@C Murray all you have to do is hit the arrows in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen and it'll blow up to full screen.. if you are using the app it will not work right... so you have to use a web browser cause for some reason the app don’t get rid of the ads when you blow up the screen so use the web browser and the ads will go away when you blow up the screen....
I recently bought a 22" inexpensive 1080p tv to use as a monitor for my wifi security cameras. Then got the firestick so I could download the camera app. Welllll... I am having too much fun watching movies now! 👍🎄 Happy Holidays!
One thing I do not like on the firestick for channels like Pluto TV is the guide. It does not have a very good guide and makes finding what you want harder. With the Roku it has an easier guide where you can click to the left and go to Movies or where ever else you want to be. I enjoy the firestick but just wish that they made these guides easier to find what you want to watch.

I ran into so many problems with your suggestions. Crackle doesn’t seem to have much in the way of programming but I will have to dig deeper. I have so many problems with my fire stick already. I have an extender which seems to somehow get kicked off when I’m doing something with the fire stick. I think it happened after I downloaded the express vpn. Plus it’s telling me it’s a 7 day trial. I realize I’m dealing with 2 different operating systems which can be challenging. Pluto I’ve been using and I love it. PBS in my area requires a membership for passport to view the content I’m interested in. I was getting ready to do away with cable but I spend as much time without tv as I do with. I will still check out your options because even if I hit one home run it’s worth some of the trouble.
Your video IMO was very good but do I assume that this Amazon product does NOT also project/mirror a laptop/desktop to a TV or does it? I'm old and old school and until I get a much smarter TV with all this streaming etc. stuff built in, all I really want to do for now is to throw up onto my big screen TV free mostly old UA-cam movies and old music videos or even old TV shows (the Honeymooners) that I watch or have saved as favorites over many years on my laptop. I am not into gaming or even into streaming for now at least but cannot seem to set up Google Chromecast because my ancient iphone is too old with a too old operating system to do the Google Home app download and set up they require. Maybe Roku's products will work for me or I will just stay with my dependable hard wired HDMI long cable between my older but recently ethernet connected and partly smart big screen TV and my living room laptop and save the money and hassle of all these wireless devices. If there is a good wireless device like Chromecast but which can be setup without a newer or any smartphone at all or any app on a smartphone and will be able to just do the wireless mirroring of my laptop to my TV, then someone kindly let me know. Sorry for the long post but I suspect I might be a rare breed as I have no family and rarely ever use my old iphone as a phone (I use my landline phones) or for apps but merely use the old iphone as a bedside internet source beyond my living room laptop to check my email plus websites for news or sports or the stock markets overnight. My life in retirement is thus...peaceful as I am not a slave to a smartphone!

Ultimately, what you're paying for with the cable vultures of the world, is consolidation, ease of use, and the two other factors many people can't get past - local channels and first run major network stuff. Those 2 can generally be worked around if you put in the research and effort, but too many people whine if they have to deal with more than one screen, one remote, etc. THAT'S what I'm dealing with, with family that is too lazy, and wants it too easy....and they KNOW we're flushing cash down the cable company commode, each month......aarrrrgh.

Well... Kanopy is not really "free-free" one. Yes, you don't have to pay anything. But! It gave you access to limited (based on your location) # of movies to watch per month. NY and Brooklyn use to give 10 a month, now 0 'cos program was closed. NJ - based on location - 4-6 movies per month. PA 3-4. Keep in mind that not every location with library will work. You may need to open account (online) with another library who provides this service. So yes, it's "free". Question is - do you want to install app on your fire tv to be able to watch 48 movies a year only. Tho Kanopy's library are great, especially for people who enjoying mid century EU cinematography. I would like to pay some monthly fees to be able to watch as many as I want, or pay $2 per movie (that's what library pays to let you watch it) and again watch as many as I want. But it seems there is no option to do it :(

Holding the pause play button which I think is what he calls the home button does nothing. The UA-cam app says to sign into to but how? It says the UA-cam app will be removed soon? Sony Crackle and Pluto TV worked. Pluto TV is the best app. Found the NASA app but when I tried to download it said failed.
I have used Kanopy for a long time and was delighted to see there is an app for it on Fire. It doesn't work, however or at least doesn't work on my Fire Device or perhaps it's my TV. Very disappointing. Fortunately it does work with Chromecast.

@@LeelightsOahu you go under the settings and set your area. It goes by time zone. If that doesn't work then if you have a firestick you can download Local Now Plus. It's already qued you just download it. Then just change the location. It's default is san Diego. Let me know how it works for you.

Roku tv has more apps that are free then fire tv, and are great. Cannot find any retro apps on fire tv. We like old classic tv shows, and fire tv dosen't have any. Most apps you have to pay for on fire. Disappointed.

Now for the question. We have Fire Sticks rather than TV’s, and wondered if you could compare and contrast. Because, for instance, I can only get the Kanopy app on a device, not the sticks. There are actually better apps for local news channels. NewsOn is pretty limited in the stations they have.
