Great video - many thanks BTW, if the roof is not opening properly, you can try resetting it using this process open the valve, manually close the roof then close the valve start the engine and cycle the roof open and close it worked for me
Very useful. Thanks - saved me as the heavy rain started. Just a thought (although I know it needs to go to a repair shop) is it worth just closing the hydraulic screw straight away again as a precaution so it isn't missed?
The tool u used to lock it again is missing on my tt8j. Any ideas, where to order a new one? Can't find it on the net. Thanks a lot! Great video by the way!
Hi my friend was helping close the roof manually yesterday and didn't clip the ball joint in properly. It came off and wouldn't clip back on, then fell down into the abyss - any idea where I can buy a replacement, or what this part is called? Thanks
Itshould come out ifyou give it a good tug, your problem will mostly be getting the spline back in to lock it down. What happens is the little motorthat the spline connects too shifts a little so the two splines don't line up anymore. Then you have to put a little power too the motor so the spline lines up again, then you can reinsert the pin. Thats what i did on my MK2,
Same junk system bmw and all German car makers use for auto tops. Really? I miss my old E30 manual drop top. One had, flip, fold and drop. One had pull, drop, lock and go. When did we get so lazy to put up with this garbage...
Great video - many thanks

No harm in closing screw, especially as inexperienced repairers sometimes think pump has failed !

I have one video saying the spline goes back in and this one saying it doesn’t. Is the car safe to drive?
Hi
Spline won't always go back in, as long as it's locked all the way, it would be fine

Hi
It's called a linkage, you can buy a repair kit from the Audi dealer local to you.
Or we could arrange one for you

Why does it need to go to the repair shop? Because the Hydraulic pressure?

If it doesn't close and you have to close manually this is because there is a fault
This is why you take it to a repair shop
The original spline isn’t coming out, how hard should I be pulling yo get it out?
Hi it should come out unless jammed
Typically a bit of a wiggle and the come out
Don't twist it, as it'll only break the tool
