Followed your suggestions and in a half an hour solved my problem, which was the same problem you had...engine disabled, horn blew every time I opened the door. My alarm was an after-market KARR alarm but it worked the same way. Wife is very happy. She gets her car back now. A mechanic removed my other alarm for $100. This one, I did for free. Thanks for your awesome video!
@@2018LexusGSF I am having issues with mine now. And this shop thinks it's after market and want to remove it. I think I'd rather call the dealer. Any insight?( A girl who knows nothing about cars.)
@@rosaaguirre6149 shops and dealers have an upside and a downside to them. Shops are going to be cheaper but have more of a chance to “scam” you or screw something up. Dealers on the other hand are most of the time way more expensive but they usually won’t mess anything up and they usually warranty their parts and labor. So if the issue still arises, they will fix it again for free(most dealers). It kinda all depends on the problem your having. Sometimes it’s worth spending the money on the dealer to have the peace of mind. And sometimes it’s worth saving a couple extra bucks. I personally do the work on my cars myself but alarms can be tricky.
@@rosaaguirre6149 and to tell if your system is aftermarket is the stock alarm brain chip will be underneath your drivers seat. Or it should be. And the stock key fob is either black or get and only has two buttons with no labels. This also depends on what year 4Runner you have.
