A lot of dealers will also just leave the trackers in when final payment is made as they can't be bothered to remove them, you've already paid for it in any case. If it has a remote kill switch it will interrupt your starter motor usually, some will do fuel pump like some alarm systems. Usually under the steering column or from the starter relay which is what it looks like this one has, standard tracking devices can be installed anywhere I put one in the pillar and wired it to a dash cam cable I had hardwired in so unless you stripped the car it was connected in the headliner of the car you wouldn't find it. Some kill switches "fail safe" which means when the relay is "off" it connects the cables together to allow you to start the car, others will require a signal from the tracker to "activate" the starter motor, in this case just permanently power the relay or re-join the 2 ends together eliminating the relay altogether, you can do this anyway and leave the tracker installed or wire it to a 12V battery at your house so it looks like the car is there and at least it won't look too suspicious to the finance company and they will think they have disabled your car when in fact they haven't. The trouble with these devices is, who pays to get it fixed when the relay goes bad and stops you from starting your car after leaving it installed? Lots of people driving around with these installed and they have no clue!
I wonder if that’s the error message I keep getting on my fully paid off car. I bought it outright in feb 2019. Fast flashing red light…it is an immobilizer warning. It’s the second warning of this type. the other one can be turned off with a weird series of turning signal on then off pumping break etc. I thought it was silly but totally worked the three times it happened. the red light doesn’t seem to have this type of shutoff
The customer who probably doesn't even know the device is present usually ends up paying for the diag and fix for a battery drain caused by the device.🤦
I once found 2 of thim in a Nissan altima. But thay still took the car. There was a third one in the trunk attached to the quartle panel. I thought it was a collision sensor. 😅
Great job guy I just want to say though this looks easily done if you don't have any idea what you're doing if you don't don't try this you'll just muck your car up okay you may have a mechanic friend that can help you out...A $100 Bill usually get them to find it for you somebody needs to know what they're doing before they do this yeah

I install these for people. The black, red and white wires are for tracking. The yellow wire out of the tracker is to turn off the starter. It looks like they extended it under the hood by splicing in a black wire to the relay.

I'm disappointed that someone decided that it would be a good idea to divulge some my business practice on the internet open to the public. But alas, here we are. As I said in a previous comment on this video, using GPS devices with starter interrupt capabilities is, in my opinion, a waste of money. While many suppliers will price GPS+Starter Interrupt devices the same as OBD2-style GPS without Starter Interrupt, the installation is what separates the two in terms of price. The Starter-Interrupt style (shown in this video) requires the expertise of a professional for installation. They used to charge me two hours of labor @ 50 dollars an hour = 100 labor per vehicle. The OBD2 style can be done by a layman, such as me, in a matter of minutes, literally faster than I can finish a Triple Starbucks Espresso, especially with a battery powered bit driver, like a DeWalt. Just unscrew the original port, plug it into the Y-Splitter, plug the GPS into one of the ends, the other end goes where the original plug used to be, and tuck the mess behind the trim, works so well that even the mechanics doing an OBD2 smog check can't tell it's there. No install fee, almost no down time, ready for sale in minutes.
My ram truck has this extra OBD port, I found it cause it wouldn’t correctly latch and sit in the factory obd housing, it says LoJack kit on the sticker… hmm wonder if it was from the original owner or from the dealership.
Thanks for uploading this video. It’s a real service to the little guy just trying to make it. Do you mind telling me how it ended up working out? Were they able to track you by phone or any other means!?
Yes they will know and it is illegal to remove it because they tell you about the tracker and make you sign paperwork showing that you understand and agree to it. They can legally have you arrested and legally the only way to not lose the car is to pay off the full amount of the loan immediately, which 99% of people financing a vehicle cannot afford to do. That's why I only purchase vehicles cash and fix all my own vehicles.
So you have two questions, first "Can they (the lender) find out that you've tampered with the device and, second "Can you get into big trouble". I'll start off by answering the first question because it's the easiest. First - Yes. The device has an internal battery that, while short lived, has enough battery left in it to send out one last "SOS" message to the lender, letting him/her know that the device has been tampered with, and it's location at that time. Not much can be done about that except block the signal, which isn't easy, but not impossible. I'm a dealer and I use these devices myself. I've found out that they work well out in the open, but if the car is in a parking garage, sometimes I lose communication with the device, depending on how many floors of steel reinforced concrete's above it. One of my customers work at a casino, she parks in the employee parking garage, and when the car is there, it won't respond to my commands. Found out why when I went to visit and found out that my cell phone wouldn't work either while in the garage. Second - Can you get into big trouble... that one's a bit more complicated. If you're talking about criminal trouble, then in theory, yes, but in practice, no. I'm in Texas, and is per Texas Penal Code Section 32.33 (Hindering Secured Creditors) it is a felony to conceal mortgaged property from the lienholder. So in theory, yes. But the last time that I could find that someone was actually charged with such a crime was before I was born. So in practice, probably not. It's a law that's pretty much un-enforced. Probably the same in other states. That doesn't mean that snipping wires is without consequence. While SWAT may not kick in your door for cutting the wires to the GPS, the lender can enforce his/her rights in civil court. I do. I repossess the car. Then the customer will want to cure the default (that is, make up for late payments) and get the car back, but then I refuse. I'll tell the customer that I'm not interested in him making up the back payments. I want him to pay off the entire loan, every penny, in 10 days, or I keep the car, I keep the down payment, I keep any payments I've made up until that point, and if the customer traded in a car at the time of purchase, I keep that too. And legally I can do this because of Uniform Commercial Code, Article 1 (General Sales), Part 3 (Territorial Applicability and General Rules), Section 309 (Option to Accelerate at Will). Basically if I, the lender, believe in good faith that the prospect of payment has been impaired (like when the customer starts cutting wires off the GPS), then I can cancel the loan and demand full payment within 10 days, otherwise I keep everything. So think twice before picking up a pair of wire cutters, especially if you've already invested a lot into the car.
When I purchased my truck, they told me that I had to pay an additional fee for a LoJack tracker that they had installed. I told them that I didn't want it and to take it off. At the end they forced me to take it. Now I'm wondering if I just paid for something that they could also use to track the vehicle for repo purposes...
I'm hearing now after june 2022 all new cars sold in Europe will be speed controlled as in the car will not be allowed to exceed the speed limit of the road. It will be controlled by the cars GPS system
I found out they could do that after 1 missed payment. I figured you would get time like with a cc if you made a mistake but nope. So I'll borrow if I have to buy I understand not having options

@@kylereese4542 lol nope and it bought me time to find another car. One of my dads friends who owns a shop and a car lot is pretty much giving me a white charger with a hemi in it. Only gotta pay 1000 bucks #blessed
@@russellscottsmithjr3003 Hopefully, they don't still say you owe them for the remaining balance. I got a brand new car and told the JD byrider to come get their car and they still came after me for the balance, even after they came and got their car back.
If your loan has been satisfied, you could try calling the former lienholder and ask them to remove the GPS. Most contracts state that the lienholder is responsible for the removal of the GPS after the loan has been satisfied. But act quickly, that responsibility has an expiration date. The contract that I use states that the customer has up to 30 days to contact me for removal. Other option, if you are interested, is to have ownership of the GPS transferred to you. Depending on the supplier of the GPS, sometimes the lienholder can transfer ownership to you. You would be able to keep track of your car (as long as you maintain an active subscription to the GPS supplier), and the lender would no longer be able to track your vehicle. Keep in mind that most supplier will not renew a subscription after it expires, so don't let it expire if you intend to go this route. If the lender will not remove the GPS, and you have no use for it, and you lack the expertise to remove it yourself, you could hire someone to do it for you. If I were in your position and needed someone to do it for me, I would look for a business in my area who specializes in automotive radios, alarms, and remote starts. A technician working in that field would likely have the expertise to remove a GPS unit without damaging the car.
Yes, they have to take it off. When you sign the contract it says the gps is on there, and not to be tampered with or they can take you to court. When the car is paid off, they exchange the title for the gps.
So I have a question. The little box inside their let’s say my partner ripped that whole entire box and wires thing out and now the car won’t start what should I do?
The GPS box has a black wire that was connected to it follow that black wire you will find this other little small box with a fuse on it take that fuse out cut out a piece of any speaker wire and put it on each side of the connection of the fuse box then your car will start

Can they find out or tell that you disconnected these? And can I get into big trouble?
Yeah that's for repo purposes be real careful.

Do you have a video for gps removal from a paid vehicle?
Can someone please explain this not assuming we KNOW WHAT ALL THESE WIRES GO TO??!
Hey I have a 2023 Hyundai Elantra how to find the tracker on there if it has one?
You have to look for your ODB reader the one you can go to AutoZone and they will hook the computer up to it
It should be connected to that ODB reader I will be making a video soon when I get back home
My panel does not come off can i just cut the wires to the gps
You “TOLD” them you weren’t going to pay??? Yea uhhhh, I’m coming for the car gps or not.
So does the car company's gotta take the gps off after the car is purchased ?
No they said you can actually keep it and track your own car
motivation Guy36 How Can I Do It On My Car
Yes, they have to take it off. When you sign the contract it says the gps is on there, and not to be tampered with or they can take you to court. When the car is paid off, they exchange the title for the gps.
So I have a question. The little box inside their let’s say my partner ripped that whole entire box and wires thing out and now the car won’t start what should I do?
The GPS box has a black wire that was connected to it follow that black wire you will find this other little small box with a fuse on it take that fuse out cut out a piece of any speaker wire and put it on each side of the connection of the fuse box then your car will start
@@BTruckinglife I will give this a try and hope for the best. I wish I could post a picture of what I’m talking about. It also has these end wires that are connected to purple plastic pieces
Bet now they won’t be able to track me tysm
