Beautiful place Bollington! Another business I used to deliver to Slater Harrison who were in one of those Mills you mentioned. I'd just stare at that building for ages in wonder of how amazing it actually was.

I know the countryside that you are in so well. A bit of trivia - the last time that I was there walking, Martin Clunes came down from the Cloud on his bike. We smiled at him and said "Good morning", the miserable sod didn't recognise us at all.

The Maccy was our second-ever canal. We pulled up by Adelphi Mill to find the Candy Boat moored there. The kids were in heaven when they found out there were floating sweet shops :)

When we passed the mill at Bollington, at the beginning of July, there was a towpath market on. Unfortunately there were no moorings left when we passed by as it was very busy. There was a small boat giving rides between the two locations of the market. It was a squeeze to get past in the boat.

Oh Fran, I loved seeing you taking over half the boat with your fiber-y creative explosion ❤️ This is how artists create - we need to spread out our wings and take up every available inch. My husband jokes that we live in a one bedroom, 3-1/2 art room home. And I’ve sneakily also taken up a sliver of the kitchen for my painting (though not so sneaky when he is tripping over piles of stacked watercolor paper when trying to get a cup of tea). Your weavings are so beautiful. In another incarnation I used to weave on sticks that I’d foraged and fashioned into triangular frames. It just never ends - the desire to create something. ❤️

Wow,weaving on sticks sounds great. Just the sort of thing I love, I'll have to try that.

I’ve watched 65 of your videos in about 4 days so keep them coming . I’m around a year away from purchasing my own boat (a yogurt pot so don’t hate lol) Much like Richard I had a boating childhood now at 49 I want it as a lifestyle. Currently living the van life but the search is on and your videos are adding to my enthusiasm to start my journey.👏🏼 well done to you both.

Don’t tempt me with the scarves! The red one looked beautiful so I’ll have to look in the shop now. I love your weaving it’s so unique and feels lovely. I’m always intrigued with the wall hangings. You had one and I was sure you could see the swans in the canal, very clever and so artistic. Another great video and the view from the cloud was spectacular. The inside of the boat is looking great, very homely. Thanks as always for sharing your adventure.

Your stamina is impressive. Enjoy tracking your journeys on Google maps sometimes. Determined you were about eight miles, direct, from the Jodrell Bank radio telescope at that point on the top of Cloud Hill, and a little less than a mile from the canal and Constanze. Great views!

Hi folks, first time commenter here. Love your channel - have seen all episodes. My wife and I went canaling in the UK in 1982! Oxford to Banbury on the Oxford canal and up to the head of the Thames at Lechlade, just as you two did. Last canal trip was in France in 2001 on the River Mayenne, from the city of Angers (ahn-gee) in western France. Really a river with weirs and lock every few kilometers, so quite a different vibe than a true canal. Wanting to come back to UK and do a month or so on the canals again!
Anyway, just FYI, Jodrell Bank is a "radio telescope" - nothing to do with satellites. It is used to take a look into the far reaches of space just like a regular telescope does, except it uses radio waves instead of light. You probably already know that light and radio are just different wavelengths of the same thing - electromagnetic radiation. The radio waves are a lot longer in wavelength than light waves, so radio telescopes have to be many meters across like Jodrell, instead of a meter or so like a smallish telescope!
Really appreciate the work you put into the videos to allow us to vicariously enjoy your wonderful retirement.

Pub on the Basin Buxworth is the Navigation, Corrie actor Pat Phoenix owned it in the early seventies!!! Furness Vale has a marina (private) Crossings pub & Soldier Dick up on the A6. Marple on to Leeds well!!!!!!!!!!! Just wish it was me traveling. So just have to watch and like the next one.

After WW2 they had lots and lots of qarachute silk surqlus and it was available to buy. I had qarachute silk dresses when I was a baby in the mid nineteen sixties. Weird fabric, qresumably not real silk but it didn't feel qlastic either, thick and 'crunchy' but cool for summer. Washed to a bright white with a little bit of embroidery on the yoke - really very qretty.

What a climb to the top of that hill but well worth it by the looks of that fantastic view. Loving your channel and your trips around. The weather seems to change this year so fast if you need a good weather forcast have a look at ventusky.com on your laptop or use the app for iphone or android it really good. Looking forward to your next adventure.

Thank you for that recommendation. We will have a look. We have given up on the BBC and now just go to the met office app.
