Good odds that spray would eat the foam. I would have just drilled some holes in a couple of pieces of scrap wood. Something else I have seen around, but haven't tried myself, is using one of those cat scratching boards made from laminated corrugated cardboard. From what I have seen, they seem to work well with bamboo skewers but toothpicks might be too small.
I'm in the "automotive world" and we never paint directly onto plastic simply because there will be 0 adhesion. We actually use a produce called plastic primer which you can get in clear aerosol form and it's basically an adhesion promotion for bare plastic to help paint stick to it, I think that will help with the paint not peeling using the aerosol epoxy.
In the last two videos, I noticed a lot of stress related to time. I believe we like the happiness and charm in your videos while enjoying the process of new things that you guys do. Please enjoy what you do and no need to stress yourself. we will be here whenever you will post a new video :)
YT doesn't see it that way, unfortunately. They reward channels that post regularly following a specific routine, and seem to punsuh those who don't, sadly. No wonder so many UA-camrs feel like they're stuck on a treadmill that they simply can't get off. 😞
For better adhesion, you can give the surface a "pre-etch" with sodium hydroxide, toluene, acetone, or even hydrochloric acid. You need to increase the surface energy of the (probably) PBT keycaps.
@@chlorophyllheart either that or use some kind of primer, which doesn't sound too far fetched, using black primer would have the same effect, maybe the only drawback would be the legibility of the actual keys
This would work if the problem was adhesion to the keycap surface, but their problem here is delamination from the crystal coating. Even with better adhesion, a thick coating would still separate into layers. Considering this, they provided a good possible solution, which is to make the resin layer permeate the crystal layer. We will have to wait to see if it worked.
How to fix the peeling problem: LIGHTLY SAND YOUR KEYS. The keys are smooth plastic, so naturally the spray resin would peel off, but if you sand the keys it will give the plastic some texture for the resin and color change powder to stay.
I know this sounds strange, but there’s something about you guys...your humor, your teamwork, your attitudes in your videos and I’ve been binge watching them and rewatching them because they’ve been keeping me just above the line from my major depression. I suggest doing a light sanding over any smooth surface, it helps sprays adhere to them better. It really does help, it may not work all the time, but it does work for most surfaces.
A thought on the delaminating: it may be that the crystal paint needs a primer to be able to stick to that plastic properly (very common for a lot of types of paint, especially with smooth plastics), and that the clear you sprayed does not need a primer. If so, would only need one coat of the clear, a bunch of crystal coats, then the top clear coat. Might be an experiment for when you try to mood ring your, uh... steering wheel? I dunno, you're more creative than me figuring that out. :P
Hey you guys should be more careful when using the 2k clear coat, that stuff is highly toxic even if it touches your skin. Please be sure to read up on safety more before using again, because the skin can absord the isocyanate. Please be sure to have proper ventilation, and either a full body painter suit or a long sleeve shirt at least. I hope people will like thos comment so maybe they will see it.
I think they really didn’t think it through I mean how hard was it for them to get a plastic key board cover and put the resin in then all they had to do next was to make a reversed indent for the key to attach

ok, only halfway through the video and I have suggestions for the future.
mount the key to a pike that can be spun
mood spray only on the top of the key do a couple extra layers
sand the whole key (very high grit like 600)
sanding will give the resin a very grippy surface to bond to and the resin will smooth it back to glossy
have your cup of resin and dip the key into it to cover only the surface and not the back
while still in the cup, but above the level of resin after dipping, spin the key to throw off any extra to the sides where it will run back into the pool
set aside to dry right side up so the resin levels on the top
I just watched your video with the mood ring on Xbox. And then this 😍😍love it
im to lazy to do any of the crafts they do, so I exchange my laziness by using that time to watch them do all the hard work 🌝🌚✨

I love watching you two. You make it so much fun and I learn what not to do on my projects and what will work. So, thank you for all the videos.
