Thank you so much!
Your new adventures with Percy are amazing! A really refreshing change up for you and the pups, thanks for taking us viewers along for the experience ❤
It’s our pleasure
I really liked the Time Lapse, smashing!! Those steps were a gruel for you, but WE, the viewers did not get puffed at all!! Thanks for making this video, it really was lovely - John 😍
Glad you enjoyed it!
You both have continued to find just those spots that show the beauty of your country. Then you bring in the history. Thank you. All the best, Hal
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for taking us with you Rich and Fran. Oh! And thank you Percy.👍♥️
Here, here, thank you Percy 😍
I didn't think it was even possible for you two to get even MORE relaxed, great one yet again guys
We felt the same. Boat life is simple enough but this takes it a step further
This is the most stunningly beautiful scenery! Breathtaking! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
We feel very lucky to be able to explore our wonderful countryside and are very happy to share
Such a beautiful country to explore.
Well done Percy for showing them and us ❤ some new lovely sites.
Hi Fran and Rich wow how beautiful is Wales when my husband was alive we went to Wales many a year on holiday and like you toured around how I miss those day so thankyou for taking me back great video, keep them coming ❤😊😊xx
Thank you, we will
Fabulous! What amazing memories you are making for yourselves, and for us who can never get there. Thank you so much xxx
Absolutly gorgeous The Eagles Nest. Stunning the walk up. Bravo to both of you.👍I agréé with you. We have a trailer but live in an apartment ( flat😘) So going to the trailer is our get-a-way. As you have your boat as your home and your Percy as your get away to land adventures. Enjoy your Percy. You looked so cozy and comy. Thank you for sharing your videos and travels. Regards from Québec
Canada. 🍁❤️
Sounds great! This is what we may do if we re ever unable to boat anymore
What a spectacular hike and view from the top.
Thanks for letting us know about Jess and Archie.
I always wonder when I don’t see them.
Great video as always!
Thank you!
Good to see you are enjoying the van.
My mother kept camping log books. When I was being raised with my three brothers we did tenting and pull behind travel trailer. It is interesting today to read through them. So I like the idea of a travel log book.
That must be amazing to read what is was like then. You are so lucky
The magnificence of nature. Seeing the ancient tree roots growing through everything is wonderful.
My scardy cat came out when I saw the old rocky steps….oh, what if you turned your ankle up there! 😅
Hey Rich, nice going. Keep the heart and lungs pumping. Gotta keep moving if you want to stay in the game. ✌
My Wife, My two cousin's, their Husbands and I had a weeks holiday on the Mon and Breck some years back. we hired a boat from Beacon Park Boats. Their location then was Llanfoist Wharf, Llanfoist. We went from there as far as Brecon and back. What a wonderful holiday that was.
That sounds brilliant
That was really impressive, great views and loving the new journey. 🙏🙏💕💕
Glad you enjoyed it
Hellooo! I kept journeys for my trips OS and still read them now every so often. Its amazing the things you forgot. I love them as they are great to have and look back on. The prices of things is a real! Shocker! Percy looks delightful
Totally agree! We can see the changes on the canals in just 6 years
Thank you I love your motor home Wales looks amazing
It is a perfect place to begin our exploring
It definitely makes you think how many planets in the universe are as beautiful as this one and how lucky we are to be on it. Thanks for the vid
Love Brecon and surrounding Beacons. We live in Wales and never tire of the scenery, beautiful views.
It must be a lovely place to live, so many fantastic views
Lovely views, thankyou.
Excellent video! Thanks!
Fabulous journey today. Thanks so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love Rick’s Teeshirt collection ✌️☮️
You look very relaxed sitting on the couches talking to us.
Thank you. It is really relaxing and Percy is so comfortable to click back in
Lovely scenery. Glad you did the climb instead of me, as I would have been mega out of breath! Thank you for sharing these views.
brilliant as always, thanks for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it
Gosh that scenery and time lapse was stunning! I'm so excited to follow you with Percy. I've binged watched all your narrowboat episodes and was so inspired by them, I would like to move back to the UK and get a narrowboat but in reality a van would probably be more doable. You have really given me something to think about. Can't wait to see more of your adventures, keep on inspiring please! Have a great week, you really do put a smile on my face. Cheers.
The motorhome is proving to be such a great way to explore and, yes, much easier than narrowboating
We have been enjoying our adventures in our motorbome for 6 years now, its the best thing we ever did buying our motorbome, we love it, we love walking and apreciate the nature and scenery 😊
We agree!
Thanks❤
Thank you!! That was beautiful!
Bravo for completing all those steps!!😊😊
That picture-setting of the two of you sitting in the Eagles Nest, was just beautiful, so hope you DID take a photo, or get one off the video, you both look so happy and peaceful 💙🦋
😊
Wow! What beautiful countryside. And the Brecon-Abergavenny canal looks stunning. Thanks for sharing it with us..."if it wasn't for Percy"... Cheers.
I am so very happy you have Percy. He has perked you up a bit…and us as well…🥰
🤗
We walked up those 365 steps about 15 years ago with a greyhound who refused to go up those metal steps. My husband carried him, all 40kgs!
Wow, good on you. We didn’t realise that there was a gentler way which we took to go down 😂
@@FloatingOurBoat yes we discovered the same!
Fab video. Views amazing. Percy looks great. You both look so relaxed. So glad the dogs have found their niche in Percy. Thank you for sharing your fun with us.
It is amazing how quickly they adapted to new routine. I think they like being so close to us.
Aww, beautiful guys. So relaxing (except those steps!)
Thanks Fran and Rich x Nell.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Rich, you should paint that sunset at the end of your vlog. What colors and Fran could incorporate the colors into a scarf. Loved the road trip. Maybe seeing your road trips will finally convince my hubby we need a camper van too. 😉😉
Definitely some inspiration in that sky
Fabulous walk, I’m really enjoying the camper van travels with you, thank you Percy!
Glad you enjoyed it
Absolutely stunning. What a beautiful landscape.
I really enjoyed it nice to see you both and your new van , take care.
Thanks 👍
Great video, we did the entire 36 miles on mon and Brec canal earlier this year. Amazing views and fab wildlife. Keep up the great videos and thanks.
It looks like a fantastic canal. Such a shape it isn’t linked o the main system
What beautiful views😊
Stunning scenery, humbling isn’t it ?
It is. Hills and mountains always ground us.
Stunning!
What a gorgeous video! Percy is certainly being a great addition to your lives. Enjoy! 🎉
Hi~"They" say that Variety is the Spice of Life, and that's what Percy has given you. Terrific video. xx
Yes! Thank you! That is a favourite saying of ours “ they say…yes, them!” 😂
good see you on travels in the van thanks lee
Retirement on the Monmouth sounds fab.
What a great vlog. Me and the wife have just bought a motorhome like you guys. This looks like a great place to visit. Thank you.
We really recommend it.
Astonishingly beautiful. Somehow i have come across Guy Shrubsole too, and have the Lost Rainforests of Britain to read. Thanks for sharing your wonderful travels
I love reading his books. He really opens your eyes as to what is really going on
Thanks for the video 😀
Beautiful!!❤❤
Lovely!🧡
Hi Rich, that looks like a Stairway to Heaven. 🤔
Very good 👍 😃
Life sure can be beautiful.
Gorgeous, that’s all I can think to say, and of course thank you.
Thank you too!
Don't ask why, just do. Life is short. Enjoy.
Good advice
I so enjoyed your chat while you sat looking out your van window looking at the beautiful vista. I have been in the Brycheiniog Park and went to a village that was so picturesque but only had one way into it….🇨🇦
Some of the roads are so narrow. We are lucky we haven’t got stuck yet.
Wales is such a beautiful country. I'm very glad you are touring her. I must ask, did you see any Tree Nymphs? Wales is simply filled with magic. Thank you for taking us with you. It is fabulous.
Only us😂
Fabulous trip so beautiful thank you for vlogging ❤
Beautiful! The views after the hike was just amazing! Amazon has gauge that will stick to side of tank or one you use that is like you would use to lift a suitcase and weigh it. The latter one is super accurate; but I also used the others before and they worked.
Thank you. In the end we bought a second bottle as we didn’t want to run out in the middle of the winter
Love Percy, a lovely way to get around as well as the boat. Enjoy.x
It really is!
Like Percy.
Hi Both, thank you for a wonderful video. Methinks you had taken us to Middle Earth a wonderful place to experience and appreciate and thanks for cleaning up after the Orcs. Stay safe and well.
😂
Done most of Wales in camper van and caravan love Wales you haven't seen half yet Allen valleys nice .
Another fantastic vlog, thank you from sharing your travels very interesting
I spent a week on the Mon & Brec last year on a hire boat... and yes, it's absolutely beautiful, as were your views from Percy. You've got the best of both worlds and it's great to have some adventures.
Ahhh, single track roads. I remember driving on them a lot in the Highlands when my now wife was working in Scotland for a year and I visited a couple of times. We were young .... Years later I did a day trip into Wales almost all the way to Aberystwyth, coming over the hills from Oxford, so to speak. And I was so chuffed when I could drive on miles of single track again. It's just so different, making the surroundings more important than the road. A bit less fun with a motorhome, I grant you, but still, it's just nice. Good journey's with Percy to all four of you! Mind you, never lived in the UK myself :-(. And thank you for showing us the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. I did some research to read more about it :-)
These narrow roads are great for me as a passenger, but a bit more stressful for Rich. The Mon and Brecon canal was a surprise find for us but so pretty
Great video . Thanks Go Percy.
Love your Zepplin shirt!
What an amazing, beautiful spot you found! And that sunrise.. 🤩
Thanks.
Beautiful video, the view is amazing.
Well done you two, another great one!
Beautiful scenery!!!! Loved the time lapse at the end. Thank you for the book recommendation Fran. I will have to give Who Owns England a read. Trespass by Nick Hayes made me very angry so I will have to pace myself with this one 😀
Have the blood pressure pills at the ready!
As I mentioned on your last video you went straight passed my house. If you would like to know more about the Mon and Brec feel free to ask as I am the chairman of the restoration of the Newport section including the historic 14 locks. We have met before at the Crick show two years ago.
Thank you. That is certainly worth remembering if we go back.
WOW, thank you both for sharing this video. 😊 😊xx
Truly envious🎉 And absolutely thrilled for you both❤ Isn't Wales just amazing? Wow. I'm going to watch this all again & especially that ending segment 😂
*Propane level trick:
Pour a mug of warm water down the side of the tank, from where the top becomes the rounded edge. Then, use the palm of your hand to find the "cold spot / line. From there down is the propane remaining in the tank.
Thank you, good advice
I (also am sure others agree) am so glad you got Percy and can travel "elsewhere". I've been watching other videos of travels by vans going to Wales and it is absolutely beautiful. After a while, the weather (unfortunately) will get bad with winter coming and you'll be glad to get back on the canals and enjoying the warm fires, reading and relaxing. Thanks for sharing with all of us. Travel safe.
That is true but we are lucky that we can choose the times that we go travelling!
Thankyou! that was lovely! but I am jealous, been over twice and snowed out of Wales the first time and ran out of time the second as with friend. Maybe this can be my trip to Wales with you both and I hope you do more. HAHA Love bloopers
We are so close to Wales that we will definitely be exploring more
Great video!! You two are great tour guides and I love that you are not put off by some long hikes. Nothing nicer than a good walk in the beautiful outdoors. Thanks for sharing the beautiful sites that you encounter. Percy looks so comfortable, and seems like a perfect way to take mini vacations from your home base.
Thanks for sharing.
😊🤗 Kathy
We seem to have been very lucky with our choice of van as it is so comfortable to relax in
Beautiful Wales - quite literally, Mae hen wlad fy nhadau.
Very relaxing and stunning places. Enjoy your choices / life.
hope you sketching Richard .sounds lovely happy day for you. Special moon tonight going out to look at it .
Rich does have an art pack on the van so hopefully he will find some inspiration
You should be able to guesstimate how much gas there is just by weight. Or, shake it a bit, then use your hands on the sides of the tank. Where the gas is will be colder than the area that is empty. Those views are stunning. love it!
Great tip!
Hi Fran and Rich, thank you for your latest vlog wow was spectacular views! You did well to get up all those steps that in itself was an achievement! There's no way I could have done that! I'm sure Sean James Cameron @seanjamescameron will have enjoyed this episode as he went back to live in Wales - a fellow UA-camr like yourselves! It was thank to Sean that I started watching you as he recommended your Channel!
I have to say Percy looks so comfy, I think you definitely made the right decision there as it gives you so many more options! Take care and all the best.
We still watch his videos and we did think about dropping in on him but it was just a little too far to go
It's not fair that you Brits have better landscapes than we (danes) do!
Well. Never mind. As long as we have you lot to share it with us I think we can live with it (we have to)-
And - as usual: Another hill to climb. You just can't leave it 😀
Thanks for sharing!
Love from Denmark
Ha ha, we do seem to love a hill. I’m sure you have plenty of stunning scenery. Hopefully we can explore someday
Thank you for the walk loved it.😎
I have just read your October blog on the website Fran. Thank you for su h an interesting read. Lovely descriptions and nice to hear about how you make decisions and why.
Its very helpful to hear.
We are near a marsh in Devon and enjoying the bird migration at the moment ❤
We are also near a RSPB reserve and very excited about what we will see. Glad you enjoyed the blog
@FloatingOurBoat think that must be Slimbridge?
We use to go and stay in our camper there. It's lovely. 😏
Ok guys here in Australia you can get a connection that goes on your gas tank & it tells you how much gas you have left. I haven't got one as I've always had a spare bottle.
That sounds good, we will look out for one
So glad you saw the Monmouth and Brec Canal. We spent a wonderful long weekend on a narrowboat there a few years ago. The views are unbelievable - especially given the contour-following heights it reaches. The only issue was that it gets quite shallow in places… with predictable results 😅
Most canals seem to have this problem these days due to lack of dredging. With all the rain we have had lately it should be fine now!
Hi both just listening to your Pod Casts and as you are local to us, I thought I would share a couple of things you might find useful. From Saul you can walk the Canal to Stroud and it is worth a visit, the canal you walk is all part of the restoration that is hopefully one day going to bring the canal back into our town and maybe one day beyond towards London (that part is very long term). Also Painswick is a lovely village that I know you would both fall in love with, there is a car park just on the edge of the village where you could park the Van. Also a great viewpoint to see the Severn is a place called Nympsfield, I do believe you can park up overnight there as well. Malvern as I say is also one of my favourite places. Anyway if you would like any local knowledge, I am always happy to share. Enjoy your stay its great to hear that you love the area.
Thank you so much. We do intent to explore all the canal restoration and the parking suggestions are very helpful x
Hi Fran and Rich, stunning landscapes!! Thanks for sharing!! Will you be finding a storage home for Percy nearer to your boat or will you Rich always have to travel a day to take Percy home after each break away ? Glad the dogs have settled well, it might have been badgers that they were barking at.... xx
We may look for something nearer if we are going to be in the same area for some time
Looks amazing!
I always carry a spare gas bottle. The 10 kilos does not seem to add much to diesel usage. But you could always carry a little 3 kilo back up bottle if you are so paranoid about the weight.
This is what we have now done so we can relax
We hired a boat on the M&B canal with canal boating friends of ours a few years back and it really is probably the most picturesque canal that there is. Maybe walking it will certainly give you a good experience of its beauty. What I do remember (the other three didn’t suffer) was the enormous Horse/March flies which left me with crater sized holes in my limbs for months.
