Thanks to your awesome videos and igniting my interest in Doom Mods, I am currently working on creating my very first Doom Wad. Thanks so much for your fantastic content icarus, can honestly say yours are the videos are enjoy most. I can respect a man who enjoys his Doom as much as he does his Tea. Praise Teasus.
Looks exhausting, but I admire the ambition of storytelling in Doom. I've found myself gravitating more towards vanilla maps lately though, probably due to burnout from attempting Knee Deep In ZDoom. Busy, heavily detailed maps hurt my eyes after a while. (Hey, looks like I'm the 666th viewer. Awesome.)
I like to picture you as a Doom playing AI because of how much you know about the base game plus how polished your voice clips are. Then your said missing a door caused you trouble and I thought, haha now thats a human feature!
The whole mod remind me about Mortyr 1942-2077, the future part. Even one gun looks like was took from there (the panzerfause-like wave emmiter). Effects remind me Cybermage, helluva old game made by D.W.Bradley, even harder and more awkward to play than original System Shock :D
I would say if there was a way to mark the map with a pink outline or fill-in to let a player know where they have been would be great! The back-tracking would be no more, unless there were secret areas of course for you to explore. I did find a Map Marker Mod that would be cool to use on this. I don't know much about Mods though or i would try it out.
Have you played Inquisitor 3? It's been released recently, think they worked on it for like 2 years, and I'm surprised nobody has reviewed it already. It's pretty damn amazing, and has some of the best level design (both looks and layout) I've seen in a Doom mod so far.
Pretty sure you were running a slightly outdated version as 1.3 removed the annoying flash on the "bubble gun". That said, as someone who was testing this before release and currently tinkering with it on the side, I agree with all critiques mentioned. I've been chatting with the OG dev about getting an update out that might rework a fair bit of the game to fix those problems, but time and life needs to permit it to happen first - here's hoping it doesn't take another ten years. :)
It looks ambitious as hell and actually really pretty to look at. However, my biggest pet peave in old school DooM fps games is constantly getting lost with a useless map, so...
Hey Icarus. I wanted to suggest a mod for you to review. It's called Lazarus mod. It has Doom 4 weapons and some mechanics taken from it as well. I think you would like it. ^^
Do i only need the "SCMain.wad" v1.3 to play that mod? Because the SCMain.zip file, hosted on Dropbox is down. I tryed to start GZDoom with die SCMain.wad but i have no sounds and no textures.... any help?
You need to load all the wads. You can download original scmain.zip here www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/s-u/scmain Just use updated SCMain.wad from Dropbox instead.
2:15 - The Incendiary Shotgun is like the Fireswarm from Turok 3.
3:45 - "F***ING BUBBLES!"
The defunct Cesar approves this from his grave...

I'm detecting a bit of Quake II influences in the aesthetic and level design.
"It's a weapon. It's *really* powerful, especially against living things!"
I love the fact that you include the links because then it becomes so easy to check if the mod has been updated since the vid was made, :3

wouldn't be an Icarus video without staring at the floors while navigating levels. look up man
WOW you're funny!

Anyone else notice that the monster at 4:03 uses a recolor of the sprite set for the Combat Slug from _Freedoom: Phase 2_?
Wow, I really love the cartoony look of this.
The whole mod remind me about Mortyr 1942-2077, the future part.

Hey anyone remember the mod he covered where you can pick up a toilet seat and use it as a melee weapon?
Gaaah, I love the sonic shotgun bubble launcher thing. I agree about the maps, though: they're way too damn over-detailed and I constantly get lost.

Kudos for anyone who finds the dead pinky!!
Got to love the Combat Slugs from Freedoom, though. Yeah, they're not original to the mod but they're still awesome.

The screen flash effect of "bubble launcher" should gtfo
Wait what? Water in doom engine???
Have you considered reviewing Ultimate Torment and Torture?
Amazing video, as always!
Check out Bloody Steel map pack. It has very realistic, straightforward and mostly balanced levels.
For some reason neither the textures or the music loads for me.
Such a bummer.
Anyone know how I could possibly fix this?
I saw in the top right when you used idkfa it said Unknown command: DSLeash. Have you been playing Doomstorm?
I can't get this mod to worker every time i boot up the textures are missing
hey will you ever do a top 10 or top 5 of your favourite mod so far? just asking tho
Sonic bubbles.
He likes a little more intel with his intel
13:40 - The Combat Slug from Freedoom.
Isn't a Combat Slug just a Snail? I mean, a snail is essentially an armored Slug, so... just sayin'.
Yeah the Freedoom assets are credited IIRC, I had to use them because 3/4 of the enemies didn't have their sprites after the artist left.
How can I play these mods? I only have BFG Edition and I heard that it doesn't support mods.
how about Psychophobia mod?
It looks ambitious as hell and actually really pretty to look at. However, my biggest pet peave in old school DooM fps games is constantly getting lost with a useless map, so...
No doom mod madness this week?
The visuals remind me of CyberMage.
Icarus you really need to do a review of Psychophobia Mod
Icarus, what game genres do you like besides FPS?
Hey Icarus. I wanted to suggest a mod for you to review. It's called Lazarus mod. It has Doom 4 weapons and some mechanics taken from it as well. I think you would like it. ^^
What's with the left hand?
i need this
Do you ever do mods for other games?

Thank you, i couldn't find it. Now it works perfectly.
Nicce, niccccce!
this mode really feels like Unreal 1, due to color palette.
Does this recording have dropped frames in it?
some wads would be great stuff like the hell on earth starter pack. But anyway keep up :-)
Protip: Alt fires are available.
I'm good because of this reason!
Downloading :D
It just proofs, gaming material on consoles is finite. But on PC, its infinite!
dandy mod
Is this what they call "Notification Squad" ?
There's enough Wolf3d and Doom stuff to last me forever... don't stop!!!!
I wanna crush so goddamn souls!!! Metal \m/
DO MOON- erm nevermind..
"diystopian" -i, 1st i.
It looks cool, but the weapons felt quite underwhelming and not very fun to use.
Early Squad! :D
