How to Set CUSTOM VIEWS in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 [Tutorial] 4K

A frequent question and I've followed a few tutorials where the method has changed over the last few months so I've recorded a How To video showing you EXACTLY how I saved my custom views that I've lately been using in my streams.

Thank you, this is brilliant. I have tried other tutorials, but they don't mention the keybinds for saving views so I couldn't get it working. Thank you so much for this. Edit- In actual fact, when I reset the camera back in the config file by adding 40, it has moved all my custom views forward so they don't work!

@@BritishAvgeek I didn't restart yesterday to try it out, just have now. I changed the 43 to 3, loaded the sim and set my cameras using the same keybinds as you, I then quit the sim and set that value back to 43, but when I load back in, my custom views are all offset due to adding the 40 back (i.e. they are all closer to the nose of the aircraft than where I set them) whereas yours remain fixed in place, any idea why that is?
Ignore me, just realised I could just move back to the positions and set the custom views... cheers!
@@thecommentator6694 yep sorry I should have explained that bit a little clearer in the video 😂 yeah you have to sometimes just reposition them after you set the value back because you're telling the camera settings to shift forwards again

Hi, just finished watching your Custom Views vid, which helped me no-end, you have a new subscriber BTW! Do you have any of your custom views bound to an alternative controller? I currently have my views bound to the NUMPAD, but would prefer to bind them to a Razer Synapse, I had used with FSX and P3Dv4, I've read my articles on this subject, but nothing to address the issue? Hope you don't mind me asking. Jim
Fantastic! Welcome onboard - I'm glad I was able to help 😃 I don't have an alternative controller now, like you I have the keybinds set for the custom views as Alt + 1 to 9 on the top of my qwerty. Would be interested to hear if you have a good way of doing it - I'm not particularly techy when it comes to working deep tech stuff out 😂

I’m doing this on the FlyBy wire air bus and I have no problems defining the views as described, however, when I change the Camera file back and then get into MSFS the programmed views are off. The window view ends up just outside the fuselage. (It worked fine when I tested in the edit mode)
Any ideas ??
Yep that's because you've set the figure back to the original value so just go and move the views back and save them a final time

I tried the exact steps but after reloading the sim the alt+num key behaved differently. It points somewhere else not on the saved points. Any ideas to resolve it ?
Just move them back and resave it the views and it's done :)
Is this method applicable to all planes besides A32NX including Fenix and boings
If i create my custom views like you just showed in this video will I loose all of them and have to set them up again if I reinstall the sim?
but when I reset the view point back to normal and try the new cameras in game the camera viewpoints have moved forward 40

in the fenix you can just "walk" into the cabin and set the custom views without needing to change any file stuff
Does anyone know how to delete one? I've looked and looked. I like to have a cycle view key... and sometimes it's a pain going through so many
Question: How can | made a key binding to enter inside the plane after I made some new views inside. I follow this video of you. But I can't look inside after the new changes. You talk about a key binding. Thanks in advance
They're the keybindings in the control menu - keyboard options - custom view 1 to 9
i just wish the camera would not travel when selecting the pre-set.

Very good video but my custom views are not saving…. I have the same CTRL ALT 1 set up as you and it’s not saving…
a good habit to teach viewers is to disable the line to change after making a copy and work on the copy line after disabling the original with a semi-colon symbol.
in this way to teach people how to disable a line / how to dicument a modification / how to roll back or trace changes.
lots a punter around - he is no programmer, right ? so then you teach 'em the useful bits, right ?

I could do though it would be very short!
AutoBrake set to max - start the takeoff roll, then before you reach V1 idle the throttle and the brakes will auto-apply onto max (don't touch the brakes or AutoBrake switches off) 👍
did everything just the way you did it I saved it CTRL ALT 1 and then went backed added the 4 restarded the sim and i hit alt 1 and it wont go to that camera. like i dont think it saved any input

I have the onestore folder but the community folder only has stuff i put in there nothign else am i missing something?
for the A32NX you want to go into the flybywire-a320-neo folder inside community
It seems this works, but now when i set it back to 43 all my custom views are linked to that. So all of the custom views are "40" in a wrong place.
This didn't work for me. All was going well until I reset the config file back to 43, and it had shifted all of my saved custom views by the same amount, so they're all off by 40. What did I do wrong?
Didn't do anything wrong - just move the views back and resave. A quicker "hack" is to set one left and right view at -40 then put the figure back to default and save the rest

Well, i cant open any files in the notepad, what should i do? i tried to download liveries on the salty 747-800, but i dont got the notepad files
You would definitely have the notepad files. If you have the files, and you have windows, you have notepad

Have you already set custom views? If not then you won't need to delete any. Failing that I'm not actually sure - you'd likely have to backup the old camera.cfg file and then put that back in place of the new one
I have just tried this several times and it still comes up with the same view which is as if I am standing in the door way looking out . Has anything changed since you originally released this video in Jan 2021 Thanks
Hi, nothing has changed no. Check for my custom view file on flightsim.to and see if those work instead
@@BritishAvgeek Thanks for telling me about your flightsim.to download but unfortunately it produced the same result. I was thinking that it might be the fact that I am using logitech yoke , switch panel and pedals which automatically set up the peripherals. Having said that thanks for all the good work you do and please keep writing your tutorials.
@@margaretmcdonald4839 ah yes you need the same keybinds - Alt+1 etc otherwise you need to set it yourself

You need to set the keybinds as I showed before I spawned in on the video. Set the filter to all as I mentioned and find the camera list to set what is missing

Great question - nope, save all the views as the video shows and it'll stay saved 👍 I'm a QA tester for the FBW A320 so update it sometimes twice a day and it has saved and remembered it every time 👍

@@Mandalor_ian no problem! Hope you find it useful. Same applies to the other aircraft.... If you get in a 747 - you can set all the key binds the same way (-40 from the first value) and it'll save for that too
@@BritishAvgeek ok thanks but I’ve only just got my head around the a320 lol I’ll leave the big birds until I’ve learned everything else I’m just trying to figure out how to read sids & star charts which is a bit confusing as on a few flights I’ve done on the final approach the planes gone all round the world so I’m trying to learn how to correctly choose the right star etc

Not sure why but it bugged out when I restarted it. Not sure if it is sim update 5, but I tested it in the sim, then once I restarted it, they got scuffed up. I am wondering if it is because I forced closed the application. The cameras were in the wrong position after the restart.
Did you reset the view to the original value? If so, it moves the views forward by a value of 40 too so you just need to re-position and re-save them

@@jdzzl no - when you minus 40 to go into the cabin to begin setting views, when you're done with one either side you can reset it back to the original value like I show and then go and re-save the camera views again

How do I get to the Center of the aeroplane?
Follow the video step by step as I show you - edit the cameras.cfg file save it and it should allow you to go into the centre

How did u do repaint?
Drew it up in Paint 3D and sent it to a livery creator to get it commissioned and made for the channel especially 👍
I don't have the option to move the view with the arrow keys. I've set to all but it's just not there 😭🤔
should have it in the keybind settings to "translate cockpit view left" - assign the left arrow, and so on
@@BritishAvgeek thanks so much mate. Got it. When I reset the config file back my camera views that I set were all off. So reset them again so not sure why we needed to do the config in the first place, I may have done something wrong but fantastic video and thanks for taking the time to explain it. Does this work for the Fenix?
Fenix is even easier... Set the keybinds for save and load custom views then just walk back into the cabin and save them 👌

when you put it back to 43 it moves all camera positions forward by a value of 43 too so just go ahead and move and resave the cameras again

Set the value back to 43, then when you load the aircraft again all the views are out of place so just move the views back to where you originally set them and save them again fresh now the value has been reset back to 43... It does work because I do it on every aircraft in the sim I want custom views for

@@gtujjteryjngg5970 the camera might just have decided to warp itself too far away again so look about and use the left right up down arrows to get back to the plane

@@gtujjteryjngg5970 then check the file you edited and make sure you didn't delete or edit the wrong bit
