Best Drmo hands down on the Vox StompLab IIG. This was the deal breaker for me. Thanks for taking the time to make it very clear what this pedal can really do..
Thanks bro. I just bought my sl2g and just 2 minutes in, & I'm confident this video will teach me how to use expression pedal as wah. Awesome and thanks again. 🔥🤘
Ok, so I just got one of these as a gift. Love the idea but I'm not sure of something, perhaps I'm missing something. I'm noticing pretty significant discrepancy in volume between different presets. Can this be fixed or is it just the way this unit is?
Absolutely you can adjust the volume for each user patch/preset.......the user manual (downloadable) goes through the steps to do this. With a little trial and error, you'll find it's pretty easy.
Hi Leonardo. Sorry for such a late response. I believe you can do this by using "pitch shift" as your modulation effect and then assign the foot pedal to change the Value 1 parameter. A little complicated, but I think the user manual can provide some additional guidance.
Here is what happened: There is no "GBL" in the program/value display. Do you mean "GL" in the program setting window and then the A2 value? There is also no "pedal setting button" to be found anywhere. Do you mean the "assign" button next to the pedal, or do you mean the "PDL" setting used in edit mode? Even more confused.
thanks for the video, after researching on internet i found some review about sl2g they say it is noisy for high gain stuff nd m confused between sl2g and zoom g1xon which one to buy. zoom is full of plastic does it last long for live gig. can i get slash sound from it if i can,do u make a video of famous artist sounds that we can get from this pedal. will appreciate ur help :)
Hi there. I'm not sure I know of a specific reason what not to go with a Tonelab product. It just depends on what you are trying to do with the pedal. Are you trying to play live or are you primarily looking to record?
Dennis McCarthy Hi Dennis. There is a really good description of how to set the pedal to the volume function on page 11 (top of page) of the user manual. I simply downloaded it off the internet - no problem. Try this....if it doesn't make sense, let me know and we'll figure it out together Dennis.
Thank you. I'll give that a try I've already invested way too much time in this and just can't get it set so I can use it. I bought because the AC30 Amplug2 sounded so great, I thought this would sound even better. Maybe its me lol. Thanks again.
Hello!, great video, i would like to know if i can make my own program of effects, i mean if i want to use the effect N°34 for rythm and the N°54 for soloing, Can i put them one next to the other and just change with on press on the foot button. Sorry if my english isn't good.... And thanks in advanced, great vids!
So i program the number "x" the way i like and that's it? Thanks!!! I thought that the 100 presets were fixed and that i just can make changes in the 20 "user" presets... Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!
You are correct in that you can only make 20 defined user programs. However, you can start from one of the 100 factory presets, modify it, and then save it to one of your 20 user programs. You can decide which of the programs you want the edited effect to be....for example, maybe you want your rhythm guitar to be user program #6, and your solo guitar to be user program #7. There is a lot of information in the user manual.....very easy to download. Thx. for the questions, Diego.
I bought one of these earlier this year. I was wondering, for those who use it live, how many mostly use the presets/user settings, and how many tweak on the fly in edit mode?
Does it start off on the expression pedal as a volume pedal and you press down on pedal to change it to wah or whatever you want it to be? Or does the volume pedal have to be chosen internally and set up on expression pedal like all the other functions that use the expression pedal?
HumbleHeartMinistry I can't remember....however, you may have to assign the volume to the expression pedal if it doesn't have an effect when the expression pedal is not "active". With that said, using it as a volume pedal is a little different, as doing that requires you to program the pedal for volume in the (GBL) (Value 2) location rather than using the (PDL) location on the category knob.
Minha stomp nao está mais saindo som, o que pode ter acontecido.. ela passa todos os bancos afina mas não está tem os sons reproduzidos. O que pode ter acontecido? Desde ja agradeço
Hi! Thanks for the video. My question is - once you've assigned the function for the pedal in the edit mode, will it become valid for all the programs after that? For example, if I assign a wah, will it be the wah pedal for all the pre-set effects? If I would like to have one function for the pedal all the time for all effects, - is it possible? Thank you for your answer!
Dima Ulyanov Hi Dima. No it will not. It will only be the wah function for that particular preset. When you click off of that preset, it will go to whatever function it's set for on the new preset. Does that make sense?
+Guezzhula - Depending upon your rig, I would choose one of the clean amps and dial in a decent amount of compression. Not so much that you get the "pop", but enough to even out the highs of the clean tone. Hope that is a starting point for you. Dial in a little bit of gain and amp volume and you should be able to get somewhat close. Thanks for the question.
Hi! First that all thx for the video! Now my question is: do you recomend it as a modulation pedal trough the fx loop? Can it work in Bypass or at least can you turn off the amp/cab modulation without altering the original tone? Thank you!
Diego Riaño Hi Diego. I'm pretty sure, you can turn off the amp/cab section, and then just use the modulation. However, I'm not sure about the Stomplab being used in an effects loop.....doesn't look like the manual talks much about that usage.
Hi, I was wondering if there was any way to assign distortion to the expression pedal, so that I can play with a clean sound, then push the pedal and add distortion to my sound without reaching down and turning the knobs. Thanks!
spiritd4ys Good question. The pedal can be assigned to the Value 1 or Value 2 knob......which all the effects use to change their parameters....including delay or reverb. Very funcional.
Don't, don't use modelling amps with any pedal. It's going to sound like ass. You need a real transistor or real tube amp with no modeling crap to use a multi fx.
Your best bet may be to take your Vox into a store when you can try the two in combination, since tastes definitely vary widely from guitar player to guitar player.
I received this as a Christmas gift and it works great with my Vox amp as I am able to use the clean channel on the amp and use the presets from the StompLab giving me several amazing metal tone along with a bunch of other tones. Thanks for the input though guys I really appreciate it.
i just want to ask if the expression pedal is still can used in the clean tones, and if it is possible to use the expression pedal in other distorted pedal to use it as volume or wah if i add it to my pedal chain. thanks brother.
How to use it as volume pedal? I can't find any? And I kinda confuse with the 'GLOBAL' setting. I lke the A1-A3 sound for direct to mixer or headphone although it recommends to use Ln. IS there any explanation why? Am I choosing it wrong to use A1 directly to mixer?
+Grammatical Erorr Hi there. Have you downloaded the user manual? I believe one way is to utilize the pedal when you are editing the individual AMP/DR level. If you want to set the overall "Master" volume, that is when you use the GBL Categrory selection. In terms of the A1, A2, A3 vs. L1, this is simply a difference in the signal strength. The "A" signals are instrument level signals and are designed to go straight into a guitar amplifier. the L1 signal is a line level and is designed to go into a mixer, headphones, etc. It is important to make sure the signal level is appropriate for the device it is going into.
I am wondering if can use expression pedal as Wah pedal while playing heavy metal category there? Can you please also let me know if we can add delay to any of those categories?
Good question. When you're adjusting the Auto Wah effect (on the "Pedal" Category), the "Value 1" knob adjusts the Sensitivity/Polarity, per the User's Manual.
The point is polarity and phase are often confused but are not the same thing. Polarity can either be normal or inverted (and when inverted could be described as a 180° phase shift). Phase is measured in degrees, so can be adjusted incrementally. Unfortunately guitarists have a history of misusing terminology - eg tremolo & vibrato. In this context it's not such a big deal I guess, but it would be better if respected manufacturers would be more diligent in correctly utilizing technical terminology.
I've got a question which is really important: does it have an opportunity to save effects in diffrent order that they are? I have a big concert for 2 days and I have to change the effects order a bit to use it like a footswitch :/
Yes....I believe so. For each of the categories (CAB, DLY, AMP/DR), I think you use the up and down arrows to turn them on/of. Set them all to off....other than the way and you should be good to go.
Hi Priyam. Sorry for taking so long to get back with you. Yes, the Stomplab has both expression and volume. Unfortunately, I don't believe it has drumbeats. Thanks for the questions.
+Rodrigo Yanes Hey there, my friend. In order to save, you need to select "WRITE" on the category knob then select your preset location. FYI - The user manual is easy to find (and download) on the internet.
Depends on the settings for the pedal. If you have a high gain amp selected, you could have a note sustain for a very long time. Same applies with a heavy distortion pedal or a lot of compression. Thx. for the question Allen.
Great review man! I am planning to buy a cheap processor. Shall I go for this one or RP55? I find stomplab's sound more authentic while 55 sounds too digitalized
Satyam Dwivedi Hi Satyam. I haven't reviewed the RP55, but the Stomplab does have some pretty good tones.....I would bet that it could be a better choice.
Atanu - Have you downloaded the user manual? It's very easy to get; check out pages 8 through 13. It gives a pretty decent explanation of creating and saving patches.
Hey Jeremy. Thanks for the question. I didn't notice any significant tone loss when using the StompLab IIG. Let me know if you have additional questions. Feel free to check out the AskAGuitarPro website as well. See ya!
+Raymond Baglari Hi Raymond. I think so.....assuming your acoustic guitar is sending an instrument level signal, you should be able to send it into most processors that are designed to accept instrument level signals. Check the user manuals for the device your are considering, to be sure.
Hi, I am from India. I am using this processor for last 1 year. But the concept is not fully clear to me. 1) There are almost 100 in built tones in different categories like Blues, Rock etc. Can I copy or edit those tones? If yes, how? Because while editing or creating new tone, the tones get changed. The Rock becomes Modulation, Hard Rock becomes Delay, Metal becomes Reverb. 2) The expression pedal is not functioning in many of the 100 in built tones, but the pedal light is turned on. 4) The expression pedal does not work as the volume controller in WAH tone. Is there any other option apart from GBL? 5) What is ideal GBL parameter for live performances? 6) How can i improve the sound quality of my VOX Stomplab IIG? Do i need any interface? If yes, what do you recommend? Will the iRig2 device work? Though it is for mac devices. Sorry for asking too many questions. :)
subhajit chanda Hi subhajit. I'll try to answer your questions, here. 1) You can start the editing process by pressing edit and adjust of the parameters of the preset.....you'll then need to save to one of the 20 user banks. 2) The expression pedal may be assigned to modulation or something other than volume or wah...and you might not be noticing it....either way, you can disengage it for any of your user programs, if you'd like. 4) I'm not sure you can change the volume and the wah at the same time with the expression pedal. 5) I think it's generally preferred to have the Stomplab's output (GBL value) set high and adjust your volume at the amp. A weak output from the Stomplab could sound muddy at the amp. 6) What, specifically, are you finding, sound wise, that needs to improved?
Sure. As for the Green Day tone, I'd dial in any of the higher gain UK Amp presets. From there, you should be able to have the gain about halfway up and get close. Pretty easy to achieve metal tones, as well. The Tube Screamer, itself, will only get you so much gain, unless you are planning on using in front of an overdriven amplifier.
To "Guitar Shredder's" Question. I don't believe the Vox Stomplab has a direct out for recording directly to a computer.....you'll need to mic an amp or find an interface to get the signal to your computer. I'd say the high gain metal distortion settings are maybe a little above average.
+AskAGuitarPro Hello I'm thinking about buying this pedal. I'm a beginner, and in search for some effects for playing some pink floyd. Is this pedal good enough; has it some correct delay and rever? Thanks for answering ;-)
hey man, I'm a beginner and i was about to add new stuff in my gear....right now i have a simple 10W Laney amplifier (it doesn't have any settings other than bass/treble and has an overdrive channel). so should i buy a better amplifier or should i buy this pedal? I play metal and rock 'n roll mainly.
@@djbmanifestomode yo! I got stomplab 1g. Its okayish with small amps but with larger amps its really nice. If you can spend a bit more i would advise you to get something better and not this one as it is intended for beginners only......you cant get out much with this as you progress. The pedal started giving me problems with the metal buttons after 4 months.... 6/10 overall. Not that good but not that bad either. Get an adapter for power because it will suck up batteries real quick.
Sure. Just pick a lower gain amp or pedal setting on the Stomplab and run it into the clean channel on your amp. As you probably know, running a strat style guitar with single coil pickups will be key to nail the SRV tone.
Siam - You might be able to get close with one of the high gain amp models. Start with the US High Gain 1 or 2. You'll definitely need a guitar with humbuckers.
+AskAGuitarPro I need some help! Im 90% sure i will get this as a christmas present and i was just wondering how do i plug it in to my guitar/amp? I have a guitar, an amp and a Cable from the guitar to the amp. What more do i need? Do i need even more Cables and what type of Power supply does this one need. Great video btw
Hey there, my friend. You will need to get another 1/4" guitar/instrument cable that will get you from the Stomplab's output to the amp. So here is the breakdown: Guitar - Guitar cable to input of Stomplab - Stomplab output to Amp input. Make sense, SaJGoN?
Bro, your guitar playing sounds great, and your video gives me a decent idea of what I'm getting here, but realistically I can't hear a damn word you're saying.,.. But you still get a thumbs up
I've had this thing for about five months, and no one seems to be able to explain how to use the expression pedal as a simple volume pedal. I've searched every word written about it on the internet, read the manual over and over, but there is no explanation anywhere of to make the pedal's "target' a volume. None of the eight possible "PDL" targets is for a volume pedal, and there isn't a word about how to do this in the manual. This demo doesn't explain it either. Really sorry I bought this. Another piece of Vox junk.
Otis - Not sure if this answers your question.....I grabbed this from the user manual...."To assign volume to the expression pedal, press the pedal setting button after the master volume ([GBL] VALUE2) appears on the program/value display. "CP" will appear briefly on the program/value display and the volume can be changed by using the expression pedal".
Must commend your generosity in replying to all the queries. Well done !

Good question. The StompLab is plugged into my Peavey Valve King amplifier.
It sure does, although you have to program it for each of the patches you create. Good question.
I was thinking of getting one of these but geez,,, I wear a size 12!
is it plugged into an amp or consol or sound system??
Good point. I'll do a video on the pedal with distortion. Thanks for the feedback my friend.
heck with the pedal... you oughta demo crocs, where did you get those?
i want the wow wow can’t find it on there …
Ok, so I just got one of these as a gift. Love the idea but I'm not sure of something, perhaps I'm missing something. I'm noticing pretty significant discrepancy in volume between different presets. Can this be fixed or is it just the way this unit is?

How to assign volum the pedal ?
Hi ! Great demo, but I have a question: does this pedal have a pitch control or whammy effect?
This pedal have whammy effect like Tom Morello plays ? +1 oct , +2oct controlling by the expression pedal ?
Hi Leonardo. Sorry for such a late response. I believe you can do this by using "pitch shift" as your modulation effect and then assign the foot pedal to change the Value 1 parameter. A little complicated, but I think the user manual can provide some additional guidance.
does it have a looper on na
great Demo.thnx man.grtz Marcel

Does it have good high gain metal distortion settings? and can it be used for recording?
thanks for the video, after researching on internet i found some review about sl2g they say it is noisy for high gain stuff nd m confused between sl2g and zoom g1xon which one to buy. zoom is full of plastic does it last long for live gig. can i get slash sound from it if i can,do u make a video of famous artist sounds that we can get from this pedal. will appreciate ur help :)
Thanks for the video. I wish you would organize them in playlists, though.
What's the argument against moving up to the Tonelab models? Is it purely a price thing or is this little stomp built better for the stage?
Hi there. I'm not sure I know of a specific reason what not to go with a Tonelab product. It just depends on what you are trying to do with the pedal. Are you trying to play live or are you primarily looking to record?
Does it have a sustain effect like the freeze effect in boss me series, by which i can sustain notes?
Interesting video thanks but how do you set the pedal as a simple volume control,
Dennis McCarthy Hi Dennis. There is a really good description of how to set the pedal to the volume function on page 11 (top of page) of the user manual. I simply downloaded it off the internet - no problem. Try this....if it doesn't make sense, let me know and we'll figure it out together Dennis.
Just got the pedal and ALL I want to do is switch from clean to dirty with the tap of my foot. How do I do that?
Thank you. I'll give that a try I've already invested way too much time in this and just can't get it set so I can use it. I bought because the AC30 Amplug2 sounded so great, I thought this would sound even better. Maybe its me lol. Thanks again.
I'll try to help you offline......with the answers. Let's exchange emails.
Hello!, great video, i would like to know if i can make my own program of effects, i mean if i want to use the effect N°34 for rythm and the N°54 for soloing, Can i put them one next to the other and just change with on press on the foot button. Does it have a function/mode of simple Volume Pedal?
#Fantastic rundown!
Hi, does it have a Looper function and Tap?
Hi. Which amp model are you reccomend to emulate Tony Iommi's and David Gilmour's sound?
Do you know how to assign the volume pedal to a user patch?

can you please tell me how can I assign volume to the expression pedal...would be of great help :)

While using the wah setting can I get the effect Kirk Hammett gets when he play the solo for Unforgiven III?
+Arjun Saxena You can probably get close. I believe a trick to nailing this tone is making sure you're on the neck pick up and above the 12th fret.
Hi,
I was wondering if there was any way to assign distortion to the expression pedal, so that I can play with a clean sound, then push the pedal and add distortion to my sound without reaching down and turning the knobs. Thanks!
Never mind you can just push the "up" and "down" pedals at the same time and it removes any effect.
Basically going into "tuning mode"
are they the only things the pedal can be assigned to? could I use it to change parameters for delay or reverb? or for any of the modulation effects?
spiritd4ys Good question. The pedal can be assigned to the Value 1 or Value 2 knob......which all the effects use to change their parameters....including delay or reverb. Very funcional.

i just want to ask if the expression pedal is still can used in the clean tones, and if it is possible to use the expression pedal in other distorted pedal to use it as volume or wah if i add it to my pedal chain. thanks brother.
I believe it can be used with the clean tones on the Stomplab so it can function as a volume or wah pedal. Is that what you question was, aldrin?
yes thank you. because i want to add it to my pedal board.
why do you demonstrate only with clean sound? put some distortion on and check the wah
how to setup to volume pedal?
ROCK-CROCS !!!! YEAHHHHHH

I am wondering if can use expression pedal as Wah pedal while playing heavy metal category there?
Can you please also let me know if we can add delay to any of those categories?
Sure...you can do both and add delay.
Can you have the pedal already set to wah so when i am playing with distortion I can just throw my foot on the pedal to gain a wah effect?
Yes, you can. The user manual provides a background on how to assign the pedal.
What are you describing about 7.30 mins in, when you use the word "polarity"? Did you mean to refer to "phase"?
Good question. When you're adjusting the Auto Wah effect (on the "Pedal" Category), the "Value 1" knob adjusts the Sensitivity/Polarity, per the User's Manual.
Oh right, so it's a term the device uses. Still makes no sense, but at least I understand!
Thanks for the interesting video.
Guy Graham I hear you......I wish the user's manual went into a little more detail in that regard.
echØrder Kind like the sweep? Toe to heel difference?
The point is polarity and phase are often confused but are not the same thing. Polarity can either be normal or inverted (and when inverted could be described as a 180° phase shift). +Marcin Mezer Hi Marcin. I'm pretty sure the effects order is fixed.....I don't believe you can change the order that the effects are routed.
+AskAGuitarPro well, that's a shame, but thank you for help anyway :)
can you also use the wah alone without any other amp modeling or effect? I must decide between this and the digitech RP360
Yes....I believe so. For each of the categories (CAB, DLY, AMP/DR), I think you use the up and down arrows to turn them on/of. Set them all to off....other than the way and you should be good to go.
how to customize my own sound?can you make a video?
Can I use this as an expression pedal for the boss katana amp? To control the wah?
I am not sure as I haven't tried this, Antonio. Have you checked the user manual?
do it have expression pedal and volume pedal both??and what about drumbeats?
Hi Priyam. Sorry for taking so long to get back with you. Yes, the Stomplab has both expression and volume. Unfortunately, I don't believe it has drumbeats. Thanks for the questions.
+AskAGuitarPro Oh NP..Tysm for help!
how do you save all that you've edited onto a preset after you're done ?
+Rodrigo Yanes Hey there, my friend. In order to save, you need to select "WRITE" on the category knob then select your preset location. FYI - The user manual is easy to find (and download) on the internet.

how is the bypass, does the it suck tone? because im thinking of getting a vox v847a or this and running it in front of my zoom g3

Can it be used with Acoustic Guitar ? or any other processor/pedal which is meant to be used only for electric, could they be used for acoustics too ?
+Raymond Baglari Hi Raymond. I think so.....assuming your acoustic guitar is sending an instrument level signal, you should be able to send it into most processors that are designed to accept instrument level signals. Check the user manuals for the device your are considering, to be sure.
AskAGuitarPro Thanks that helped. 👍☺
So no volume pedal?
Hi Mr. Opinion. Yes....I have another demo of the Stomplab, specific to the pedal and volume. Thanks for the question.
Hey Zach! Thank you so much, I actually have a Digitech Flashback...
6) What, specifically, are you finding, sound wise, that needs to improved?
can i get green day tone and a metal tone if i can i think im going too buy this rather than buying a tube screamer

Please create video - Sound like slash by vox stomblab 2g ! Please !
To "Guitar Shredder's" Question. I don't believe the Vox Stomplab has a direct out for recording directly to a computer.....you'll need to mic an amp or find an interface to get the signal to your computer. I'd say the high gain metal distortion settings are maybe a little above average.
+AskAGuitarPro Hello
I'm thinking about buying this pedal. I'm a beginner, and in search for some effects for playing some pink floyd. Is this pedal good enough; has it some correct delay and rever?
Thanks for answering ;-)
AskAGuitarPro You can plug it directly into your interface.
hey man, I'm a beginner and i was about to add new stuff in my gear....right now i have a simple 10W Laney amplifier (it doesn't have any settings other than bass/treble and has an overdrive channel). so should i buy a better amplifier or should i buy this pedal? I play metal and rock 'n roll mainly.
So what did you end up getting?
@@djbmanifestomode yo! I got stomplab 1g. Its okayish with small amps but with larger amps its really nice. If you can spend a bit more i would advise you to get something better and not this one as it is intended for beginners only......you cant get out much with this as you progress. The pedal started giving me problems with the metal buttons after 4 months.... 6/10 overall. Not that good but not that bad either. Get an adapter for power because it will suck up batteries real quick.
can it do like a tube screamer clean boost sound , like srv
Sure. Just pick a lower gain amp or pedal setting on the Stomplab and run it into the clean channel on your amp. As you probably know, running a strat style guitar with single coil pickups will be key to nail the SRV tone.
I like your crockets
Can this loop?
Hi Pulkit. I don't believe this Stomplab has a loop function. Thanks for the question.
Can i get tone like Marco sfogli.
Siam - You might be able to get close with one of the high gain amp models. Start with the US High Gain 1 or 2. You'll definitely need a guitar with humbuckers.
PS: Nothing changed with either of those two pressing and button turning sequences.
hi guys, im newbie here, but if we have this vox stomplab IIG with bad amp :\ would the sound be like this?
sorry for my bad english :D
a good guitar with a bad amp, also wouldn't sound like this. Amp is as important as guitar, if your amp is bad, get a better amp first.
lucyuen thanks lucyuen!
I have a cort TS-200 guitar..
is it bad? :/
sorry for my bad English
thank you

I need some help!
Ok! thanks man, i appriciate it man!
I love crocss
Hendix used one of these pedals
he used a wah pedal, but not this specific pedal. this specific multi fx wasnt out till the 2010's
Thank you
Seems worth the price just for the use as a stand-alone wah.....
It’s worth much more,.. especially having so many models of tones along with being able to modulate FX. It’s worth many times that price.
hello friend how I play the wah wah control the expression pedal?
wow .. its literally teeeeenny !!! :O
Bro, your guitar playing sounds great, and your video gives me a decent idea of what I'm getting here, but realistically I can't hear a damn word you're saying.,.. But you still get a thumbs up
Sorry about that, brother. Might have had a volume issue during recording. Appreciate you stopping by!
This or the zoom g1on
I'd prefer the Stomplab IIG. Thx. for the question.
nice shoes ,-)
Thanks for stopping, man!
Can you wear brown shoes size 13?
WHAT ARE THOOOOOSE?!?
в таких тапочках только кантри играть
