Attorney Oppa was wonderful through the whole trail that's why Brooks didn't like her she knew him like the back of her hand from the beginning for example all of his antics, tactics, gaslighting and manipulation and lies listen at this bastard keep saying he is confused about the nature of the charges after he been found guilty and charged with 76 charges he is still playing games what a POS
I think the moment it really hits home for him is when he is waving the paper with writing on it and the judge does not even bother to read it. She tells him she can see it and he is no longer allowed in the court room. He realises that he is no longer able to cause pain to his victims. He is no longer able to be in the spotlight and be the super awesome lawyer. Now all he can do is sit there and wait for the sentences. He knows that he is never going to be in control of anything again. all his rights, factual and fictitious are gone. I don't for a second believe he cares about seeing his kids but I also believe the thought that he will never get to be the rich rap star is crushing him. Sorry for the long winded post, felt good to get that out there.
Respectfully she doesn't get a day. She took what should have been a moment for the family's to hopefully get some closure and turned it into a spectacle where she made herself and her bickering with Brooks the centerpiece instead of the victims. I know a lot of people disagree and I respect that reasonable people can disagree, but to my eyes it was "HER DAY" and it really had no business being that way. To me it was incredibly selfish and disrespectful towards the victims and their loved ones.
@@n7honeybadger103 I hear ya'! You have a right to your opinion. With respect, I think that Judge Dorow managed this whole grueling trial like nobody's business. I do think there was a little too much talk on her part at times and had I been her I would have jumped over the desk to slap that man right in the face, but she held on to being the most professional, most patient, most gracious, most cunning judge I know. Equally as great, were: Susan Opper, Zach, and Leslie and the team. I was literally screaming at the TV every time that Brooks opened his mouth. The frustration and agony those poor people had to endure was terrible. Yep, Judge Dorow, after it was all said and done, was very cunning--maybe coddled a little too much--but very shrewd and used the law at every turn! Thanks to her and to the state prosecution team, the day was for the surviving victims and families! That's how I see it!
I loved that. Runkle said he hates when judges do that just sentence already. But she put up with his antics for weeks, it was the dB show for weeks. She put the victims and their impact statements front and center and confronted him once again with the truth. You could've stopped you could've left the parade at all these places. You didn't have to do this. Basically saying your defense or lack of doesn't matter your antics in court don't matter. What you did a year ago and that you never admitted and never showed remorse that's all that matters
Absolutely agree, she’s the best judge I’ve ever seen. So was the judge in the Ahmoud Arbory case. I don’t remember his name, but he was also a shining beacon of justice. His remarks were profound, as were Judge Dorow’s. They both seemed exceptionally professional, fair and knowledgeable in their field. People doubted her, I was frustrated with her at times, but she had an end game and she exceeded our expectations in the end.
I've never hated a a stranger until I stumbled upon Darrell Brooks. Rolling his eyes, sarcastically clapping his hands, mockingly patting his heart while the victims were speaking, all of that really got to me yesterday. I actually felt legitimate hate for this guy after that.
I don’t hate him. Hatred is personal. He disgusts me, but I knew throughout the trial he wasn’t going to get away with this one. I’m satisfied that he is going to a place where he won’t get anywhere with bad behavior.
I did the same for a few minutes until I thought about something my Mom has always told me and that is : don't ever hate, it will eat YOU alive while the object of your hate most likely isn't even aware of it or doesn't care and, it is so negative it will drain your energy so you aren't able to carry on with positivity. So very true.
He has apologized previously to the judge for his behavior with the same results. He isn't contrite, just manipulative. It would seem that this is the pattern of his entire life.
Having been involved with a narcissist, I can confirm it's used with the expectation that all will be forgiven and forgotten. "But I SAID I was SORRY!"
I got second hand embarrassment when that mom refused to acknowledge what happened as an attack or murder. Just as I thought she has never held him accountable for anything.
@@ileanahernandez1709 Exactly and now DW says DB didn't get a fair trial! How can DW say such a thing especially after the way that moron DB treated and spoke to the judge! Judge Durrow was more than fair with this monster and made sure DB got a more than fair trial! The judge even had to deal with an adult that doesn't practice one simple manner! DW failed this moron enabling him so much, DW created an entitled monster, DB acts like a savage! I can't even imagine what EP went through with DB, EP is finally free from abuse, and talked down to, etc! What's also disgusting is there's no way DW didn't know DB was beating EP up especially since they both lived in her own back yard! We all know DB doesn't whisper when he's angry, DW had to of known about the abuse and from the looks of things DW turned the other way!
Also, kudos to Judge Dorrow for ordering no contact with the victims OR with Erica Patterson. She went out of her way to not only help the victims of this attack, but help Erica as a DV victim. She offered words of comfort, wisdom, and advice. I like that she told Tyler Sparks “it’s not your fault. It’s Darrell Brooks’ fault.” I bet he needed to hear that.
I'm so sorry for the horror that your community had to endure at the hands of this monster. That being said, you have an angle in Judge Dorow. I'm glad that Darrell Brooks will experience hell on earth for the remainder of his natural life. Much love from Ontario Canada.
I'm so sorry for your communities loss. Sending yall positive and joyful vibes as we come to this new holiday season. I know it will never be the same because everyone's lives were changed that day(heck even mine did and I'm in TX), but I do hope that with him under the jail your community can move on and start new traditions and experience new love/life.
Alot of people thought, and may still today. He didn’t want to apologize, fearing it would hurt if he did get a retrial. He’d being admitting guilt. Though we know nothing is absolute. I feel he has 1% chance for one!!!!
My niece is Jessalyn Torres. My sister and 4 of her children walked in the parade. It was the first year in 5 years I didn't walk with my children in the parade with the dance team. My kids and I were there and seen everything. I appreciate your coverage of this trial and how you always kept a neutral opinion. We are happy with how this ended and I believe our community can now move forward together with some justice at our backs.
I love how she said at the very end that Mr. B will be provided with an explanation of his sentences "which he can read at his convenience". Oh, he'll have lots and lots of time to read it. So funny! She said the court would fill out the captions for his appeal paperwork. I wonder if she will insist that it be all in CAPs!
Judge Dorrow is spectacular!! She showed so much honor to each victim. It was nice to see her be done with DB. I hope and pray that all those effected by the attack feel a bit of relief and can really start healing!!
She did an amazing job at protecting this ruling from appeal. Her patients will save the community the trauma of hearing back from him in a higher court.
He tried to DRIVE OVER THIS JUDGE AND COURT with his nonsensical blabbering !!! He didnt even bump this Judge A strong woman who held her cool until sentence today. I love her and believe she is a HERO
@@georgiabadon2577 Yep! It was a good touch for the judge to credit the time to a life-without-parole sentence so as to not tarnish any victim's charge
I think her kindness to the victims especially Erika was touching and she was trying to help the victims move on. Telling the girl victim to follow her dreams. Nick for saving Erika’s life and that no one else should feel responsible for any of the attack he done 😢
A lot of people are being so stupid about it. I think a lot of her behavior with DB was out of compassion. She was just naive, perhaps, but compassion should never be viewed as something negative.
He thought he could backtrack on the not guilty by insanity and get sent to hospital and be out in 15 years...that's what he wanted.... It felt good to see Judge Dorow in her element without being disrupted by Brookes. Her thought processes etc. Loved how now the record is preserved, she focussed on the community and helping them heal by giving them justice. Also she made sure the world knows Brookes is not crazy, but knows exactly what he was doing and can control himself when he wants to.
I was so moved by seeing Judge Dorow break down. I can't imagine how challenging it had to be to hold it all together during the testimony phases of this trial. I was not surprised at all by DB's behavior or anything he said today. He has proven to the world that he simply cannot be redeemed or rehabilitated. I hate thinking there is no hope for some people, but I think he is hopeless. I'm embarrassed for anyone who has ever been associated with him and I'm discouraged to see how enabling his mother and grandmother have obviously been his whole life. They are not really in touch with reality at all. Darrell Brooks deserves every minute of every year he got in the sentence handed down today. Thank you, again Peter for breaking this down for us and helping us to understand what was a very emotional and confusing case.💙💙💙💙💙💙
Because of DB's behavior in court I suspected there was a history of enabling. Seeing his mother and grandmother today made me more sure of it. He's going to keep doing what he has found successful in the past, and that's what he's been doing in court.
@@windywednesday4166 The points his mother and grandmother made about mental illness were valid, but totally irrelevant to the case. Brooks was never presented with any boundaries in his life and his significant others obviously turned a blind eye. One of the charges he's facing in Milwaukee is DV. In his speech he talked about his children....... and he's been pursued in the courts for faioling to make child support payments. He's a wrong'un.
100% I hate the way some people use religion as a shield and it was truly offensive to hear him talk about gods will!!! As if now it’s gods fault he plowed over people in an suv. The mother and grandmother did him absolutely no favors they did not talk anything about the type of person that he actually was as a child or as a man. I don’t think they even know him!!! They spoke in generalities about mental illness and they are far from experts to be speaking on the subject.
We missed you! I think all of us regulars asked after you! Yes, I was very disappointed in the Mother and Grandmother. They didn't speak to his character at all! He is done now. The judge did amazing.
@@windywednesday4166 Agreed! I visualize that after his bipolar disorder was diagnosed his family coddled him and did not make him own responsibility for his actions. I have seen this happen before in other families. The "disabled " child gets the favorable attention.
Judge Darrow was certainly Vindicated today. She wasn't being 'too nice'... she was taking notes. I just love how she wound things up. She 'nailed his ass' (movie reference, Guss Petch, Intolerable Cruelty)
@@jenniferthomas5926 watching this trial was heartbreaking. I felt like I needed to hear what happened to these people and what they had to say, to witness it for them so they were heard. I feel like the judge made sure that the trial moved on and gave them their chance... today she lived up to the image of Wonder Woman that has been referred to.
The part where DB read the scripture talking about not being forgiven by Jesus if you don't forgive, actually had me yelling at my tv. It is such a strong statement from their community that no one yelled during his entire pity party. Judge Dorow was amazing. Thanks for all your coverage, Peter, you are one of my fav spots on youtube.
I drove from Lakeland to Leesburg and then back to Lakeland and he was still rambling. He acted like he was getting an award. Thanking everyone. Unbelievably!
Commissary is HUGE in jail. My husband works in corrections and honey buns are truly like GOLD in custody. Taking commissary is often the ONLY consequence that conforms their behavior whatsoever.
He was waving the sign to come back, gets brought back and not even there 1 minute and demands to go back. Gets kicked out and then starts the whole thing over with waving the sign to come back. GAMES
The judge's composure and control during this whole trial has been unbelievable. I know she didn't do everything exactly like others think she should have, but I think she did the best she could have possibly done considering the circumstances. And I think she handled the sentencing perfectly. She let him go on for two hours because she was waiting to see if he would actually show any remorse at all. And her comments and evaluation of him was SPOT ON. She knows he is just pure evil and should never be released.
I hope the people of waukesha and all the victims finally feel some kind of justice has been done 💙 I'm in England uk and I feel so much for all affected by this .
I heard someone during the trial say his only interaction between him and mental health, as an adult, was through the Department of Corrections! That’s why he never stuck with it because as soon as he got out, he started self-medicating with pot!
That wasn't even a minute of an apology! That was about 8 Seconds of an apology followed by "I'm sorry you don't see how sad I think you think I'm supposed to be. *Poor me, poor me, poor me!* "
Yesterday and the start of today with that little girl talking about her grandma was tough 💔😢 I hope that all the victims felt all the support and love from everyone around the globe ❤ Thank you for the coverage of this trial Peter. It was a tough one to watch.
My head is swimming with all the information I've learned from other UA-cam influencers as well as from you, Peter. If I'm mentally exhausted, I can only imagine how the judge and the prosecution team and everyone else must feel. This has been one emotionally draining trial! My question to you is if any monies that come in for Brooks while in prison and I understand it goes in escrow, 50% goes to the fines. Since he has no money, it seems apparent his mother could put money into an account so that he can buy the necessities and for snacks. Needless to say he basically got 1,000 years. Brooks did not disappoint, he acted up for the last time in this case and his main focus again was all about him! I liked that he spoke about Christ and mentioned his salvation but he suddenly changed back into Mr. Hyde! I'm so glad this trial is over. Judge Dorow rocked and rolled! Thanks for all that you do.
If he tries to profit from his crime, 100% of that money goes towards restitution, court costs, and fines. Look up Son of Sam Laws for that one. As for any money he earns for prison work and his canteen account, 50% of those funds will be taken for restitution, court costs, and fines. That means that if his mother puts money into his account, the Department of Corrections will take 50% as per the court order.
I'm thinking now that one of the reasons he chose to defend himself was so he could be "out front", seen, and vocal. Someone said he likes to hear himself talk. True. He also wouldn't have been able to act the way he did or say what he said. I think that's why he didn't want lawyers.
@@llharris4837 Yes, that's so evident in his closing arguments, he spoke for 2 hours and it was basically all about him. I like the fact though that he is a believer in Christ. And no one is void of redemption and there's not one of us who is perfect, but his choices in life caused havoc and pain for others and really for himself. But the fact that Brooks has accepted Christ into his heart tells us thst it is the best choice he has ever made. However, he's facing yet another court case. I think three more. I agree with you that representing himself gave him more of a voice but as we can see he lost. And I agree with the judge that he is intelligent. I think had he chosen a different path in life he could have made something of himself. Also, the fact that he mentioned Christ so much and had his Bible by him would have at least indicated to me that he would be truly sorry for what he did and focus more on the victims, who, by the way. expressed there Christian faith throughout their impact statements; unlike any impact statements I ever heard before from other court cases. Nevertheless. he spoke more about himself and his upbringing and his woes and his reasons for his becoming the person that he is. This has been sad, enlightening, and very interesting case to me. Brooks may have a purpose from God to help other inmates or he may become even more angry, who knows. It's all about free will and choice. I'm sure he's going to voice his opinion one way or another there.
"Frankly Mr. Brooks, you deserve it" was the greatest line of this trial! Judge Dorow is a class act. Respectful and professional even in the presence of pure evil.
The way DB kept waving at her, still trying to interrupt the judge. He thought he could control her, but found out he couldn't. I'm so glad she totally ignored him, he hates that so much. Despicable.
You could clearly see he even had a hard time giving that pathetic apology. He just knew he had to give some kind of apology because the judge made that point when he was apologizing to her. He did not want to have to apologize at all and that was very clear though out the trial.
His slack ass apology was not an apology. He said he's sorry for what happened. It was like someone else killed these people and he was sorry for what happened to them. It was like he removed himself from what happened.
@@rosalynjeffery9510 totally agree! There is no doubt DB wanted to act like it was someone else that committed the crimes. DB has never taken responsibility for anything he has done in his life and he sure as hell was not going to start now. He had been able to pretty much get away with everything he has done in his life with very little penalty to him. So in his mind he was never going to take responsibility for this. He is the type of person where no one is going to tell him what to do and that was very clear throughout the entire trial.
His mother had the nerve to say he won't survive six life sentences. Well what her son did those people didn't survive either. They had a constitution right not to be murdered or maimed by him also.
Yes, I saw that and I also found out that she was scamming people for that go fund me money, still playing victim and she still drinking partying and not going back to Georgia to her kids and have another Darrell that she’s going with now
I tried watching Rikeita Law. What a bunch of negative Nancy’s. They kept tell the judge to shut up and stop talking. But this is exactly the catharsis that I think that the victims and the general viewers wanted…they wanted someone else to finally dress him down and it’s his worst fear. He hated the fact that he had to sit down and shut up while sentencing occurred…and that makes this so satisfying
@@CloudslnMyCoffee I watched EDB live. Love her. Thought I’d check out a replay of Rikieta because they might have a little vitriol’s that would speak to my rage. LOL. But they just couldn’t get over being mean about the judge talking with some sexism thrown in from one of his guests. I think maybe I’ll stop tuning in ever to Rikieta. He’s really doubled down on pushing the limit of civility since his move to Rumble. Plus I can’t stand that law of self defence guy and he seems to be really latching onto Rikieta and seems to be on there constantly. He’s insufferable and seems to be a disgusting human being.’
Windy Wednesday- I did too. I sometimes like Emily D Baker but i like to hear every word of what the judge and the victims are saying so I change it to listen to the trial.
The judge telling Nick and Corey they might well have saved Erica's life I thought was a very kind gesture because poor Nick said he felt blame for what happened at the parade because he told Brooks to leave the area.
The credit served extra is a jab at DB. She purposely placed it on the first count to be sure that he symbolically would still do the nine months for his attack on Erica. It's going to be the one thing that will hurt him, especially since it's the one thing he asked of the judge (give him credit on the last count, and did not get it), and that will gnaw at him for the rest of his life. Thanks Judge Dorow *chef's kiss*
“Five kids she don’t even have custody of”, he says, to degrade the testimony of his child’s mother. That may have something to do with Brooks and other men impregnating a minor!
I am so happy the Judge got to get this whole trial off of her chest today. She did it with such grace even though he kept pulling his stunt and I’m glad she kept bringing up Ms. Erika Patterson. That angered him.
I was bullied my entire childhood, I have only one friend and that's a one sided thing she talks I listen. I'm boring so people leave. I grew up poor I never say that my mum says You don't realise it, but think about all the times we used the smallest coins to pay for food all the times the electricity just happened to only go out in our apartment. My mum worked hard I was a latch key kid and I liked it. It just showed me that I have to make sure to always have a little money on the side so I'm never hungry again and make sure to respect her for her hard work. It doesn't make me wanna kill people.
I am so happy to see this absolute excuse for a human being off to prison for the rest of his life! He is truly the biggest narcissist I've ever listened to. Everything is always about him. He thought he'd smooth talk the judge into sending him to a mental hospital instead of prison. He wanted to go there because he knows the other inmates are going to make his life hell! I read a comment today from an employee at a Wisconsin prison who said the inmates have been watching his trial
I can’t wait for him to finally end up in general population! I have a feeling that no matter where he ends up, someone will be looking for him & when they find him….. I really can’t wait! He’s got the other charges to take care of, but those aren’t going to take very long to resolve… either way, it’s only a matter of time! Good riddance!!!
Something tells me his sorry rear will be put in its place in prison. Truly a vile human being. I just can't imagine how in the world all these victims listening to this despicable human being atempting to manipulate the judge and the system itself and ONLY concerned about himself over and over and over, I don't know how they did it. I really don't.
Thank you for the awesome analysis. I’m also in Waukesha, have lived here since 2013. It’s a great place to live. I pray the victims have had their day in court and they can start their healing now.
This Judge is an inspiration. She is an amazing example for me for what and who I aspire to be. I without doubt could never have had the patience she showed every single day. Her love of the law of this country should be an example to us all. Thank you Judge Dorow.
I've never seen victim impact statements before and it was so sad. I've never seen a trial where a defendant treated a judge like this. Hopefully his name will be forgotten and rot in jail...
I wish, during the trial, the judge would have made the court officer force brooks 2 sit when she told him to, and when he would say crap like I LET you finish, she would have told him YOU aren't LETTING me do anything I run this court not you. And when he started spewing crap about his constitutional right, she should have educated him that being a sovereign citizen he has no constitutional rights, I think.
Peter, Thank you so much for your awesome coverage on this. Wow, I had not heard anything about his calls from jail and I about fell off my chair, his vindictiveness is truly frightening and I found it interesting when the judge mentioned how the Officer just might've saved Erica's life. Throughout his closing, well throughout the trial I kept thinking about my Papa. He had a horrific childhood - Papa and his brother were raised in a small town in Texas, basically the town looked after them and raised them. He ( and his brother) were terribly abused physically by their father, he was a hard core alcoholic, womanizer, sort of a con man, they were very poor. Papa and his bro were left on their own most of the time, zero guidance, in this day and age they would've been in foster homes no doubt. His Mom really supported the family, worked many many hours and was never there for them. When my Dad was eight he contracted polio, before he was diagnosed his Dad would kick him hard in the a-- because he would stumble. Papa ended up living wih an aunt in a different town and was confined to bed for over a year with no company and little hope of survival. He told me he would talk to God all the time and promised him he'd do his beckoning if he could just survive ( he was the only one out of four in his town to survive, this was in the 30's) and survive he did. He went on to get his pilot's license at 15, went to Baylor, entered the Navy, became a fighter pilot, then instructor then back to fighter pilot, (was on a carrier) his true true love in life besides Mom. He had a very successful career in the Navy, many awards for dog fighting and he loved it, his brother was a very successful marketing agent for Southland Corp. ( they used to own all the 7-11's, I don't know if they still do) and was instrumental in developing the Slurpee !! My Papa was the most decent, the most honest person I've ever known and I tell this abbreviated story of his childhood for one reason only - he, and his brother, had every excuse in the world to do nothing with their life and become losers yet they did not and in fact made lives for themselves, good wholesome and satisfying lives, my Papa served his country for 30 years and was solid, we always knew we could count on him. And he was a kind man . I could not muster even one iota of empathy and certainly not sympathy for DB. I am so tired of people using their childhoods for their excuse to be a horrible wretched person or to do nothing at all or to just basically lose at life or to destroy others lives when they wouldn't do anything with their own. I found DB to be a truly narcissistic and disgusting man who deserves every minute of his sentence for the rest of his sorry life. This judge was absolutely incredible, and so were the victims, it was almost difficult to remember they were sitting there listening to him and having to endure this. That is where all my empathy and sympathy lies, as well it should. I am so relieved that this judge covered every angle so DB has no chance at an appeal. But as I mentioned in a different comment I definitely believe he should be tried in his other cases because there are victims there as well that deserve justice. And as we all agree, all victims deserve justice. God help all the victims.
I agree with your sentiment and congratulations to your dad overcoming awful circumstances and breaking the cycle. However I cannot condone dog fighting. Different times, I know, but simply cruel.
He literally got thrown out. Asks to come back to ask to go back out. Then gets thrown back out. Now he wants back in lol What in the actual hell is wrong with him. It’s like he wants to be in there but only if he can run his mouth. The second he heard her say “This was not done Bc of mental illness.” His face went 🤨.
OMG, brooks is so easy to hate. I can't imagine what all of the women in his life went through dealing with this guy for 40 years. Even from prison, I'm sure he''ll manipulate his family.
Thanks Peter for doing this review I was so angry when I listened to DB monologue it was just so frustrating. ❤️ everything Judge D said, so eloquent, so fair and just, and so on point.
Thank you for the coverage of this trial. You help us all to make sense of some of the components of the process that could easily be left unturned. So thankful that Judge Dorow was able to not only shut him down and be firm today, but that she called him on his bullshit, and let him know that his chances to pull his stunts are no longer worth her time, the court's time, or the victims/families time. His part is over. And she let him know that. So gratifying.
He’s NOT boarderline. He has ONE feature that is like boarderline and that’s having trouble with interpersonal relationships. Boarderline is as far opposite as you can get from narcissism, which is exactly what this jackass has.
I really appreciate you covering televised cases like this. This was a very difficult case to watch, but I think watching the process gives a much needed sense of transparency. It really helps to understand how the justice process actually works when you can see real cases take place, with the legal-translating help from lawyers like you. Thank you
I don’t understand why the sheriff behind him doesn’t insist he sit down when he’s told to, or any of the other directions she gives him that he doesn’t obey????
You are the best!! I really enjoy getting to hear your knowledge about the law. You are so valuable to help us understand what is happening in a legal yet human way. Thank you! You give us answers to all our questions.
@tragoslaw replay group here. You know as I watched Brooks while the victims were speaking and as I saw him writing things down. I really thought for a minute that he may be writing victims names to apologize to them personally. Well I waited an hour and never happened. Justice was served and that's a good thing! Agree with all your points and thoughts. Thanks
I followed this trial intently from beginning to end watching it live and then again here for the commentary. Here we are on the final day and I fell asleep while the defendant rambled on for two hours. I just couldn't tolerate him any longer. His behaviour yesterday with the eye rolling and giggling while the victims gave their statements was the final straw for me.
I have to admit that I did Skip forward a few times today when DB was going on and on and on. It's like watching a train wreck. It's so exhausting trying to make sense out of what he's saying or figure out what's going on in his head and where he thinks he's going with this nonsense.
He is demonstrating his narcissism. Perfectly. He brow beats..... interrupts, can't listen cant comprehend what is being said because he wants to push her down and weaken her words. He believes what he says and thinks is right because he is the only person that matters. Is there any chance an appeal will be successful - for him.?
Can someone please Clockwork orange this guy + Hannibal Lector him. I wish someone would do what Joe did to Cleveland after he asked him if he'd get a vasectomy.
Its so incredible that he stands there waving his objection sign as THE JUDGE describes his DEPRAVED INDIFFERENCE TO THE NEEDS OF OTHERS. NOT A WORD OF WHAT SHE IS SAYING HAS ANY EFFECT ON HIM AT ALL.
I loved how she explained the mental health issues. As a psych nurse she was spot on with all the explanations, also how she bought up the issue with the mum and nan. She wasn’t going to let them get away with making excuses for him. In fact she was very clear about mitigating factors! At least we had no back and forth arguments between them both which was a nice change. It will take a very long time, if at all, Darell Brooks will ever, in some way recognize what he has done and feel any remorse. Such a sad day, no winners just losers. For me there is at least hope for the victims because they are strong, supportive of one another and have faith. My heart goes out to them all 🙏🏻❤️
Yes, I thought it was brilliant the way she covered all the different aspects of what came up in the trial... especially what his mother and grandmother said. It made everything very clear. I also love that she brought up his phone calls to his ex threatening and brow beating her. Still a very sad day, everybody lost. My heart goes out to Waukesha.
I think at his age, it's too late for him to change. I typically see people who offended very young ever up being completely different people by their 30's or so, but this dude committed these crimes in his late 30's. That along with his complete lack of empathy, zero insight, and zero self awareness, he's not changing. (Just my opinion)
God bless Judge Darow ; God bless DA Sue Opper & for this case to be done in LESS than 1 year. Wish we had protectors Florida. I am without help (except being billed by attorneys) for three years.
I was THRILLED when I heard that they moved him from a regular prison to WSPF (Boscobel, WI). This is a supermax facility where he can spend 23 hours a day arguing with himself alone in his cell.
I hope DA Opper knows what a great job she did. It was a great TEAM effort!!❤
I was disgusted when he said his conscience was clear.
He was simply a regrettable sperm donor. 👶🏽👶🏽👶🏽
Today was Judge Dorow’s day! She finally gets to say what we all needed to hear from her. Conclusion. Resolution. Sentence. Praise Jesus!
Amen, Patty! Amen!
I bet she feels free!
💙 Judge Dorow is worthy of the title Your Honor. What an incredible example of integrity, compassion, and professionalism. #bigfanofjustice
I agree. She is an excellent representative of the best of our system.
Judge gave him exactly what he deserves.
Absolutely agree ❤
Absolutely agree, she’s the best judge I’ve ever seen. So was the judge in the Ahmoud Arbory case. I don’t remember his name, but he was also a shining beacon of justice. His remarks were profound, as were Judge Dorow’s. They both seemed exceptionally professional, fair and knowledgeable in their field. People doubted her, I was frustrated with her at times, but she had an end game and she exceeded our expectations in the end.
@nicolewheeler5837 ok, oookkay, "kin we tauk?"
Cause I could NOT have said it better🙏❣️ y'ear meh🙏❣️👌
I've never hated a a stranger until I stumbled upon Darrell Brooks. Rolling his eyes, sarcastically clapping his hands, mockingly patting his heart while the victims were speaking, all of that really got to me yesterday. I actually felt legitimate hate for this guy after that.
Same!!!
I agree with you. What a vile individual he is.
I couldn't agree more, I'm not American I'm English & I absolutely loathe this mass murderer. Honestly I never seen anything like this awful man.
Put him in population!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!!
He has apologized previously to the judge for his behavior with the same results. He isn't contrite, just manipulative. It would seem that this is the pattern of his entire life.
An apology to him is just another move on his game board. I’d say chess board, but for him he’d be playing multiple rounds of LIFE.
Having been involved with a narcissist, I can confirm it's used with the expectation that all will be forgiven and forgotten. "But I SAID I was SORRY!"
"Not only am I sorry for what happened..." It didn't "happen", you did it and you did it on purpose. That's no apology at all.
He speaks like he was just an innocent bystander
I got second hand embarrassment when that mom refused to acknowledge what happened as an attack or murder. Just as I thought she has never held him accountable for anything.
I'm mesmerised by this woman. Not only by her professionalism, fairness, patience but as a human being in whole. I loved her sentencing speech
I fully appreciated the depth and length of her speech, all grounds covered, and nothing left to appeal.
This judge covered her I's and t's her sentence was a no way out except prison for life without parole.
And she is making sure everything is on the record and mean we every thing and all through the trail he says he doesn't understand or a lot of BS
Love how the Green Bay defensive line descends on Darrell at the end to march him off to the rest of his life.
I’m from Waukesha - I’ve really appreciated your coverage of this trial. Thank you, Peter! 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
I'm so sorry for the horror that your community had to endure at the hands of this monster. That being said, you have an angle in Judge Dorow. I'm glad that Darrell Brooks will experience hell on earth for the remainder of his natural life. Much love from Ontario Canada.

The fact that he missed the vehicles to hit the people!😤
Yes, intent. I don’t know how an attorney cannot see that.
Yes that is what is intentional when he did not hit one vehicle but hit all those defenseless people that's disgusting he is a POS and he is evil
You are so right that is what I don't understand he doesn't hit one vehicle but hit all those poor people he is a coward and a monster
He didn't apologize. He said he was sorry for what happened to the victims - not that he was sorry for what he did to them!
Exactly 💯
Alot of people thought, and may still today. He didn’t want to apologize, fearing it would hurt if he did get a retrial. He’d being admitting guilt. Though we know nothing is absolute. I feel he has 1% chance for one!!!!
@@Misty-ds8yo He never said he didn't do it

I think his lack of swearing in the courtroom shows how calculated his outbursts were during the trial.
Loved how to spite him and honor Erica she refused to use the time served on her charge. Says it all that that´s what he wanted
He tried to DRIVE OVER THIS JUDGE AND COURT with his nonsensical blabbering !!!
He didnt even bump this Judge
A strong woman who held her cool until sentence today. I love her and believe she is a HERO
I'm glad Judge Dorow didn't fall for his last taunt from the other courtroom. She was done with him.
He is uncontrollable. He can’t understand human loss. He feels like a victim, when he is the cause of all this terrible tragedy. He is disturbed.
When his mother dies Darrell will understand grief.
Yes he is a disturbing person. His only sympathy is for himself. Attorney Opper said it best. He has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
I can't believe his audacity to ask for time served.
Wasn't his time served about 355 days? 😅😅😅😅
He wanted the charge with Erika for time served he's disgusting
@@georgiabadon2577 Yep! It was a good touch for the judge to credit the time to a life-without-parole sentence so as to not tarnish any victim's charge
He lost it when the judge praised Erika for her “grace.”
Just like he did not like it when Kori and Nick came to her rescue that day because she doesn't have anyone to be on her side all those years of abuse
He didn't drop tears for the victims. He dropped eye rolls
My heart goes out to the victims and their families.
Judge Darrow was certainly Vindicated today. She wasn't being 'too nice'... she was taking notes. I just love how she wound things up. She 'nailed his ass' (movie reference, Guss Petch, Intolerable Cruelty)
Omg! I first read that as "vindictive" not vindicated....
My eyes are swollen from the tears.
Your comment is spot on!
@@jenniferthomas5926 watching this trial was heartbreaking. I felt like I needed to hear what happened to these people and what they had to say, to witness it for them so they were heard. I know it was draining but I think all of our hearts grew from the stories. The victims did not die in vain.
Hugs to you!

I love it when she says we are off the record you go Judge Dorow
*Poor me, poor me, poor me!* "
Well said!
Yes, that about sums it up.
@@radiantmessenger3369 thanks! I had to say it out loud a few times to make sure I was correctly saying what I thought he was saying 😜

He's only used Christ & his Bible as a prop in this trial.
@@louisbouchard6869 Thank you so much for the explanation.
Your not sorry for what you did, you are sorry you got caught.
That judge deserves a long break. I have no clue how she didn’t break before it was over. I think she did a great job.
I was surprised that she has a full calendar after this trial.
His mother had the nerve to say he won't survive six life sentences. Well what her son did those people didn't survive either. They had a constitution right not to be murdered or maimed by him also.

I love this judge!
I hope we see her again, be it somewhere, another case, on her own show or something. Lol. She's alluring and a class act individual.
Darrell Brooks is ALWAYS the only person on his mind.
He goes on repeatedly for almost two hours of the same dribble.
Judge Dorow has more patience than one can imagine. She went above and beyond in her dealings with DB. Great judge!
That outburst showed she did the right thing.
I was yelling at the TV the whole time
I screamed All day at the TV!!! I was so tired of listening to him! She's the greatest Judge I've ever seen. Love her!
That's music to my ears. I wish him a lifetime of absolute hell.
I lost it when she read all the victims who were murdered names and gave him life for each one.

Judge Darow was amazing. I feel like I would want her as a judge, innocent or guilty.
@@ThePolypam I think she meant with fighter jets
@@patchlady47-dr4gn Oh, that would be a strange predictive text error but that does change my reaction, thanks!
The Judge was amazing but she must be totally exhausted
OMG, brooks is so easy to hate. I can't imagine what all of the women in his life went through dealing with this guy for 40 years. Even from prison, I'm sure he''ll manipulate his family.
Rehabilitated or not , that perp should NEVER get out of prison
Thanks Peter for doing this review I was so angry when I listened to DB monologue it was just so frustrating. ❤️ everything Judge D said, so eloquent, so fair and just, and so on point.
She's an excellent communicator.
She was totally awesome!!
I really appreciate you covering televised cases like this. This was a very difficult case to watch, but I think watching the process gives a much needed sense of transparency. It really helps to understand how the justice process actually works when you can see real cases take place, with the legal-translating help from lawyers like you. Thank you
6 life sentences plus 762 years and that, Mr. Brooks, is your proof of jurisdiction!
I think we all, especially the judge, needs a vacation after this! Or a good meal!
Nothing is absolute. So IMO, he has 1% chance for one!!!
FYI Darrell Brooks is 40 for sure. Born February 2,1982. I am so proud to live in Waukesha ❤️
Judge did awesome 👏🏻
Thank you for your sensitive coverage of this case Peter... 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
@@windywednesday4166 yes, I agree 👍
@@justthatgirl-ct4jo yes, sadly I think you might be right!...
@@justthatgirl-ct4jo can you imagine how he’s going to act with the inmates in prison? He’s going to get himself in trouble all the time.
Absolutely love, the lawyer you know
The time served thing was the best line in the whole trial. I laughed so hard we he said that.
You have wonderful insight. Thank God, we don’t have to see and listen to Brooks any more.
All good Peter!!Thanks again for breaking down this content, always knowledgeable fun, really appreciate your time 🙂✌️
So grateful for you breaking this clown show down.
God bless Judge Darow ;
God bless DA Sue Opper & for this case to be done in LESS than 1 year.
Wish we had protectors Florida.
I am without help (except being billed by attorneys) for three years.
I would never visit Florida. Your governor is a nut. How Mexicans in that state can vote for him is crazy.
I was THRILLED when I heard that they moved him from a regular prison to WSPF (Boscobel, WI). This is a supermax facility where he can spend 23 hours a day arguing with himself alone in his cell.
His apology was hidden in a lot of narcissism.
That wasn't an apology. It was blaming everyone around him. Including those he hit with that vehicle.
If she didn't "interrupt", he would still be talking...
Thank you, I watched live and your additional input great commentating.
