason for this to cost £135 a bottle. I would buy one but not a that price. Shame.

actually its one of the unique things of his videos. I was in the usa not too long back, being from rsa myself, and was at a liquor store and the very knowledgeable staff member and i had a chuckle about the mouth sounds. when u can have that effect over continents, its not agonizing, its fricken legendary !!!
