Hey CowTown! We absolutely loved this video and are glad to hear you're enjoying the new flight planning tool for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. We've included this video in this week's Development Update as our featured community video of the week: www.flightsimulator.com/december-5th-2024-development-update/ Keep up the great work!
Career mode needs this more than anything, a mission builder, that offers some flexibility and options to choose airports, departures and destinations,
This is great! Despite legitimate criticism, MSFS 2024 is already a big step forward. This feature seems to cover the gap for a casual like me - I always wanted a good integrated flight planning tool in 2020 but I'm not serious enough to use or need Navigraph - there was no way to justify the cost when I'm just puttering around in the sky.
Thanks for this video. I'm still new to flight sims but so far I have spent much of my time on MSFS 2024 in the menus setting up my controls and using the EFB. Spent more time on the ground than the air!
A great flight planning tool. My only thought, or wish, is that they would make it compatible with add-on aircraft. As it is now, it only recognizes in-game default aircraft and nothing purchased via Marketplace or third party such as ORBX, etc when creating the flight plan.
Awesome hint for that flight planner! Love it! Back with MSFS 2020 I used pay ware 3rd party software for that mainly and probably racked up som 700 plus flight hours flying a cpl of times around the globe with the DA-62 twin turbo prop Daimond aircraft just to do it with a smaller non commercial jet! :D
Until route following is created, I am using Little Navmap on a separate display connected to the Sim. You can create a route using this MS Flight planner tool, copy the route description to the clipboard and paste it into LNV's "edit flightplan route description" (icon next to LNV's toggle flight plan icon)
Lido charts have one big flaw, they only cover large airports. For anyone that flies a lot of GA, chances are that the airport that you would like to fly out of, Navigraph is your only option. Also, if you want to use the free Simbrief flight planner for your operational flight plan and then think that you will use the free Lido charts in MSFS24, well, there is a problem with that as well. The free version of simbrief does not have the up to date charts in its flight planning tool and thus, the procedures listed in your flight plan may not exist in Lido's line up as they are kept up to date in msfs. So, in other words, Navigraph is still your only option if you are serious enough and use it's simbrief and charts, and thus, they will still live on and will live on quite well...
@@SomethingElseToothank you for pointing this out. I was quite excited to see this so went to have a look and can't find any of the airfields I would fly VFR from. So it seems VFR is largely pointless at the moment with these maps as I don't fly between major airports in light aircraft.
@SuperFlyCH But u gotta say this is pretty impressive still and for the occasional simmer this is more than enough. And don't forget that it's completely free and there are alot of tools in there that they could easily charge for with good reasons. Sure navigraph is still ur no1 if u very serious about everything but for me this is all I ever wanted
Who knew about any of this!? This looks fantastic! Would love to see flight tracking on the sim, or better still, the website! Thanks so much for the detailed look.
This is a nice step forward, to be sure. Those who think that it will replace Navigraph may be mistaken due to the coverage and constant improvements that the team makes.
Great video! thanks for the tutorial! This flight planner has made this game even more likable for me! I like the fact that we can save the flight plans and load them whenever we want. It also gives me the liberty to make my own routes which is fantastic!! Cant wait to go in and spend hours in the game! lol
Unfortunately this program is basically unusable for GA flying because it doesnt display the smallest airstrips and also the map isnt quite high enough resolution for the detailed flight planning where you are following valleys. it wouldnt take much to upgrade it and if that happened it would be a bloody great app.
tbh this is cool for the charts and not using navigraph. Now with the inibuilds aircrafts you have simbrief support so you can easily sync stuff from the simbrief to the MCDU. As this is vanilla, as far as i know, you cannot use the inibuild tablet with this. Also I think you can’t calc the take off performance with this. edit: So basically this works perfect mainly with no 3rd party aircraft models. 737 Max for example should work properly, planes like iniBuilds airbus aircraft may struggle a bit.
I've used this a few times so xbox pilots can load a flight plan created with other tools. Today for some reason everything works but the map in flight planner doesn't show the route??
Seems a bit laggy for map for me and really makes my fans spin very high. I don't know what the issue is my system is not the best but pretty decent. No other application does that for me. I had both 2020 and 2024 running at same time, Navigraph works fine, nothing else makes the system fans race which means it's overheating. Until I find out what's going on I'll pass. Anyone has any ideas?
To follow up something about Chrome and this App is causing the high CPU usage when zooming the map. I tried MS Edge and the problem goes away. So not sure what to think at the moment, in any case its a nice option and like the layout but will stick to Navigraph due to more coverage of smaller airports since I go mostly GA. They all have pluses and minus I like LittleNavMaps for one thing over Navigraph, and a couple of things here in FlightPlanner but Navigraph overall brings more together for me.
Been using this planner past couple of days. I can load my flight plan into the EFB without any problems. However when trying to send to ATC/Avionics it doesn't work. Only attempted the A320 Airbus and this is on the Xbox platform. Seems those on the XBox cannot upload via simbrief either.
Even in MSFS 2020 you got regularly updated navdata provided by Airbus NAVBLUE. You didn't actually need Navigraph for navdata, but for charts, flight planning (especially for Simbrief) and some 3rd party addon G1000/G3000 charts and moving map functionality in-cockpit. I believe MSFS 2024 will finally integrate LIDO charts provided by Lufthansa, too. Though LIDO isn't as comprehensive as Jeppessen and is mainly focused on commercial aviation. Jeppessen is what Navigraph uses. So if you're often doing small airfield GA flying you may still need Navigraph for the charts.
@@ChristianNelsonn MSFS 2024 DOES fully integrate LIDO charts, though yes, these are mainly for airliner/large commercial operations. Still, if you're an airliner pilot, MSFS 2024 gives everything you need...no Navigraph sub needed.
@@ChristianNelsonn thanks christian, i work for 3 years mit navigraph and many times the navblue database in msfs 2020 were old and this gaves differences between msfs and the flightplans with navigraph/simbrief. Now i have hoped that in msfs 2024 this would be better but if the new flightplanner uses navblue for the navdata then we have the same situation. By the way, BATC and SAYINTENSION have Simbrief as the base input for the ATC…..☹️ . With this differencies in the database we will have problems.
One problem with Lido, they do not have coverage for smaller airports, so larger airliner/corporate airports only. And if you think that you will still use Simbrief for their operational flight plan and then use Lido for the charts, well the free version of Simbrief is not the most up to date and can reference procedures that Lido does not have as it is up to date. All this means is that Navigraph is still relevant.
Great video .. Is this just a full screen desktop version of the flight planner that’s already included in the EFB? Problem with the one in the EFB is I haven’t been able to figure out a way to make the charts full screen so there is a lot of zooming and scrolling. I wonder is there are more functions in this web based one.
Doesn't appear to work properly with Xbox, can see the flight plan saved and go to load it and it just says loading without it actually loading anything in. Hopefully this will be sorted ASAP.
Not bad at all. A good addition to the MSFS 2024 EFB. But unfortunately the planner does not know various smaller airports that are available in the internal EFB.

Interested in whether similar charts and plates are available for airports outside of North America. All of the stuff you showed is already available free even if you don't have FS2024, but foreign approach plates, airport diagrams, etc. are often harder to get. If they have those things worldwide, it would be a real value add.
@@CowTown The problem with that goddamn tablet is that it doesn't send any route to avionics I checked all A320's and cessnas in the game and none of them works so idk wtf is going on here I'm trying to do that since day one and no fucking luck!! aircraft acionics is empty no route nothing.
One thing I think will be amazing is if they add this flight planner inside the 2020. Me personally think that would be cool probably won't happen tho😢
Thanks for sharing this. I didn't know it was there. I think I'll cancel my Navigraph subscription because I only used the charts and now I can get them free! I tried to set up a flight plan in this new planner but can't find a way to set the departure to a parking space, only a runway. Maybe you can pick a parking space as the departure once the flight plan is loaded. I'll get into the sim and see if that's the case.
Same problem, if you chose a parking after you create a flight plan, it ll delete the departure procedure...so i don't know how to make a cold start with this
@@darkangel1473 thanks for checking that. I will continue using littlenavmap to create flight plans because you can select a parking spot as your departure and doing so will allow you to begin in a cold & dark state at a parking spot instead of ready to takeoff at a runway. That's probably why you do that too.
@rturney just check a other method, create flight plan, and then in the free flight page on the sim put the departure gate but no synchro with the atc and so I had a cold start working
This looks incredible for a newbie like me. I've not installed msfs24 yet, still on 2020. I have question about this; once I've planned the route and imported the flight plan, am I able to just load in, hit AP and it's all good to go? Like I don't need to go into the MCDU and tinker at all?
In EFB, be sure to click on send to avionics before starting your flight. I believe the streamer only filed with ATC. Once it's sent avionics you will see it in your plane as well.
What a great find, thank for the video. Do you know if the planner tracks your actual flight whilst flying - I would have expected it to be able to aka Navigraph and though the compass arrow on the lower right may have done this but doesn't seem to do anything for me.
Ah too bad it doesn’t track your flight but it is a great tool. I wonder how long it will take for that upgrade. May I ask you how I fix my issues with my flight modules that aren’t being recognized by the sim.
@CowTown then I'll keep with sim brief... Those charts you can read........ This game in general is not ready for market. It was rushed and feels incomplete
I think it was very well known, they were showing it from the very beginning of development, but did not anyhow advertised after lunch, there are some bugs, like no fuel calculation, the sync to glass cockpit does not work and others, but great tool anyway!
Its an awesome tool which doesnt work for every inibuilds Plane and its totally dumb from them, i hope the will change this. Yes i know i can use simbrief for free but then the ATC doesnt talk to me.
This should calculate the amount of fuel needed for the trip based on the waypoints and contingency ...etc ! Without it, this program is absolutely useless!
The free charts are cool and all, but I'm sticking with SimBrief for now since they have wayyyy more options for airplanes, does the fuel and weight calculations for me automatically, knows the equipment codes so I don't have to figure out what CPDLC FANS 1/A VDL Mode 2 means (if I don't want to), and is less complex and much easier to use. Also, the interface of the MSFS version is eerily similar to Navigraph Charts. Almost like they copied their homework and just changed it a bit. To me, the only advantage I see is the connection to the sim for the default ATC, which, in my opinion is pretty bad.

For sure! 🙂
I think it was very well known, they were showing it from the very beginning of development, but did not anyhow advertised after lunch, there are some bugs, like no fuel calculation, the sync to glass cockpit does not work and others, but great tool anyway!
THANKS A LOT
You're welcome!
Tried it it’s kinda confusing but super cool
Just gotta get the hang of it is all! 🙂
Amazing.
Hey I see my home runway on this map in the first 45 seconds.
Found mine too (KFIT), but its missing a runway!
Is this a official service of Msfs? Needs acess my Xbox informations.🤔
Yes.
All the crybaby's who are complaining right now about the game are gonna look pretty stupid pretty soon once they smooth out all the bugs.
I don't think anyone cares about that
Free charts!
Yup!
RIP LNM
It is sad this not avaiable for 2020.
You should upgrade, it’s nice.
@@dbeidesign I will. Later, when it start being stable, but till that I using 2020.
It’s a flightsim and there isn’t a planner in the sim itself? Baffling.
Well there is with the EFB in Sim. But this allows you to have it on a separate monitor or tablet/phone alongside the sim.
Bye bye navigraph.
