True life saver. I didn't know that it's this easy to make my own snap buttons. A set of snap machine + a few snap buttons would cost around 10 bucks here. Definitely will try.
This is the solution that I’ve been looking for. Finally! My duvet has ties and stays in place well, so I won’t be using the snaps for the same purpose as you have. Instead, I wanted a way to attach my flat sheet to the backside of my duvet. All night, I toss and turn and wake up with my flat sheet in a mess. I also want to be able to skip a step when making my bed!
OK how in the world are you sleeping to wear your sheet does that so you’re gonna put holes in your sheets or your sheets are going to have permanent snaps on them I’ve never seen that before. Quite interesting.
@@JayzeVo17 I could never eliminate the top sheet when it gets hot. You still need something over you that could be lightweight and a duvet insert to me it’s just too heavy or a duvet
Best way I've found: Attach elastic loops. Loop over large buttons. These don't come apart. It's inexpensive. It's easy to do & is much better than tying.

Have you ever used them on the sides as well. Just wondered if it is even more secure. I suspect it's the linen that has a mind of it's own.
I'm so glad this solved your problem! I have put them on the sides, and it will keep you from having one side be all duvet and one side of it having a bunched up blanket on the inside. thank you for this video i was wondering why they do not make duvets and covers with snaps in the first place. i was unsure of how to put on cover.. like do i put snap through one side or both. your video helped.
I also wonder why they aren't sold this way. Ikea sells a duvet set that snap to each other so you can have a thin, thick, and super thick option, but not options to actually snap to the duvet. Thanks so much for watching!
My duvet and cover both have ties in the corners, but my issue is more that it bunches in the middle (it's a king size). Have you ever done this in more spots than the corners, and do you think it would work well?
I haven't had to do it because mine doesn't bunch in the middle, but. don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. If you do it, please let us know if it works well for you.
I have never had one come apart while sleeping. It only undoes when I personally unsnap them to take off the duvet. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Just a follow up - after using them for a few months they work awesome! A clip may undo once in a while (probably after a hard yank/kick whilst sleeping etc.). It is so easy to clip back on though and best to do straight away (otherwise it can lead to others uncoupling more easily). Thanks again!
I had a most difficult time attaching these snaps. It took days. The snaps with the spikes ended up for the most part breaking off. I had to keep going over and over replacing the broken spiked snaps with new ones. The comforter is supposedly queen size 86x86 and although the cover was supposed to be the same size it's actually way bigger. The comforter is also heavy so I had to put the snaps in about 7" inches apart. I will never use this system again.
I'm so sorry to hear this didn't work for you. I hope you find another solution that works well for you. Some people in the comments talk about strong magnets working well.
I’ve made a lot of diapers and also had these issues too. Or the whole snap would pop off. I do know that a lot has to do with adding the right amount of pressure and I suspect too much pressure to the snap pliers. Also it’s possible that diapers go through more use and abuse and laundering, so the duvet situation might be better.

If you own a sewing machine, you can make button holes on wide bias tape, Then sew those strips onto the corners. Attach buttons to the duvet cover. These stay secure & are easy to detach/reattach. If you don't have a sewing machine, you can also use elastic & buttons. Sew strong elastic loops onto the corners & attach them around large buttons you've sewed onto the other corners. You can place these also at the mid points for heavier duvets.
I personally don't think so because it isn't very noticeable once it is on a bed. However, I have added some pictures of a corner in my blog post toward the middle if you would like to see it. thesimplehaus.com/2022/05/top-way-to-secure-a-duvet-cover/
I just use a piece of nice rope and tie the 2 corner above to prevent it from slipping down and that is enough. No hassle with all the things needing to be bought, installed or sewed. Also safety pins are bad because winter duvet are quite heavy and can make it open and possible stab you. Also it damage fibers with may cause a hole the other pin thing would cause damage as well but less. A well tied corner will stay until duvet need to be changed and washed so no needing to put everything inside out to fix or unfix things either just pull the rope on one side and done.
I'm sorry I'm not 100% sure what you are asking. But if I understood you correctly, I would say to add more snaps on the inside of the cover in the top middle or on either side. It will mean you have more things to snap on, but it will definitely have less shifting. Hope this helps. Let me know if I misunderstood your question.
Yeah, it works if your duvet cover and duvet insert or paper thin but what if you have a thick duvet insert as well as cover do these things just on snap on their own or they strong enough to hold it and I need some to go in the middle, not the middle, but the top not the edges, but towards the middle becauseit droop down so I’m not sure if the snaps would work I might use Velcro
Hi! Loved this and looking forward to buying those snaps! If it’s possible, I would love an explanation.. the snap and the snap plier kit links that you placed in the description is all I need to order? Or do I also need to order the snap bulks? Thank you!❤
Hey Gabriella, the snap kit and one order of snaps is enough. I just included the bulk link as well because the more snaps you order the cheaper they are. I use them all the time for random things, but if you only need them for this project, the smaller portion would be plenty. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Sorry if this sounds stupid. I understand how you put the snap on the insert portion… But not the duvet cover. How do you put a snap way up in the opposite corner from the zipper inside with that toolYou would have the bunch up a lot of duvet to get the upper snaps opposite of the zipper on the day
This doesn't sound stupid at all! Many people put on duvet covers in different ways. If you go to this video, ua-cam.com/video/sr_3Br0eI6I/v-deo.html you can see how I put on the duvet covers. I keep the Cover inside out while snapping the duvet blanket to the cover. Then I turn it right side out, and the snaps stay in place holding the corners. If you need more clarification, let me know.
Since the snaps are on the inside the color doesn’t matter. You can of course color coordinate, but I just use the same color for all of them. Thanks for watching!

I have found if I take it out o the washer and kinda of lay it flat in the bottom of the dryer that the chances are a lot lower of getting stuff inside of it. Or I simply line dry them, which is what most people in Europe do. However, sometimes weather doesn't allow that.
The duvet will still slide and one very will very quickly, end up right where it started. It’s sort of obvious that if linen is tied b it will hypothetically straighten out except that it won’t.😊
Use silicone cable ties and wrap the end of your duvet, along with the duvet cover string onto it. After a few wraps, fold the end of the duvet again over the cable and continue wrapping till its tight. Then tie your duvet string.
How do you suggest doing the bottom snaps when you have covers that are a little too long for the doona. I have a down doona and I hate when my cover bags up.
I would add the four snaps in the corners and see how it holds. With a regular fitting Down Blanket, I will fluff the Blanket in its cover as sometimes it does gather in certain spots. However, with the snaps it is just snapping it in the air a few times and done. If it still is bunching, I would add extra snaps to hold in place so it is evenly distributed. For instance, one extra in the top middle and bottom as well as a few on each side so it doesn't all lay on one end or the other. Let us know how it works and thanks for watching!
First of all I would like to THANK YOU for sharing this incredible and simple method as I have like the rest struggled for years to get on the cover and ofcourse the shifting is no fun either. I do want to share here a variation, I tried as I had a few failed snaps due to the thickness and rounded corner of the my comforter edge. What I ended up doing is positioning the snaps about an 1-1.5" (25-38mm) from the edges. This required the snaps on the cover to NOT go through both layers but just one side. It takes some bit of planning to secure the snap. This also helps address the issue with length noted here if the cover is a bit longer or wider you can position snaps accordingly. I'm not sure if there is a way to share a picture but If anyone wants to try this variation happy to share more @@TheSimpleHaus. Thanks again this is a great solution and I plan on using snaps on all my envelope style pillow cover that tend to not hold😀
I thought of somethin even better, use neodymium magnents, small round ones on ebay, you can get get 10 for 10 bucks. They are the strongest magnets in the world, worked like a charm to keep my insert in place, didnt have to alter my bedding with anything
@@TheSimpleHaus oh yeah i wouldnt be that silly to leave them on there. Neodymium magnets are very strong, it would be impossible to forget to remove them before washing because it takes alot of effort to remove them once they are held together. You wont be able to remove the duvet insert without removing the magnets. The magnets will never shift around. Its been perfect
@@Monica111960 put the insert into the duvet, place a neodymium magnet on the inside and another on the outer side of duvet. Only use neodymium magnents because they are the strongest. I paid 10$ for 10 of them on ebay. Keeps everything in place nice and secure

I just got a really nice silk duvet cover and don't want to damage the material
That is probably smart, all of my are a durable cotton.

Thank you! I wish I’d known this years ago 😂
You're so welcome! I'm so glad that this was helpful.
I feel like I’m going to add snaps to everything now!
It really is addicting, I'm always like we could use SNAPS! My husband just rolls his eyes 😂
Enjoyed your share🥰very informative!
Thank you!
Won’t the corners on the duvet cover look funky if the snap is put through both layers of the duvet cover?
I personally don't think so because it isn't very noticeable once it is on a bed. However, I have added some pictures of a corner in my blog post toward the middle if you would like to see it. thesimplehaus.com/2022/05/top-way-to-secure-a-duvet-cover/
If you haven't heard of the duvet burrito...look it up. You will love it
Thanks for the comment, I have tried the duvet burrito. For some reason, I wasn't a fan. Maybe I need to give it another try. :)
I don't love anytime I am trying to put on the duvet...but the burrito works better than any I have found. Thanks for the tips! @@TheSimpleHaus
HAHAHA@@YourLifeRE you are definitely so right with that, and I'm so glad you found a method that works for you!
Corner Ties are definitely a great option! My issue was always getting knots undone that my husband tied ☺
Great video. Thank you

do you have any tips on keeping the seam of the duvet lined up with the seat of the comforter?
I'm sorry I'm not 100% sure what you are asking. But if I understood you correctly, I would say to add more snaps on the inside of the cover in the top middle or on either side. It will mean you have more things to snap on, but it will definitely have less shifting. Hope this helps. Let me know if I misunderstood your question.
Thank you.. amazing 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I think they are definitely strong enough to hold it, but like you mentioned, you might want to add a few extra snaps to make sure it stays in place.
@@TheSimpleHaus thank you so much for the quick response!

If you go to this video,
ua-cam.com/video/sr_3Br0eI6I/v-deo.html you can see how I put on the duvet covers. I keep the Cover inside out while snapping the duvet blanket to the cover. Then I turn it right side out, and the snaps stay in place holding the corners. If you need more clarification, let me know.
what if your duvet cover isn't white? Do you have to buy snaps in every color so they blend in?
Since the snaps are on the inside the color doesn’t matter. You can of course color coordinate, but I just use the same color for all of them. Thanks for watching!
so the corners will be a little bit inside out? I'm still confused! Could you show a close up of the corners once they are done?
@@carmelaklug9997 So sorry for the confusion! Here is a link to a blog post where I show the ends of the duvet. thesimplehaus.com/2022/05/top-way-to-secure-a-duvet-cover/ Here is a video where I show step by step how to put the Duvet cover on with the snaps. ua-cam.com/video/sr_3Br0eI6I/v-deo.html
Can you tell me why my socks and smaller items always end up twisted inside my duvet cover after a run in the dryer?
I have found if I take it out o the washer and kinda of lay it flat in the bottom of the dryer that the chances are a lot lower of getting stuff inside of it. Or I simply line dry them, which is what most people in Europe do. However, sometimes weather doesn't allow that.
Put them in a lingerie bag
The duvet will still slide and one very will very quickly, end up right where it started. It’s sort of obvious that if linen is tied b it will hypothetically straighten out except that it won’t.😊
The snaps work very well in keeping everything in place for me, but I hope you find a method that works for you.
Use silicone cable ties and wrap the end of your duvet, along with the duvet cover string onto it. After a few wraps, fold the end of the duvet again over the cable and continue wrapping till its tight. Then tie your duvet string.
Thanks for giving us another method! I will have to try this out.
I do not understand this method at all.
Genius!
Thank you!
Super, vielen dank!
Gerne! Ich hoffe es hat geholfen.
@@mjain1000 I'm so glad it worked for you, and thank you so much for sharing what worked well for you. That is a genius solution!

Do you know of anything that works for a weighted blanket that doesn’t have any ties or anything?
You could sew on ties or try the snaps. The other options might not be strong enough for a weighted blanket, but I haven't tried it personally.

Does/Has anyone tried adding a middle snap along the long sides?
I’m not sure if others have, but I will try it on my king feather blanket so I can show in a video since this is a common question.
The music does not fit. Thanks for the info!

I thought of somethin even better, use neodymium magnents, small round ones on ebay, you can get get 10 for 10 bucks. They are the strongest magnets in the world, worked like a charm to keep my insert in place, didnt have to alter my bedding with anything
Great use, just make sure you remove them before washing or you might get a hole in the fabric in the washer to dryer if it sticks to the sides.
Great idea, but how do you attach the magnet to the duvet/duvet cover?
@@Monica111960 put the insert into the duvet, place a neodymium magnet on the inside and another on the outer side of duvet. Only use neodymium magnents because they are the strongest. I paid 10$ for 10 of them on ebay. Keeps everything in place nice and secure
@@Monica111960 amzn.to/3w6hb8L you could try these sew in magnets

Omg. For clarity, what you’re calling a “blanket” is the duvet. What you called the “duvet” is the duvet cover! No wonder people are confused
Okay
Too much trouble. Too complicated.
I hope you find a way that works for you.
Just not helpful at all
@@TheSimpleHaus I've just tried with pins 1,5 inches long as I saw on a video. I'll see if it works. What I can say is the pins can't be seen, which is good.
