Thanks for the great tip! I was already to sew on tabs and ties to keep my comforter from shifting inside the duvet cover. Just did it and will check back in a few months to report.
I'm confused. Shouldn't the duvet cover be pinned inside out to the blanket? I think the use of "cover" to describe the duvet and blanket are mixing me up. If you can help me to understand, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
Do the safety pins cause little tears in your duvet insert after awhile? My down insert was $$$ so I’m scared to rip it and end up with feathers coming out
I’ve never had a problem with that happening and I’ve had the same duvet for many years. The fabric used is usually really tightly woven and strong to keep the feathers from poking out. If you feel that the fabric is starting to weaken you can put the pins in a slightly different spot on the corner, but it should be fine.
@@ASquarePillowIsntSquare You are actually pinning in the seam allowance of the insert and the cover? Correct? ever had a need to pin on the sides? I have limited frustrating experience with duvet covers - but I currently have one on order and had considered adding additional loops for ties along the sides and bottoms instead of just corners - but perhaps I can use this method and not get so frustrated! Just wondered if you had ever pinned the middle of sides and bottom as well? or if there is no need.................. thanks for a great tutorial! I am a new subscriber after finding your video on floppy shams.
Thnx for the tips. Can you make a video about how to prevent bunching of fitted sheets ; fitted sheets shift around and becomes undone esp. with a mattress protector underneath.
I couldn’t understand the part where the 2 farthest corners were pulled together and what exactly was done with the pins. I really want to try this. Can we please have a clearer video on the steps.
You basically just lay the duvet on top of the cover with the cover inside out. Pin the corner of the duvet to the corner of the cover on all 4 corners. Reach inside to grab the farthest corners and turn it right side out! Nothing is done to the pins once they are in place :)
@@ASquarePillowIsntSquareDo you mean the duvet gets turned inside out? The blanket (cover) likely is one solid piece that can't be turned inside out. Is that right,?
@@faithe54 The cover gets turned inside out. Lay it out flat, inside out. Lay the blanket or duvet insert on top of it. Pin the corners. Reach inside the cover, grab the farthest top corners, making sure you hold all the layers, and pull it right side out.
OMG - why have I never thought of this! I've been using ties, which haven't worked well. I think I will need to try this!! Thank you for the tip! Do you usually use a surged seam in a duvet cover? I will be making one soon and was thinking of using French seams. The fabric is thin cotton lawn.
If you use the right size safety pins the risk is almost non-existent. It has never ever happened to me where one unlatched. Once the cover is on the stress on the corners is minimum.
No more than any pin or needle, so no, it’s very unlikely. Also being pinned through the seam allowance and not the face fabric means extra strength and nothing visible on the cover.
@@faithe54 I always take off the cover and wash it. The cover keeps the blanket or duvet clean, so I don't normally wash the insert. If you do, I would take the cover off and wash them separately.
Well, I will say that the corners do not take a lot of stress, and I've never had a pin come undone in decades of using this method. Even if a safety pin were to open, it wouldn't release from both layers, but you certainly shouldn't use this method if you think it is unsafe.
Thank you so much for the fantastic tip. You are a genius. Have been having troubles with my doonahs for years. Hugs and Kisses and stay safe.

And?
Did it work or not?
Omg! Best method! Especially the turning right way out again. I've been doing the rolling method, but yours is the best and fastest!!!
Yes i like this idea..my first insert and duvet cover
Brilliant!!! was stressing out about how to go about this. Problem solved!! thank you so much.
Omg thanks so much for this video... this is the best method I've ever come across! Blessings!!!❤❤❤😅
Thank you! I will do this right away! So clever!
We did this last night and it worked so easily. I had the perfect size safety pins in my sewing bag. Thanks.😀

You saved me I was too annoyed to insert what to do thanks ❤
Buyn some pins tomorrow asap. Sleeping with a balled up inner with no edges atm. Beyond frustrating!!
Awesome idea! Thanks for the tip!
Brilliant and so easy!
Cute music. Good idea using pins🙂
Much appreciated your simple solution tutorial🙏🏾
Amazing! Thank you! Can I ask what brand / type of comforter you have in the video? It’s so fluffy!
Very smart idea! I’ll be trying that. BTW... nice job on your presentation🌷
Thank you!
Love this trick Nancy!!!!
Hello
Oh my, I think I'm in love with you ; P so easy and brilliant!
😂
Thank you…I’m just worried the safety pins might tear the cover.. I’m going to give it a try,,
If you pin into the seam allowance as shown you won’t rip the cover :) The corners take less stress than you’d expect once it’s attached!
Wow this is amazing

Honestly never had a problem. The fabric on my cover is very tightly woven to keep the feathers in, so it’s very strong.
@@Gen2026 And yes, I pin right to the seam allowances at each corner and I’ve never needed any other connecting points!
What a great idea!

The only thing I can think of is to put a sew-on alligator clip on the ends of some elastic and attach it under the mattress. Should work!
You should try the burrito method to put on your duvet cover. It's genius!
Great tip!
Big help. Thanks.

Thank you very much. Great tip.
Genius, thank you!!!
Great tip
Thank youuuuuuuu🤩

It’s the simple things… 😊
Love ur sewing table what fabric did u use to cover it if u don’t mind me asking?
Hi again! It’s a heavy work table canvas that I mark lines on with a Sharpie :) At some point I’ll make a video on how I make my tables!
I have a weighted blanket in my Duvet aswell will this still work?
I don’t see why it wouldn’t!

Do you usually use a surged seam in a duvet cover? I will be making one soon and was thinking of using French seams. The fabric is thin cotton lawn.
I do usually serge because it’s a quick and easy way to keep the fabric from fraying from all the laundering, but French seams would also work!
Hello Melinda, how are you doing?
Thank you
Im just worried that the saftey pins could possibly unlatch from themselves and get lost inside the bedding, that would be a terrible way to wake up 😅
If you use the right size safety pins the risk is almost non-existent. It has never ever happened to me where one unlatched. Once the cover is on the stress on the corners is minimum.
I want to try this, but Im afraid the safety pins will pop open when there is to much movement
Mine have never popped open because they just move with the fabric. There's really not a lot of pressure on them.
Can't the safety pins damage the material?
No more than any pin or needle, so no, it’s very unlikely. Also being pinned through the seam allowance and not the face fabric means extra strength and nothing visible on the cover.
@@ASquarePillowIsntSquare To wash the cover should you undo all the pins? Or can you wash the cover and blanket as one unit? Thanks.

Nope
👍
Not safe... these suckers can open up if you're the type of person that moves around a lot!

If I had wanted to listen to music I'd have gone watched a music video. this is not helpful just confusing.
I’m sorry you didn’t like the music Niel. Most people prefer it to silence, but you can always just hit the mute button! Have a great day 🙂
