- I repurposed an old cottonwood tree that burned in a fire and some old railroad spikes that were replaced to make a nice, simple coat rack. Enjoy!

What was the type of spray you applied to the wood and the spikes? some sort of clear coat? Looked like the same can for both materials.
Yes, it was a clear poly.
What size drill bit an tap did you use on the RR spikes.
+John Coonradt jr.5 Probably 1/4-20. That's a pretty standard bolt size I have in the shop. I can check tomorrow if you'd like.
+John Coonradt jr.5 Yeah, 1/4-20 and 13/64" drill bit.
I want yo know just what do you put un the back to hang that.
I believe I put it in one if the comments
I only have a jigsaw, can I cut those railroad nails with it?
+Cornelius Maximilianus With the right blade, yes it will.
ok cool thanks, i just bought bunch of nails off ebay and I was thinking how to shorten them.
+Cornelius Maximilianus Awesome. Good luck!
I know it's late but i just used an angle grinder and go slow. You can also use a drill bit, don't go all the way thru, and use epoxy, works great. I've made 5 and they're perfect.
