    I just found out your channel! Graphic designer, here. I recently, graduated from college and, currently, a design intern for 3 months (1 more month left) for a huge advertising agency in the UK. I love the advertising world! Very interesting video! Thank you!

    Great video! Only one that I think was missing, as a fundamental ad agency, was the Creative Director

      Thanks! I didn’t include Creative Director since that isn’t an entry level position, but copywriters and art directors can move up to that level eventually.

    Thank you so much for this! I have looked this up multiple times on youtube but haven't found anything as thorough. I have been struggling between copywriting and strategy for a while and so if you have any further advice on how I could find my place, please let me know!

      If you’re liking both copywriting and strategy, you may like being on the New Business team! They are the ones who work on pitching the agency to potential clients. Lots of research goes into it (strategy side) and they usually will write up initial thinking and potential positioning for the brand so there’s lot of writing to be done as well. Bigger agencies tend to have internships specifically for that department!

    Wonderful video! I have had a goal of making commercials for my whole life, but am struggling on finding the right path. I am leaning towards copywriting and was wondering what your path to agency life was? When did you start to like writing? How much writing do you do daily? What are some of the stresses that come with the position? Finally, what is your day to day like?

      Sorry for the late reply! When I was still in college, I got a job doing social media management which included writing posts and responses. That's when I realized how different writing for advertising was compared to the writing I was used to in school. And I loved it!
      And I'll definitely make more videos that answer some of your other questions, especially some day-in-the-life stuff. :)

    Watching this now because I'm taken up as a media intern at a marketing agency. I wanted to know what to expect of that role.

    Hi! Kind of a late comment on your vid, but this is great content! Do you have any recommendations on how to get into being a graphic designer? (I just graduated college.) What if you like both copywriting and design? I talked to someone from an agency one time and he told me I had to choose one of those paths. With your experience, have you seen people having to choose one or is there a way to have the “best of both worlds”? Thank you!!

      Thank you for watching! For specifics on design, I'd recommend Open Door Creative's channel. He has some great videos on art direction and design.
      As far as doing both copywriting and design - that does exist but is definitely not the norm at most agencies. At least in terms of the actual title of the role. You'd almost always need to choose one. Super small agencies may differ.
      With that said, as a writer, I've had a say in a lot of the art direction stuff. And my art director partner has always thrown in copy suggestions. Great partnerships have a bit of blurring of the lines between roles.

    How do you become a producer in advertising?

  • @khushalpurohit9131

    May you please name the role which plans the content of ad for the particular brand?

    • @StuffAboutAdvertising
      @StuffAboutAdvertising  5 місяців тому

      Strategists are typically the ones to plan out the main point/takeaway that will be communicated in the ads, but the creatives (Art Director, Copywriter, Creative Director) are the ones who decide HOW to do that with exact wording and visual style.

    Hii, from your explanation about what each role's in AD agency, so what are the differences between marketing agency and ad agency based your explanation?

    • @StuffAboutAdvertising
      @StuffAboutAdvertising  2 роки тому

      I can definitely make a video explaining this more in depth! But essentially advertising is one part of marketing. Marketing includes figuring out pricing of a product, how you want to distribute it, etc. While advertising is just to TELL people about that product.

    I want to do sync or be a liaison to agency and labels what role would that be

    • @StuffAboutAdvertising
      @StuffAboutAdvertising  3 роки тому +1

      That kind of role isn't super common in the agency world. Instead, you'd most likely be working as a "vendor" where you'd work for an artist representation agency of some kind and then communicate with ad agencies to convince them to use the music of the people you represent.

    What is the educational qualification required in this field?

    • @StuffAboutAdvertising
      @StuffAboutAdvertising  Рік тому +1

      Usually a bachelor's degree, but the major isn't always super important. Anything related to marketing/advertising/communication/art is a plus, but I've seen people get into advertising with degrees in psychology, sociology, english/lit, etc.

    How to know if advertising is not for me?

    • @StuffAboutAdvertising
      @StuffAboutAdvertising  2 місяці тому

      That's definitely something that can change from person to person, but for me, it would be if I felt more often drained than excited. There should be more good days than bad.
