This man infuriates me. The reason for him being upset that Erika was the only witness available because the others hadn't arrived yet is because he had intended for her to be his last witness. He asked for her to be part of the first group because he liked the idea of her just sitting and waiting. He wanted to control where she was just one last time. He was angry that they didn't cross his first 2 witnesses because it meant it went quicker than he expected.
Yup! You are 100% correct! He wants revenge on her for testifying against him & for refusing to answer his 37 direct calls to her & who knows how many indirect calls via friends & his mother, and refusing to contact him for nearly a year. And he desperately wanted to accuse her of being a liar & a bad mother in open court. Plus he’s just a DV abuser to the bone 🤷♀️ All about power & control.
The best part was when the Prosecutor told the judge the defendant got Erica Patterson pregnant while she was a minor! Dude I almost drove there to give that prosecutor a high five, and a hug!!😂
They disclosed that in their opening statement when they said that Ms Peterson is 32 and she met the defendant when she was 15. They have a 15yo child together. My mouth dropped.
Well Brooks actually opened up the door to that and while at the end of the day the prosecution were trying to remove that from being seen because my guess would have to be that they had a child and stayed together so the prosecution and the judge warned him that he would open all sorts of trouble for himself but he decided to go there and in a court of law you can't walk back.

I get why people were frustrated by the judges handling of DB but I truly believe she knows exactly what shes doing with him. Shes protecting this case with everything she has so he has zero chance of a succesful appeal. Her patience with this manchild was admirable. I absoloutely love her.

I am deeply impressed with this judge -- she actually inspires me. She's not interested in the battles -- she's here to win the war. She knows that as long as she keeps this trial moving forward, with no appellate issues created, he'll end up with multiple life sentences. She doesn't mind if she "looks weak" or if she seems to lose some battles. She would rather just get this DONE. Every minute he spends in the other courtroom raises the likelihood of appellate issues by some percentage -- IDK, maybe 1% for every hour that he's there. She is using a mixture of reverse psychology and flattery to try to manipulate him into good behavior. And yes, I get frustrated too sometimes because I want to see him smacked down (literally as well as metaphorically) but it's about the war, not the battles. This judge's patience is extraordinary. I really like your channel and have watched a long time, but I disagree with anyone who would state or imply that this judge is any way doing a bad job. Her ability to keep her goal in mind and not let her anger or frustration take over is absolutely a marvel.
My thoughts too. It’s painful for her and everyone involved (and us), but the more she lets him demonstrate that he’s digging his own grave, the harder it will be to appeal or have a mistrial. A few days/weeks of awfulness is worth it to send him away forever.
Totally agree. It's so tough reading negative comments about her and not seeing the whole picture as youve described. They're literally days away now and it'll be over and not redone. She's doing a hell of a lot better than any of the people who complain about her could.
I don‘t think that she‘s doing a bad job.She knows that DB wants a screaming match ( which most narcs love) but she keeps it cool & sticks to the issue by ignoring his rants & taking several breaks.His job is to look good to the jury & he failed terribly.

I hate the comments saying she lost control, no, she always had the opportunity to send him to the other courtroom, she knew exactly what she was doing by letting him be this disrespectful, and it was more than avoiding a mistrial, she let him make a complete fool out of himself in front of the jury. She took those insults with grace and it showed him there was no words he could have said to get to her, and its obvious he was trying to get a reaction from her. @@Valeriamtzp just take the judges advising him about how "object and reason for the objection" works - and right away he becomes even more agressive towards both prosecution and the judge. She cannot forbid him to object - so her objections are very limited against that behaviour. The same is it with all the other issues - she can put him in the other court room - but not for the rest of the trail (think it is stated in Illinois vs Allen, that the defendant can claim to go back to the main court room - and in some situations the defendant have to promise/pledge to obay to the court rules ect before he/she can come back to the main court room (something DB never did and never wanted to do)

I highly respect and admire Judge Dorrow. I’ve been watching this live everyday all day. She’s just really trying to make sure there’s no room for a mis trail. I do think she should be firmer with this lowlife. I admire her commitment to being fair and promoting a fair trial, I truly think she’s doing the best she can.
I agree, if the judge had gotten tough with him the jury probably never would have heard Mrs Yorell's testimony. I can't wait to see if his mother shows up.

I truly believe he's trying to create a mistrial. I truly believe she's giving him leeway so she can prevent a mistrial. It's like people who ask why she's not holding him in contempt? What good would that do? It would delay the trial and give him what he wants, a delay. I do wish she'd put him in the other courtroom more often, but she's trying to prevent a mistrial or any grounds for appeal.
There is no benefit to the proceedings to hold him in contempt, he's already in custody. Holding someone in contempt is only a useful tool when someone isn't already in jail.

I noticed a lot of lawyers from the east coast and west coast are very frustrated with the judge, but some of the Midwestern ones are more understanding. I wonder if that's a cultural difference.

I am in WI as well and agree how bad this reflects on our state..first we had a white Jeffrey Dahmer attacking mostly black men and now we have a black Darrell Brooks attacking white people. Pure Hate in both cases
It was a crazy day of nonsense. Him staring her down was insane. I even felt uncomfortable. It was good to see the judge bring the hammer down on him but also wish she would have left him in the other room. Also loved the male prosecutor giving him a dose of his own medicine.

One of a most difficult situations to be faced to deal with is trying to converse with a narcissist….one of the most mind boggling, circling, gaslighting, projection…. All which are emotional abusive tactics they use. He is using the judge as his victim for supply for his grandiose ego and He’s one of the worst narcissists I’ve ever seen. They know how to wear their victim down….they know how to subliminally create doubt and guilt so that their victim begins to question themselves….I feel for the judge, because she had no choice but to endure him. Narcissist do not let up until they get what they want. He is upping the ante to push her to the point lose her cool. I see him spending aLOT of time in solitary confinement if convicted. Interactions with a narcissist is always a No Win conversation….there is NO reasoning with them…Brooks is treating the judge just as he relates with all, especially women….where’s his “friends and family” coming to his defense….I bet with his N behaviors he’s burned all his bridges!!!

Hopefully! I really hope he doesn’t have any loyal friends on the outside, or make friends with any psychos who are just itching for a target. Fortunately, the Judge’s hubby is a verified badass so will hopefully be able to get Brooks a special visit in jail to make him extremely afraid of ever coming after her or anyone else. That glare he levelled at her on Day 10 (as per Law & Crime footage day count) after the argument about “telling” him what to do, was absolutely vicious, malevolent & murderous! If you look closely, you can see his body rocking slightly as if he’s trying to calculate if he can reach her to hurt or kill her before he gets taken down. Most vicious look I’ve ever seen on anyone’s face, ever!

That fifteen year old child doesn’t live with her mother nor her father. She has become a parent while still a child herself. This baby is another innocent part of the tragedy of DB. I feel badly for that baby!
Fifteen! I really hope the women's shelter has good services and that she makes a good community for herself (and maybe reconciles with her family if at all possible.) I'm well aware sometimes it's healthier not to. This trial can't end soon enough for anyone.
It's a boy not a girl so where did you get that info from?? She has 4 other children with a girl being the youngest and all have different father's, the same as Duhrels kid's all have different Mama's.
Not every person is able to deal with those whose brain is broke - as a mother who had a child that had a noticeable issue at 6 months old, it's very hard. My baby started having extreme temper tantrums out of frustrations over toys, barely slept, and would deliberately hurt himself. I did everything I could such as corrected his nutrition - no sugar or dyes & when he was 5 yrs of age, took him to behavioral specialists. When he was 14, he was diagnosed being Bi-polar, ADHD, and anti-social disorder. He was meeting with the law regularly, for stupid criminal acts - and I *_mean stupid!_* Such as stealing a life size fake horse & mannequin, then breaking into and placing it in the kitchen of a well known officials house (they were out of town) as a *"joke'*, going onto an abandoned historic 5 story building's roof and "teasing" the public to call police, then leading officers on a game of 'catch me' within the maze of the dark building (they didn't catch him, they arrested him at home); leading police on a 'chase' on edge-of-town, abandoned race track - then escaping officers into the fields - in a 4 cylinder pick-up truck! Why? To see if he could! He out drove them & was arrested at home 😞 We live in a small, 50K population town so I became on good terms with the police chief who told me _"Maybe direct his energy towards NASCAR"_ 🥴 The older he got, drugs entered his life. He got mean & beyond difficult (ARGUING WITH DARRELL BRINGS BACK UNCOMFORTABLE MEMORIES OF ARGUING WITH MY SON). My son was in and out of rehabs. But then, a rare & wonderful counselor who saw the decent human inside him (at his last in-house treatment center) decided to recommend two things: A neurological brain scan and IQ test - because, when my son was not in a manic faze, he was very likeable and overly intelligent. His IQ was found to be 148 - a genius! His brain scan showed it was "misfiring" - *'Not wired the same as the population norm'.* A lot of work ensued to educate him and his support system (mostly family) that he was battling a physiological issue. It took years to re-train his trigger reactions and provide coping skills. He is now 40; an exceptional electrician (works 60+ hrs a week) has amazing skills at higher math (he 'sees' a notepad in his head & works out complex problems); is an amazing artist (in any medium), reads books (he hates technology & uses a simple phone). He also runs 5 miles before work and then works out at the gym every night for 2 hours, and is a health addict. He has stayed consistent for 10+ years. He also accepts & avoids situations that overly stimulate him; recognizes when his brain is about to misfire and removes himself from confrontation. He can't handle crowds, he doesn't go out or party, and so this has meant to him a single life; he limits his appearance at family gatherings to the meal time and a short time to socialize. The entire family & the extended family is aware and is not offended when he leaves without announcement. I can only relate to Darrell through my life experience and it saddens me that he committed such a tragic act and has irreparably harmed others. The neurologist told me that... _"Prisons are filled with men just like your son; most go undiagnosed, but if they are, most aren't capable of doing the self-work."_
Yes you have suffered. My son stopped drinking 17 hrs ago. He is 45 now and still having seizures. I see so much of him in Darrel. I see his brain fog increasing. His anger in two seconds especially at me. He can’t even go to get groceries without coming out angry. My life is waiting for me to die as no one can figure out why the seizures keep occurring. He was the best little boy and then the alcohol destroyed him. Those of us that suffer so deeply will never get the understanding we deserve as they don’t fit into society. Sometimes when I am in the hospital when he is having a seizure, I beg God to take him. His life is horrible. I am so sorry for what you went through. Your ending is beautiful. Mine is reversed.
Bless you. I have also experienced unbelievable behavior in a four year old. It starts early with the anti social behavior and such. Most people cannot accept that little children are capable of having such awful tendencies.

Although we feel alone, we are not - and it's unfortunate that we suffer alone and are often; *_UNFAIRLY, judged by others._* I know how fortunate I am that my son was somehow able to dig deep and decide to take control of his brain. I think once he realized his bad behavior wasn't his fault, just as disease is not someone's fault, and he was miserable. He hated that he had contemplated _ending it all_ many times... But the doctor told him: _"Just as a person who is consistently getting a cold or flu needs to understand why they are constantly ill, and needs to assess his overall diet and lifestyle, you also need to decide if you want to understand your mental health - that is caused by a physiological problem."_ God bless the doctor for not throwing meds at him - and being honest that: _"There are no guarantees and it will be difficult."_ My son just woke up one day and dug into his life - like an on switch had been flipped. I send you all hope and strength !
I agree that it’s painful to watch the judge appearing to “lose control”. She sees clearly the big picture that at the appellate level he’s cooked - won’t even get looked at. This guy is a narcissist who is doing this for his own enjoyment. The judge in the rittenhouse trial would laid foundation for bias on appeal. This judge is a genius who is 5 steps ahead of him and many commenting on her being ineffective look at the big pic - 5 weeks of time letting a baby spout off so the he never poisons our courts again. Lawful law, “tack-it” (tacit) agreement, substained, all have entered my vocabulary for when I’m talking to a buffoon!

Hi. I just subscribed! I'm fascinated by cases like this. I have had patients like this man. They are VERY difficult to deal with! They ALWAYS know more than everyone around them (e.g. doctors, attorneys, judges, social workers, etc.). I read a comment that he "needed help" because he is "sick". I can tell you, guys like this can almost ONLY be enabled. They resist ANY form of true help because it starts with them taking accountability for themselves.

I think the state proved intent when they made sure to bring out that he had a choice to turn left or go right into the parade route and he went into the parade route. That's a choice. Also proved many times over was the fact that he had working brakes and could have used them and stopped!!

ThTs what I think is going on in his head. He will not get an actual chance to argue like this in the appellae court and we know he won’t be able to write his own appealate brief, so it’s going to be a while before he can appeal. The judge is being lenient but she is spoon feeding him Information and giving a-lot of chances so that he cannot come back and claim racism and unfairness and gotcha moments. She told gave him an ample amount of time to decide on keeping his council. He chose to defend himself and then he cries because he doesn’t understand everything. He had months to prepare and study up on basic legal procedure. He chose to flip flop on the sovereign citizen route but yet invokes his rights as per the constitution. Also he refuses to be identified as his legal name yet he picks and chooses when to respond to this. He obviously doesn’t know what he is doing and has talked to other inmates who coached him instead of him actually researching. He only understands the most basic law concepts and he decided not to prepare properly.
Agreed. Never mind all the people he killed and who have injuries for life. Insurance on the vehicle owned by his mother , will not cover all the injuries and deaths.

As annoyed as we are with the judge for letting him talk to her like that, the harm that's being done is only to him. The jury is probably even more upset and frustrated than we are with him, even though they haven't seen everything we're seeing. I think the appearance of her silencing him might be more likely to appeal to the jurys sympathy than letting him rage and act out. He's not winning this war. He may win little battles but he can't even tell that he's losing ground.
I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait for the jury to watch this trial, in its entirety, AFTER the trial and see all of his nonsense they missed! But then again, they may be so sick of him that they NEVER want to see his face or hear his name, again. Lol
I have to partially disagree….I think other obviously guilty defendants will see his antics and do so themselves in future trials. As far as I know his behavior is truly unprecedented but because it’s being allowed it will spread like wildfire. He’s far from the only narcissistic sociopath out there….. I feel terrible for the jury and I doubt the judge could do anything to make them sympathetic for this monster. While I admire the judge’s patience (she has far more patience and composure than I) she has got to put her foot down and control her courtroom. She can do that whilst also not giving him grounds for successful appeal.
That's a really good point, especially because the jury wouldn't see why she had silenced him... it seems like when the judge puts him in the other room it makes him focus on that. When he's done having his fit he comes out and the trial goes on. It's excruciating to watch but... The Trial Goes On.
He had zero grounds to stand on to begin with .. he's got absolutely nothing to loose, and that renders him basically uncontrollable. The Judge-the whole Court: they have no leverage. It's not as easy as you'd think to bargain with zero leverage. She's doing great. Remember when he was still in orange jumper at the beginning? He's even now standing for the jury (most of the time, anyways). She's been exceptional, and ultimately, because of her clever behavior, Justice will prevail without fail 🌿

I think Judge Dorow had to make some really hard decisions on how she was going to handle a grown man that has a mind and temper tantrums of a 12 year old. I think she did a great job so there wouldn't be a mistrial or an appeal. I, like many others, would have loved to see her be much stricter but she had a strategy and went with it. In the end she was the one who delivered his fate to him. It all worked out. I have much respect for Judge Dorow.
I’m so glad I found this channel, thanks to this trial! Even though I do like this judge, and I feel very sorry for her right now, I have to say this. Any kid knows that if your mother tells you, “ i’m going to tell you one more time…” then tells you three more times, you’re sure you’ll be able to push it at least that many times next time!
She is doing great but needs to be more consistent with him! If she keeps moving the line back for her own kids misbehavior as she is with him, they will always know they can manipulate her!
Especially knowing that she DOES have the power to make him miserable but she has to bite her tongue to ensure a proper and fair outcome with no chance of appeal. She's incredibly patient and a phenomenal Judge. As entertaining as it would be to have a Judge like Borowski (Edgecomb trial) presiding over this case, Judge Dorow is definitely handling this the right way. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for her these past 3 weeks and she has unwaveringly been professional and proper. God bless her! I'm praying that the jury buries this jerk. It's unfortunate that they aren't privy to his antics outside of their presence but hopefully they are still able to see him for what he really is - a narcissistic monster with no empathy whatsoever towards ANY of the innocent people he killed or injured

Yeah, Judge Dorow can be frustrating at times, but in 3 or 4 days, Brooks will be convicted for life with no parole, and all of his appeals will fail because of the excellent jobs she's done in a very difficult case.

He could have stopped that SUV as soon as he hit the first one, he didn't. That's intent right there for every person injured or killed on that route after he hit the first one!

I thought the judge was being overly careful but I now I honestly think she's not only trying to control the court, she's trying to show him more respect than he is showing others. This goes to show what the people of WI are like. The amount of patience is incredible. I personally think she's doing a great job!

Hello. I am from the UK. We never have anything like this over here. This is better than Any TV show. I enjoy your channel as it helps me understand your law and the court room talk. I do think the Judge is letting him get away with things so he has no comeback, can you imagine if he has cause for an appeal.
He thinks he's not just doing a good job. He thinks he's doing a great job. It didn't help that the judge tried to prop him up in the early days of the trial to try and sugar him up and hope to keep him in line. Instead, it emboldened him and she's let him run all over her. She should have taken a cue from the one time she finally TOLD him what to do and he shut up and had nothing to say to that. He was shocked that she stood up to him. After all, he's a serial abuser. He thinks she's weak anyway because she's a woman and he's a "grown ass man". I realize that she's doing this because the prosecution has an almost perfect case. He's toast. She essentially knows the DA has got him and she's trying to avoid any situation, as you stated, for an appeal. Even keeping that in mind, I don't think she'd create an appeal worthy situation just by being strong enough to maintain order in her courtroom. My favorite line: "How does a witness recall what they can't recall?"
BTW, "No redirect" was not potentially the best move he's made; it *was* the best move he ever made. It seemed like every time he called or cross examined a witness, the only thing he actually managed to do was *strengthen* the prosecution's case. He might actually be his own worst enemy.
His attorney LARP really is something else. I like the judge. She’s done well in terms of making sure she has dotted her i’s and crossed her t’s. I know a lot of people may not want to acknowledge this because they like her and are biased towards her given the subject of the trial, but the judge has slowly lost control with each passing day as the antics ramp up because he has seen how far he can go and get away with it. She has covered her bases 10x over when it comes to mistrial or appeal. The record will absolutely reflect that as the record is what will be considered. However, that record is also going to reflect every single time she engaged his antics at every turn (always explaining X/Y/Z to him, answering every question that’s done been answered numerous times, allowing him to sit and ramble while acknowledging every in-cohesive point, etc.) She is becoming just as instrumental in the delays by giving in to his stalling tactics (tactics that she has acknowledged that he is doing), but still entertains them at every turn. She doesn’t need to do that to prevent anything. He absolutely can be moved in the other room and kept there as the jury is present. I get she doesn’t want to inject bias into the jury, but she’s already done it before with them present. He did cross from the other room early on, so it has _already_ been injected if that’s the case. She has already admitted she was scared/frightened when he stared her down and hit his fists on the table. I’m sorry, but that was a terrible move on her part. She should’ve stood there and stared him down as bailiffs removed him. She’s allowing him to intimidate her, and that has nothing to do with preventing bias for a mistrial or appeal. That’s only showing he knows what he can and can’t do with the judge, and will continue as long as she openly allows it and admits she’s intimidated in that manner. I’ve yet to see anyone actually believe she is a bad judge as I do think she is really good and is obviously in way over her head with this case, but I do wish she’d be firm and STAY firm. Stop engaging. Thank goodness this trial is coming to a close, though. The victims, those injured, the families, the whole community… I truly feel for them and the frustration they must be going through with this trial. I can only hope that once this is over that they can truly begin to heal.
i really like her as a judge, and i really liked her as a person as well until i made the mistake of looking her up and found out she's super homophobic. still a great judge, though (so long as she doesn't let her prejudices affect her decision-making when there are LGBTQ+ people in her courtroom). i do agree that she could stand up to him more. i think there's a balance she could find between protecting the record from appeal while also maintaining control of her courtroom, and she's ended up leaning more towards the former rather than finding that balance. easy for me to say as i'm not in her shoes, however, and tbh i'd have probably lost my shit with him after the first pre-trial hearing lmao so props to her.
I’ve been listening to a lot of the trial and love your nightly wrap-ups! Grace and healing for these victims and families. Unbelievable what they were put through. It’s hard to listen and not have your heart torn out if you have any humanity!
He doesn’t give a damn about his Mother. He destroyed her car, drove without a license and made her lose $ she posted for bail in Milwaukee case. Yet he implicated her with the pictures.
This is exactly like when a small child misbehaves and is threatened with time-out, but is never actually placed in time-out, so continues to misbehave knowing there are zero consequences. Judge is acting like that lenient parent who ends up with a spoiled brat of a kid! Show him the consequences for his actions, judge!! He will soon get the hint.
She is not playing into his hand. She’s figured out his game plan. And she’s not going to assist him in any manner no matter how bad it might make her look as a strong judge. She’s the strong one she took all this abuse and order to finish him off at the end, that’s a win
This Narcissist has an additional issue called Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). He’s a textbook case. I am an extremely patient person, but this Judge is queen of patience. She is making sure no mistrial, and doing much better than I ever could! It’s hard to watch him treat the injured so callously.
Agreed!!!! Once someone grows up into adulthood with ODD it's typically changed to either psychopathy or sociopathy. I believe he has the latter. He has NO remorse for others, only himself, and cannot feel empathy. The narcissism is so severe that it's disabled him to be able to function in healthy relationships, keep a career, get a degree in school, parent, or be a safe and good social steward.
When he asked her how she was even a judge at the end of the day I audibly gasped. And then when he started going on about integrity I was livid. He’s such a hypocrite! I wish the bailiffs could use those shocks on his ankle cuffs more!
She is in a really difficult position. He actually has a personality disorder (actually I suspect he has several - Narcissistic Personality Disorder with Sociopathic Tendencies & Oppositional Defiance Disorder) that means he has been arguing with & fighting people in authority for almost his whole life. So some of his behaviour isn’t actually deliberate. And as he’s facing life with no parole, she can’t threaten him with jail. He’s got no money so fines wouldn’t mean much. So the only “contempt” option is to send him back to prison until he decides to behave, which solely benefits him as that’s what he wants. She’s creating precedent with her approach of the naughty courtroom, and the trial being so big, so emotional & so distressing to the town, victims & families means that it needs to be done right first time. Not to mention the cost & logistics for a small town if he succeeds in forcing a mistrial. And it would be hard enough without the added BS of the SovCitiot stuff. So she’s dragging him kicking & screaming through the trial, picking her battles & trying her best to ensure that there is no way he can successfully appeal or get the convictions overturned. She’s basically walking through a minefield covered in a layer of broken glass, on eggshells, with strategically placed King Cobras & sleeping angry bears 😳 I think she’s done an incredible job of allowing him plenty of opportunity to demonstrate that his behaviour is a pattern of mainly deliberate disruptive behaviour, and that he is more than capable of mounting an adequate defence when he so chooses, and that she has bent over backwards to protect all of his rights. All while trying not to explode at him like most of us do every few minutes lol. The longer the trial drags on, the more pain it causes the above people & the more it costs a small town emotionally & fiscally. She also has to tread very carefully to block all avenues of appeal & a guilty verdict being overturned & to prevent a mistrial. Then there’s the fact he’s constantly, deliberately trying to taint the jury with claims of unfairness & laws not being followed etc. and pushing this ridiculous SovCitiot garbage that is basically totally unfounded pretend legal gobbledygook. All while dealing with an extremely obnoxious, difficult, manipulative POC who has basically been arguing with people his whole life. He has a personality disorder (or actually I suspect several combined) that means that he deliberately challenges authority, he gets angry very easily, his ego is very fragile & he turns every single argument on the other person to try to make it seem like they are the ones being unreasonable, or they are the problem, not him. All of which makes this trial an absolute nightmare to manage, even without the fact it’s a hugely emotional trial for everyone (even if Brooks only cares about himself), a very high profile trial & she is also creating precedent with her handling of him. Also, See if this sounds familiar as it helps explain his behaviour (but does not excuse it) and why it is escalating as he gets more stressed when things don’t go his way & he gets closer to the end. Just as insane as him staring the judge down was the way he went off on the last witness for calling him “Mr. Brooks” towards the end of her testimony. That’s what started the line of questioning when the state objected for badgering the witness. He kept asking her how she knew that name and why she was just now using that name when she hadn’t used it earlier in her testimony. It was truly bizarre and scary. I don’t know why he thinks his name is a secret like Rumplestiltskin or something. I know why he is trying to distance himself from it, but I don’t understand why he thinks no one knows it.
@@SusanCooperCIA The thing is SHE can be censured later on for this and she needs to make sure the witnesses don't go too hard on him at the same time. Many of the people he's questioning have a better understanding of the law than he does. Cross examination is going to be a shit show as it already is. It's a balancing act between being fair but as also being legally correct. I just HOPE nothing gets his case into appeals.

The Judge isn't his mommy and this trial isn't about him and getting behavioral therapy for his misbehavior. It's about making sure the evidence has been produced and that he has had an opportunity to defend himself before the verdict is given.

The judge seriously needs to learn the grey rock method. This guy is exactly like some of the kids I used to teach with emotional behavior disorders. You can never let them see that they are getting to you. No emotions whatsoever. And set firm boundaries, stick to them, and follow through with any demand or ultimatum. She shouldn’t give him any leeway at all.

Just on the flip side though. He grew up never having those behaviors corrected. So they are now ingrained habits and neural patterns. The method could backfire, because of that factor. She is being very very patient as to prevent a mistrial. Her goal is to not allow him to trigger events that would delay or derail the case. She wants to get this trial delivered to the jury with minimal delayed. Finding him in contempt is just another cause that would have to be addressed. She wants to be done with him.

Follow through, and have him there until the next break instead of asking every 5 minutes if he'd like to come back in. She wastes so much time indulging his arguments instead of using the powers she's shown as a judge to regain control of her courtroom. Patience of a saint, no doubt about it, but she can be firmer without risking a mistrial or legitimate appellate issues

I feel bad for our court reporter when I use too many words or speak too softly. I can't imagine what this poor court reporter is going through trying to create an accurate transcript with how often he interrupts and tries to speak over the judge. Arg!
Never engage with a narcissist. It's a guaranteed loss everytime. No lawyer in any courtroom would get away with what this guy has. The judge needs to regain control and let him know who is in charge and it's not him! I can only imagine what the lawyers at the other table are thinking.
It's not that you can't argue, it's throwing truth in their face and not being nice about it because they think what they're doing isn't wrong. Their mindset is I do what I want and that's the way it is and I can keep doing it.
Hi I’m super close to Waukesha and do still live in Waukesha county. This judge takes no bs. Gone in front of her before (child support issue with ex husband) and she ripped someone before me a new one. I think she’s strategic more so than she is being walked over. She’s legit giving him the shovel and allowing him to bury himself and when he tries to appeal it, it will be denied before he will even sign the last paper. There will be NO option to appeal and that is due to his own actions and behavior. She’s documenting everything and is always “stating for the record” so this is an airtight case with NO open windows.
I think the witness was very timid and obviously as she explained how she is suffering from PTSD his aggressiveness in his questions could be seen as intimidating.
What about the grace and integrity that also should be afforded to the Jury, State and Court personnel? The Jury is being treated like a flock of sheep (constantly shuffled in and out of the courtroom), Court personnel have been maligned (accused of making faces, gestures, stealing papers), etc. And finally, at this point the citizens of Wisconsin deserve better than the shenanigans taking place in this courtroom. i have to say i support the judge using the word "intimidate" because, after she told him not to badger or harass the witness, he asked her point-blank what that means. she had to come up with another word that he would understand - intimidate seems appropriate here. given the person questioning her is actually the very person that feeds her nightmares since nov 21, 2021, his words and mannerisms would no doubt seem MUCH more threatening than had it been a lawyer questioning her.

They disclosed that in their opening statement when they said that Ms Peterson is 32 and she met the defendant when she was 15. They have a 15yo child together. My mouth dropped.

Well Brooks actually opened up the door to that and while at the end of the day the prosecution were trying to remove that from being seen because my guess would have to be that they had a child and stayed together so the prosecution and the judge warned him that he would open all sorts of trouble for himself but he decided to go there and in a court of law you can't walk back.

I am deeply impressed with this judge -- she actually inspires me. She's not interested in the battles -- she's here to win the war. She knows that as long as she keeps this trial moving forward, with no appellate issues created, he'll end up with multiple life sentences. She doesn't mind if she "looks weak" or if she seems to lose some battles. She would rather just get this DONE. Every minute he spends in the other courtroom raises the likelihood of appellate issues by some percentage -- IDK, maybe 1% for every hour that he's there. She is using a mixture of reverse psychology and flattery to try to manipulate him into good behavior. And yes, I get frustrated too sometimes because I want to see him smacked down (literally as well as metaphorically) but it's about the war, not the battles. This judge's patience is extraordinary. I really like your channel and have watched a long time, but I disagree with anyone who would state or imply that this judge is any way doing a bad job. Her ability to keep her goal in mind and not let her anger or frustration take over is absolutely a marvel.
My thoughts too. It’s painful for her and everyone involved (and us), but the more she lets him demonstrate that he’s digging his own grave, the harder it will be to appeal or have a mistrial. A few days/weeks of awfulness is worth it to send him away forever.
Totally agree. It's so tough reading negative comments about her and not seeing the whole picture as youve described. They're literally days away now and it'll be over and not redone. She's doing a hell of a lot better than any of the people who complain about her could.

The more the judge allows his misconduct, the harder it will be for him to appeal... I say it's worth the couple of days it adds to the trial.
Getting a successful appeal is already difficult, letting him take control of your courtroom is not required.

She took those insults with grace and it showed him there was no words he could have said to get to her, and its obvious he was trying to get a reaction from her. It wasn't easy hearing him talk but it was a necessary evil
@@Valeriamtzp just take the judges advising him about how "object and reason for the objection" works - and right away he becomes even more agressive towards both prosecution and the judge.
She cannot forbid him to object - so her objections are very limited against that behaviour.
The same is it with all the other issues - she can put him in the other court room - but not for the rest of the trail (think it is stated in Illinois vs Allen, that the defendant can claim to go back to the main court room - and in some situations the defendant have to promise/pledge to obay to the court rules ect before he/she can come back to the main court room (something DB never did and never wanted to do)

I highly respect and admire Judge Dorrow. I’ve been watching this live everyday all day. She’s just really trying to make sure there’s no room for a mis trail. I do think she should be firmer with this lowlife. I admire her commitment to being fair and promoting a fair trial, I truly think she’s doing the best she can.

I truly believe he's trying to create a mistrial. I truly believe she's giving him leeway so she can prevent a mistrial. It's like people who ask why she's not holding him in contempt? What good would that do? It would delay the trial and give him what he wants, a delay. There is no benefit to the proceedings to hold him in contempt, he's already in custody. Holding someone in contempt is only a useful tool when someone isn't already in jail.

I am in WI as well and agree how bad this reflects on our state..first we had a white Jeffrey Dahmer attacking mostly black men and now we have a black Darrell Brooks attacking white people. Pure Hate in both cases
It was a crazy day of nonsense. Him staring her down was insane. I even felt uncomfortable. It was good to see the judge bring the hammer down on him but also wish she would have left him in the other room. Also loved the male prosecutor giving him a dose of his own medicine.
That was the same look of uncontrollable rage on his face as he drove through the parade.

One of a most difficult situations to be faced to deal with is trying to converse with a narcissist….one of the most mind boggling, circling, gaslighting, projection…. All which are emotional abusive tactics they use. He is using the judge as his victim for supply for his grandiose ego and He’s one of the worst narcissists I’ve ever seen. They know how to wear their victim down….they know how to subliminally create doubt and guilt so that their victim begins to question themselves….I feel for the judge, because she had no choice but to endure him. Narcissist do not let up until they get what they want. He is upping the ante to push her to the point lose her cool. I see him spending aLOT of time in solitary confinement if convicted. Interactions with a narcissist is always a No Win conversation….there is NO reasoning with them…Brooks is treating the judge just as he relates with all, especially women….where’s his “friends and family” coming to his defense….I bet with his N behaviors he’s burned all his bridges!!!

Hopefully! I really hope he doesn’t have any loyal friends on the outside, or make friends with any psychos who are just itching for a target. Fortunately, the Judge’s hubby is a verified badass so will hopefully be able to get Brooks a special visit in jail to make him extremely afraid of ever coming after her or anyone else. That glare he levelled at her on Day 10 (as per Law & Crime footage day count) after the argument about “telling” him what to do, was absolutely vicious, malevolent & murderous! If you look closely, you can see his body rocking slightly as if he’s trying to calculate if he can reach her to hurt or kill her before he gets taken down. Most vicious look I’ve ever seen on anyone’s face, ever!

That fifteen year old child doesn’t live with her mother nor her father. She has become a parent while still a child herself. This baby is another innocent part of the tragedy of DB. I feel badly for that baby!
Fifteen! I really hope the women's shelter has good services and that she makes a good community for herself (and maybe reconciles with her family if at all possible.) I'm well aware sometimes it's healthier not to. This trial can't end soon enough for anyone.

Not every person is able to deal with those whose brain is broke - as a mother who had a child that had a noticeable issue at 6 months old, it's very hard. My baby started having extreme temper tantrums out of frustrations over toys, barely slept, and would deliberately hurt himself. I did everything I could such as corrected his nutrition - no sugar or dyes & when he was 5 yrs of age, took him to behavioral specialists.
When he was 14, he was diagnosed being Bi-polar, ADHD, and anti-social disorder. He was meeting with the law regularly, for stupid criminal acts - and I *_mean stupid!_* Such as stealing a life size fake horse & mannequin, then breaking into and placing it in the kitchen of a well known officials house (they were out of town) as a *"joke'*, going onto an abandoned historic 5 story building's roof and "teasing" the public to call police, then leading officers on a game of 'catch me' within the maze of the dark building (they didn't catch him, they arrested him at home); leading police on a 'chase' on edge-of-town, abandoned race track - then escaping officers into the fields - in a 4 cylinder pick-up truck! Why? To see if he could!
He out drove them & was arrested at home 😞
We live in a small, 50K population town so I became on good terms with the police chief who told me _"Maybe direct his energy towards NASCAR"_ 🥴
The older he got, drugs entered his life. He got mean & beyond difficult (ARGUING WITH DARRELL BRINGS BACK UNCOMFORTABLE MEMORIES OF ARGUING WITH MY SON). My son was in and out of rehabs.
But then, a rare & wonderful counselor who saw the decent human inside him (at his last in-house treatment center) decided to recommend two things: A neurological brain scan and IQ test - because, when my son was not in a manic faze, he was very likeable and overly intelligent.
His IQ was found to be 148 - a genius! His brain scan showed it was "misfiring" - *'Not wired the same as the population norm'.*
A lot of work ensued to educate him and his support system (mostly family) that he was battling a physiological issue. It took years to re-train his trigger reactions and provide coping skills. He is now 40; an exceptional electrician (works 60+ hrs a week) has amazing skills at higher math (he 'sees' a notepad in his head & works out complex problems); is an amazing artist (in any medium), reads books (he hates technology & uses a simple phone). He also runs 5 miles before work and then works out at the gym every night for 2 hours, and is a health addict. He has stayed consistent for 10+ years.
He also accepts & avoids situations that overly stimulate him; recognizes when his brain is about to misfire and removes himself from confrontation. He can't handle crowds, he doesn't go out or party, and so this has meant to him a single life; he limits his appearance at family gatherings to the meal time and a short time to socialize. The entire family & the extended family is aware and is not offended when he leaves without announcement.
I can only relate to Darrell through my life experience and it saddens me that he committed such a tragic act and has irreparably harmed others. The neurologist told me that...
_"Prisons are filled with men just like your son; most go undiagnosed, but if they are, most aren't capable of doing the self-work."_
Yes you have suffered. My son stopped drinking 17 hrs ago. He is 45 now and still having seizures. I see so much of him in Darrel. I see his brain fog increasing. His anger in two seconds especially at me. He can’t even go to get groceries without coming out angry. My life is waiting for me to die as no one can figure out why the seizures keep occurring. He was the best little boy and then the alcohol destroyed him. Those of us that suffer so deeply will never get the understanding we deserve as they don’t fit into society. Sometimes when I am in the hospital when he is having a seizure, I beg God to take him. His life is horrible. I am so sorry for what you went through. Your ending is beautiful. Mine is reversed.
Ditto, not to the same degrees though. Huge difference we sought help till we found sensible solutions that worked!
Bless you. I have also experienced unbelievable behavior in a four year old. It starts early with the anti social behavior and such. Most people cannot accept that little children are capable of having such awful tendencies.

I know how fortunate I am that my son was somehow able to dig deep and decide to take control of his brain. I think once he realized his bad behavior wasn't his fault, just as disease is not someone's fault, and he was miserable. He hated that he had contemplated _ending it all_ many times... But the doctor told him:
_"Just as a person who is consistently getting a cold or flu needs to understand why they are constantly ill, and needs to assess his overall diet and lifestyle, you also need to decide if you want to understand your mental health - that is caused by a physiological problem."_
God bless the doctor for not throwing meds at him - and being honest that: _"There are no guarantees and it will be difficult."_
My son just woke up one day and dug into his life - like an on switch had been flipped.

I agree that it’s painful to watch the judge appearing to “lose control”. She sees clearly the big picture that at the appellate level he’s cooked - won’t even get looked at. This guy is a narcissist who is doing this for his own enjoyment. The judge in the rittenhouse trial would laid foundation for bias on appeal. This judge is a genius who is 5 steps ahead of him and many commenting on her being ineffective look at the big pic - 5 weeks of time letting a baby spout off so the he never poisons our courts again. Lawful law, “tack-it” (tacit) agreement, substained, all have entered my vocabulary for when I’m talking to a buffoon!

Hi. I just subscribed! I'm fascinated by cases like this. I have had patients like this man. They are VERY difficult to deal with! They ALWAYS know more than everyone around them (e.g. doctors, attorneys, judges, social workers, etc.). I read a comment that he "needed help" because he is "sick". I can tell you, guys like this can almost ONLY be enabled. They resist ANY form of true help because it starts with them taking accountability for themselves.

I think the state proved intent when they made sure to bring out that he had a choice to turn left or go right into the parade route and he went into the parade route. That's a choice. Also proved many times over was the fact that he had working brakes and could have used them and stopped!!

ThTs what I think is going on in his head. He will not get an actual chance to argue like this in the appellae court and we know he won’t be able to write his own appealate brief, so it’s going to be a while before he can appeal.
The judge is being lenient but she is spoon feeding him Information and giving a-lot of chances so that he cannot come back and claim racism and unfairness and gotcha moments.
She told gave him an ample amount of time to decide on keeping his council. He chose to defend himself and then he cries because he doesn’t understand everything. He had months to prepare and study up on basic legal procedure. He chose to flip flop on the sovereign citizen route but yet invokes his rights as per the constitution. Also he refuses to be identified as his legal name yet he picks and chooses when to respond to this.
He obviously doesn’t know what he is doing and has talked to other inmates who coached him instead of him actually researching.
He only understands the most basic law concepts and he decided not to prepare properly.

As annoyed as we are with the judge for letting him talk to her like that, the harm that's being done is only to him. The jury is probably even more upset and frustrated than we are with him, even though they haven't seen everything we're seeing. I think the appearance of her silencing him might be more likely to appeal to the jurys sympathy than letting him rage and act out. He's not winning this war. He may win little battles but he can't even tell that he's losing ground.
I don’t know about you, but I cannot wait for the jury to watch this trial, in its entirety, AFTER the trial and see all of his nonsense they missed! But then again, they may be so sick of him that they NEVER want to see his face or hear his name, again. Lol
I have to partially disagree….I think other obviously guilty defendants will see his antics and do so themselves in future trials. As far as I know his behavior is truly unprecedented but because it’s being allowed it will spread like wildfire.

I feel terrible for the jury and I doubt the judge could do anything to make them sympathetic for this monster. While I admire the judge’s patience (she has far more patience and composure than I) she has got to put her foot down and control her courtroom. She can do that whilst also not giving him grounds for successful appeal.
That's a really good point, especially because the jury wouldn't see why she had silenced him... it seems like when the judge puts him in the other room it makes him focus on that. When he's done having his fit he comes out and the trial goes on. It's excruciating to watch but... The Trial Goes On.
He had zero grounds to stand on to begin with .. he's got absolutely nothing to loose, and that renders him basically uncontrollable. The Judge-the whole Court: they have no leverage.
It's not as easy as you'd think to bargain with zero leverage.

I think Judge Dorow had to make some really hard decisions on how she was going to handle a grown man that has a mind and temper tantrums of a 12 year old. I think she did a great job so there wouldn't be a mistrial or an appeal. I, like many others, would have loved to see her be much stricter but she had a strategy and went with it. In the end she was the one who delivered his fate to him. It all worked out. I have much respect for Judge Dorow.

I’m so glad I found this channel, thanks to this trial! Even though I do like this judge, and I feel very sorry for her right now, I have to say this. Any kid knows that if your mother tells you, “ i’m going to tell you one more time…” then tells you three more times, you’re sure you’ll be able to push it at least that many times next time!

As entertaining as it would be to have a Judge like Borowski (Edgecomb trial) presiding over this case, Judge Dorow is definitely handling this the right way. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for her these past 3 weeks and she has unwaveringly been professional and proper. God bless her!
I'm praying that the jury buries this jerk. It's unfortunate that they aren't privy to his antics outside of their presence but hopefully they are still able to see him for what he really is - a narcissistic monster with no empathy whatsoever towards ANY of the innocent people he killed or injured

Yeah, Judge Dorow can be frustrating at times, but in 3 or 4 days, Brooks will be convicted for life with no parole, and all of his appeals will fail because of the excellent jobs she's done in a very difficult case.

I thought the judge was being overly careful but I now I honestly think she's not only trying to control the court, she's trying to show him more respect than he is showing others. Hello. I am from the UK. We never have anything like this over here. This is better than Any TV show. I enjoy your channel as it helps me understand your law and the court room talk. I do think the Judge is letting him get away with things so he has no comeback, can you imagine if he has cause for an appeal.
For someone who doesn’t “ understand “ he is comfortable telling the judge what she “has” to do as a public servant.
He thinks he's not just doing a good job. He thinks he's doing a great job. It didn't help that the judge tried to prop him up in the early days of the trial to try and sugar him up and hope to keep him in line. Instead, it emboldened him and she's let him run all over her. She should have taken a cue from the one time she finally TOLD him what to do and he shut up and had nothing to say to that. He was shocked that she stood up to him. After all, he's a serial abuser. He thinks she's weak anyway because she's a woman and he's a "grown ass man".
I realize that she's doing this because the prosecution has an almost perfect case. He's toast. She essentially knows the DA has got him and she's trying to avoid any situation, as you stated, for an appeal. Even keeping that in mind, I don't think she'd create an appeal worthy situation just by being strong enough to maintain order in her courtroom.
My favorite line: "How does a witness recall what they can't recall?"
BTW, "No redirect" was not potentially the best move he's made; it *was* the best move he ever made. It seemed like every time he called or cross examined a witness, the only thing he actually managed to do was *strengthen* the prosecution's case. He might actually be his own worst enemy.
His attorney LARP really is something else.
I like the judge. She’s done well in terms of making sure she has dotted her i’s and crossed her t’s. I know a lot of people may not want to acknowledge this because they like her and are biased towards her given the subject of the trial, but the judge has slowly lost control with each passing day as the antics ramp up because he has seen how far he can go and get away with it.
She has covered her bases 10x over when it comes to mistrial or appeal. The record will absolutely reflect that as the record is what will be considered.
However, that record is also going to reflect every single time she engaged his antics at every turn (always explaining X/Y/Z to him, answering every question that’s done been answered numerous times, allowing him to sit and ramble while acknowledging every in-cohesive point, etc.)
She is becoming just as instrumental in the delays by giving in to his stalling tactics (tactics that she has acknowledged that he is doing), but still entertains them at every turn. She doesn’t need to do that to prevent anything.
He absolutely can be moved in the other room and kept there as the jury is present. I get she doesn’t want to inject bias into the jury, but she’s already done it before with them present. He did cross from the other room early on, so it has _already_ been injected if that’s the case.
She has already admitted she was scared/frightened when he stared her down and hit his fists on the table. I’m sorry, but that was a terrible move on her part. She should’ve stood there and stared him down as bailiffs removed him. She’s allowing him to intimidate her, and that has nothing to do with preventing bias for a mistrial or appeal. That’s only showing he knows what he can and can’t do with the judge, and will continue as long as she openly allows it and admits she’s intimidated in that manner.
I’ve yet to see anyone actually believe she is a bad judge as I do think she is really good and is obviously in way over her head with this case, but I do wish she’d be firm and STAY firm. Stop engaging.
Thank goodness this trial is coming to a close, though. The victims, those injured, the families, the whole community… I truly feel for them and the frustration they must be going through with this trial. I can only hope that once this is over that they can truly begin to heal.
i really like her as a judge, and i really liked her as a person as well until i made the mistake of looking her up and found out she's super homophobic. still a great judge, though (so long as she doesn't let her prejudices affect her decision-making when there are LGBTQ+ people in her courtroom). i do agree that she could stand up to him more. i think there's a balance she could find between protecting the record from appeal while also maintaining control of her courtroom, and she's ended up leaning more towards the former rather than finding that balance. easy for me to say as i'm not in her shoes, however, and tbh i'd have probably lost my shit with him after the first pre-trial hearing lmao so props to her.
I’ve been listening to a lot of the trial and love your nightly wrap-ups! Grace and healing for these victims and families. Unbelievable what they were put through. It’s hard to listen and not have your heart torn out if you have any humanity!

He doesn’t give a damn about his Mother. He destroyed her car, drove without a license and made her lose $ she posted for bail in Milwaukee case. Yet he implicated her with the pictures.

This is exactly like when a small child misbehaves and is threatened with time-out, but is never actually placed in time-out, so continues to misbehave knowing there are zero consequences. Judge is acting like that lenient parent who ends up with a spoiled brat of a kid!

She is not playing into his hand. She’s figured out his game plan. And she’s not going to assist him in any manner no matter how bad it might make her look as a strong judge. She’s the strong one she took all this abuse and order to finish him off at the end, that’s a win
This Narcissist has an additional issue called Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). He’s a textbook case.
I am an extremely patient person, but this Judge is queen of patience. She is making sure no mistrial, and doing much better than I ever could!

Once someone grows up into adulthood with ODD it's typically changed to either psychopathy or sociopathy. I believe he has the latter.
He has NO remorse for others, only himself, and cannot feel empathy.
The narcissism is so severe that it's disabled him to be able to function in healthy relationships, keep a career, get a degree in school, parent, or be a safe and good social steward.

When he asked her how she was even a judge at the end of the day I audibly gasped. And then when he started going on about integrity I was livid. He’s such a hypocrite! I wish the bailiffs could use those shocks on his ankle cuffs more!

She is in a really difficult position. He actually has a personality disorder (actually I suspect he has several - Narcissistic Personality Disorder with Sociopathic Tendencies & Oppositional Defiance Disorder) that means he has been arguing with & fighting people in authority for almost his whole life. So some of his behaviour isn’t actually deliberate. And as he’s facing life with no parole, she can’t threaten him with jail. He’s got no money so fines wouldn’t mean much. So the only “contempt” option is to send him back to prison until he decides to behave, which solely benefits him as that’s what he wants.
She’s creating precedent with her approach of the naughty courtroom, and the trial being so big, so emotional & so distressing to the town, victims & families means that it needs to be done right first time. Not to mention the cost & logistics for a small town if he succeeds in forcing a mistrial. And it would be hard enough without the added BS of the SovCitiot stuff.
So she’s dragging him kicking & screaming through the trial, picking her battles & trying her best to ensure that there is no way he can successfully appeal or get the convictions overturned. She’s basically walking through a minefield covered in a layer of broken glass, on eggshells, with strategically placed King Cobras & sleeping angry bears 😳 I think she’s done an incredible job of allowing him plenty of opportunity to demonstrate that his behaviour is a pattern of mainly deliberate disruptive behaviour, and that he is more than capable of mounting an adequate defence when he so chooses, and that she has bent over backwards to protect all of his rights. All while trying not to explode at him like most of us do every few minutes lol.
The longer the trial drags on, the more pain it causes the above people & the more it costs a small town emotionally & fiscally.
She also has to tread very carefully to block all avenues of appeal & a guilty verdict being overturned & to prevent a mistrial.
Then there’s the fact he’s constantly, deliberately trying to taint the jury with claims of unfairness & laws not being followed etc. and pushing this ridiculous SovCitiot garbage that is basically totally unfounded pretend legal gobbledygook.
All while dealing with an extremely obnoxious, difficult, manipulative POC who has basically been arguing with people his whole life. He has a personality disorder (or actually I suspect several combined) that means that he deliberately challenges authority, he gets angry very easily, his ego is very fragile & he turns every single argument on the other person to try to make it seem like they are the ones being unreasonable, or they are the problem, not him.
All of which makes this trial an absolute nightmare to manage, even without the fact it’s a hugely emotional trial for everyone (even if Brooks only cares about himself), a very high profile trial & she is also creating precedent with her handling of him.
Also, See if this sounds familiar as it helps explain his behaviour (but does not excuse it) and why it is escalating as he gets more stressed when things don’t go his way & he gets closer to the end. Adults with oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) display a pattern of negative, hostile, and defiant behavior that lasts at least six months and includes four (or more) of the following symptoms:
- Often loses temper
- Often argues with family and coworkers
- Actively defies or refuses to comply with rules and laws
- Deliberately annoys people
- Blames others for his or her mistakes or misbehavior
- Easily annoyed by others
- Angry and resentful
- Spiteful or vindictive
Adults with ODD are more than just aggressive and irritating from time to time. They feel mad at the world every day, and lose their temper regularly. This may manifest as verbal abuse or road rage. Adults with ODD defend themselves relentlessly when someone says they’ve done something wrong. They feel misunderstood and disliked, hemmed in, and pushed around.
Constant opposition to authority figures makes it difficult for adults with ODD to keep jobs and to maintain relationships and marriages. They are particularly quick to anger, they are impatient, and they have a low tolerance for frustration. They see themselves as mistreated, misunderstood, and unappreciated. They see themselves as the victim rather than the cause of the pain in the family system.
People with ODD report feeling angry all of the time, and about 40 percent of them become progressively worse and develop antisocial personality disorder.
Symptoms of Oppositional Defiant Disorder in Adults at Home:
- Always needs to win the argument with a parent or spouse
- Continues to fight against ‘the man’ - authority figures and society
- Leaves socks on the floor just because he knows it annoys his roommate
- Cited for disorderly conduct by police
- Involved in bar brawls or physical altercations in public
- Has a hair-trigger temper - the littlest thing can set her off
Symptoms of Oppositional Defiant Disorder in Adults at Work
These or similar manifestations of ODD may be apparent at work:
- Near constant arguments with a boss or coworkers
- Commonly feeling oppressed by office rules
- Purposely engaging in behaviors that irritate coworkers, like eating smelly foods for lunch
Sanctioned by human resources for violating company policies
- Fired for being physically aggressive with coworkers in heated moments
- Has meltdowns during meetings or annual reviews after receiving constructive criticism

I guess she cross all of t's and dotting all of her i's. The judge though needs to be the adult stop arguing with him, remove him, mean it, and keep him removed for the remainder of the day.
The justice system has been walking on egg shells with this guy his whole life, which is exactly why he and his victims ended up where we are now.
Just as insane as him staring the judge down was the way he went off on the last witness for calling him “Mr. Brooks” towards the end of her testimony. That’s what started the line of questioning when the state objected for badgering the witness. He kept asking her how she knew that name and why she was just now using that name when she hadn’t used it earlier in her testimony. It was truly bizarre and scary. I don’t know why he thinks his name is a secret like Rumplestiltskin or something. I know why he is trying to distance himself from it, but I don’t understand why he thinks no one knows it.
He really is delusional and/or dissociated.

@@SusanCooperCIA The thing is SHE can be censured later on for this and she needs to make sure the witnesses don't go too hard on him at the same time. Many of the people he's questioning have a better understanding of the law than he does. Cross examination is going to be a shit show as it already is. It's a balancing act between being fair but as also being legally correct. I just HOPE nothing gets his case into appeals.
Why doesn’t she tell him “when you decided to defend yourself? I told you you could have no lawyer, counselor, or any kind of guidance from anyone and you would be on your own. But you continue to bring your little friend who does not consent to be called by that name. I’m telling you now if you bring him back to the quart room again, I’m going to gag him and put him in the other room permanently. “
Like a parent should raise a child...set the rules and abide by them. Never make an idle threat of punishment. Follow through!!
The Judge isn't his mommy and this trial isn't about him and getting behavioral therapy for his misbehavior. It's about making sure the evidence has been produced and that he has had an opportunity to defend himself before the verdict is given.

The judge seriously needs to learn the grey rock method. This guy is exactly like some of the kids I used to teach with emotional behavior disorders. You can never let them see that they are getting to you. No emotions whatsoever. And set firm boundaries, stick to them, and follow through with any demand or ultimatum. She shouldn’t give him any leeway at all.

Just on the flip side though. He grew up never having those behaviors corrected. So they are now ingrained habits and neural patterns. The method could backfire, because of that factor. It works with kids because they are still developing right and wrong... Sorry you know all this(not being rude). But DB may be too deep into his neurosis to have the same reaction. He's built his belief of right and wrong.

Guiness book of records for the most disrespectful POS defendant. Unfortunately, she cant really hold him in contempt without delaying the proceedings. Hopefully, she will get the last word during sentencing
The POS did all he could to be held in contempt which is what he wanted so the trial could delay..
Maybe she can “rush him to judgement”!?
She is being very very patient as to prevent a mistrial. Her goal is to not allow him to trigger events that would delay or derail the case. She wants to get this trial delivered to the jury with minimal delayed. Finding him in contempt is just another cause that would have to be addressed. She wants to be done with him.

@@purplepanzy He does. What he's saying is that she should stick to her guns when she says she's going to do something. Taking him out of the courtroom? Follow through, and have him there until the next break instead of asking every 5 minutes if he'd like to come back in. She wastes so much time indulging his arguments instead of using the powers she's shown as a judge to regain control of her courtroom. Patience of a saint, no doubt about it, but she can be firmer without risking a mistrial or legitimate appellate issues

Every argument between them makes me feel so sorry for the court reporter. I don't know how she does it. Thank you for your opinions. I feel bad for our court reporter when I use too many words or speak too softly. I can't imagine what this poor court reporter is going through trying to create an accurate transcript with how often he interrupts and tries to speak over the judge. Arg!

As a child psychologist working for BLAST, this is like watching what NOT to do when dealing with a child.
Never engage with a narcissist. It's a guaranteed loss everytime. No lawyer in any courtroom would get away with what this guy has. The judge needs to regain control and let him know who is in charge and it's not him! I can only imagine what the lawyers at the other table are thinking.

It's not that you can't argue, it's throwing truth in their face and not being nice about it because they think what they're doing isn't wrong. Their mindset is I do what I want and that's the way it is and I can keep doing it.

Hi I’m super close to Waukesha and do still live in Waukesha county. This judge takes no bs. Gone in front of her before (child support issue with ex husband) and she ripped someone before me a new one.
I think she’s strategic more so than she is being walked over. She’s legit giving him the shovel and allowing him to bury himself and when he tries to appeal it, it will be denied before he will even sign the last paper. There will be NO option to appeal and that is due to his own actions and behavior. She’s documenting everything and is always “stating for the record” so this is an airtight case with NO open windows.
This was 100% intentional. This was him inflicting himself on the world because he's mad.

I think the witness was very timid and obviously as she explained how she is suffering from PTSD his aggressiveness in his questions could be seen as intimidating.

What about the grace and integrity that also should be afforded to the Jury, State and Court personnel? The Jury is being treated like a flock of sheep (constantly shuffled in and out of the courtroom), Court personnel have been maligned (accused of making faces, gestures, stealing papers), etc. And finally, at this point the citizens of Wisconsin deserve better than the shenanigans taking place in this courtroom. Congrats for 150+k!!!!!
He’s also holding them all hostage. They will not be all that forgiving of that when it comes time to deliberate.
i have to say i support the judge using the word "intimidate" because, after she told him not to badger or harass the witness, he asked her point-blank what that means. she had to come up with another word that he would understand - intimidate seems appropriate here. given the person questioning her is actually the very person that feeds her nightmares since nov 21, 2021, his words and mannerisms would no doubt seem MUCH more threatening than had it been a lawyer questioning her.
