I also now have another WR1 that will be for sale at some point in the near future ,, please feel free to contact me about it if you are in the market for one
Do the WR1 internals really handle 450hp no problem? Heard people say they actually top out at 400hp and its the block that holds 450hp. Is it really safe to push the WR1s to 450hp on the stock internals?
@@Triboro100 yes iv seen many around the 450bhp mark and that is also still running the top mount intercooler aswell ,,, 450 is what I consider a safe number to push these newage sti engines to as iv done many of them to this spec now and they have ran for years doing track days and hard driving

I'm sure he was an awesome guy and will be missed dearly.😢 Wishing all of you safe travels and a wonderful week ahead. As you say, see you on the flipside.✌
Hey Mick👊🏽yes Steve is a legend indeed, thank you for positive comment as always brother,I always look forward to hearing from.you and your family stay safe Mick and I will indeed see you on the flipside 😎👊🏽
Now the WR1 didn't start out as a WR1, it started out as a 1000 car production run of Petter Solberg Edition car, 265PS with the base cosmetic changes (blacl seats being one of them) and the DCCD, Ice Blue paint, antracite wheels I think (standard STI alloys). 500 came to the UK and were converted to WR1's with the PPP and lowering springs, wheels etc. You could also buy parts like the Prodrive battery clamp, diff guard and the likes (that includes wheels as well). It was actually cheaper on insurance than a PPP'd STI, which was unusual as those were only 305ps, this was down to the WR1 being sold as a package rather than a modified car (which it basically was, no longer being factory standard). They were a decent UK car and warrantied by I.M. (International Motors, who were Subaru UK, along with some other brands like Kia), but it was still not the best or most powerful production Subaru to that date, that would still fall to the 2 S series cars, the S202 (still keep looking for one of these in yellow and the first Subaru to exceed the 280ps gentlemens agreement) and the S203, both of which produced 320ps from the factory. The JDM twin scroll cars from the same period were better cars (though there were a couple of specs, the GL and KL, these were the basis of the standard STi and the Spec C). There was also the 2003 WR Limited, based on the standard STI but with a few nice options (roof vent for instance). Good cars, miss them sometimes, but not the fuel consumption 😄
@@Namesakes.unit-x-10sq10 EDM STI's needed 98 RON fuel minimum to run as standard, the PPP on STI's was the same, you could run WRX and Turbo 2000's on 95 RON with PPP's but you would not get the full quoted power, Prodrive reccommended Super Unleaded on those for the full benefit 🙂
@@Namesakes.unit-x-10sq10 not really, those STi ecu's were not good at retarding to 95 RON fuel, one of the first cars back in 2002 needed the engine replacing after 1 month (from new), due to running on 95 RON, the higher the RON the better the STi's like it, and the JDM's from the same period were mapped for 100 RON fuel, so either needed a fuel remap to 97 RON or octane booster to ensure they didn't det to death :( I should add that decatting a standard map car is also pretty fatal to the engine, it causes boost spikes (which will in turn cause pre detonation), and also kill the engine.
Phuc - the ol' Subies sure do grow on you in so many ways. Longer term plan for my Legacy is a comprehensive engine swap bolted up to Stu 6spd/4wdrivetrain. Seen LS1's, 2J's, RB's, 13B/20B, N54's, K24's etc in there (albeit some with full subframe/rear-drive/gearbox mods) Some motivation being novelty value (how long until 1JT power gets old?) - also opportunity to refresh and beef up the EJ20 taking my time. Big fan of the fundamentals amounting to Subaru goodness, stability at speed pretty major there. Feel better for my safety losing control in this contraption as opposed to some older and lighter 2wd car from my youth (but the fun and power to weight!) Longitudinally mounted Volvo/Audi 2.5 5 banger with supercharger floats my boat. Tis but a dream but the journey ahead will have scope for such. Few decades of battery development and a silent but deadly DC electric is possible with minimal space for packs required etc. That said would I spend a similar chunk of coin on a GC8 or EVO 3? Probably the Mitsi - rarer where I am but likely more expensive to build. This one seems to have a satisfying powerband whilst boosting. Good effort blokes, been missing the uploads lately from this channel.

Do you have to fill 98 RON petrol on cars with the PPP? Considering EDM STi's are down to 265 hp because of the EU standard petrol?
