- Hello Singderellos,
In this video, I react for the first time to Corey Taylor performing ‘Snuff’. In this video, I analyse his amazing performance, explain and demonstrate his vocal techniques and I'll tell you what I think made it so great.
Corey is a powerhouse of a vocalist! His display of raw emotion is breathtaking. This performance also reminded me of Disturbed's "Sound of Silence"!

I just stumbled across your channel tonight, a couple things 1. You're really really good at what you do and 2. OMG are you beautiful, like make my jaw drop beautiful! Will you marry me? lol🤟💘
Thank you for this excellent reaction! You are now my favorite reactor. I love “Nerd Time”.
This is just such a fabulous performance by Corey Taylor. I always look back at this, then try to imagine him with a mask on. . . Love this analysis, Lolli!!
Ahh my goodness thank you so much!! 😍 I know! Gosh his versatility is just crazy isn't it? This performance was unmasked on many levels i think. I am so excited to see you here, thank you 💜
@@jamesaron209 How about you just enjojy quality content and stop being negative.
@@jamesaron209 I haven't had to pay or subscribe and get great content/reactions from both of these gorgeous ladies. Top of their game. Not overly analysing but picking up on what the artists mean.
@@TheFairyVoiceMother Corey's vocal extension really shows via Stone Sour. Lookong at you through the glad is a really, really! Good track.
🤣🤣
re: Corey’s neck… it is definitely kind of legendary lol. so much so that he found out a few years back that he had broken his damn neck *17 years* prior and didn’t notice 😳 went for a checkup because of progressive weakness and nerve issues and his dr was shocked he could still function at all. they did emergency surgery to replace 2 vertebra and shave some other bone that was damaging his spinal cord. he didn’t tell Corey the whole “you should have been paralyzed” bit until after the surgery as to not scare the piss out of him.
Yep. As much as this sounds like some kind of "legendary metal singer urban legend"-type stuff, when it comes to Corey I can believe it. The amount of shit the guy has been through in his life is something else. From what little I know about it from interviews and the books he's written I'm not sure I'd want to trade places with him. Massive fame and money not-withstanding. Of course, he'd break his damn neck and not notice ^^ Considering the stage shows Slipknot does (and more importantly did in earlier years) it's not exactly far-fetched.
I'm not 100% sure about this, but I remember either reading or hearing somewhere that he supposedly actually broke it by headbanging too hard. Which sounds nuts, but again - it is Corey "The Neck" Taylor we're talking about so who knows.
wow
Even though I like imagining Corey's neck isnt that big, it's just his head thats real small; I have to admit that's not a neck. It's a Neck.
the Fairy Voice Mother geeking out over Corey Taylor's neck is exactly what i needed. congratulations on the 100k, well deserved
Geeking? I think they call that something else
I hate to see what the fairy voice mother geeks out over if she looks at George ( Corspegrinder) Fisher from cannibal corpse

Your denouement of this video is so good. Yo. People watch the end of the video.
You should read up on the background to this song. It was originally written about his ex-wife but when Paul Gray (Slipknot bassist who had persuaded Corey to include it on the All Hope Is Gone Album) died, it's meaning evolved into homage to him - hence Corey's introduction about it being a heavy song form
That's not the story I've heard for this song. I've always heard the song is about a close female friend that helped him through recovery and some very dark times that he fell in love with but she didn't feel the same way.
The Paul part is definitely right though.
I've heard both stories for years, so you both win.
Joke aside, the song is clearly written about a girl, for me it doesn't matter about who.
The fact that the meaning changed and why is more important, you get the picture of why he's having a rough time perform it.
Paul wrote the chord progression also
I always wondered if it was for Paul or some chick that broke his heart :)
As a singer myself, I can with great confidence state that you are THE best vocal reaction channel on youtube. There are many others who are really good, but they don't have this depth of knowledge in technique. When they listen to something that is spectacularly difficult to do, as a singer, it pisses me of when they don't seem to understand how difficult that thing really was. Recent examples include Chhap Tilak, and Bol hu. Every non-eastern reaction channel understates the singing ability. They simply don't have the knowledge of vocals. BUT YOU, when you mentioned gamakas and then proceeded to demonstrate, I was blown away then. and I still get blown away at every reaction of yours. You are the best.
There are some other vocal coach/reactors who can explain the techniques with as much detail, but they take four times as long to do it! Fairy Voice Mother gives it all to us in a succinct and entertaining manner. Amazing!
Do you know The Charismatic Voice?
I'm sitting in my car eat lunch , and watching this reaction made me smile 🙂, I've been a Maggot since I was a teenager and I enjoy Slipknot on their brutal songs and ballads/slow songs, Snuff is one of the most genuine songs ive heard , the feeling it gives , the pain in the lyrics, it's just all a beautiful chaotic feeling, everytime I hear the first words "bury all your secrets in my skin...." I always get chills and get in my feelings, awesome song and reaction , Maggot4Life 🤘🙂
Just binged an hour of your videos and I have to say, not only do you make sense to someone with zero vocal coaching, you're fun to watch and I get a good laugh in every video. Thanks for being you and sharing that with us here!
Highly recommend ‘Words darker than their wings’ by Alter Bridge. This is the live version at the Royal Albert Hall with a full orchestra. I would love to see your reactions and analysis of that great performance.
That high note gives me goosebumps every time, I second this one
+1 for Alter Bridge and this track!
I second that.
I second this! One of my favourite songs hands down
Agreed.
100k deserves a party.
There will DEFINITELY be a party!!!
@@TheFairyVoiceMother Will there be balloons and silly hats?
Absolutely, so very much deserved - needs a big hoolie 🎂🍰🧁🥂🍸🍷
@@pyewacket24 I'm taking notes ;)
Keep at it Lolli. You have all the elements you need to add another zero to this number. It's should only be a matter of time. Best I've seen.
That edit for The Neck was fantastic, LMAO I love it. Fun edit, fun commentary, love this channel.
I had to listen to this song at least five times before being able to get through it without tearing up.
Congrats on 100k ! Well earned dear. Imo your numbers should be a lot higher. You are an absolute delight to watch and learn from. Thanks.
"The girth on that neck!" Made me laugh, just thought I'd let that be known. Your reactions are awesome.👍
It gives me goosebumps everytime when i watch this live performance.
This song will always be the best for me. It means alot to me.
It's Corey's magical tree trunk neck that produces all that power 😆🤘 He's an amazing singer with wide vocal range 🤘
Just had a rough day at work, infact it's been a rough week in general but every time you drop an analysis/reaction it brightens up my day and changes my mood,.Your joy for music and the passion at which you go into the depths and mechanics of the human voice is amazing. Just know your videos have impact and you are much appreciated.
This version of this song gets me every time. Thank you for reacting to it.
Best reactor Ever! :O
Surface Pressure (ENCANTO) or anything with Kellin Quinn :) or anything you want you do an amazing job!
Congrats on 100K well deserved, just wanna add that you are (in my opinion) the best vocal reaction channel on UA-cam, you clearly have a passion for vocals as a whole, other channels seem to be put off when reacting to certain genres but you seem to focus a lot more on the vocal aspect of it, keep up the good work, love your humour and how you imitate some of the heavier vocal techniques
Thank you so much Adam. Ah this is so wonderful to read you like the videos, I am so lucky to have your support 💜
I love watching your reactions. You give a lot of information without stretching it out into too much time and your enthusiasm and editing keeps me smiling. Keep doing what you are doing.
Congrats on 100k! Love that you're doing this for the acoustic version of Snuff!
Loved this. It's so good to know you're moving to a more tranquil place (if that's what you want, of course).
Congratulations on your 100 thousand subscriptions!
“That neck…!” Years and years and years of head-banging. Insanely ferocious head-banging…
Corey Taylor you absolute UNIT
Thank you for the insight and for sharing the joy that music brings to you. It's contagious and joy is never out of style!
Wow, what an incredible breakdown I've not heard. Very knowledgeable of the content you speak about. I'm totally impressed. Thank you!
Thanks for another great video. You are an absolute gem, and good luck with the move.
you are by far the best vocal reactionist out there
Corey Taylor.
10% man.
90% neck.
I love this man
Is it even possible to not get goosebumps listening to this?
Oh my God, I am so glad I found this reaction!! You've got such a beautiful warm voice from the little that I've heard, you're very knowledgeable and on top of that your video was also very entertaining to watch! As someone who is training to become a singer I am very very interested in understanding how things work so thank you!! I'd love it if you could take a look at Skid Row's Wasted Time. I could never understand how does someone sing like that without loosing his voice so maybe you could shed some light on this❤️
Thanks! And congrats on 100k!
Congrats on 100k subscribers and thank you for your great work! Stay awesome! \m/
Loved the analysis. First time viewer, you earned a subscriber.
This song hits me personally because I lived it as well. My wife abandoned me when I was at my lowest point, an absolute dredge of society. I was toxic, a liar, a cheater, and a substance abuser. I was so miserable to her, she was absolutely right to leave. The pain I feel from this was knowing she fought until she just couldn’t, and I was too in my own spiral to see I was throwing our lives away.
Sorry if that’s TMI. I thought I’d share a personal account as to why this resonates with so many people.
You’re very brave 💜 I am sure your special now is ever ascending, you have my support and love.
@@TheFairyVoiceMother thank you. She’s in a better place now, married and happy. I’m grateful for that.
Such a wonderful example of what a professional but raw performance can be. Fantastic reaction as ever TFVMum - I always learn something new here! 💜
no matter how many times i hear see this version, it just hits you right in the feels
If you are into necks, I recommend George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher from the little folk music combo called "Cannibal Corpse". The music is a bit boring but the neck is great.
second this, but lover the music from Geroge anyway
alwaus a pleasure and a positive part of any day to watch your videos. Your ability to emote good vibes is unique. Thanks for sharing it with us.
love your breakdowns nd personality feels true and we need more true people in this world
This was the first videos I’ve seen and you’re incredible. You’re informative AND entertaining. Looking forward to watching more of your content.
I learn and I laugh so much on this channel. I love it. And I need mooooaaar videos 😌
Your reactions convey art, knowledge about the stuff, technology and... grace!
Cheers for the new place!!! And always thanks for the detailed explanation.
Great as always! As a person who has no background in music and most certainly can’t sing to save his life, I find your reactions incredibly interesting and fascinating. Learning so much that I’ve never ever thought about when listening to music before. Your passion and love for music and the artwork behind the voices really comes through the screen and that’s, imo, what makes you the best reaction channel out there. Thank you so much for doing this!
My favourite band is Kaleo and I would love to see a reaction about them. The singer has such a unique voice and they’re quite big, yet there seems to be amazingly few reactions to them. If you ever were to react to them my suggestion would be their cover of “Bang, Bang”. He really shows his range there.
Thanks again for an amazing channel!
Excellent as always, your reaction and your sence of humor ! What we need are more Songs singing by yourself ! 🙂
Awhh thank you Johann, they’re coming!!!
I thoroughly enjoy your efforts! I learn a lot from your reactions and commentary.
Brilliant, as usual!
I listen to this entire live concert each week on his UA-cam channel. My favorite performance!
Loving your reactions, also learning quite a lot, thank you
Honestly, nobody ever reacts to Brandon Boyd (of Incubus) He’s an amazing singer, and an amazing human. Absolute positivity. Please react to Nice To Know You live or Wish You We’re Here. They’re stonkingly good!!
ooh I'd forgotten about them, thanks
That entire concert this is from was amazing to listen to.
Congrats to the silverbutton. Love your channel. Next up 1 Mill.
Been a slipknot fan for years but I love Corey's voice more when he goes acoustic. Adore the distortion, he's so good at it you can feel every ounce of pain he's been through. Great reaction as always, hope the move goes well lovely xx ☮️💟
Totally dig your examples of techinque and breakdown. You madam, got a new sub.
🥺 gets me every time..." So if you love me let me go"......
The song usually messes with my mood, but I'm all good. That monologue from Hi Ren has genuinely changed my thought processes.
I love the fact that you touched upon the similarities between Corey and David! I may not be as knowledgeable as you but I picked up on the similarities that you talked about at 6:33. And as always I thoroughly enjoyed your very technical breakdown of this wonderful performance :)
I agree with Adam " the best vocal reaction channel on UA-cam" Your reactions are so tangible, so real, i love it. Great work again. Thank you so much ❣❤💯
please can you react to some little mix! their live version of "woman like me" from their 2022 tour is truly insane! they're so talented and need more spotlight from vocal coaches bc they all have impeccable live vocals, which is quite rare for pop music these days (and girlgroups). truly one of the most vocally gifted girlgroup of all time (and the 3rd best selling one too) you'll be blown away for sure!
Great video! This is the kind of channel that I watch because of the creator and if the song is also good, that is a plus. Cheers on the move, I hope all goes well.
Love your content and I love you. Wishing you peace, love and happiness always from Kansas USA.
When you spoke on transparency and emotion you just described yourself.❤
Love your reactions and analasis on these artists - good stuff :) I wish I had of gotten some proper singing lessons back in the day :)
Another amazing reaction video of you, thank you so much! I didn't actually know this song, so always nice to discover something new and also hearing your awesome and humorous style of reacting to it (plus the detailed analysis), it's really a treat each week. If you need another suggestion, I would diieeeee to hear another Dimash reaction video, for example to "Love of tired swans" or "Autumn strong" (Gloria WU version, because of subtitles + explanation to the history of the song). I noticed not many reaction videos to these two exist and I know you love Dimash as much as we all do (plus you will die of laughter from some of the faces of the audiences again in Autumn strong, I guarantee). All the best to you, thank you for bringing us so much joy with your videos!
Corey Taylor has one of those voices I'd listen to sing a phone book.
Congratulations on 100k!!! So glad I subscribed because I love hearing about anatomy, it's my weird autistic hyper fixation lol, and relating it to my favorite hobby is absolutely a treat for me! I hope to see tons more videos in the future. I would love to see you react to LiSA's Homura that was recorded on the "First take" channel. Be safe moving and hopefully your new home treats you well. :DDDD
I usually don't watch the whole video on reaction channels for various reasons. On yours, I do. The knowledge you convey and your editing style makes these so entertaining. Also, I know words darker than their wings (live at royal albert hall) has been done to death but that or another Alter Bridge song would be sick. Bros Landreth is another extremely underrated band IMO, never seen a reaction.
You are the best, keep doing what you are doing and I’ll keep watching.
You’re awesome !! Love you’re reactions.
I love this song, it completely saved my life.
Congrats on 100K!!! I’m not a huge slipknot fan myself but this is a great song. The Swedish prog metal band Soen (a band you really should check out) recently covered this on a live feed they did in jan. Amazing version
Always dig when you get into the anatomy of vocals.
Don’t care what you listen to, music should give you goosebumps. Go Corey. The FVM reaction was the same as mine and awesome to watch.
So love your examination of his performance! I would love to see you react to Queensryche's "Take Hold of the Flame" live from Tokyo. Geoff Tate is well recognized as one of the best hard rock vocalists from the 80s-90s. His range from lows to operatic highs is phenomenal. Another would be Bruce Dickenson of Iron Maiden, particularly "Hallowed Be Thy Name". And for a bit of a duet/accompaniment try Kamelot's "The Haunting" from their "One Cold Winters Night" live with guest vocalist Simone Simons of Epica. Looking forward to more of your reactions! /cheers
Keep flappin' the good flap fairy voice mother.
Forever 🤘💜
I love this song ❤ and good luck with the move 😊
Congratulations on 100K!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so so much!
PMT is actually the name for my local music gear retailer.
Asked a friend who worked there and he said "Yeah they knew exactly what they were doing"
This is literally my first ever comment on anyyyyy video, and my first ever channel to subscribe. Literallyyyyyy. I love you so much, so so soooo much and I hope you post more content (as thats the only way to sorta, meet you).
AWWW! love you too gorgeous, thank you so much for being here :) I will post weekly way more consistently now that i've moved. x
Great reaction. Corey Taylor is a legend. You should watch him perform Home/ Zzyxz Road live at The Forum. Amazing performance as always from Corey 👍😃
Your explanations are always fascinating. This video made me wonder: Why is it that when you get a bunch of people (like an audience) all singing together, it sounds much better than listening to most of the individuals in the crowd?
Also, can you please react to Lawrence - Don't Lose Sight (Acoustic)?
This song always gets me.
Draiman , shadows and Taylor would be the ultimate collab. Never gonna happen but it would be beyond amazing
Your very knowledgeable in voice.... This is my first video but I look forward to seeing alot more from you 🤘🤘
This whole concert is petty amazing.
Though there are some other vocal coach/reactors who can explain the techniques with as much detail, they take four times as long to do it! Fairy Voice Mother gives it all to us in a succinct and entertaining manner. Amazing! i wish my time in academia had been remotely this fun.
Never got into Corey despite the fact that he has a great voice. That being said I'll happily watch anything FVM reacts to. Such a gem.
There's nothing that I love more from reaction channels than those wonderful uncontrollable nerd-out moments like when you noticed Corey's neck, lol.
Congratiulations.. You just reacted to the best Song ever recorded..
Whole Heartedly SUBSCRIBED!
p.s. You're amazing.
Félicitation pour les 100K abonnés. J'aime votre style. C'est toujours distrayant et un plaisir d'écouter vos analyses vocales. Merci d'être vous.
Ahh merci beaucoup 😘💜
Congratulations on reaching this subscriber milestone. You are one of the most informative and still super entertaining vocal analysis channels out on UA-cam land. A song suggestion: You should check out Devin Townsend's acoustic performance of Bring Him Home (Les Miserables) (can be found on UA-cam), very emotive and displays his power to project his feelings very well.
If you wouldn't mind I would love to see your reaction to the wellerman misty mountains it's an absolute masterpiece of a cover with some amazing vocalists
Corey is an insane singer. He's got a 5.5 octave range and one of the best growl voices out there.
Corey also fronts stone sour, I don't know if they still make music but their song "bother" gives me goosebumps for 15 years running
This performance wasnt long after Paul Grey died. Thats why its such raw emotion. RIP Paul Grey
This is such a lyrically beautiful song. You can tell that this song means a lot to him.
I absolutely love hearing you talk about music... I can't sing at all.... lol... but here is one I would love to hear you talk about ..Chris Cornell - "Nothing Compares 2 U" (Prince Cover) Live .... This is a jaw dropping performance if you haven't already seen it.
