I have Roku sticks, a Roku Ultra, and a Roku tv. The Roku tv came with a remote that didn't have voice or a headphone jack. I bought one that can be recharged which works. The other thing is the Roku tv doesn't work the same as the stick or Ultra on some apps, specifically the Plex app. But like you said, I can switch the HDMI ports with one remote control.
Really don't care for their remote, especially for live tv, you have to page through channels rather than be able to punch in the channel numbers and go directly to your choice.
I am looking to cut the chord soon, this video has been outstanding in explaining the whole Roku thing. I seems a lot better than fire stick. Your tip about downloading DVD s etc to plex would mean my wife could watch all her films again. A video on how to do that would be greatly appreciated. Tubi channel is great if you hate commercials, and it does have a lot of shows and movies that others don't. There is also a classic category, which I love because I'm a big fan of old films. As for commercials, there is usually one at the start of the feature then 1-2 once or twice throughout. They are very short. Less than 30 sec. Is there a way to watch history channel with roku but no cable provider? I have the channel but to watch history channel they ask you to sign in with your cable provider.
Hi. I have a Roku fire stick but am unable to watch most of the stuff (even free) as I don’t live in the US. Is there any way I can watch at least the free stuff.

I now cast more and more due to Roku app force feeding way to many commericials. Also, keep an eye out for special sales like on Black Friday specials for Paramount, HBO, Starz, etc. Got Peacock for 99 cents a month for a year. I got Starz for 6 mo for $1.99 a mo. AppleTV has a 3 mo special now. I can watch whatever shows I want, then cancel. Just keep track of when you need to cancel and turn off auto-renew. I didn't think I could live without the DVR but the shows I want to watch are usually available when *I* want to watch them. DirecTv yr cost- $1620, Roku subs yr cost-

Haystack news! I get my local PLUS my daughter's local (im in Albuquerque my daughters live in South Carolina) and my sons who lives in Houston Texas 😅
Roku was my first streaming experience until they decided to remove numerous streaming apps that were installed and were my most favorite. That's when I migrated to FireStick. However, every time they upgraded their firmware, I had to make numerous tweaks to get the system working the way I originaly modified it. I finally tapped out and purchased an NVIDIA Shield Pro. Now I truly feel the cord has been cut from all corporate influence. I'm no longer treated like a child. I can watch what I want and my apps and system aren't constantly screwed with.
I am an Old Rock music Concerts freek . Which apps could let me watch Old / New broadcasted concerts from bands like Who, Kinks, U2, Simon & Garfunkel, ... Thank You
Awesome video....just subbed👍 Do you know how to set up a favorite list on Tubi with live channels like I am able to on Pluto? I sent them an email and they have not responded back...you can do this with movies not live tv. I don't want to have to scroll up and down the entire guide for the 6-8 channels I watch everytime. Thanks in advance for the response.
Wow, Dude this was excellent. I've just begun researching ways to cut my cable. I have been with Comcast over 10 years. They just increased my bill to $224.00 per month. I have TV, internet and phone. Time to cut the cable cord. I purchased a roku express. I have been trying to learn how to use it and thanks to your review I am well on my way. BTW, can you recommend a live TV antenna for my local news channels and a way to record tv shows now that I won't have the DVR from comcast? Thanks.
One thing that drives me crazy is why the local channels can’t be streamed live without an antenna. Sometimes you can, most things like award shows CMA, Emmy’s, etc. are delayed a day. What is up with that?
Awesome video thanks for sharing. I just purchased my first smart tv. It's a Roku tv. How do I get prime-time movies from ABC & NBC for free? Also, how do I download these apps to my TV? I can not find Amazon Prime either. How do I find Amazon Prime? Thumbs up to your videos. Thank you.
Great list of apps 🙂. Choosing which Roku player to get is just as tricky imo. I ended up with the 4k Roku Ultra. It has a USB 3.0 port on the back, which allows me to play local media on my USB C monitor from my flash drive, and it's the only one that has a case for it to. So I can literally just stick it to the back of my portable monitor, and carry it with me wherever I go. It's basically like having a TV you can throw in a bookbag and take with you where you go lol.
I have two previous Roku models, I would upgrade to this if I need a replacement down the line. The only thing I would benefit from at this point is "A rechargeable remote" and "Remote locate" Private listening I don't need. My conventional battery remote eats new batteries every two weeks, consequently I recommend using rechargeable batteries if you don't need the ULTRA.
I spent the pandemic year ripping my extensive DVD collection to disk; I now have about 7 TB of movies and TV shows available - and I haven't fired up my DVD player in almost three years. If you do this - by default you get a yellow 'folder' icon for directories and a blue 'file' icon for the video (titles are shown for both). If there is an image (jpg, gif, or png) called 'folder' in the directory, it displays in place of the yellow 'folder' icon. Images with the same name as the video will display in place of the blue 'file' icon. For example, goldfinger.png will display as the icon for goldfinger.mp4.
The only thing I hate about youtube is the amount of ads it's sometimes a lot for a video. Otherwise it's useable but I'm a tech guy so I just used revanced
I really don't want anything from ROKU! I don't understand how they can remove your apps without your permission! They took my RUMBLE app off both tvs and when I tried to re install it they don't let me! Why is everyone trying to control us!
Weird. I have the Rumble app on my Roku and always have. It's one of my most watched channels. No channels have ever been removed from my line-up and I was an early adopter of Roku since it was computer based (over 20 yrs) . Do you live in the US? Maybe you should do a factory reset, make sure you're running the latest firmware version and start over.
Ok, this whole TV streaming is still confusing to me. I would love to get ABC, NBC and CBS like when I was a kid. Where do I go to get these free??? Yes I'm 65 and confused. I live in the country and don't have the best internet. Which Roku is the best?

Also, keep an eye out for special sales like on Black Friday specials for Paramount, HBO, Starz, etc. Got Peacock for 99 cents a month for a year. I got Starz for 6 mo for $1.99 a mo. AppleTV has a 3 mo special now. I can watch whatever shows I want, then cancel. Just keep track of when you need to cancel and turn off auto-renew. I didn't think I could live without the DVR but the shows I want to watch are usually available when *I* want to watch them.
DirecTv yr cost- $1620,
Roku subs yr cost-
Ok,so I’m blown away from this awsome bit of info you served up here for us.thank you soooo much.I’ve had Roku tv for about 3 years and I never ever even knew I had live tv on it,wow I’m totally blown away,so new subscriber and loved this video, for sure
Just found you ... thanks for the tips. My Roku has been a mystery, and friends have had to tutor me. Your info was excellent ... will check out your other vids.
Oh boy are we getting some great information! I am surely going to relearn my roku tv and using it better , thanks so much!
"Trust me,ROKU isn't as great as they want you to think, for one you miss out on some of the top sporting events,if you want all the major networks, you'll have to have a bunch of different names services,it's more recorded, and re-run shows, and movies than anything...everything's too expensive, but ya still might want to stick with cablevision! ( Although ALL these services run off the internet,soooo...)
So appreciate your Roku knowledge! I'll be back for more as I continue along with my Roku TV.
To save shows on freevee do you have to be an Amazon customer? I have tried saving but am having problems.
Haystack news! I get my local PLUS my daughter's local (im in Albuquerque my daughters live in South Carolina) and my sons who lives in Houston Texas 😅
Can't seem to find how to watch Peacock for free - I can only access the two paid tiers. Perhaps this changed since this video was made.
How much of these apps will work if you don't have cable, and wifi? If all you have is an antenna?
Thank you. Do I need to be paying anything?
I can't find anything of what you mentioned on ROKU in Australia, only PLEX and TUBI.
These are fantastic tips!
Yeah I have been thinking the same thing.
Thanks.
This is a great review that I really needed to expand the possibilities which I don’t need to pay for. Thanks!
I'm new to streaminng and would like to know where to to find the TODAY SHOW AT 7 am Monday thru Friday , thank you
We have Roku and will be checking out more free!
I'm new to Roku. Is there a way to watch on your android phone?
Glad to see you’re still here! I like the new format. Thanks for the information.
One thing that drives me crazy is why the local channels can’t be streamed live without an antenna. Sometimes you can, most things like award shows CMA, Emmy’s, etc. are delayed a day. What is up with that?
Wait till you want to watch a sporting event. Everything is pay to view.
Thank you.
Can add an antenna to access for free or subscribe to a paid streaming service.
If I get UA-cam tv is there an app to download it to Roku to watch it easier?
Hi if i have 3 rokku in the house!! Do i have to pay neffix for 3 rokku?
Great list of apps 🙂. Choosing which Roku player to get is just as tricky imo. I ended up with the 4k Roku Ultra. It has a USB 3.0 port on the back, which allows me to play local media on my USB C monitor from my flash drive, and it's the only one that has a case for it to. So I can literally just stick it to the back of my portable monitor, and carry it with me wherever I go. It's basically like having a TV you can throw in a bookbag and take with you where you go lol.
Just ordered my roku, haven't received it yet but looking forward to it!

This was fantastic information,thankyou!
Thank you.Just got a Roku and kinda not quite ready to deal with it yet.
Been to Tubi & Pluto a few times on my TCL ROKU TV , but that was an interesting way of looking at All the free apps!1😂😂
The only thing I hate about youtube is the amount of ads it's sometimes a lot for a video. Otherwise it's useable but I'm a tech guy so I just used revanced
What's revanced?
I really don't want anything from ROKU! I don't understand how they can remove your apps without your permission! They took my RUMBLE app off both tvs and when I tried to re install it they don't let me! Why is everyone trying to control us!
Weird. I have the Rumble app on my Roku and always have. It's one of my most watched channels. No channels have ever been removed from my line-up and I was an early adopter of Roku since it was computer based (over 20 yrs) . Do you live in the US? Maybe you should do a factory reset, make sure you're running the latest firmware version and start over.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I am new to Roku and your video was very helpful.
Ok, this whole TV streaming is still confusing to me. I would love to get ABC, NBC and CBS like when I was a kid. Where do I go to get these free??? Yes I'm 65 and confused. I live in the country and don't have the best internet. Which Roku is the best?
What's the best app for watching old 60's and 70's TV shows and movies?
Tubi and freevee have lots of old shows like Carol Burnett, Leave it to Beaver, Mannix, Cannon, etc.
Hello, I can't seem to find how to start watching an app when I trun on my Sharp TV. Thanks
Thanks for the information 👍 very helpful

Thanks for that info it was very helpful 😊
Is there a way around DirecTV holding me hostage with Access Sports channels (Lakers & Dodgers)?
I miss MOBDRO, anyway to get MOBDRO?
Love this info. Thanks so much
I just bought a new roku and I'm having problems with my screen coming on. I've followed directions and reset my roku yet nothing.
Lots of stuff, but I want to use TOR and VPNs on my Roku device. What I want to see isn't meant for mass consumption.
You forgot the OG Crackle! Lol I only bring them up because I remember it before any of the other free ones came out.
Gosh, Crackle has been around since you had to download apps and load them to your Roku box.😂😂
I'm going to search for it too.
Vudu has a decent free section.
