You make the jumping and catching the ball at its highest point look so easy! It took me half an hour to even start catching the ball properly xD I don't train at a club, but just play for fun on a school playground. It must have looked pretty weird seeing a girl consistently throw up a ball and then jumping while failing to catch it. It did really help to hammer in the footwork and arm swing!
After about 50 min, I started trying to hit the jump serve, but eventhough I began my first step when I threw up the ball, I kept being late, hitting the ball with my wrist and such. Do you have any more tips on timing the throw and jump?

My state isn’t sponsored for boys volleyball so I have to practice on my own and I have very short arms and legs for the sport, but after watching this video and practicing for a year, I learned to do a perfect jump serve! Once again thank you so much

I am in grade 6 and last year i didnt even know this serve existed. Now im trying to learn this serve but its very difficult, and you usually dont learn or do jump serves ingame if you arent in highschool. In middle school people usually do an overhand serve or an underhand serve, but i want to try and do a jump serve because i want to be able to impress everyone :D.

The hardest part of the jump serve (imo) is the toss. The toss is the most important part of the jump serve because it's basically a set-up for your approach. So you need the right toss for that power.

I honestly feel like is not worth my time practicing but I end up doing it to see the process. So please Coach Donny for the love of good things in this world. Make a video about “Jump serve mistakes you should avoid” cause once is quarantine is over I wanna make it to the high school volleyball team.

Have you improved yet? I really hope you did! I wanna make it to the school volleyball team to. I’ve been practicing for at least a year now (I was in the 8th grade) my Servers always went side ways and all of that. Make sure your hand when you hit it it hits on the middle of the ball inside of the side. Also, if your playing outside, don’t play when it’s windy. That might cause your ball to go sideways. Also, try running outside for at least 15 minutes to increase stamina! And, I actually made the school volleyball team! The couch said was always telling me how good my served where n’ stuff. It may take awhile to improve. But, I’m sure you can get it. Practice makes perfect. I really hope you didn’t give up! :)

Don't stop practising! I've been training and playing volleyball for about 7 months and only on this last month i finally started getting some good consistent jump serves, now it actually feels much easier than before which felt impossible. A good tip i can give is, if you play/train with kneepads, don't use them for a couple trainings and you could actually feel much lighter and jump better.

    1. Toss the ball high enough and forward enough for you to hit it properly.
    2. Bring arms down then jump as soon as you’re about to hit it.
    3. Open up to the ball to drive more power into it

But if I were to spike a serve, I needed to jump and it’s worked out 50-50. Right now I’m learning to do jump serve and I’ve always been doing high tosses with gives me no progress. Any tips of how I can practice on throwing low tosses so I can get it over and have good control?

Either what Angelica over me said OR you are "stomping" your foot onto the floor too strong. That can shake your body and produce back pain. Next time, try checking how your body feels the moment your "Jumping foot" hits the ground. If it feels uncomfortable, try getting a mor fluent movement into your run up and bend your knees a bit more, which should get some weight out of your back
