    This song is how i feel when im having a dream of my grandparents place. They raised me and my brother from the time i was 6 months old. Pa died in 1988 and granny died in July of 95. I loved that place and its still my home in my heart. 146 acres of farm land. When i get woke up from those dreams I get so mad lol

    ... Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU for not stopping the song multiple times to add your thoughts!!!!
    To get the full meaning and feeling of music I believe it needs to play through and your reaction, can be seen from your expressions.
    I wish more people doing "reaction videos" would let the music play fully before letting the audience know their, "reaction."
    Thank you.

      Paint Me A Birmingham is the sweetest thing.....when I read the comments on the video I was so moved by how people wanted to be painted back to so many different places like when they were little or before they're parents passed or they lost a friend or dropped out of school or made other mistakes. It is a beautiful song that can remind us to appreciate today.

    It reminds me of my dad. He had cancer and was ready to go . I had went I to see him the day before he died I touched him and said it's me dad he woke up to look at me then laid back down then a while later he passed. When I hear this song it reminds me of him. He looked up one last time. I can hear him say man if you would have left me alone I was almost home. I laugh a little cause that's something he would say I was almost home. Lol he was a good ol' country boy who loved the outdoors . I hope he is waiting for me and my son we would sure like to go fishing with him..

      @@VickiRN97 you know what's weird, these train wrecks weren't as common for the WWII generation . Always wondered why. Then I reflected on why that was. Then I thought back. Virtually everyone of that age was in the military, your friends, your neighbors, your co-workers. When you woke up in the middle of the night with nightmares and shakes, you could know on your neighbors door and he'd just open it. Let you in, put a pot of coffee on and talk it through with you. He got, he'd been their too. Now there ain't so many of us vets. No neighbors to talk you down and relate. The generation i feel worst for is the Vietnam vets who were spit on and called baby killer. They were the vets that came before me and it was worst.

    You are right. Tears sprang to my eyes as soon as I realised the homeless man was in a dream he never wanted to wake up from. He wanted to keep walking down the road home all the way to heaven. The man who stopped for him realized this but he HAD to try to get him somewhere safe anyway. Is it exactly the right thing to do?

  • @SilverbladeDagger
    @SilverbladeDagger 5 років тому +1

    In many ways, heaven is whatever is in your mind. You can be facing tough times, terrible times, but when you close your eyes, or go to sleep, you can drift off to your own personal heaven. The guy in the song was on the edge of death, and as they say, his life was flashing before his eyes till he was awakened by a good Samaritan. So many people are "Almost Home", some go home, but not many can see someone who needs to be woke up and offer that ride to the mission.
    I have my own little slice of heaven I like to revisit in my mind from time to time, but I'm not planning a trip "home" anytime soon.

    A month before my momma died , I heard her talking. She was 89. When I woke her this she asked me why did I wake her up, She said she was going into where there were beautiful flowers that she'd never seen before. I told her I wouldn't do it again. She died at home. If there's a heaven I know she's there.

  • @Spectrum_Country1028
    @Spectrum_Country1028 4 роки тому

    The first verse sets the scene that we find the homeless guy where he has lost his will to live. When another man wakes him up, the homeless man had become even more crestfallen, because he was pulled away from his peace. The chorus is the homeless man telling him what his interpretation of heaven was like, and if the other man didn't wake him up, he would've been there for good. The second verse has the homeless man tell him that he would've had a delicious supper with his family when he was woken up. he describes every sense that he had experienced up until he was woken up. He then repeats the description of heaven that he would've made it to. When the other man tries to help him in the real world, by bringing him to any form of sanctuary here on earth, the HM refuses and said that Heaven was the only sanctuary. As the image of this man's heaven is repeated again, it's finally cemented in the listener's mind what the HM had been wanting in what would've been his final moments on Earth, if not for the person telling this story.

    it's not about wanting someone to die. it's about the fact that sometimes people find themselves in a place where they want to die. you'll probably realize this once you get older. when the body starts failing you. when it's impossible to be cured from a wasting disease or illness. when you have no family left ,no hope to work again or the ability to take care of yourself. there are things worse than death is what it's saying.

    Ty, I think that for many (certainly not all) people, death comes to be accepted as the next step rather than as something to dread and postpone as long as possible. I know this was true of My Hero (my husband) as his cancer metastasised and spread. He wasn't afraid of death, just of having a prolonged, painful death. At the end, the last gift of love I could give him was to be the person who stood between him and all the well intentioned suggestions for prolonging his life. I was holding his hand when he died and I know he did not die in pain because I fought for him.
    I think living homeless in the US could bring a person to the same place.

    Ty, actually Kerry Reynolds who co-wrote the song said they left it open ended to let the listener interpret how you wish. I have seen it in 2 ways- the 1st being the homeless man was dreaming of a time from his childhood when things were much different and he was happy but he was awoken before he got home to see his Mom again. I also have seen it from the point of laying there in the cold and freezing to death, literally, and he was dreaming of getting home to Heaven and how beautiful it would be but now he has stopped that from happening.

    Funny how songs take you back. Craig Morgan came to Iraq in 2004. While there, he learned that a soldier had sung this song at the memorial for a fallen leader who had withdrawn his retirement paperwork to go to Iraq with the unit. The leader was killed there. I remember Craig finding the soldier and inviting him to do it as a duet. Halfway through the chorus, he handed the soldier the mic, said "you've got this," and left the room! He came back a few moments later with a video recorder and recorded the rest of the song. Guarranteed that neither the soldier nor his teammates will forget that moment! Much respect for the artist, the soldier, and those who served beside them.

    I don't honestly think many people reacting to this song truly get the full level of how sad it is. This man is dying, freezing to death, alone, behind a trash can. That is what he wants, he wants to die, and pass on in peace, leaving this world for what he believes to be the next, where he will be reunited with his dearly missed loved ones. If that man had left him alone, he would have gotten his wish.

So here I stay, until it's time to go. Leaving this earthly coil behind is truly not a frightening thing. It is merely a transition. Love this son. Always remember a homeless person had a momma and daddy. They had a normal life at one point.

    A good song with the same story as this one is “The green, green grass of home” by Elvis Presley. Porter Waggoner wrote it I believe but he seems to like Elvis on this channel lol
