Thunder, good strong name good strong bull. Growing up on the plains of Wyoming I still remember the thunder before the storms and the thunder of hooves as they quickly run through the sage. So many years ago, like bulls we age and move on. I enjoy watching and remembering, I know your dad and your father inlaw are smiling and proud.
That rush of emotion holding back the tears when the vet tells you the news that a loved animal is too badly injured and they have to be humanely put to sleep and all the time thinking could his accident have been avoided, But Mike, you take stock you looked after him to your best ability and big beasts break legs easily so unless you penned him in cotton wool nothing more could have been done and at the right time you made the right decision RIP Bubba God bless and watch over you Erin and the Kids mate..... and call the black bull Tyson.
The last time I cried about an animal being put down was when my pet pig red was loaded onto the trailer to be butchered. I bottle fed him and we kept him around for a long time as a breeder bore for us.....Then my dad announced we were loading him up to take to the meat market....the hardest part of seeing a friend go is being a kid and eating your friend on Saturday morning after you get in from chores. That son is the truth
That JD Gater is one versatile tool. Kudos to you, Mike. I could not imagine a more responsible, practical, compassionate rancher (and your little ranch hands too). Good job everyone.
Great video Mike. I'm a vet over 90% disabled. Your videos have given me inspiration and helped me and my wife find a direction for our life. I was watching this video with my year and half year old and she saw the Black Angus and now is running around yelling Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. So that's our vote. From the mouth of baby Toothless
We used to have a big black angus bull that we called "George". He was as gentle as ever. We could lay down on his back or stand on his back with no problem. He was always my favourite bull.
Man, that was a rough first few minutes. I really appreciate how much you respect these animals, from the largest bull to even the smallest barn kitten.
Sad, but good video, Mike. Sorry for your losses this past week. We lost our 15 1/2 year old Golden Shepherd two weeks ago so this made me cry, again. The ranch roundup sounds like a great idea.
Great video and nicely put about the animals that are no longer with you. That meet and greet sounds pretty cool for next year. Have you got plenty of RV parking? I think your going to need it for sure. Thanks again e sharing.
Name of Ace is my thought. Rough week indeed sir. Good to see you have maintained your composure and positive attitude. Thank you for another well done visit into your life.
Thank you for being so diligent about the fence line when you moved the bulls. Having experienced what its like to hit a stray bull on a highway, I know it's not a fun time for both the driver or rancher.
So sorry about the tough week on the ranch. It is never easy to lose an animal, let alone 3 in the same week. Thank you for the update and I hope 9702 comes close to filling Bubbles' and Bubba's shoes.
Hey, look!! A big dummy!!! (There's a mannequin in the background, too.) Just kidding! Sounds like a super stressful week. Glad y'all got through it OK. The meet-and-greet (or should that be meat-and-greet??) sounds like a load of fun.
This was a tough one to watch Mike, I never knew how attached I was to my animals until one of my goats passed away it didnt help that he was my favorite goat but I sat there and cried like a baby you would have thought I lost one of my children, but my kids are all grown up now and I have a small barn with a couple of ponies a couple of pigs and the goats for my grandkids to learn about animals and I enjoy there company there all great pets but they are a lot of work for me because I am in a wheelchair and cleaning stalls takes on a whole new meaning these days I really appreciate you sharing your ranch with us and one day I would like to visit when you have another family day there
Look up Dr Temple Grandin, she is amazing with working animals. we used some of her techniques at the farm and it made animal handling incredibly more efficient. I really would like to make it to your event, if your even looking for a volunteer to help I would be interested. Thanks so much for sharing Mike, Erin.
Name him Jasper! We had a steer named Jasper and I just think it fits pretty well lol. Sorry for your losses, I admit I teared up when I heard Adie (Aidie?) was gone. It's never easy.
Wow mike you have a rough week I was aware of your mother in laws cow passing really sorry for her and you I'M sure it was hard on all of you. Thanks for sharing parts of your life with us. I have been enjoying the live streams you and Erin have been doing I think they are a nice touch and another insight to what your lives are like living and running the ranch. Hope your having a great day. God Bless!!!
Hi good morning Mike Erin Mackenzie Lincoln and Gracie, I'm continuing to enjoy you're videos tremendously, hi Mackenzie how's doing hope everything is okay, may God continue to richly blessed you guys. Have yourselves a wonderful day all day long. 👋 bye.🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂

Love this channel. I am a second gen Oklahoma rancher, and i feel you show what ranching really is without glamorizing. For me mostly hard physical and mental work, lots of aggravation, and a thousand year to do list with low take home pay. But, we must love every minute, or dont know any better. When i figure it out ill let you know. Keep up the awesome vids cowboy.
Sorry about the tough week guys, we've all had them. You should consider naming that bull Ferdinand if he's nice enough. Exciting news about the open house.
Hey Mike , Not such a good week but never mind things can only get better right ? Aww no fair about the meet and greet LOL.😀 Oh well we will just have to be content with the live stream. I thought I would Thankyou about the reply you sent to me on my partners Bevans account . I had my note book in being fixed after having the sockst repaired . You said you were so glad to hear what I had wrote about my acceptance of ranching being a vegetarian and having so much negativity from other vegans ect . Thanks to you and watching how you care and have respect for your herd and the bond that you have with them you had opened my mind . So that was me under Bevan Mudges name . All the best 😊
future sailor they are presently looking for the best breed to fit the ranch. I’m sure if anyone out there has pups they would be more then happy to adopt one or two.
Hi again! A tough day at the ranch huh Mike! So sorry to all of you for your losses. I know all to well and it's especially hard when the kids are young. Tough for them to understand the whole life concept thing and especially after they've been given a name!! It's really personal then for the kiddos and that much tougher to accept they won't be with them anymore. We always had a small ceremony made little crosses and talked about God and His plan which always helped. Chore by chore things leave the list and you get a chore closer to being ready for winter! Oh remembering those WY cold winter winds!! In spite of it all a good day with the bull chore Mike. Oh wow what a wonderful invitation for a visit next year! How gracious and I must say brave to add such a huge event to your list. How I would so enjoy going back to your part of the country and meeting you folks. Good idea to put it out there early because people do have to plan ahead for such things. Have to get passed an upcoming nasty surgery but that surely gives me something to look forward to! Foods from your very ranch would be most special and enjoyable after going along with you both learning how you produce it all. I have great hope I will be there. By the way Mike I was smiling and relieved you only had one fence repair! Yay! Hope your days this week will go good and easier for you. Til next time...
A little tip for you when the animals start to go to the other end of the pasture. Chase them that way a little harder and they will soon turn and want to go the right way. It has always worked for us.
I felt your pain on the bulls Mike. A number of years ago on the ranch my dad sent me out to bring our bulls in to the ranch. Being only a mile away it should have been pretty easy. All the bulls started heading to the ranch except one of our Angus bulls. In trying to get him moving, he fell over dead. I felt pretty bad and explaining that to my dad wasn't easy either.
I'm going to really try and be there. Love your channel keep up the great videos. You are truly a man of your word and that's so rare now a days. My hat is off to you.
BO the Bull, to keep with the b's. 😁 So very sorry about the losses of the animals this week. They become part of the family and that never make it easy when their time to pass on comes. 😪 One of the harder parts of what you do I am sure. On a positive note, thank you for the exciting announcement!!! Wyoming vacation - here we come!!! 😁 Hope we can get it pulled off and plan to be there!
Sorry for the tough week ! Life holds many bad and good things but we must go on. Condolences to Erin's mom on the loss of her beloved cow. The new alpha bull looks like a Freddie to me. Looking forward to some of that snow here in eastern NE. as winter is my favorite time of the seasons.
I'm glad I found your channel. I you make it a yearly thing on your ranch. I'm sorry I missed it last year. I would love to go and see the Ranch in person.
Buffalo Bob for the big black bull.......you have had a horrible week. It always gets better but seems pretty bad at the time. Be safe and God Bless you and your family. Totally cool news about the Ranch visit.
HI Mike and Erin. You've had a rough week. Our belief here at our house has been "Thing happen for a reason" be it good or bad. This wasn't anything you caused or could have prevented.
Love watching your videos. I grew up and live in Austin Texas into a city family. I’m now 19 years old and starting college. As weird as it seems to my family I’ve always wanted to be a rancher. I’m hoping that I can one day have a ranch after making enough money to start one. The goal is by 40 years old. Pretty late start and a long way to go, but gotta start planning.
How do you like that hilsboro trailer? Has it held up like they advertise it to? You need a double R ranch gate stop on your trailer gate, it holds the gate open very handy in wind or unloading like you were.
Couple of suggestions: Alba - Gaelic for Scotland as he's an Angus, also Italian for sunrise. Rabbie - Honoured bard of Scotland, he had dark hair too.
I hate loss. But we all knows it happens but a total loss is a bit hard to swollow. As most of us know, we hafta change breeders up. Way to much to be done around here. Thank you and Erin and the kiddos for the invite.
A difficult week. Sorry for your losses. Questions, does anyone live in the older house across the highway? Did you live there before your current place was finished? Thanks for your great videos.
The big black angus should be named KNIGHT RIDER! Sorry about the bad week. We recently lost one of our favourite cows on the farm. Definitely a bummer. However just got our cattle cheque from the auction and we did awesome on a load of steers. Always a positive to follow a negative.
Wow...losing two bulls in one week,,,.that is a huge blow to deal with. Both were amazing looking bulls...such great genetics there. I was amazed at how calm and tractable your bulls are. I have rarely seen bulls that were that laid back and approachable. Nearly every bull I had contact with would rather plow you over and stomp you into the soil than share space with you.
I spend alot of time with the cows and bulls, not sure how they would be around someone else but I try to get them where I can at least trust them long enough to get in the truck lol - Mike
I'm sorry about the loss of Bubba. I'm excited about August 24,2019. It's great to know in time for planning ahead. I nominate the new alpha as, "Angus".
Was pretty sure Bubba was done for but hoped I was wrong. Sorry he had to be put down. My husband was a veterinarian so knew the difficulties you faced. I was lucky in that all my animals were treated for free. Good luck in replacing the brothers.

I love the way Mike connects with the animals. He treats them more like pets. He takes excellent care of them.
