It is weird to think that the first video I ever watched on your channel was the first catio. I never knew that I would gain so much excitement and happiness from each video you posted. You two have helped me even when I was having a bad day. I am so excited to watch the three of you, that is including Joobie, continue your amazing, weird, and funny journey.
Another cat project I think Joobie would love is cat shelves. See, cats are very territorial creatures and they love being high overseeing their domain--it makes them feel confident. So if you made some shelves going up a wall like a staircase with a big carpeted perch she could sleep in at the top she would absolutely use it.
Given that joobie seems to prefer spaces that are secluded like a catio, most like this is a cat who likes me time and something like cat cubes, enclosed spaces where it can be away from humans when it wants to is probably more for Joobie?

From what it looks like, they have a giant yard, and their cat loves the little spot they made for her. They know their cat better than anyone, don't come after them like you're better than them for cat-proofing your yard.

I have an experience to share: We made a dog house with a acrylic top and it made the inside of the dogouse so hot when the sun was out. We made a cover for it out of UV fabric, like they use for greenhouses, that helped but the California sun was too brutal. We ended up putting a different top on it.
Ooh neat! Yeah she'll like the heat and sun for a bit during the Texas cold months but we'll keep a thermometer out there when it gets hot and maybe swap the roof for the hot months

Well done! Here's a tip for the future. The acrylic piece initially fit because you were dropping it in vertically. When you are installing a thick piece of acrylic (or anything thick and rigid) into a fixed opening at a tiny angle (as you did here), if possible the top edge should be beveled slightly so that it will fit into the opening at that angle, while still ending up tight at the very end.

I’ve been thinking about making my own cat a catio for a while. She’s getting older and originally was someone’s indoor/outdoor cat who had a lot of anxiety when it came to being exclusively indoors. As she’s getting older I’ve started to become worried about her spending time outside so I hope by building a catio it will both keep her safe and alleviate the anxiety she had when I tried to keep her as an indoor only cat so she can live a long and healthy life into old age.
My sister got both a free Huge bird game (you can step inside it!) and a dog crate for cheap on Facebook marketplace. With some zip ties and a cat flap installed into the fly screen of Her cats favourite window the kitty now has a really easy, strong and budget friendly play space. It’s not a permanent structure as they rent but that can be a plus in some cases too
It’s literally a little home for her!!! My heart 🖤🖤🖤 it looks so beyond gorgeous and I absolutely adore how much care you both take (at all stages of your lives) to take care of her 🖤 she’s lucky to have amazing parents

(The only downside is that my cats now want a catio, and I have to keep explaining that we’re on the third floor of an apartment building so the indoor perches I installed will have to do.)
We spend an awful lot of time re-explaining things to our cats. It seems to be rather difficult to make them understand they can't have everything 100% their way 24/7🤔
@@danana4867 every pet owner in general - everything me and my family owns actually belongs to my dog, he's just gracious enough to let us use it all in exchange forproviding him with kisses, hugs, and most importantly tummy tickles. (Food too, but that always seems like a 'lesser' need for him compared to a good fuss lmao)
Great project! Actually given me an idea of making something similar for my chinchillas. They're not allowed outside, but during play time it would be nice if they could get something of an outdoor experience while still being safely indoors. A chinio!
Watching the 1st Catio video and now this one...Joobie is loving it. I will suggest one thing...Cats have night vision and the extra lights at night will hamper her seeing out in the yard. Might want re-direct the lights out to the yard so she can see out farther. Joobie is a beautiful cat and good job on being a responsible cat owner. Love the videos!

I love Catio 2.0, and was especially pleased to see the 2nd level perch for Joob. I was only thinking during the build "that's so much taller, there's more than enough space for a 2nd floor!" Course, the most important thing is that Joobie loves it 😻
A customer of mine had a 3 story catio built against the back of the house where the cat can freely go in and out of the house while maintaining security

We have two cats, a brother and sister. The brother is super outgoing and the sister is super shy. We built them a walk-in catio, and were surprised that the cat that loves it the most is the shy sister! She spends all day every day out there when it's a nice day. It's so satisfying that she loves it. Would the Supervisor like cat shelves? Our cats love their shelves, too!
This catio idea is very cool. I had my sweet short-haired tabby cat for 15 years until she passed on. She was a Polydactyl Hemingway type cat. Her little mittens were so cute. I wish I had one of these catios for Kitty to enjoy back then. She was an indoor cat her whole lifetime but she liked to look out of the windows. I really enjoyed watching this catio build. I absolutely love you guys and your channel. Whenever I am having a bad day, or even just need something to make me smile, I can always count on one of your videos. You guys are absolutely my comfort channel.
I’ve made several, and my cats love them. Here are some tips: 1) The weight of s carried by the windowsill. I attach it using slotted angles, which are concealed by the various; 2) Heavy duty cat screen all around. Where there are other critters, reinforce this on the outside with hardware cloth; 3) Keep the top screen and flat. Neighbor cats will lay on top and hang out with your cat; 4) Open window all the way. Insert piece of thick foam board. Lower window slightly to secure in place. Install cat door in the foam panel. 5) Design shelves so they dry quickly to prevent mildew.
If Evan and Katelyn are reading this, y’all were one of the first UA-camrs I ever watched, y’all are so amazing and sweet, Joobie is one of the most cute and grumpy cat! Great video and good craftsmanship! Just a suggestion- consider using a polarizer filter on your camera lenses to reduce unwanted reflections on surfaces like glass, so that when you show off stuff like this, we can see inside without glare!

You guys gave me a fantastic idea. I live in an apartment on the second floor so catio's are difficult, but I think making a design almost like a Window AC should hold! (Window AC's are pretty heavy)

I'm so glad you updated the catio! I'm planning my own so this was really helpful! Definitely gonna go as big as I feasibly can and get those cat measurements since those were the biggest (non-aesthetic) improvements in my eyes. Also I love the idea of lighting for the dusk and early morning kitty explorers!

We have two cats, a brother and sister. The brother is super outgoing and the sister is super shy. We built them a walk-in catio, and were surprised that the cat that loves it the most is the shy sister! She spends all day every day out there when it's a nice day. It's so satisfying that she loves it.
Would the Supervisor like cat shelves? Our cats love their shelves, too!
This catio idea is very cool. I had my sweet short-haired tabby cat for 15 years until she passed on. She was a Polydactyl Hemingway type cat. Her little mittens were so cute. I wish I had one of these catios for Kitty to enjoy back then. She was an indoor cat her whole lifetime but she liked to look out of the windows. I really enjoyed watching this catio build. Hey y’all! Good morning to my western peeps! Can’t wait to see what they make in this episode!
I’ve made several, and my cats love them. Here are some tips:
1) The weight of s carried by the windowsill. I attach it using slotted angles, which are concealed by the various;
2) Heavy duty cat screen all around. Where there are other critters, reinforce this on the outside with hardware cloth;
3) Keep the top screen and flat. Neighbor cats will lay on top and hang out with your cat;
4) Open window all the way. Insert piece of thick foam board. Lower window slightly to secure in place. Install cat door in the foam panel.
5) Design shelves so they dry quickly to prevent mildew.

Great video and good craftsmanship! Just a suggestion- consider using a polarizer filter on your camera lenses to reduce unwanted reflections on surfaces like glass, so that when you show off stuff like this, we can see inside without glare!

You guys gave me a fantastic idea. I live in an apartment on the second floor so catio's are difficult, but I think making a design almost like a Window AC should hold! (Window AC's are pretty heavy)

I'm so glad you updated the catio! I'm planning my own so this was really helpful! Definitely gonna go as big as I feasibly can and get those cat measurements since those were the biggest (non-aesthetic) improvements in my eyes. Also I love the idea of lighting for the dusk and early morning kitty explorers!
