Maybe you can spend a couple of hours in the countryside. The country air, the peaceful scenery, and the calming sounds really does wonders for the souls. Where is the closest rural area located from inner city Chicago?
I grew up on a farm, and I can remember at 3/4 years old being shown how to use our tractor to help pull a calf.. early lesson on life, death, using what you have to make it. Our farm was just 40 acres, but it felt like a million as a kid. good times... hard times, but I miss it
One of the things I love about the life you are showing us with this channel is the friendship and cooperation between neighbors. It's not that urban/suburban neighbors can't be so, but when you're a rancher and your neighbor is a rancher you know so well what the other is going through. One of you needs help today, the other will need help tomorrow...it's a community in the true sense of the word. Thanks for another great video!
Hello Mike, I grew up in a small town named Maryville, TN. That being said I have always wanted to work on a farm, so if you ever need some help I would love to help, and learn the Wyoming Life.
When your distant neighbor complains about a missing bull (s), that is a great day.. otherwise, dealing with surban life and all around bullshit, takes away anything good in a day. Less people, less problems. Not underestimating your job. I am grateful for you and many farmers...
Mike, I am a new subscriber to your channel. About the time I think my job is tough, been at it 45 years. I started my job at 15 years of age. I tip my hat to you and your family. I just thought my job was a grind. God Bless ya'll.
My neighbors cringe when my number shows up on their caller id, because it usually means they have cows out. They call me the neighborhood watch. I only get excited if it is my cows that are out. Lol
I watch a vlog of a farmer in England. He gets so much rain. I texted him that you would love his rain. Thank you for your daily videos Mike. I know it takes a lot of time to edit them. Pat
Mike you have a beautiful farm. I can only dream. Its funny the run away bulls know where to find the ladies...Your cow and calfs are healthy and beautiful the bulls as well..you can tell you take very good care of them. I love your channel.
Great video I have had to do the same thing in my old life too. But for us the bulls would be mean down in the river bottoms and yes all by horse back too. Thanks Mike made me thing back over 50 years ago now . Godbless you Erin and the kids so much and yes your mother in law to it talk all of you for sure.
One side benefit of running belties, I can take one glance at the herd and see if something isn't mine lol. Likewise I've found a belt in a neighbors pasture a few times.
Mike, i bet you are happy to see that rain. you dont have hay to bale because of drought and i can't bale hay because of the almost daily rain showers we have been getting since the first of July in south Mississippi. It seems real difficult for everything to be just right when if comes to farming, it seems we are always needing what we dont have.
Glad to see your getting some rain! Cant believe you've had that little of rain this year, where I live in South Dakota our storm the other day we got 4 inches of rain and the storm before that we got 6 inches!
iT MIGHT BE A HARD LIFE AT WORK AT TIMES....but I know there is nothing like working for yourself and not having to deal with the public every day! 😁and I think its healthy for the kids also! My Father always had his own business and I'm one that benefitted from it as a child 💖👍💖 I just need my own ranch now! 👍😁
😁😁😁😁About a second after I posted my comment about Bambi you Rode up to her. Before that I hadn't seen her in forever. I remembered that she'd always show up seeking Cake from you. Glad to see her.😉😉 Glad she's still Earning Her Keep on the Ranch.😄😄
We had a prize bull get across the back fence into a neighbors heard and it took us 5 months to get it back. Missed our breading session for the year. We had to hound the sheriff to force the neighbor to let us on his property. Our bull was way better stock than his stock so he delayed as long as he could. Glad to see the rain there Mike. We are doing the dance for more here in south east Texas too.
You got some healthy bulls Mike, they eating mighty good. I glad you found Randy bulls, it's great you help him out.You will run up on the other soon ! Thanks for sharing
Mike, make sure you got that ATV ramp strapped to your bumper or or the ball of your truck. Dont want it sliding out from under the 4Wheeler backwards.
Here in Metro New Orleans/Metairie area and I wish I could come out there in the peace and quiet ☹️😔 With everything that’s happening now, that would be MORE than a welcomed change!!!
If you and your family, or even the neighbors, need to contact each other a lot outside cell service, try looking into mobile radios. CB for neighbors, or FRS/GMRS for your family. Could save your life if you get into trouble outside service. I have both CB/Ham mobile units in my truck and carry handhelds in the console for walking away from the truck. I can recommend quite a few units if interested. There's lots of good cheap ones on ebay.
Hey Mike, I love the ending when the kids come running up saying have a great day☺. So I guess your cows got something special going on because they are attracting your neighbors bulls, I hope your neighbors Bulls throws out some good calves😉. You got some good drone footage of the cows in summer pasture and it gives you a idea on how big the pasture is. So whats next for OWL keep up the good work and see you in the next video🤔🐂🐂👀👍🤠😉
Question from a city slicker: Is there such a thing as tracking collars for cattle? It seems like a LOT of time and gas are spent searching of animals in huge open spaces. All Randy would have to do is fire up his computer to see where his bulls were. I imagine the initial investment would be very high but measure that against time, equipment, gas and safety of the animals. The rancher could know that his animals broke threw a fence while he’s sitting at his kitchen table instead of the sheriff knocking on his door four hours after the fact. I assume the collars would stay at the ranch for the next generation when the present groups is shipped off. Inventory control.
At 3:00ish quick launch the drone At 7:00ish blue tags or blue Were you looking for bulls or oysters? Multitasking sitting in studio remotely operating truck, 4 wheeler & drone while editing reel time feed & video from library while remembering to ask Erin about incorporating goose & goslings residue into compost AND that’s before 12:00ish Looks like fun 😉 Can you link your cellphone into OnStar? I’ve been out in the docksboon and had OnStar signal
In a video a while back Cole Sonne was talking about his alfalfa and the need to leave some leafy substances on them, no additional cuttings, so that the plants would be able to drive calcium into the root system for regeneration the following spring. Do you have those concerns for your hay fields after turning the cattle loose in them?
No doubt about it, a drone that can be flown and send back video from any where on your property would be a big help. It would be used a lot, like in calving season and any other time you need to get your eyes on the cows.
6:46 everyday, I even tell myself something and forget it by the time I need to write it down because if I don’t write it down I will forget it forever. Gotta love ieds.
Mike, you ever though about getting your ham license so you are never out of touch no matter where you are at on the ranch? You could get a base station and a portable so that you and Erin can keep in touch, There are several repeaters in Gillette, both 2 meter and 70 cm, and as flat as it is in Campbell County I think you could easily cover the 16 miles to a repeater. Not sure if any have a phone patch but I wouldn’t doubt it. Doesn’t cost that much and it would be great insurance in case something happens. At the least you wouldn’t have to drive just to make a call for help. The technician license is easy enough that it would take about a weekend’s worth of study to gain. Costs 15 bucks to take the test. Equipment goes from inexpensive to down right silly, but just good enough would be a few hundred bucks.
While I was watching this video I realized how much I miss being around cattle. The bellowing brought back many a memory. How much rain do you usually have by this time every year?
Does blonde cow have your brand? I couldn't tell. I couldn't imagine driving 5 or 6 miles to see the heard. That's a big place. Lots and lots bigger than ours.
That's a great topic for Mike to do. When he said he'd opened up the field for summer pasture as he drove his truck over one, I was wondering if HE knew cattle can't cross them!
What branch of the military? I was Army from 2002-2010, Infantryman stationed at Ft.Stewart with 3rd ID. Id love to buy a ticket to visit the ranch next time you do an even like that.
Working with manure or chasing a bull? That is an easy decision! A small revision of a Connie Francis song: "Where the cows are, that's where we'll (bulls) be." Those boys have drive!
I'm a farmer in Malaysia, and we were taught here from the beginning to build houses for cattle. Don't let them get wet in the rain.
I'm just sitting here in downtown Chicago trying to imagine how peaceful it is out there
Maybe you can spend a couple of hours in the countryside. The country air, the peaceful scenery, and the calming sounds really does wonders for the souls. Where is the closest rural area located from inner city Chicago?
Let me know if you like to spend time on ranch.🐄🐆🐻🐷🎣🐈
Lol a Chicagoan myself, so annoying here in downtown
Howdy fellow chicagoans from Lincoln Square!
@@gsouza6334 how is the schedule looking like mid October? lol

Ranchers and farmers depend on the help from each other.
Thank you for volunteering me to help look for two bulls ive nothing better to do so why not lol
I don't know why but your videos gives me a sense of calmness and relaxing feeling, you are living a very peaceful life which everybody dreams about.
So much looks like estellene tx. Allover most tx. In fact. Love the life u lead. 74 yrs. Old lady. Still alive and remember. Wish u well
Mike, when I grew up on the ranch we didn't have four-wheelers we had to use horse no matter what the heat or cold was
Me too. And we didn't have the hi-tech clothing or chemical hand and foot warmers - just my horse's thick shaggy mane.
Mike!!! Your videos make this old farmhand very happy. Brings back so many good memories. Keep doin what you do please.
Beautiful scenery!!! Love the ranch and the wide open prairie with all the cattle!! The song "After The Rain" fit your video perfectly!
I loved the comment "I should pull up here out of the way." Were you expecting traffic, LOL?! And the song "after the rain" is fantastic!
A good day with rainfall for the grass. Bulls and cows in the ranch meeting new comers in the rain.
I sit out with my goats and cows and watch your show every day

That was funny. Thanks for inviting me along for the ride to find the neighbor's bull.
Good Morning! From Georgia. I love your vlogs! Thanks for letting us share your life on the ranch.
And, good morning from Georgia to you. I'm up in the mountains. Where are you?
@@cornerstone403 I'm in Covington and wish I were in the mountains!! LOL
Look at those fat luscious clouds! Gorgeous. And that rain, my goodness. I'm looking forward to the compost video. I want to have a go at composting.
The rain must smell amazing! Now you need to look for the broken fence!🥺
My neighbors cringe when my number shows up on their caller id, because it usually means they have cows out. They call me the neighborhood watch. I only get excited if it is my cows that are out. Lol
Needed a good chuckle thanks. “ I’m gonna pull up here out of the way” Didn’t think that two track was that busy 😜
It would all depend on how they planned to get the bulls out of there
Missing all my Marbles not sure how that would matter he was just taking the quad off to look for the second bull

That's what I was going to say!!!
First thing I thought of. lol.
😂😂😂😂😂
That’s why each farmer or rancher has assigned color tags in case of cows running away to other farmers or ranchers
Looks like the drone is a nice useful tool for ranchers to search bulls and heifers from the air.
Those cows know their Master. The minute you show up, "Moo.Moo.Moo." Lol.

I’d be afraid of catching the dry grass on fire from a hot exhaust ,,, glad it worked out for you !
The four wheeler exhaust is pretty high. Grass is very short :)

Hello Jason hope all is fine and good where U are. Thk U for ur service. Be safe, be happy, be blessed.
There is a farm i drive by in Wisconsin, split by a highway. It's called Mutilated Acres -- progress. Nice to help out your neighbor💖🐱👤
What type of cattle do you keep, is it gelbvieh or Angus or is it both with balancer too?
Angus is mostly what I’ve seen!
Little rain, a couple of new friends for the cows, and fun at the park.
Always gotta make sure they're your bulls
Good afternoon from south Africa
The cows definitely don’t like being interrupted by you your truck or drone haha
Thank you Jesus for the rain
Your pulling up out of the way of what? Cow rush hour... you are so funny
Greetings from Augsburg/Germany 🐄
Here in Missouri we had over 5 inches of rain in the last couple of weeks. I don't know how you all stand it.

Beautiful creatures. Cute little ones. Wish you all great day two. How old are your babies?
Wish I could give you some of the 5 4/10” of rain which I received in the last 2 days here on my 40 acre farm in NW Missouri.
Im hoping that you found the other bull . Thanks for sharing
Your adventures are so fun. Thanks for sharing!!
Love the music. ☺
I think you are liking the new truck, seem to use it a lot lately :)
Plans......what’s that? Great ride along today.
While I was watching this video I realized how much I miss being around cattle. The bellowing brought back many a memory. How much rain do you usually have by this time every year?
You guys are probably among the few people left that could really utilize short-wave radio. Seein as you lose cell service out amongst your critters.
Like that song
I'm here after watching a Netflix show 'The Ranch' I'm fascinated by the ranching lifestyle would love to work with you sir.
Good man! You have a GMC!!!
Does blonde cow have your brand? I couldn't tell. I couldn't imagine driving 5 or 6 miles to see the heard. That's a big place. Lots and lots bigger than ours.
I keep forgetting to ask you if you've ever done part of a segment on Cattle Guards. I doubt most people know the hows and whys of them.
That's a great topic for Mike to do. When he said he'd opened up the field for summer pasture as he drove his truck over one, I was wondering if HE knew cattle can't cross them!
Cows are like, oh goodie CAKE!

Sounds like a winner to me!
New bloodlines in the herd -not a bad thing -
Riding out in the wide open spaces is enjoyable.
Hay mike could you do a tour of all the machines on the ranch? Thanks in advance
A pair of good binoculars would be a great help also. 10 x 50 or even 12 x 50's would be perfect.
