The Vanicream one feels quite a bit lighter to me and has the 5 types of ceramides instead of three, compared to the CeraVe. It's more like the CeraVe PM in texture. The only real difference is that the CeraVe PM has niacinamide (which some people cannot use) instead of the two extra ceramides , and the CeraVe costs a dollar or two more on average for the same amount.

I absolutely love vanicream and all of their products, generally more then cerave. However, the Vanicream daily lotion burned and irritated my skin, I’ve never ever had that happen before with any Vanicream products. The Cerave daily moisturizing lotion didn’t at all.

Vanicream is my holy grail and idk what i would have done if i never started watching dr dray since she mentioned it in her videos.I’ve bought quite a few cerave products for my eczema and they just burn or sting my face or turn it very red and irritated.
My skin reacts badly to parabens. I’m glad to find a ceramide cream with nothing in it that’s likely to irritate it. For me, the Vanicream is well worth the extra cost. I have it on order. We shall see if it works for my crazily sensitive skin.
Honestly the Vanicream facial moisturizer seems like a potential dupe (kind of) for Avene Skin Recovery Cream, as they're both squalane based with minimal ingredients. I'll try it over repurchasing Avene as I feel I didn't get much from Avene and am just going ahead and finishing it off. It seems like Vanicream may not be as occlusive which could be an issue.

Yes!! I just ordered this last night! I’m so excited for it to arrive. I also ordered the Drmtlgy spf (untinted, super fair here!). I have been using CeraVe Products BUT they seem to be causing breakouts in strange places for me where I never break out (around my neck, forehead), and blackheads, something I haven’t had in many years. I also started having issue with the Cotz sensitive skin spf. I really like it but, as every mineral spf does - this one just took longer - I ended up super dry and super red where I applied it. Despite good hydration and moisturizing underneath. So sad! So many people say that mineral SPF is more tolerable for sensitive skin but I have actually had the opposite experience. I tolerate chemical SPF very well but not anything with zinc! Mineral powder is okay. La Roche Posay Cicaplast is okay. But not SPFs. Drmtlgy is the last I’m going to try. Otherwise I’ll stick to chemical SPFs. Thank you so much for this review and your thoughts! 🤗
I’ve actually heard other people say this too about zinc. I heard a dermatologist mention this & said that bc zinc has a mildly astringent quality, sometimes people cannot tolerate it bc it dries them out. I wonder if it’s maybe a zinc percentage thing? Like all mineral ones (I’m guessing) would have higher concentrations. The Drmtlgy one is excellent! It does have zinc tho, but maybe it’ll work for you since it’s a combo sunscreen? Btw I am also super fair, but use the tinted one w the regular and just apply 1/2 regular, then 1/2 amount tinted when it dries. Seems to work for me pretty well. And I’m too fair for most tinted sunscreens lol.
I’m the opposite. My eyes are super sensitive and burn like hell when I get chemical sunscreen near them. I also find most chemical sunscreens to be greasy and I can’t stand that. Especially when I’m going to exercise outside in the humid and hot SoFlo weather. Nothing like sweat and grease dripping chemical sunscreen into your already sensitive and burning eyes. I used to have to constantly flush my eyes with eye drops until I just accepted that mineral sunscreen is what I can tolerate only. I dislike the white cast to most mineral sunscreens but it beats having burning eyes and skin
It’s not exactly a dupe, but I LOVE the Eucerin advanced repair cream for KP. I use the one in a tub, but I think it also comes in a pump too. It’s cheaper too. $13 for 16 oz.
Yes. Its a facial moisturizer so it should be compared with another facial moisturizer....not a bottle of lotion than is for the whole body. Ofcourse its going to be better priced 🤷♀️🤦♀️

I have been using my vanicream products this week because my face was so irritated and even my Cerave Hydrating Cleanser burned. I was so glad I had my face wash and cream for my dry skin. I just think vanicream are stripped back and get me through when my skin gets very irritated.

Yea but that new cleanser has sooooo many ingredients the list is HUGE and personally won’t be going near my face. I like the vanicream cleanser and also the Eucerin Dermopure cleanser which only has 8 ingredients. So good!
I've found that the Cerave Moisturizing Lotion stings on contact with my facial skin (unlike my body skin) and I am suspecting the niacinamide as a cause.
FYI the inky list oat cleansing balm is back in stock at Sephora after months!! It’s the best for the first step in the double cleanse method. I ordered a shameful amount in fear it will go back out of stock lol. Vanicream in the tub is my go to!

Mignon Alverson it does - I’m pretty sure squalane can be used as an occlusive. Fatty alcohols are sometimes too, and it has those. From what I understand, they’re just not as heavy duty as the typical ones like Shea butter and petrolatum, hence the lighter formula. I think lots of ingredients can be emollients and occlusives at the same time also, like I know I heard a dermatologist (maybe Dr. Dray?) say that dimethicone is one of those. It’s just used as an occlusive to give a lighter feel to the product, as opposed to petrolatum.

Rasha Sarandah I did get one on my chin but I’m thinking from eating dairy for two days other than that nothing. You can deff tell the difference it feels light weight like nothings on your skin compared to the cerave. At first was a little drying I just have used it today and yesterday if I don’t have any break outs all week I will purchase another I’ll deff let you know ! And it’s deff way different than the big vani cream in the jar that one was very drying and broke me out !

I can't use anything with titanium dioxide on my face or I breakout.
I use the CeraVe cream instead of the lotion for a thicker more intensive night cream. Good review 👍

Make sure these are applied to very damp skin or the hyaluronic acid will draw moisturize out instead of holding it in.

I use the Vanicream one in this video and my sunscreen doesn't pill. I use the Cetaphil Sheer Mineral Face Liquid Sunscreen SPF 50.
I am currently using the Cereve moisturizer abd love it.
Also Vanicream is cruelty free and Cerave isn’t!

Rasha Sarandah I did get one on my chin but I’m thinking from eating dairy for two days other than that nothing. You can deff tell the difference it feels light weight like nothings on your skin compared to the cerave. At first was a little drying I just have used it today and yesterday if I don’t have any break outs all week I will purchase another I’ll deff let you know ! And it’s deff way different than the big vani cream in the jar that one was very drying and broke me out !
