@@fabrb26 Its vaguely similar yes but so are most 90s era cars. It has a lot of design features and body lines found on none of these cars. Plus the unique advantage of the boxer engine allowing for a much lower hood/bonnet. The ratio of the windscreen height to the rest of the car is also very clear looking at the car in person, especially when you sit in it.
I had one of those a few years ago...worse decision ever to sell it 😢...loved that car so much. Every time you drive it it puts a smile on your face and that distinct boxer engine rumble 🙌🏼
Thank you once again Capt Bradford-San for bringing another Gran Turismo car to life! I remember so vividly buying one of these cars in the game and thinking I had reached the pinnacle of the WRC! These 90s cars are becoming so rare now that by default are becoming classic cars just on rarity! Another brilliant video! Keep up the great work! Cheers!
Great work! I am in Tachikawa and have a very nice 1996 DC2 Integra Type R, a 1996 Prelude Type-S, and a 1995 WRX STI Wagon 555 edition if you would be interested in doing a review on any of them. I love what you are doing with the channel.

Excellent channel this a real hidden gem. Really high quality and filled with loads of nuggets of info. No daft music and Instagram obsessed junk. Just the good stuff. Keep it up. Greetings from the UK
My experience is the same, fell in love with these cars with Gran Turismo, it's been a dream of mine since childhood. Now I am the lucky owner of a JDM version 1 V-Limited WRX, 250/1000. I would love to see a similar video of the V1, Group A cars also. Thanks for the great journalism!
Very nice review! In your comparison with the Ver. V, you just forgot the "clutch switch" only avalaible on Ver. VI. I imported my WRX STi Coupe Type R Version 6, in France, 2 years ago, and it is a fabulous car! :)
I can confirm, Gran Turismo on the PlayStation, introduced everyone I know to the whole Japanese scene, and then some. Truly brilliant game ahead of it's time when it came out. It really conveyed the idea of ownership and progression nicely.
Excellent video, only negative is that you should show an acceleration run on each car, people want to hear and see how they go. I was disappointed you didn’t do this. FYI I remember hearing that one of the engineers responsible for the STI Impreza development always ranked the Version 3 STI as the best. It was apparently a little more raw with higher lift cams than the later versions and revved to 8250rpm. For me though, the ultimate is the original STI, the very first handmade closed deck block model. Very very rare to find now. My dream collection would be an original STI (not called ver 1, the version name only came after the original ie ver2,3,4,5,6) A Ver 2 STI Type RA and a Version 3 STI and a Ver 5 STI Type R. Great cars, better than the EVO’s (I’ve owned both) The impreza had more character and nice short gearing with a lovely revvy short stroke boxer unit made the drive more fun. Buy them while you can!!

J is the origin code (Japan). "Origin" means the country in which it was produced; Japan, even for NA cars, still built in Japan (precisely where we'll get to later)
F is the manufacturer code; Subaru (In the VIN spec, F has been allocated for Subaru and actually means Fuji Heavy Industries)
1 is the production facility. In the VIN spec, the value of this digit is set by the manufacture. In this case, Subaru's Gunma facitilty
G is the production line; Impreza
M is the NA chassis code; M for coupe and C for Sedan (it actually is backward like that) and F for Wagon.
6 is the engine code. In this case, 6 is an EJ253 N/A. 8 would be a Turbo'd EJ20 (EJ is the block type, the 20 or 25 is the displacement and the 3 is revision. A 7 revision is reserved for STI)
7 is the trim. In this case, the 2.5RS. Note that a 7 trim and an F chassis code doesn't exist and is invalid. The RS was never produced in a wagon body type.
5 means it comes with an SRS (Supplimental Restraint System: Airbags)
4 is a check digit. The value of all other characters is run through an algorithm to determine the correct check digit. This digit is used to determine if the VIN is valid
X is the year; W is 1998, X is 1999, Y is 2000, Z is 2001

The valid range for the coupes would be 400001 to 408774. Only 8755 coupes were built across all four years. 6,866 5MT and 1,889 Automatics (making an automatic RS an extreme rarity, but also a travesty).

Also, 2.5RS Non-turbo with Cusco/Whiteline and STi suspension and full bushing mods, with 225r16 tires and lightened pully... could keep up with the GD STi turbo, yup we raced them. When you skidded or drifted you use the accelerator pedal to steer. Stick shifter could be better, very notchy, weren't sure you were in gear even with a short shifter from Cobb tuning. I wish I could get the Porsche speced Legacy concept transmission installed :) It was ok in rain always had to pay attention steering very light and kinda vague. Dry track, it ate tires up. Snow very stable on good tires. IT LOVED GRAVEL!!!
I miss you my 2.5RS GD8 :)
