Hi, Carla.... love that you wrote this, but not technically a “rock opera” even though it has an operatic part (during which Queen would walk off the stage during live presentations, BTW). A true rock opera is Tommy, or Aqualung or Quadrophenia or The Wall. (Each song is part of the whole concept of the album which in its entirety tells a story). Cheers, God bless you too, and rock on, Carla!,

One of the GREATEST songs ever!!!!! Queen (Freddie Mercury) was a game changer in the '70s, It turned all us little tiny boppers into hardcore rock fans. Freddie died way too soon, but he always said, "Who wants to live forever"!!!!!
This song is FIRE!!! It is one of those songs that when it comes on the radio or TV you just have to listen to the whole thing, sing along, and damn near break your neck jamming to the rock out part. Let's not forget that this song was remade by the incomparable Lauren Hill and the Fugees...'nuf said.
Damnnnn....this isn't a song, it's an experience. Man, Freddie is so missed. Sometimes I think of all the great music we never got to hear, but I am so honoured to listen to what we do have from Freddie and Queen. What a fantastic group of musicians. Amazing!
I can't say it enough. It makes me so happy to see young people listening to my music. So much great music was created in the 60's 70's and 80's. This is one of the greatest.
In my own mind, the song's three parts are: 1. a young poor man who takes a life and has to face justice("Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth"), 2. his struggle through the court system, facing the death sentence ("Let me go," "Beelzebub has a devil put aside, for me"), and 3. His anger and frustration inside as he is subsequently locked up in an inhumane prison system ("Just gotta get right outta here")... but your impression about Willy wonka's weird tunnel during the second part just fits in perfectly with my own impression about the song... the court systems can be an crazy ride. Tunnel to another world.
Nora Willcutt - very possible! Apparently he never told Brian, Roger and/or John, what it was about, and they claim to still be in the dark about the lyrics.
@On a pale horse, @Nora Willcutt, @Modern Renaissance Man, In a perfect sense, all music is subjective and therefore, open to one's own interpretation. However, this is where Queen was experimenting with many different styles of arrangement and this one, in particular, is on the "A Night at The Opera" album. Hence, the glam rock/operatic arrangement. While never fully revealed, I link the lyrics to a scenario of what a gang war may have been like if performed as an opera. The lyrics describe two feuding sides and a situation where a dying man calls out for his mother. His justice, in my opinion, in which he questions which he is going to meet on the other side. Will it be "Beelzebub" ie. "The devil put aside for me" and will he be trapped, (purgatory) or get lucky and get a second chance in life? "Any way the wind blows."
I'm a 57 year old Nana that was just head banging like I did when I heard the song for the first time. And I didn't hurt myself! LOL! I just discovered your channel and I've subscribed. Thanks for the memories.
As other listener said below, Freddie Mercury is probably the greatest voice in rock and roll. The opening Harmony is actually a five-part Harmony all done by Freddie Mercury. Peace love and harmony
You have just witnessed the song that year after year, decade after decade, , always voted the greatest song ever..If you havent seen any others, watch their performance at Live Aid, aka the "22 minutes that changed music forever"..
Obviously this is one of the most amazing bands ever and the guitarist Brian May is also an astrophysicist. Worked with NASA on the New Horizons Pluto mission.
Mercury actually did all the vocal harmonies in this song, using different tracks for each part. He was truly an unbelievably talented and creative musical genius.
I just discovered Freddie Mercury and this band and fell in love with Freddy immediately he's the best thing I've ever heard I can't stop watching his videos on the internet I just ordered my first queen album play a lot of Queen please
Rltkktlr . I appreciate that too. Some reviewers stop a song two and three times or more and talk about irrelevant things. They are obviously not listening and receiving the full meaning of the lyrics or enjoying the spirituality of the vibe. I don’t watch them anymore. I’m 72 and grew up with and danced like crazy during the disco era and beyond. I love watching this younger generation discover the music that I loved. Love to watch their faces.
Queen, one of my all-time favorite bands, introduced us all to the genre 'rock opera'. They were all so talented. I cried all day long when I heard Freddie Mercury had died. I still love Brian May's guitar work. NO ONE sounds like Brian on the guitar.
Oh man, if you are new to Queen you have SOOOOOOO much to watch. Freddie Mercury is highly regarded as one of the best if not THE best vocalist in rock history. They were known as being one of the top live bands of all time and had so many wonderful hits (many of which you've probably heard even if you didn't know it was Queen). Also there's an upcoming movie about Queen called Bohemian Rhapsody (you should do a video of you reacting to the trailer). It comes out in Nov, can't wait to see it. Some of their biggest songs you've probably heard many of them: We Will Rock You We Are the Champions Another one Bites the Dust Somebody to Love Under Pressure (David Bowie did the vocals along with Freddie on this, very memorable beat that was "stolen" by Vanilla Ice for his hit, Ice Ice Baby). Radio Ga Ga Crazy Little Thing Called Love Can't Stop me Now Killer Queen Fat Bottomed Girls You should give some of their live shows a listen to, Live Aid, Live at Wembley, some great live performances that show off how amazing they sounded live.
Freddie's incredible 4 octave range wasn't his only vocal feature that made him possibly THE GOAT when it comes to vocalizations. Science has proven that physically speaking, his voicebox modulated and recovered faster than the average voicebox. Also ! That incredibly fantastic 5 part harmony beginning sequence is ALL Freddie ! The thing about our generation and genius -- we are so fortunate to have experienced and witnessed so much of it that we sometimes don't realize just how brilliant a star is until it has faded from view. (This was meant as a rock opera. Queen was brilliant !) Namaste
Minor correction. "Don't Stop Me Now." Live Aid is 24 minutes where you and the arena forget 20* other bands also played before and after. U2 actually came close to stealing the whole crowd as well. I haven't seen it in at least a decade but I remember Queen in Rio being amazing, but every live show in Rio turns out amazing. (See the crowd sing an instrumental in Rush "YYZ" Live in Rio.)
Freddie Mercury ( Queen) is timeless! He is a legend and was so talented. They have had so many great songs and Bohemian Rhapsody is a masterpiece. Check out Those were the days of our lives by Queen. We lost him way too soon. Freddie will live on forever in our hearts! God Bless you Freddie.
Queen is definitely one of the greatest groups ever and there will never ever be another person who can sing like Freddie Mercury he is one of the greatest if not the greatest singers of all time the man had such a range all the way up high all the way down low he could do it all.
Queen was one of the earliest glam rock bands who saw little success in America until 1974's "Killer Queen"! No one, especially in 1975, ever heard a rock/opera epic quite like "Bohemian Rhapsody"! These four unique individuals, led by the incomprehensible Freddy Mercury, were not only musical geniuses, but also possessed extraordinary talents in graphic arts, engineering, and so on! What set Queen apart from everyone else is that they never let theatrics override their music! And (humorously) throughout the bulk of their first half dozen or so recordings, they always pointed out, in print, on their albums that "no synthesizers were used". They were one-of-a-kind and the music industry will never again see anything even close to Queen!
Yes I was just stating that and the lyrics Freddy sings Beelzebub has a devil aside put aside for me, I believe the song is about a battle for his soul but I could be wrong

This band deserves to be heard today. If they come to my area this year, I will go see them. Yes, Adam , nor anyone could ever replace Freddie, but Adam is capable, and the songs deserve a place in todays world. Cheers to Queen for keeping the music alive.

Hello, and greetings from merry olde England. I have just discovered your UA-cam channel, and have now subscribed to it. I am much older than you, and I can say that I have lived through the 60s, 70s et al, and know all the music you are assessing. It's so good to see your initial reactions to these older songs. Love your comments so much. Thank you!
Bohemian Rhapsody is a rock/Italian/opera song. Freddie Mercury studied music at a boarding school in India, then studied at Londons Ealing College of Art. He died at age 45 of complications of AIDS. Brian May is an astrophysicist and was rated 2nd greatest guitarist in Guitar World Magazine. He built his guitar and named it the "Red Special".
The choir effect was created by having May, Mercury, and Taylor repeatedly sing their vocal parts, resulting in 180 separate overdubs. These overdubs were then combined into successive submixes.
This song is legendary because when it first came out it was just so weird and original. It was recorded in five studios with Mercury and Taylor singing over and over again for days on end. The opening part and the crazy operatic section were impossible to perform live because the first is Mercury singing with himself doing the harmonies and the second is an insane amount of recordings over the top of each other. Even for Queen who were probably the best live band ever doing it live was impossible so they settled on a formula of missing out the first part, doing the next part, walking off stage for the operatic part while the record played and performing the last two parts. They never even tried faking it.
I’m a 19 year old and I have always had love for real music, classic music from the 60s all the way to the 80s, bohemian rhapsody is my favorite song, second is Space Oddity by David Bowie, but I know for sure I will play this kind of music to my kids, my grand kids and my great grand kids, I want everyone in my generation to listen to these masterpieces. Because in today’s era most music is trash, it’s just an industry to make money, not like in the old days we’re music was your soul, it drained your talent, and it will always live.
this is called true musical genius, all written by lead singer, Freddie Mercury, one of the greatest vocalist in the modern rock era.....amazing lyrics, amazingly put together, the incredible guitar work of Brian May.....this is what music is supposed to be about....actual skill sets that work together, not that garbage pre packaged junk that passes for music today...you can check out tons of the golden era of the 60's and 70's, .....

No one is ready for Queen, and that’s what makes us appreciate the genius of queen. Freddy Mercury is amazing.
Was.
Kristin Ainsworth You said it!
Nicely put..
Top 5 DOA male vocals
Kristin Ainsworth yay i was the 100th like. I should get a prize☺
They didn't want to do this song at first, but Mercury pushed through. Genius.
One of the GREATEST songs ever!!!!! Queen (Freddie Mercury) was a game changer in the '70s, It turned all us little tiny boppers into hardcore rock fans. Freddie died way too soon, but he always said, "Who wants to live forever"!!!!!
It has been said by many experts that Freddie Mercury is of the greatest vocalist of all time. His range is insane. Such a classic!
Kim Bryant not to mention his ability to compose.
It was his 4 extra teeth. Honestly, it opened up his palate and this just gave him so much more room to express the sounds.
@@rogerruelas8206 not to mention his onstage presence......
Scientific evidence says there’s no voice like Freddie’s❤️
Every time I hear that song, all I can think off is the movie Wayne's world in his car
One of my favorite songs! Freddie was one of a kind. Loved Queen!
I love it when you scratch the back of your head when you get excited.... 😄😉👍.. Keep listening, babe. Music is everything! Queen too!!! ☝💖
I love watching people’s reactions to the transitions. It’s beautiful to witness the surprise.
Panic! at the Disco does a great version, too.
The most beautiful, best Queen song. I heard it for the first time on Radio Luxembourg in 1975 and I fell in love.
Damnnnn....this isn't a song, it's an experience. Man, Freddie is so missed. Sometimes I think of all the great music we never got to hear, but I am so honoured to listen to what we do have from Freddie and Queen. What a fantastic group of musicians. Amazing!
Wasn't expecting that were ya? That's the power of Queen! Same effect with " Innuendo"
I can't say it enough. It makes me so happy to see young people listening to my music. So much great music was created in the 60's 70's and 80's. This is one of the greatest.
The Brilliance of Freddie Mercury song writing is this song. Genius ! RIP Freddie
his reaction to the operatic section is awesome 😂😂
Freddie Mercury was the greatest singer this world has ever known. Queen will forever be one of my favorite bands!
"Strangely fun." is a fabulous reaction! My favorite band. Thank you!
"That was strangely fun!" That is the BEST way I have ever heard this song described!
You have to listen to more of queen to understand their music freddie mercury will never be forgotten rest in peace luv you freddie
Best vocalist ever rest in heaven Freddie
Angela Carpenter gay people don’t go to “heaven”
He sings to the angels.
Pat L - his last few years seemed to be full of regret for his decadent years. Only God knows. Love the sinner, hate the sin.

And who appointed you judge, jury and executioner? Tell me, where did he go? Then we can duke it out in the comment section.
Maybe not the best one ever but the best one of the second half of the 20th century.
I so enjoyed watching you experience the roller coaster ride that is Bohemian Rhapsody!
Freddie Mercury was a talent that comes along probably every 500 years.
Thank you! And thank you for speaking Truth on your channel. You are a breath of fresh air here on UA-cam!
amazing x
Lol me too
Best Nana
59'er here!!! Such a Thrill to see young ones "Gettin' it"!!!
As other listener said below, Freddie Mercury is probably the greatest voice in rock and roll. The opening Harmony is actually a five-part Harmony all done by Freddie Mercury. Peace love and harmony
One of the best songs ever written!
You have just witnessed the song that year after year, decade after decade, , always voted the greatest song ever..If you havent seen any others, watch their performance at Live Aid, aka the "22 minutes that changed music forever"..
Yes!!
This was definitely your most entertaining reaction yet. Your facial expressions were great
I don't know. did you see Justin TImberlake and Chris Stapleton "drink you away" that was top notch for me
Obviously this is one of the most amazing bands ever and the guitarist Brian May is also an astrophysicist. Worked with NASA on the New Horizons Pluto mission.
I will have to say, this band was incredible. The guitar player's were phenomenal. Freddie had a vocal range that is still today unmatched.
One you really want to check out is live at Wembley and kind of magic two great albums
Love that you pay total attention, some miss so much by lack of attention!! Thank you!! You got me.
One of the greatest male vocalist ever ! Rip Freddie Mercury
Some of their biggest songs you've probably heard many of them:
We Will Rock You
We Are the Champions
Another one Bites the Dust
Somebody to Love
Under Pressure (David Bowie did the vocals along with Freddie on this, very memorable beat that was "stolen" by Vanilla Ice for his hit, Ice Ice Baby).
Radio Ga Ga
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Can't Stop me Now
Killer Queen
Fat Bottomed Girls
You should give some of their live shows a listen to, Live Aid, Live at Wembley, some great live performances that show off how amazing they sounded live.
Queen was brilliant !)
Namaste
Minor correction. "Don't Stop Me Now." Live Aid is 24 minutes where you and the arena forget 20* other bands also played before and after. U2 actually came close to stealing the whole crowd as well.
I haven't seen it in at least a decade but I remember Queen in Rio being amazing, but every live show in Rio turns out amazing. (See the crowd sing an instrumental in Rush "YYZ" Live in Rio.)
You missed out 'hammer to fall'
You belived he hasnt heard this before? lolol
gyloir You said it all !!!! 👍to me Freddie Mercury his voice there isn’t anyone that will ever sing so brilliantly again he was so multi talented
Awe I loved what you said about sleep🙏 thank you.
Bohemian rhapsody is still the most legendary song even 40 yeas later now because it contains everything and nothing like it exists...
Thomas Koch he must c u m drunk what's sad is you probably really believe that
That is really rude. Freddie is a great singer, and you can't deny that.
The Walkers Edge oh yeah he's one of the greatest singers ever one of the greatest worst singers ever
He's one of the greatest worst singers ever
Thomas Koch you must be hiding under a rock or have lousy taste in music and singing exposure would be a plus in your case
One of the best male, vocalist of all time.
THE BEST VOCALIST OF ALL TIME
Queen was one of the earliest glam rock bands who saw little success in America until 1974's "Killer Queen"!
I can still sing this whole song by heart...like, no prompting at karaoke by heart. I'm choosing to be proud of that fact.
this is whats called a rock opera young man.
Yes I was just stating that and the lyrics Freddy sings Beelzebub has a devil aside put aside for me, I believe the song is about a battle for his soul but I could be wrong
Ty, thank you for letting me share your experience with you. One of my great joys in life is watching people experience Queen and the awesomeness of Freddie Mercury for the first time. You should really start digging deeper into their catalog. You won't be disappointed. Best video yet my friend.
I agree! I so enjoy watching people react to Queen.
The Show Must Go On is also a must
This band deserves to be heard today. If they come to my area this year, I will go see them. Yes, Adam , nor anyone could ever replace Freddie, but Adam is capable, and the songs deserve a place in todays world. Cheers to Queen for keeping the music alive.
The great Freddie Mercury and Queen...What a musical genius he was..
Freddy Mercury and Queen. Are legends. Their music will stand the test of time. Listen to some of their others.
Great video Thanks
This one song has like for songs in it. I read somewhere that Freddie Mercury was voted Best Male Vocalist of All Time. I love Queen. Every member is and will always be incredible!! 💖. RIP Freddie. 🌷
Scotty Mack Separate the art from the artist. You cannot deny this is good
William Morrison I absolutely deny is good it's horrible this is worse than rap actually it's the same rap music is rap music same as Queen the music rapes my ears
linZy AZ four and five hits in one that's absurd and impossible he was voted number one vocals of all time by who the homosexuals in San Francisco the members of the band where average-at-best
I like them but Best male Vocalist of all time? I'm surprised. What year was that?
Ruben 1991 or the entire second side of Abbey Road
Every member of Queen was brilliant in every way. So loved ❤️
I loved your reaction. I was 18 years old in London when queen had this hit which was number one on the charts for 9 weeks we were blown away too. We love Freddie Mercury and Queen. I suggest you listen to somebody to love which is another amazing masterpiece by Queen ❤️
That was cute...😄 Every time you got excited you scratch your head.
I agree, Queen never needed to fake anything!
The video cost £4500 apparently 🤣🤣
@@josesalas430 Another band you should try is Magnum. The earlier stuff like Wings of Heaven, Storytellers Night and Vigilante are the best.
Sally Philpin thanks , I’m checking it out right now
this is called true musical genius, all written by lead singer, Freddie Mercury, one of the greatest vocalist in the modern rock era.....amazing lyrics, amazingly put together, the incredible guitar work of Brian May.....this is what music is supposed to be about....actual skill sets that work together, not that garbage pre packaged junk that passes for music today...you can check out tons of the golden era of the 60's and 70's, .....
nothing better then someone seeing Queen Bohemian Rhapsody for the first time. Freddie was a god in music!
This is one of the top 5 best song ever in the world. Simply said!
I LOVE that fact that you don't talk over the music and you don't interrupt it either.
Out of all "first reaction" DJ's Modern Renaissance Man is by far the most enjoyable.
It is all the Memories, the ones who were born in this time frame. Born 1965
One of their best song! I do like this band and Freddie Mercury's voice is haunting!
Watch the live aid performance. It was literally, absolutely earth shaking. Queen, live aid.
Scott Maranto absolutely! There will never be another Freddie or amazing live performance like Live Aid when Queen took the stage. Absolutely incredible.

soul4music79 - yes, they OWNED Live Aid!
That was the best reaction to any song...ever. Loved it.
Absolutely agree
One of the best songs in history!
One of the greatest epic songs ever written, Freddie a genius
When you touch the top of your head, it's like a "tell" in poker. It always tells me you're holding aces. :)

You are one of the only reactors I've seen that doesn't pause the video indecently just to talk about what just happened. Glad you were able to fully experience the awesomeness of Freddie for the first time.
Nearly 50 years later, I still love this song.
