    Thank you for stating that genetics plays a big part in hair growth thickness and definition because people try to make it seem like it's so easy to grow your natural hair no matter what but no genetics plays a big part and how fast it grows as well

      Your hair grows at the same rate on average as anybody else the difference is breakage depending on how coarse your strands are it could be breaking as fast as it grows but it grows nonetheless

    *Hair is always growing some grows faster than some which is okay. Genetics aren’t the end all be all. It’s just something to keep in mind when you’re comparing your hair to someone else’s. Make sure you know that hair pills aren't totally 100% its only giving your body whats its missing in nutrients so if you stop some have known to have side effects like hair thinning or shedding. So I'd just incorporate healthy eating, drinking water and exercise. You can take multivitamins for extra nutrients*.
    *HAIR TIPS*:
    ♧moisturise, moisturise, did i say moisturise? Because if your hair is snap pop & crackling its going to lead to breakage
    ♧Deep condition (w/heat for deeper penetration) after every wash
    ♧low manipulation as much as possible (twistouts/braidouts, bantu knots, cornrows, buns, fro, perm rods/flexi rods)
    ♧stop heat styling as much as possible
    ♧Take your time detangling always use a conditioner with slip.
    ♧TRIM your ends whenever you need it to help eliminate single strand knots and split ends.
    ♧Keep your hands out your hair going end up breaking it off
    ♧Take pictures it'll help you see your growth
    ♧*PRODUCTS YOU'LL NEED*
    (Don't need expensive products)
    -shampoo (sulfateor sulfate-free) just keep your scalp clean.
    - conditioner/deep conditioner can skip a reg conditioner if your dc has alot of slip.
    - a leave-in conditioner/moisturise
    - Oil/butter to seal your hair
    ♧*Tools*: your fingers, wide tooth comb or detangling brush like the Denman brush/tangle teezer.
    ♧Get a bonnet, satin scarf or satin pillow to protect hair at night.

      PunkGirlRock how do I protect my hair at night when I did a twisted out ?

    • @PUNKGIRLrock24
      @PUNKGIRLrock24 6 років тому +23

      The Infinity depending on length of your hair.
      ♧Pineapple (if shorter you can do 4 or more loose pineapples) then put scarf or bonnet on
      ♧banding method
      ♧just sleep on satin pillow with hair loose (use a head band push out your face)
      ♧put a bonnet or scarf on and shake it out in morning

    This young lady is spot on! I have been in the hair industry for more than 25 years. We were taught early on in the chemistry of hair class that hair growth comes from within. You can stimulate the scalp to promote blood circulation which can in turn help with faster hair growth but the hair actually grows from the scalp which come from within. Placing hair products directly on the strands of the hair does not make the hair grow. It may help to make the hair strands stronger but it DOES NOT make the hair grow. It is ONLY coating the cuticles. HAIR GROWTH COMES FROM WITHIN. What we eat and drink....etc. Keep being scientific young lady:) IT WORKS!!

    I 100% agree with you that it's got to be genetics. I say this because I do not take care of my hair, I don't even deep condition it. I don't do protective styles. I've relaxed it many times, and yet it still keeps growing. It grows like a weed and I wish it would slow down because I prefer my hair shorter. I've just never been comfortable with it long. And because I'm cheap and lazy I don't like paying for regular haircuts or sitting at the salon for long periods of time to get it cut. Plus, because I have very thick hair like you, they never wash my hair properly at the salon. I tell them to scrub my scalp really hard but it's like they're afraid that they're going to hurt me but I can take it. So whenever I get home I always rewash my hair because I'm never satisfied. I always leave the salon feeling dirty and looking like a hot mess because they don't know how to work with the quantity of hair that I have. And it seems like all they know how to do is straighten it, which isn't my thing.

    • @aminaht5694
      @aminaht5694 6 років тому +3

      Andrea Douglas girl everyone hair grows. You just have STRONG hair and THAT is genetic. Nothing except alopecia or another health problem will stop anyone's hair from growing however a lot of people can't handle certain damaging acts being done to their hair without it breaking off.
      And I always feel like they wash my hair too hard on the salon. One time I had a little scab on my scalps from it

    • @Banana-lk7tf
      @Banana-lk7tf 6 років тому +1

      Aminah Mccollough that's the thing I don't get about my hair is that it breaks off a lot and I lose a lot when I comb it but yet it's still keeps growing. That person mystery to me. And I think they don't wash my hair well or scrub my scalp well enough when I go to the salon! My scalp can take a beating!

    • @Banana-lk7tf
      @Banana-lk7tf 6 років тому

      Regina Weston yes I've had my thyroid checked many times but it always comes back fine. But trust me, I don't mind that my hair breaks because it's too darn thick. I have enough hair on my head for four people. I wish it were much thinner. I just wish my hair were easier to comb and that I could find products that actually moisturize my hair. I have very, very low porosity hair so it's almost impossible for me to find products that work.

      Sha'Ron Guillory I think it is as well. I shed like crazy. I just don't know what to do. I really want big hair some day. I try to be gentle with my hair but it still sheds and stays the same length. I've been natural for five years. My hair has been this length for two. I have split ends like crazy and am considering a mini chop.

      Try keeping a track of things & products you do within your hair regime. Do you have alot breakage/ssk which means you a trim, moisture and protect your ends more often. If your wearing hair out in wash n Go's and unstreteched styles that leads to ssk and breakage more often. Do more stretched styles and styles that tuck your ends away if want to retain more length. Moisturise, Moisturise. Deep condition your hair more often. Protect your hair at night. What tools you use to detangle? You detangling with conditioner that has slip?

      briyana 96 exactly, genetics plays major role. Now you can help genetics along by perserving what you grow, aka keeping those ends intact, a healthy scalp, and a decent diet.

    AWESOME HAIR GROWTH!!!
    I big chopped my hair a few weeks ago and I didn't think my hair would grow as fast as it is. I have decided to keep my hair short for a while because I hate having long hair. It is a struggle to keep cutting it every few weeks but it's worth it.
    Just saying this because you inspired me to cut my hair, so thank you!

      Rabbid Bunni XP lolll. When I first big chopped I used that line. Now that I’m an experienced natural i cant go back to it after using fir 2 yrs. Their formula has not been curl/coily friendly as time progresses. They try to saturate the market with new products and the quality is slipping.

    • @sunkissednae1985
      @sunkissednae1985 6 років тому

      Ze Beast whike I was transitioning up until i was ok with my hair length, I wore braids, twists, or protective styles so my hair would not show.

    • @sunkissednae1985
      @sunkissednae1985 6 років тому +1

      I 100% relate, but at the end of the day always do what YOU feel you should do. If you want to cut it off, go for it! Hanging on to the damaged ends jeopardizes the health of your hair too, so a cut is always the best way out.

    • @naanagyimah4229
      @naanagyimah4229 6 років тому

      +Sunkissed Nae my natural hair is uneven because i had bald spots in middle of my hair from tight braids , the middle is 3 cm n so are some of the sides but the rest is 6'-7cm ( which is 2 inches) so im really stuck on what to do

    • @sunkissednae1985
      @sunkissednae1985 6 років тому

      Ze Beast my sister's hair is like that now, from a had relaxer though. She used to wear it in updos like a braided ponytail, or any style that easily covers the areas with less hair. She also wears crochets (the ones when you cornrow your hair, then slip the weave through each braid). I don't recommend it for everyone, since when I wore them my hair broke off from the tension. But all hair is different, you kind of have to experiment until you find what's best.

    • @felicialynette765
      @felicialynette765 6 років тому

      Ze Beast You can also wear wigs until it grow out. The natural looking wigs. Not the ones that look like a wig.
