    What a treat for all of us to get inside that museum like this, so thank you guys! Great to see all the effort to keep the history alive. And you were quite busy on the boat too. I loved that cap Martin tried out, very characterful! Hope both of you got one in the end! 😜😎♥️

      Hi Eric! The museum, tunnel and caverns were all a,axing, we love hearing history surrounding the canals, we’re so pleased they are preserving these things so future generations can see! Unfortunately we didn’t get any caps, looking at the footage now, they weren’t that bad, just made Martin look a bit serious, which definitely isn’t him lol! 😂 Have a great weekend Eric! xx

    The museum and grounds were really interesting. It's certainly a deal to pay once and get access for an entire year. The tunnel and the caverns are interesting. I'm glad you did well on the BSS. Getting a positive answer is always a relief even when you think everything is good. Sorting the cupboards is a good thing too. Staying organized is the hard part. 😊 ❤

    Hi both, the Black Country Museum is a brilliant day out, Beamish as well up in County Durham. Stopped in Banbury yesterday after being stuck in floods for the past 5/6weeks and the forge in Tooley's boat yard was working, I was chatting with the smithy & telling him about the chain making at Dudlley, a wonderful skill....when we ruled the world in manufacturing. Regards Mike and Alison.

    First off, congrats on passing your BSS! I'm sure that's a big weight off of your minds. Second, what a fascinating place to visit! I so enjoyed seeing the museum and all it's historic buildings (especially the tiles on the Elephant and Castle!), demonstrations, and even the food. I can see why they allow ticket holders to come back all through the year. I can just imagine how quaint the little town must be all decorated for the holidays! The tunnels and caverns were also so interesting to see, even the little bit you treated us to. I can see easily spending a full week at that mooring, just exploring all the history and information available. Thanks for sharing it with us!

    • @JulieandMartinonRIB
      @JulieandMartinonRIB  3 місяці тому

      Aww thank you Chris, we were quite released when Rhapsody passed the BSS! The museum was so special, to think that these buildings, houses, pubs, forges etc had been brought in from all over the Black Country and rebuilt brick by brick was just amazing! Oh wow, I bet it looks lovely all lit up and the caverns were spectacular. I’m just sorry I didn’t get more footage, but we were being filmed and I almost forgot to film, as I was ‘in the moment’ if that makes sense! I wish we could have stayed longer, as there is Dudley Castle to look around too, but the moorings are only short stay sadly. Glad you liked this one Chris! xx

    Thank you for sharing what a lovely museum. We owe a lot to the passion of individuals who preserve our history.
    We have some historic buildings here in Australia which were brought from England and rebuilt brick by brick. The English home of James Cook is in Melbourne.
    The English home of the Aviator Burt Hinkler was brought out and is located here in his birth town of Bundaberg. It was going to be demolished but some wonderful locals had raised the funds to save it.

    Hi guy's, how wonderful is the Black Country Museum, I love places like this that teach history from days gone by. The working display was excellent, great timing that you were there when it was all happening. I loved the old cars and motor bikes, there is a National Motor Museum here in South Australia in a little town called Birdwood. Countless cars and bikes and a beautiful picnic area in the middle. There is also a Pioneer village Museum with old houses, a church, shop emporium. a school house, old pub, butcher, you name it it's there. and the houses and buildings were all taken from other places all over Australia and like your museum reassembled in a village layout streets and all. Apparently some of the building are very haunted and a local paranormal investigation group called Adelaide Haunted Horizon's, another favourite you tube channel of mine, have had some very spooky things happen there. Luckily my wife and I went in the day time.😂😂👻👻 Excellent news that you passed your BBS inspection.👍🏻 And nice to see the film crew starting the filming, I'll be able to tell people I knew them when.🤣🤣😂😂 Oh well stay safe guy's. 👍🏻👍🏻❤❤

      Aww thank you! Each journey we do usually makes a vlog, the only difficulty we have really, after editing, is deciding on a title and finding a good thumbnail image that people will want to click on! We don’t use click bait and rarely have any dramas thankfully, but we love sharing our journeys and places we moor up! So pleased you’re enjoying our little videos! Thanks Alan! xx

TheBCLM is a must, there’s so much to see and do, I wish we could have shown going down the coal mine, but cameras weren’t allowed and it was quite dark down there, but a great experience! Thank you for your lovely compliment too, it makes it all worthwhile! Thanks David! xx

    Hi Julie & Martin, another brilliant vlog by you, we went to the Black Country Museum for a day a few years ago, it's a fascinating place, we stayed there so long they had to ask us to leave because the place was closing 😂, In last weeks vlog you asked about a derelict buiding on the canalside (with a tall chimney), it appears to be part of the old Soho Foundry that was built in 1795-6 by Matthew Boulton & James Watt, In 1895 W & T Avery Ltd. acquired the Foundry as a going concern, It is now the home of Avery Weigh-Tronix and Avery Berkel, who make weighing scales. (obviously not in the derelict bit). Quite a lot of information about the site etc. on the internet. Best wishes to you both, Al.

      Yes, I couldn’t believe the size of the chocolate bars, we’ve always thought they were getting smaller lol 😂 Some of the vehicles were amazing, I especially like the ones that looked like small vans but seemed to be attached to motorbikes! Thanks re the BSS, we were so pleased it passed, what with it being our home, we had checked and prepared everything we could think of, but she did alright, especially for a 20 year old boat! Thanks Anthony! xx

      You won’t be disappointed, it’s an amazing place, so much to see and do! If you intend to do the tunnel & caverns, once you know when you are going to be there, book up in advance, there are a few different tunnel/cavern experiences, but they can get booked up! You don’t want to get there and find it’s all fully booked, as they are only 2 day moorings. It’s well worth the money, and with the museum itself, your ticket lasts a full year, so you can come and go as you please, just brilliant! Have a great time, and if you remember, let us know how you get on! Thank you! xx

      Hi Julie, the locker at the front of the well deck is metal, but as we have a bow thruster, there is a wooden shelf that has been added, so we store things on the shelf. To get the the bow thruster, we would have to empty the locker, then remove the shelf, hope that makes sense xx

    • @JulieandMartinonRIB
      @JulieandMartinonRIB  3 місяці тому

      I don’t know John, wish I’d thought to ask! I know with some of the tunnels, because there’s earth above, it has to drain into the tunnels otherwise there would be too much weight above. After all though, these tunnels were built over 200 years ago, so if it’s working ok with leaks, then probably best to leave it alone lol 😂 Thanks John!
