My son bought me this Pedal a year ago, the instructions were a little confusing so, I just played around with the knobs and been having a blast with it and now, your video just started a whole new ball game for me, you created a Monster, Lol! Great tutorial, I Highly recommend this Pedal. 😁

Nice! "CP" means copy, or stored. Stomplab 1G doesn't have Expression pedal. 2g becomes SUPERCHARGED with Expression pedal control "on the fly" over some setting - like delay or reverb time or mix, volume, compressor, rate of trem or phase etc., pitch shift (has a range of detune or one note to either octave up or down), Wah pedal (two types), and I'm maybe forgetting sonething... I bought a Stomplab, killed it, bought Zoom and Mooer, and bought another Stomplab. Won't even keep the other two for backup! Stomplab pitch slides all strings, not just one at a time. The others' wah too sensitive, turning on and off while playing. They sound grainy and fizzy. Change reverbdelay mix on those, and it ceases unnaturally - Stomplab lets reverb or delay fade! Stomplab simplicity keeps you from wasting time on too many options that all suck anyway. Yeah, I'm a fan! Oh, and Stomplab's compressor really works.
Michael Louis-thanks for the kind words. I’m glad it was helpful for you. I have used this pedal for similar things: I once used it for a full theater show when I had to travel overseas. It was amazing to be able to stick this into my guitar gig bag with a few cables. There are a lot of other pedals with more features, but I really like the sound and feel this one - feels and responds more like a real amp (to me) than many of the other processors I’ve tried. Biggest challenge for me was having only the two up/down buttons for switching patches. If you want to go from you our saved sound “03” to “06” for example, you have to hit the button three times to pass sounds “04” and “05”. OR, save your patches in a particular order so it takes only one button push to select the sound you want. Hope that makes sense. Enjoy!
I made some general patches yesterday and your tutorial really helped. I need a Wah Wah patch, but please tell me there's a way to use the expression pedal as a Wah Wah in a patch? Here's some recent tracks I cut (not with the Vox) with James "Worm" Wormworth. Drummer for the Conan O' Brien show's Basic Cable Band. ua-cam.com/video/8Zg5kwiLWN0/v-deo.html, ua-cam.com/video/Aja7XQZN5ss/v-deo.html Thanks again! Best - ML
Love the track you shared! I plan to reply directly to that video. Yes-you can absolutely use the expression pedal as wah. I will have to plug it in again to explain exactly how to do that (I think it’s one of the options you select under the PDL effects before an amp ). But another option is to find a preset sound that has the wah already engaged, then save that sound to a user bank and modify it to what you like. That is a long way to do it, but it would work. Even like a standard wah, you can turn it off and on by kicking it forward. I think it’s a very nice sounding wah too, by the way. Hope that helps!
Yeah - It's so daunting and hard to get started until you have at least an idea of how to work a new pedal! I hope this vid helps you get started and able to enjoy it!
Yes, you can definitely use this "multi-effects" pedal as only one of those effects (like you said--only as a delay, reverb pedal, distortion--even as a wah or volume pedal). What you would do in that situation is follow the above steps in Edit Mode, but turn all of the effects "off" except for the one(s) you want to use. And another cool thing--after you make all the changes you want, you can save those to certain User Patches. There aren't a whole lot of User Patches available ("u0-u9", then "U0-U9"), but your "u3" patch could be just delay, your "u4" just reverb, etc. etc. I hope that helps!
Thank you so much for this. Loved your video, now I understand how to prepare my sounds for my upcoming gig! I wanted to set up the user slots with the sounds I need throughout the show, and your tutorial works like a charm. Thanks dude!
Thanks, Cory - Now I can finally use mine correctly. I need to reset it to factory settings first. By the way, here’s how to do that: 1. While pushing in and holding the up and down arrow buttons, turn on the power. 2. The program/value display will indicate “ rL ”, and the TUNER # and LEDs will blink. Take your hand off both buttons you had been pressing. If you decide to cancel the reload operation at this point, press the down arrow button. 3. If you wish to reload the factory settings press the up arrow button. The program/value display will indicate “ Ld ” and reloading will begin. When reloading has completed, the program/value display will indicate “CP ”, and the StompLab will automatically enter Program select mode.
So glad you enjoyed it! I made the video I wish I could've found! I LOVE this little pedal! I have some older Tonelab pedals too that I use all the time. Good stuff!
Thx for the kind words ChuloDavidcito. Glad the tutorial helped you too. I was amazing that for there being quite a few vids on this pedal, none showed me how to change/store/save sounds! Glad you like the playing--I have some other earlier Vox Tonelab pedals that I like a lot too.
Thank you for this! I've been eyeing this for a while, but was hesitant because it looked cumbersome. Now that my Pod 2.0 is just about dead, I think I'm going to give this a shot.
Regarding the Bluetooth Speaker, I just used an audio cable with an 1/8” stereo male jack on each end. Coming out of the Stomplab I used an adaptor to go from the 1/4” down to the 1/8” jack, and the other end I was able to plug right into the Bluetooth speaker. Worked surprisingly well.
Hi Joseph-That’s exactly correct about the patches. When I used this live, I would anticipate every patch change I was going to need and save them accordingly. What worked well for me was to save the same patches in 2 locations (or more). For example, u1 clean, u2 distorted rhythm, u3 lead, then u4 clean (the same patch as u1) so I wouldn’t have to scroll past u3 & u2 (which you definitely would hear!) to get back to my clean sound. Then, after that song was over, I would scroll back to u1 (or whatever). Kind of a hassle for sure, but it sounds great and fits so well into my backpack or gig bag!
Thank you-I connected the output jack to that orange powered speaker that I showed in the video. It worked surprisingly well for the purpose of the video.
Hello Albert--You're English is much better than my Spanish! Yes--I connected the Stomplab to the speaker with a 1/8" to 1/8" stereo cable. The output jack of the Stomplab is 1/4", so I also had to use a Male 1/4" to 1/8" female adaptor. As far as tuning, when you're in regular "play" mode, I believe you just simultaneously press the Program UP and Program DOWN pedals, which will both mute the Stomplab and put you in tuner mode. Enjoy!
Hello Na Xyne-Thank you for the kind words-I’m glad the video was helpful! In this video I was using a mid/90’s Fender American Standard Stratocaster. The center pickup is the stock single coil, but the bridge is a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom and the neck Pickup is a Seymour Duncan Jazz Pickup. The Jazz Pickup has a great single coil sound when used in split coil position. Check ‘em out!
Yes! You could totally run this straight into any amplifier. In order for it to function more like a series of stomp boxes, you should experiment by taking the cabinet simulation off of all of the sounds. You might like it with the cabinet simulation still on, but since most pedals don’t have a cabinet feature, turning the cabinet simulation off might help the pedal behave more like normal stomp boxes. Let me know how it goes!
Dude, thanks for this Video really :D I'm one of the main promoter for vox in germany and I needed a rundown on this since i got it! Playing with my friend Yasi Hofer on saturday and I needed some travel sounds! you got me thru it! thanks! Sebastian
Your voice was sometimes hard to hear in the audio, but no biggie (I just put on headphones to hear better). In any case, your video is SUPER helpful, and exactly what I was looking for. I just got one of these yesterday, and I just want to create about 10 different basic tones, each with slight variances with different FX. The manual seems a bit confusing, but you cut right through the BS. Thank you!
Good demo. I was going to set this pedal aside for the time being. Now, I might actually attempt to program the sound I was looking for out of my Telecaster.
Thanks for that excellent tutorial, the best I've seen! As a bonus, you play very nice. Some other tuts were unlistenable for me due to annoying playing.
Yes - you absolutely can do that. I have used it many times just as a delay pedal, or just as a chorus pedal, etc. It is very easy to turn off the amp and cabinet simulators. Those are separate by the way, so you can use the amp gain as more or less a type of distortion pedal in the front of the amp if you want to. If you already own the unit, you should be able to tell from the video how to select amp/cab and then turn them off and on - it is just as you would do for the delay or reverb as I have shown. Hope that helps!
@@coryfournier3259 I don't have it yet, and I was trying to know about the amp simulation to decide if I buy it or not, and now I know I can get this stompbox and it will work great with my real amp Thank you very much! Cheers from Uruguay 🇺🇾
@@masquedosuy I am glad that the video helped you make a decision. Yes, it has a lot of options that you can turn off and on, including the amplifier simulation, cabinet simulation, or both. I have used it so many ways, and it continues to be a very useful pedal. I hope you can get one soon and that you enjoy it very much!
Hey Daniel - That's exactly correct: You would work with the settings until you get a sound that you like, then SAVE it to one of the User Bank locations. Then that sound will pull up exactly how you left it until/unless you change it. If you'd like to send me an email address, I have another little video I made of some sounds I came up with for examples. Thank you for commenting!
I think you created the Another Brick In The Wall solo preset by accident. You did well, I think you used preset 5 E1 delay 3.4 and 5.8. Spring reverb at 7. 0 and 6.9. I will double check. Thanks. Update Worked but used a Floyd Rose guitar in position 2, volume and tone at the max. Then went to a Behringer eq then to a Behringer chorus then to 2 Spartan toy speakers. May have even sounded better then the record! Note U5 to U8 are SRV patches. U9 and u0 EVH patches. u8 is 80's Chorus if you want to try out Big Log by Robert Plant.
Yes-I have used it as a single pedal/for one effect off & on. You can turn all effects off except the one you want to use, and store it that way. Depending on what you turn off, you may get differing results with the volume of the signal. But I find it to be a quite clean and quiet unit.
But what does the pedal on the right that says vox do? I want to be able to have a standard sound and by pressing the pedal have a diferent sound. Is it possible?
Excellent Marcos--So glad it helped. Isn't it crazy how much easier it is to be "shown" something instead of trying to read a lengthy manual??? I'm still not sure how to assign the volume/expression pedal, so please let me know if you happen to know how to do that! Thx Cory
I think I have used it for Bass a couple times, and there’s no problem doing so. I would guess it’s a matter of two things: 1. Since they do make a bass version of this pedal, I would assume that the effects, equalization, and compressor for example are more conducive to what a bass player would want to use. 2. I personally do not know much about electronics, but if you use the guitar version, I would guess that you might lack some of the lower frequencies often associated with a bass guitar. In other words, using the guitar pedal might cut off some of the lower frequencies. I would also think that the compressor in the guitar model might react differently than the one in the bass model. I do not work for Vox so I can’t say officially, but as a fellow player I would recommend just trying it and seeing how it works for you. I think I remember turning off the cabinet simulation when I used it-that makes it more of a direct signal as if your bass guitar is going straight into a direct box. Always remember to have all of your volumes on your base, the pedal, and your amplifier or soundboard all the way off when you plug it in, and turn all of your volumes of gradually so you don’t get any nasty surprises!
No, I don't believe you can. Kind of like you said, all of the modulation effects are in the same category/"knob". You could do wah and a modulation, but I think that's about it. Still a great pedal though.
I have just bought a new Vox stomplab IIG; when I put it in chain with a Crybaby wha and a volume pedal, it comes out a noisy twistle from the cabinets; it doesn't happen when I connect only the pedalboard. Somebody could explain how to solve the problem (everything is powered by a multiple connector that goes in the Visual sound 1 spot adapter)
This was really insightful! Thanks for the video!!! The only problem I have with this pedal is that I find it hard to(or haven't figured out) how to quickly change from the clean natural guitar sound from my guitar to an effect on the pedal. Let's that I'm playing a tune were I have a clean guitar part on the verse and them some distortion on the chorus. Would I need to save a preset just with the clean guitar sound and one with the distortion to go back and forth between them during the song? Thanks in advance!
Yes, you can have the pedal plugged in amongst other pedals, but bypass all of its effects. What you would probably want to do is choose a patch number, manually turn off all the effects, the amplifier models, and the cabinet models (which this pedal lets you do), and then save that patch with everything bypassed. There really isn’t an “off” setting for the pedal per se, but you would accomplish that by programming everything bypassed and then selecting that patch number when you want it to not be adding effects to your sound. I’m sure it’s not “true bypass”, so I cannot guarantee that it wouldn’t maybe change the sound a little bit. But at least you wouldn’t be stuck with the amp or cabinet feature on. Then, if you wanted to, you could program several different patches with just a chorus on if you wanted to use it as a chorus, pedal, or just a delay pedal, or even as a wah. Let me know how that works out!
Nice job Corey! You answered so many questions for me! One last request, please. I can't for the life of me assign volume to the expression pedal. All I want it to do is be a volume pedal, can you help me out?
Thank you for the kind words! I am indebted to David Gilmour, Billy Gibbons, the Jeffs, the Steves, the Erics… etc. etc. I think you’ll really enjoy that pedal! I’m tempted to pick another one up in case they stop making it. Cheers!
Hi, how do you access the pedals (distortion, overdrive and fuzz)? I can do everything else. The AMP/DR function lets me cycle through the amps but I can't find the pedals, just the modulation and compression/wah etc. Thanks.
Thanks for the much awaited video...im also using this gizmo and i love it, but still im facing trouble with an issue...tell me how to adjust the volume setting of each of the user patches that one can create, right now whats happening is that whenever i adjust volume for one , it seems to effect all of my custom built patches. Please help me out

Subrata Kumar Dhar-I don't have my pedal with me right now (I'll be overseas for a month...), and I don't usually use the tuner function on this pedal, but...I remember that you just step on both chrome channel selector buttons at the same time and hold them to enter tuner mode.

Bluetooth speaker blew my mind, what dose a good solid state amp with a 12 speaker sound like?
Is there a way you can activate the wah just by pressing the expression pedal?
No one seems to focus on the expression pedal unfortunatelly :(
Excellent Marcos--So glad it helped. Isn't it crazy how much easier it is to be "shown" something instead of trying to read a lengthy manual??? I'm still not sure how to assign the volume/expression pedal, so please let me know if you happen to know how to do that! Thx Cory
Thanks! Very helpful and thorough.
hows the octaver on this? i hear it comes with chorus ce1 also interested how good it sounds since john frusciante used a ce1
Perfect tutorial. Thank you!
How do I get just a simple overdrive / distortion effect on this pedal? And how do you save user programs I am still trying to work out how to use it.
i think you just sold me this little thing
Thank you for this video, helped me a lot thank you brother
Can use this like a single pedal?
Thank you. You save my day!!
I think I have used it for Bass a couple times, and there’s no problem doing so. I would guess it’s a matter of two things:
Great video... can I run this straight into my AC15
Can I add multiple modulations at the same time, if I want to. I would imagine that’s all inside one knob. Thanks!
No, I don't believe you can. Kind of like you said, all of the modulation effects are in the same category/"knob". You could do wah and a modulation, but I think that's about it. Still a great pedal though.
@@coryfournier3259 Got it thanks.
Can you add this pedal into your chain of pedals? Is there a way to bypass the Vox SL so my other pedal doesn't change the sound?
Dude, your bloody tasty on those licks 👍
Great tutorial 🙏 i understood every word 👍
Cant wait for mine to arive 😁
Thank you for the kind words! I am indebted to David Gilmour, Billy Gibbons, the Jeffs, the Steves, the Erics… etc. etc. I think you’ll really enjoy that pedal! I’m tempted to pick another one up in case they stop making it. Cheers!
When i change the categorie the volume change every time any Idea why?
It's possibile to use only pedal ( for example delay or reverb) without the simulation of amp/cabinet? Thanks so much
can you turn the expression pedal off on sounds that use it? I like a sound but don't want the pedal to alter that sound by accident.
Here is a video that explains more about how to turn the expression pedal off and on: ua-cam.com/video/SYQvRUz5MWI/v-deo.html
@@coryfournier3259 cheers mate
This is my exactly my setup.
Bluetooth speaker n vox processor
Very very very wonderful all some give you thank you so very much
well done. i think cp means copy? your review is making me go buy one
Can it be run in stereo
can you drag different effects to sit next to a different one?
What means the GBL category on edititing mode? (A1 - A2 - A3 - Ln)
Please help me out
Just set the volume and gain at the level u want and long press the edit button.. both the knob values will get fixed until u long press the edit button again.. just figured it out :)
How does this unit compare to a POD X3? i realize the POD is a bit long in the tooth but the Stomplab IIG looks and sounds impressive.
Subrata Kumar Dhar-I don't have my pedal with me right now (I'll be overseas for a month...), and I don't usually use the tuner function on this pedal, but...I remember that you just step on both chrome channel selector buttons at the same time and hold them to enter tuner mode.
