- This weekend we head down to move the bulls off of the cows and end the breeding season on the ranch. After a rain delay, we are struck with good luck and bad as life on the ranch continues the only way it knows how.

Join us on our journey as we leave a life in corporate america to come back to Wyoming and help on the family ranch.
Our Wyoming Life features our Wyoming ranch and our ranch family. Giving you a look into the workings of ranching from raising cattle to raising and harvesting crops. Erin will join you weekly out of the garden, showing you how she helps provide for our family through growing produce and selling at local farmers markets, and Mike will take you along as he tends to the animals and land of ranch, from calving to fencing to planting and harvesting hay.
I love how you mention thanking the bull for his time on the ranch.
RIP black bull. I’m so happy you enjoyed your last months on the ranch.
My son is a 'Camp Man' at a big spread in NE New Mexico. This NE Texas girl just experienced her first 'Weaning'. It was jaw dropping to watch 10 cowboys push herds ginormous pasture to ginormous pasture and then finally into the yards where the trucks waited for the calves. Watching 500 mamas pour over the hill with dust boiling and no fence or electric line in sight gave a great visual of what life looked like 150 years ago.
Very cool. Thanks for watching - Mike
All in all no farmer wants to find a dead animal. It does happen and that is part of the life we chose. I've had someone once ask if I was worried about the lost income. Folks, if money were the major concern I'd sell the farm and do something far more profitable. This is a labor of love. Sure it's our business, but it doesn't pay enough if you don't love what you are doing. Keep on smiling Mike. Looks like you are a decent fellow and a fairly good rancher.
You don't know how homesick these videos make me. Thanks for making them.
I hate to make anyone sick :). Thanks for watching -Mike
Your a great Narrator. Your property is so Beautiful. Sorry for the loss of your Bull. Poor guy.
Great to catch a glimpse into your life Mike....thanks so much buddy! Can't wait to get back out to Wyoming again!
Thank you sir. See you soon -Mike
Hi
Thanks for taking us along. Very sorry about the bull.
Thanks for watching Angela. -Mike
Beautiful shots Mike!!! You know I love the cows!!! The ranch is really coming together. I can see the organization and efficiency has been better now then when the youtube series started. Thanks so much for allowing us to grow with you, your family, and the ranch!!!
You are very welcome. Thanks for being a part of it -Mike
Very well said, I think all of are glad to be here.
Aawww Mike - so sorry you lost a bull. I know how hard you and Erin work and the bulls as well. Glad to see your healthy attitude towards the circle of life albeit sad sometimes. Looking forward to happier news when preg checking!! Thanks for another great video!! Have a great week 🤗
Thank you Susan. All part of life around here. ;) - Mike
So sorry you lost the bull. Love the latch on the gate - that is classic - goes to show ranchers/farmers figure things out and use what they have - you just never know what can come in handy or where! Great job and have an awesome week!
Extremely Outstanding ranch & herd...beautiful property 👌🏾 👏🏼 😋 🙌🏾 👍🏾
So sorry for your loss. It is a fact of life, but you’re right, you don’t have to like it or get used to it. Great video.
Thanks and Very true Wendy. Thanks for watching. -Mike
Keep the good job guys and to me it's a learning curve.
If you think about it you've gotten off easy with just one bull down but one is better than the whole lot. We had one bull break its back coming off a heifer and another step in a ditch and twist its ankle. It's been a deathly year this one with 4 calfs killed with black leg disease. Grand vid again mike
I love your sense of humour and dedication to the family and farm.
Sorry for your loss!
Sorry for the loss on the ranch.
I enjoyed your video all year round and you been doing a amazing job with those healthy animals. Thanks for sharing
I am so sorry Mike it is really hard to lose such a big bull and a big part of the ranch🐃. Take care love watch your videos!!!🐴
remember pulling a bull out of a pond back in 92 it was July and he had been in it for a few days when we found him. What a stinky job. Take care
Yuck. Thanks -Mike
Michael O'Connor I bet. Wow. I was in a native village in AK in August and there was a juvenile black bear dead in a small river. People had already pulled its teeth and claws. I snipped off a back claw with my leather man but that was by far the stinkiest thing I’ve ever smelt.
@@OurWyomingLife at least it is cooler at the moment. Thanks for making these videos. I live in Ireland now but I am from Sturgis. Grew up working on a ranch near Mud Butte so your videos give me a lot of enjoyment and making me homesick too. I wish you and your family all the best.
Always hard to lose an animal. Emotionally and financially. We lost a heifer to lightning in August. She fell in the river, we didn't find her for a few days of 100°. Smelliest, most disgusting thing I've dealt with in awhile.
Thanks for reminding me ranch life is worth it. You always seem so positive. All the bad has an end and swings up again.
Sorry about the bull. Love the lawnmower blade idea. The rabbit is in the workshop taking shelter. Great video thank you
Mike,
I saw a shot of your lead steer. He’s been around for a while. Could you talk about him a little in a future video.
Thanks for all you and your family do to feed people as well as teach us. .
Also, sorry to hear about your bull.
Wow Mike what a bummer. Awesome videos . Just love your stories
Thank you very much - Mike
Great Work 😄 Mike ,I love you and your family . Happy Holidays to Our Wyoming Life.
I am an animal lover so I find your loss of the black bull very upsetting and sad. Thank God you have such a good and realistic attitude about death. I try to too, but I don't often win that battle. I guess you have more practice at it but I am still so bothered by it, as I am sure you are too. My heart goes out to all at your ranch!
I absolutely love your videos! I come upon them one day and can't stop watching them. You have a great voice that draws people in and teaches us something. I would love to have lived on a ranch! It's a shame about your bull! God bless you and your family. Mary from Ohio.
Hi again Mike! So right part of it! Never easy to lose anything! Recently lost my special little dog buddy and it's so very hard. When there's love and a relationship it's even harder. For you a bit different but loss is loss. Things will be getting really busy again for you soon and weather is changing. Stay safe and warm out there and hope all will go smoothly. Hope Erin is finally feeling good. Thx as ways...
What a bummer🙊🙉🙈.. Thank goodness Dave is feeling better to help you out😉. I'm over this rain already but,its better than that cus work that starts with an s. No not💩but❄.🤣😂. Try to have a good week ahead.
Thank you very much Lorie - Mike
I have just started up my own ranch and I love watching your videos🐮🐮🐮
Thank you Sam. Im sure you will love it. -Mike
Good place to learn. You can jump on facebook on the Owl and ask questions. Hope to see you over there
Sorry you lost the bull. Wish i could send you some Georgia weather.. Its 90 degrees here. Lol.. Stay warm and dry.. Thanks for the video.
Hi, Mike

I appreciate you showing us your day.
Your Welcome D Houston, and Thanks for watching. -Mike
Another great video, I'm so glad u show all aspects of ranching and not just the fun happy moments. Death is part of life, premature or old age it happens to everyone and everything.
Well said Steve. Thanks for watching. -Mike
totally ingenious with the lawn mower blade great job hugssssss from Ontario Canada
I always enjoy the videos about the bulls. I'm sorry about your black Angus in the pond. That has to hurt in ways we sitting out here cannot imagine.
It does Mary, Ya never get use to it. Thanks for watching. -Mike
Great video .You are a real rancher pal.
we always enjoy the show..God bless you all.Happy 2019 ThanksGiving
Amen brother! Had to put a favorite momma cow down a few years ago due to a broken back leg. It still bothers me to this day when I think about it.
It's always a bummer losing an animal. Hopefully your other red angus shows up and moves easily for you. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for reminding us to like and subscribe at the beginning of the episode!
I really love everytime you upload about the bulls and your animal vids in general. Wish you had more about your pigs, chikens and horses; holding pens, future livestock and so on, anyways... Love your channel Mike! Kudos!
All that is coming. Make sure you subscribe. Thanks. - Mike
@@OurWyomingLife Already did, almost 2 years ago ;) Cheers.
I think ranchers and farmers have heavier hearts than most people think. We view everything a little differently than most. Sorry about you’re loss
Love your sense of humor! Another great video. I have 2 other favorite videos and you're my 3rd. Thanks 😊
Thank You Marcel. -Mike
this man's voice is pure velvet
Thank you very much
Hard luck. Chin up, Tomorrow's another day. Thanks for the update.
So sorry about the bull. I hate when stuff like that happens on our farm. Its gunna be a sad day when we lose our big boy. Got 4 bulls right now it's a handful
Do you use Mike's 30 acres for every 1 cow?
Aubrie Strauser is it sad when they are tortured and killed

Hard to lose a great Bull! We have only lost one, a 9 year old 1,800 lb black Angus, I named him Brutus, perfect temperament, 18yrs ago
Your videos are always a pleasure to watch.
Sorry you lost the bull you could have got a few bucks for him at an auction, but thats the way it goes. I have just recently found your channel thanks to Reed and Amy Flake and have been binge watching, thanks for the great content brings back alot of good memories for me as I was raised on small ranch/farm in Mt. keep up the good work. Your family makes a good team.
That cattle pen gate is great. A lot faster to make than a wire gate.
Recently we had the vets come in and take a look at my jersey bull cause he had some problems that we are unsure of right now.
Sorry you lost a bull. I know it’s not easy. Hope the red one showed up.
I'm sure he will. I probably circled around him. They are always on the move. Thanks -Mike
Ami Riegel when you lose a money animal it does hurt. Plus it’s money out of pocket to replace it.
@Ami Riegel some farmers get attached to animals they`ve been feeding.
@Ami Riegel *we not they.
If all farmers dont care about their animals then you would also be included in that.
It happens, as you said, if you have livestock you’ll have dead stock.
Good video Mike sorry about your bull that hit in the heart and the pocket book .be safe
That sucks. Sorry for the loss. I guess its time to call Gary.
Happy New Year and best wishes for a great new year.
Great Video Mike, sorry you lost a bull. Hope all the guys Tag out this year! 👍
Thanks for watching Paymaker11. I hope they do also. Been seeing alot of Antelope the last few weeks. -Mike
Great Video mike ! Like always , rest in peace to your black bull..
Hate you lost your bull. I always hate to lose a bull or cow anytime. Hard to believe it is already 40 degrees there. We had 71 last night for a low. Thanks for the great video.
Hard work a dedication will get you what mike has😊
Thanks for your awesome videos they are amazing and Mackenzie has been lucky to have cows🐄🐄
With all the business and projects and daily routine Mike, you sure have some real nice views. Ironic how water being such a necessary life's element may also rear a nasty side from time to time. Hope your sorting and hunting crew go well for the week ahead. Not a bad looking late season garden plot Erin still has, if the weather didnt frost over your way last night. Hoping for clearing today to raid the garden space here today before frost this week. -Bob...
Nice informative video. RIP big bully
Mike, another excellent video thank you , Thursday possible snow over here in north east Mn. Take care hope all is going well.
Rip black bull you had a good life. Thank you for sharing.
Mike, sorry for your loss. It must be an expensive one.
Mike I had a water tank 40 inches tall and had fence divider in it to seperate to pens so they could drink from both sides. Had young Brahama bull I was trying to move and he decided to jump in tank to get away. and figured if he might get himself under the bottom plank , he might be in the other pen. I tried everything I could do to get him out, But he drown , so we skined him out!!
Careful around the sage. I had it pop into my eye, compliments of the US Army. As to the passing of the bull, Godspeed.
Sorry to see this Mike. Losing an animal is never fun, no matter how hardened you are. May he rest in peace!
Great great video lot’s of good info Sr .
I love your videos. I am an "end-user" (I live in a city), and regard your videos as a great education. Thanks for the background on "stones" as a unit of weight (actually, I have an app on my smart phone that measures (human) body weight in stones). I was very surprised to learn that a five-mile trek for the bulls took two days, since my knowledge of "cattle drives" is limited to tv.
Thank you.
Thank you for the great video.
YOU have a nice voice from Québec canada
Mike that drone flying would save you loads of time when checking big areas of pasture. Before drones we used some of the Mesas to get a birds eye view to find where some of the herd was hanging out. Sorry about the bull, but like you said it's part of dealing with livestock.
Hey, Mike.
Maybe an idea to find ur bulls easier from some german dude with a crazy mind: put a gps tracker (like the ones u use on hunting dogs) to find them. You got only a handful of bulls.... It might be worth a try. Greetings
Have you heard of GABE BROWN who farms multi culture methods?
Gabe is in Bismarck, N. D. and has an amazing life story of transforming his farm from mono- culture to multi-culture.
Thought you would enjoy it.
Yup. We know Gabe. Thanks a bunch ! - Mike
Hello world from Los Angeles!
Hello John. Thanks for watching -Mike
Sorry to hear about your bull Mike.
Thanks snapstring. -Mike
Old tires laid out in the stock ponds help prevent cows from getting stuck in the mud and drowning. You'll need a lot of tires, but you can get them for a song all day long.
Have you thought about getting a drone or microchip/satellite type of device to know exactly where the cows/bulls are?
R.I.P. dead bull.
Always sad to lose a farm animal. weather can be pretty cruel, even to seasoned animals. Sorry for the loss....
1:14 add "reinstall spline cord on window screen" to the list.
Never fails lol. Thanks -Mike
@@OurWyomingLife Simple job , just delegate to kids.
OK, good. I wasn't the only one who saw that. Winds are coming, Mike. The whole screen will be Nebraska before December.
That dang less than 5 minute rule. LOL 😁
I saw that too. Sorry to make the list grow.
I'm a carpenter and handyman and I really wanted to fix that! Great video.
I get so tickled when you talk about the bulls and their girls! But the best one yet was when you turned them out with the girls this past spring! I laughed thru the whole video!😆 The music you selected was perfect and funny too! I always hate to hear when you lose one of the cattle. I think you were even short one bull since you sold Bubbles weren't you? And I can't ever remember the name of the big red one that broke his leg last year (I always got his and Bubbles names mixed up). We're still having 90+ degree days over here in northeast Tennessee. Had very little rainfall this month as well. I'm ready for cooler weather. Hope your week is a good one!
So sorry about the loss of your black bull.
We had a missing steer about a month back in our west pasture herd. Found him dead after a lengthy search. Not sure what killed him but we reckon it was some sort of sickness cause even the buzzards wouldn't touch the body.
Lost another 3 weeks ago after castration. It's rare to lose one that way but it can happen.
If you ain't figured we raise beef cattle. Small op only bout a herd of 25 right now.
Not our home! I appreciate how you are informing people about how their meat is made.
appreciate the stone measurement,
love the channel, literally top 3 on youtube if you ask me
Saturady, 7am, 78 degrees, high 95-96, dry dry dry, Meridian, Texas
interesting thanks !
And yes it happens. And usually it is the "1" which you have very high hope's on. Genetics that you count on to advance your herd. Or a calf that as soon as it's born your pinning your fall sale on to sell as a show stock. (My case this year) I always tell people that ranching is no different than Vegas. Just takes a whole year to find out you lost. But the difference is Vegas, you go home. Ranching, you are home and there is no time to sit and pout. Others depend upon you.
I love happy pigs 🙂
There could be a lesson here for all young men.
yes , stay off the mechanical bulls, it is not worth the lifetime arthritis
Mr Mike and Mrs Erin I am sorry for your loss for y'all's black Angus bull😂
Sorry about your bull, I was going to ask if your bulls fought at all but I saw it in the video!
Hey...thanks for using kilograms for bull weights...saves a bit of mental arithmetic :-)
Vast is right.......took my son to Washington state through Wyomying.....did not like that country,,,.,but sunset were goreous
