Water damage?! Also, can you guys do like a, how bubbly can we make a silicone mould? Like whip it up without the vacuum chamber to see how bubbly you could make the outside of a cube? Is this weird lol
Smoke alarm tip: use compressed air and blow them out once or twice a year to prevent false alarms from dust buildup. My whole house went off multiple times at 3am one night. I cleaned them the next day and no issues since. Hope that helps!
If you want to holesaw through thick material more quickly, after running it backwards, drill a few holes with a normal bit(or the pilot bit) around the inside perimeter of your hole. This will significantly aid in 'chip clearing', which typically eliminates overheating and speeds up the *hole* process. Sawdust buildup is a significant part of why cutting through a board that's twice as thick as another, takes more than twice as long.
Something not emphasized enough is how greatly you improved the cable management for the cat fountain! Having the cable completely hidden and the plug blocked away looks so much cleaner!
I was wondering how they did this since it was hanging so obviously in the before shot! I thought maybe they just hadn't plugged it back in for the video 🤭 but knowing their style it makes sense they would have found a way to hide it properly

Tbh that's such a big problem with those modern hyper-sensitive smoke detectors. You get really blind to them because there are so many false alarms and your first instinct becomes to turn them off. Espacially if you're living in an apartment where neighbors can hear the alarm as well. I used to have one like that as well. I had to take it off the ceiling and put it in an air tight box every time I was cooking, even though my cooking wasn't smokey. It would react to blowing out candels or matches and incredibly minor stuff. At some point I just bought a different one and banished it into the air tight box until I moved out.
@@centrifugedestroyer2579 Can confirm they are sometimes over sensitive because I've had two different fire alarms go off just because the wall mount simply turned on. Had to eventually remove the one in the kitchen because of that.

Honestly, the random things that happen in these videos is amazing. You can watch for the projects and end up getting bonus insanity like a random fire alarm.
Regarding the fire alarm triggered by the woodworking: there are two types of fire alarms, you should check out the super informative video from technology connections for all the details and consider swapping them. Loved the lil station, very nice work as always.
If I remember correctly that video was about ion vs optical? Neither ion or optical is prefect for a workshop as dust (from for example wood working) can trigger them. Optical is actually even more sensitive for dust particles in some cases. In dusty environments sometimes heat sensitive alarms are sometimes used, but they are a bad choice in a building where people also live as they can be very slow at detecting a fire early. These are though sometimes even recommended in kitchens, but I would not use them as they indeed REQUIRE ENOUGH HEAT before they sound the alarm. Carbon monoxide detectors are one possible choice in terms of the fact that usually you have at least some carbon that is burning and therefore carbon monoxide is produced. If you use a fire place you should probably have one of these in the rooms you sleep in anyways. Carbon monoxide is a common reason that kills people while they sleep.
@@ImaginarySpace Yep. Although Alec concluded that people should buy optical instead of ion smoke alarms. But optical are too sensitive for many use cases, too likely to trigger on volatile organics (in this case, it's actually most likely triggering on aerosolised wood - that distinctive smell you get from cutting relatively high moisture content wood). The best alarms are dual sensor, although they're fairly expensive.

You two are the perfect couple for things like these, Evan's good with CAD and he's useful for heavy object lifting and powertools and Katelyn's got all of the fun ideas and the good artistic abilities, that combination really brings your builds to life!
@8:45 Most modern smoke detectors work with a light shining on a sensor every few seconds. that light and sensor are in a chamber that does not let light in but that does let air and particles through. Once the beam cannot be seen on a pulse of the light, several other pulses are done by the smoke detector to see if it still can't see the light pulses. So it triggers an alarm. Maybe cutting of all the holes made it so that a lot of dust particles were in the air so it triggered a false alarm.
This seems like a really approachable project for advanced beginners, and for my messy kitties it would be great! I'm pretty handy when it comes to DIY stuff but it's my dad who has all the hand tools, I think I'll be spending some time this fall hanging out in their shed putting something like this together!
I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Too high tooth blade blade 🤣🤣🤣 You two are so funny and cute together!!! I love this project too. I can't wait to make my own version. It looks so fancy and upscale. Joobie deserves nothing less than her own cafe!!!
The fire alarm may be going off randomly if it's battery is running low - ours kept on going of at random times for no reason until we replaced the battery and it was fine. Of course it could also just be reacting to wood smoke or airborne sawdust too
Several things: 1) Katelyn is just SOOOO stinkin' adorable! 2) I know there are some conveniences that come with using battery operated tools... but you just cannot beat the power and reliability of corded tools. ESPECIALLY when running heavy attachments like your hole-saw, or working on extra heavy/thick/dense materials. 3) Coarse blades are best for wood... especially extra thicccc boards like the ones you concocted. I know fine-tooth blades make pretty cuts... but they're not really intended for heavy projects. 4) Last but certainly not least, that project came out looking AMAZING.
As an amateur woodworker, and a cat-owner, I am delighted and impressed by this project. I have just one observation. Whenever I glue together two pieces of wood, I like to inclue a very thin piece of contrasting wood between them. It adds a lot of fancy without much work.
It's very cute! I love the logo! And functionality-wise, I love that you elevated the food bowls as it is better for Joob that way. There are only two things I would change. One would be that I would tack the objects down on top. If for whatever reason they should fall off, Joob could get hurt, and she's too busy looking down to have that extra moment she could use to jump out of the way. The other one is something that I didn't learn until recent years, and not many people know. I'm an animal enthusiast, and worked in a pet shop for over 10 years, so I love sharing pet knowledge. I would move the water source away from the food source. I love that Joob has a fountain because cats are picky about their water being fresh, and it's for that reason I'd move the water source away from the food. Cats descend from desert dwelling ancestors. Water is scarce. So, to protect the water source, cats have a natural inclination to keep their food, or prey items away from their water source as a dead animal can contaminate the water source. Many of our little domestic cats adapt to our silly human ideas, so we're unaware of this issue, but it's something I encourage pet owners to do because cats can be so picky about clean water to the point of not drinking enough. Thankfully, you are giving Joob wet food as well which is another source of hydration for cats.
Very good point about the water. My friend has two cats and she keeps the water bowls (each cat has her own water bowl) around the corner, about 10-15 feet away from where she has their food. Elevating the food dishes also helps.
@@jonchalk3855 i have 2 fountains and a static water bowl in diff earas, two level house so a fountain on each floor and water bowls around but i move their food away as all 3 cats tend to not eat unless they are away from each other and only in certain areas, all away from water.. lol i noticed they tend to play in the fountains as much as drink from them. little weirdos are obsessed lol
This is very important. My cat has chronic kidney disease, which is quite common in cats, and hydration is one of the main concerns (and the lack of hydration one of its causes). Other advice that her veterinarian gave me was to have more than one water source scattered around the house, because cats will seek food proactively in another room, but are less likely to seek water.
Congrats, you two! Both the vid and the Joobie Cafe turned out as works of art. Man! Haw soles and jig saws (jaw higs?) are my arch nemesis tools. That part where the Too High Tooth Blade Blade got stuck? AH! I so felt that pain. But you two did amazing work. That radial cut? A thing o' beauty..
I am from Germany(Europe) and from all the things that are advertised in the videos I watch (99% from Amarican creators) Petsmart was actually the first thing I regonised. We have it in Germany too❤
The fact that the fire alarm went off not only once, but twice in a row without something even happening the second time might just be Joob getting revenge after hearing you guys were going to choose pink either way
It's awesome to see you guys get back to designing/engineering/making stuff again. These are always my favorite videos. I would have loved to have seen some CNC and 3D printing in the mix too!
That is one of the nicer designs for a feeding station I have seen. The super thing makes it larger and pups can have one also with protection for the walls. Great job!
I have just adopted my own cat! He’s a fifteen week old little void kitty. Like a mini Jobbie but with a dark gray underside. We got him at a small cat rescue being hosted at Pet Smart, and got him everything we need for him too.
Great joob! Keeping the boss happy is the best practice. I would add a bead of transparent sili-cone between the acrilic glass and the shelf for ease of cleaning.
I use a boot tray against the wall to protect from splatters. I’ve thought about using removable wallpaper for a cuter option. this project is so fancy!
I haven't watched your videos in quite some time (maybe 1.5+ years). You guys are still just as fun and beautiful and wholesome. Keep up the great work!
It's probably the dust setting off the fire alarm. Use some compressed air to clean them. (The stuff you use to clean your pc) That usually does the trick.
How do you feel about adding caulk to that seam between the wooden bowl holders and the backsplash? So that you don't have to worry about food particles or moisture sneaking in there.
Can you guys do like a, how bubbly can we make a silicone mould? Like whip it up without the vacuum chamber to see how bubbly you could make the outside of a cube? Is this weird lol
When cutting with a jigsaw like that should after a small amount of the curve should go in and cut a chunk out then continue on with the curve, will save you some of that issue with the blade being stuck in the curve. Also should put a small finger hole for each of the food dishes to make it easier to get the food bowl out to refill/clean.
I think the light that they have there is actually brighter than they needed. They likely could have got one that was thinner and not as bright. Cats don't need much light.
That's a great tip with the hole saw. Back when I was a trainee, I was drilling through a foam fire penetration under the floor in a comms riser, and the hole saw grabbed and spun the drill around, slamming my hand into a cut off floor support with such force that I had to reach down with my other hand to put the drill in reverse and back it out. It's basically a square steel tube that they glued in the wrong place, so they cut it off at 45°, leaving an extremely sharp edge. The wound was so deep, it didn't stop bleeding for hours and it left a huge scar on my finger. I should've gone to the hospital and got stitches, but we needed the cables run in that day to make our schedule, so I wrapped it and pushed on. Could've avoided that whole mess if I knew your trick of running the drill in reverse to get started.
my fave part of this is evans little happy wiggle when his terrible joke bombed :P can he be any cuter ???? love this project ! it must be really nice to be able to need something and be able to make it for a fraction of the cost

I’m so used to the song at 4:32 being used for headphone tests (from Dankpods) that it was kinda jarring when the quality didn’t change, lol. I should add, I’m also so jealous of the ability y’all have to plan out projects like this! I want to make my own desk but I don’t even know what wood to use or where I should even get it.
7:58 looks like you might of had the smaller drill on gear 2 (High Speed.) In cases like that where it doesn't have enough power switching it to gear 1 (High Power) can help. The Gearing trades power for speed and vice versa. Just might be helpful for those that don't know. The tips about the hole saws was good thank you.

Maybe that's why my cat keeps drinking out of the toilet bowl, that or she's just got a thing for toilet water
Yep, water away from their food, and it's also a good idea to have multiple drinking spots. Can never leave out too much water for them.
A thing o' beauty..
haha jaw higs :P
joob looking at the logo like "aw its for me, so pretty" is the purest most adorable thing I've seen all day
I am from Germany(Europe) and from all the things that are advertised in the videos I watch (99% from Amarican creators) Petsmart was actually the first thing I regonised. We have it in Germany too❤
I truly love how much you love your Jooby, your joby and each otherby. It’s really lovely to see
The fact that the fire alarm went off not only once, but twice in a row without something even happening the second time might just be Joob getting revenge after hearing you guys were going to choose pink either way
3 times, child. It went of 3 times.
@@CeeGeeFursuits ah you are mistaken my kin, it went off many times that night due to having low battery
@@CeeGeeFursuits I know, that’s why I said twice in a row. The third one had a larger pause in between it
I love the fact that y’all have so many options for Joob to eat and drink out of, y’all are such amazing pet parents
15:53 Looks like she nods a little. Just a little "yes, yes". (:
Joobie is so spoiled I love it!
Ikr
Great joob! Keeping the boss happy is the best practice.
I would add a bead of transparent sili-cone between the acrilic glass and the shelf for ease of cleaning.
The cafe aesthetic is so perfect, and all the wood working looks incredibly neat (at least to someone who knows nothing about woodworking)
I use a boot tray against the wall to protect from splatters. I’ve thought about using removable wallpaper for a cuter option. this project is so fancy!
it looks awesome !! just make sure that joob is getting hydrated because most cats don’t drink enough water if it’s next to their food bowl.
i definitely need to make one of these for my cats. i'm so excited to see the final product!
I haven't watched your videos in quite some time (maybe 1.5+ years). You guys are still just as fun and beautiful and wholesome. Keep up the great work!
I love Evan’s absolute delight to create something cute, we stan
It's probably the dust setting off the fire alarm. Use some compressed air to clean them. (The stuff you use to clean your pc)
That usually does the trick.
"Ma'am, would you like a little bit of- AUUUUGGHH" the sound effect killed me!!
How do you feel about adding caulk to that seam between the wooden bowl holders and the backsplash? So that you don't have to worry about food particles or moisture sneaking in there.
I was not expecting that transition from messy desk to clean desk when you finished gluing the legs... Honestly a good transition.
I feel like Katelyn is the crazy cat lady and Evan is the wholesome husband who’s just following Katelyns needs
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone this dedicated to their cat 🤣
The pictures of Joob as a kitten 🥰
Evan: I like the look of thick boards
Katelyn: you cannot lie, those other brothers can't deny!
You guys absolutely need to register or patent this product and market it in various sizes and color choices for cats and dogs - it's wonderful!
3:15 I love their woodworking projects lol. It's interesting and satisfying
The projects for Joobie cat are ALWAYS my favorites! 😊😊💕💕
Can you guys do like a, how bubbly can we make a silicone mould? Like whip it up without the vacuum chamber to see how bubbly you could make the outside of a cube?
Is this weird lol
Yessss!! Joobie kitten pics!!
Today ends perfectly!!
this was the first Even and Katelyn video I've watched and now I realise why I like you guys so much, CAT EVERYTHING!
Their cute and/or cat projects will Always be my favorites
I love how one of those plants in the mock-up is literally just a stalk of parsley 😂
You guys for sure always go all out for your intro. And that’s one of the reasons you are my favorite channel. Love you guys. Keep it up. 😁😊
I absolutely love this omg, kind of amazed that you didn't make an extremely over engineered fancy stand with resin and LEDs for her
I think the light that they have there is actually brighter than they needed. They likely could have got one that was thinner and not as bright. Cats don't need much light.
4:32 Its Strange not hearing the background music through some dirty buds while an australian man yells at them
Haha
Perfect thing to watch after taking a morning nap because of my new puppy needing to go out constantly at night
I always love Katelyn's editing, but it's especially enjoyable in this vid.
I work at petsmart! so great to have my lovely work place sponsor some of my favorite UA-camrs!
Joobie got spoiled on with some good, good extra food for this ad spot. What a lucky girl.
I will definitely need to build something like this for my Binx whenever I move into an apartment! He’s so messy with both wet and dry food!
16:32 Cute Reflection reaction 😸
my fave part of this is evans little happy wiggle when his terrible joke bombed :P can he be any cuter ???? love this project ! it must be really nice to be able to need something and be able to make it for a fraction of the cost
4:21 she went for the pink cause it’s similar to salmon. I noticed with our cat when we have different color blankets around he goes for the more salmonish fishy color and stays away from the darker ones.
I remember watching your videos about 4 years ago and totally forgot about your channel, this video came up on my recommended and I was like “oh yeah these guys they were cool!” You are even cooler now and it’s nice to see how your channel has grown!
8:27 nope, it was the security alarm because joob was smugglin in hammm
We have the same drinking fountain for our cats. They seem to love it.
What fountain is it? :)
@@AB-nk7qu petsafe ceramic avalon is what amazon uk calls it
u guys are one of my favorite youtubers, ur videos hold so much positivity and entertainment and knowledge
I just love this channel. I watch your videos since at least a year or two (I think, I subscribed in 2021-ish?).
Your videos always make me smile. You do interesting projects, your relationship is just couple goals (at least from what we can see 😋), Joob is such a precious lady cat, and you do your videos in a fun way. What I love the most is that you also film your fails. This makes you way more likable. And your wins are made really good.
All I want to say is: Please continue to make these videos. You make us happy. 💜
Okay I do agree that looks so much nicer. You guys did a great job on that project. Always fun to see what you guys make and the process
10:00 You actually got me good with that one..Almost chocked on my pasta when I started laughing :D
looks very tidy also hiding the cables is a nice touch
♥
Hello, just want to say the reason I think she chose pink is the editing supervisor, saw the mock up of the 3 d models and Photoshop.she was like oh nice I like it, I'll choose it all the way for the legs.
You two make the cutest things for joob 💜
I don't know why, but this is one of the most fun video I've seen in a long time. I laughed SO much, so thanks for that!
I was laughing when Evan was talking about the wobbly legs design 🤣
Edit: omg, the final result looks great !
You three are so cute together. I can't get enough of this channel
i can watch u guys all day….not even kidding that’s all i did today :) it was a good time
