H/H match update: ... Our record-breaking mega-champion first matched Richard in the H/H, and then Brett, and then Richard again, and then Fannie, and now she chooses Richard once more. (If she wins this time, it will be her last, as we just learned from Gene that CBS has a rule limiting any one contestant to $25,000 in total winnings.) And now Richard has played 20 of the past 24 H/H matches. (Brett played two, and Betty and Fannie one each.) Today's question: "Roman ________" Numeral was my immediate thought. Richard considered for a bit, then wrote an answer that appeared to be several letters long. The champion matched my response, but her voice carried more than a hint of doubt. The audience seemed mixed. Some ohs and scattered applause. Richard mentioned Roman numeral and Roman Holiday before revealing his Roman Empire. This was the first time our champion has failed to match a celeb in the H/H match, so I doubt she's be terribly disappointed or upset. And I guess we shouldn't be too surprised, since the following episode's video mentions the champ's name in its title along with the outcome of the next game - had she won this H/H match and maxed out at $25,000, she wouldn't have been playing again... Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 46.9% (15 wins in 32 attempts). Charles - 45.2% (19 wins in 42 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Brett - 39.6% (19 wins in 48 attempts). Richard - 39.2% (122 wins in 311 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 564, excluding the lost/missing episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
Francis died at the age of 93 on May 31, 2001, in San Francisco, California, from Alzheimer's disease and cancer. She was interred in Roosevelt Memorial Park in Trevose, Pennsylvania.
I keep forgetting to ask: I am supposing that the contestants that live in LA county only needed to go home to change. But what about those that are just visiting? Did they really bring a week's worth of clothes, or did the staff take them shopping?
The shows were usually taped Saturday and Sunday.A week's worth of "network" shows (5) were actually taped in a day, as well as one episode of MG PM. Gene R, the panel and contestants all changed clothes between shows. The breaks between shows were short-except for the infamous "dinner break" where certain celebs often came back showing they'd done more than eat. For this reason the shows that originally aired Thursday and Friday (being the last shows shot that day) were often more "lively".
Yes. She has dyslexia but overcame it to become a bestselling author of several beautiful novels I would suggest that if you like to read you should or must pick any of her novels and dive in I can assure you that you will get them all they are beautiful and frankly nearly beyond anything that I can describe I love her to death and I bet you will too I give them for gifts as well she has written since the early 1980’s
I loved Fannie! Why am I so disappointed that Fannie wasn't attracted to men? It's not like I would have had a shot even if she was straight, and this was 1975, and I lived next door to the studio, and ...

Phil Adams probably the equivalent of 200,000 in today’s money you could have bought a very nice house for that then , which would sell for that or more now in 2018 in the Midwest and that same house in California would be over 2 million now easily So it’s Quite generous actually
Okay, so some CBS bean-counter got all nervous. But what's the difference between one contestant winning $30,000 dollars, or six different contestants winning $5000 each? I'll tell you the difference; ratings! People love a hot streak, just ask Ken Jennings. Penny wise and pound foolish, in my opinion.
Of course as always Dickie Dawson screws up during a Head-to-Head. Whoever picks Dickie Dawson deserves to LOSE and that she did. Could have been a new record if only the contestant picked someone else other than Dickie.
i think youre an incredibly sad person, commenting on nearly every episode with this unfounded laughable vitriol against Richard Dawson. its not flattering, its not endearing, and i dont know anyone who ever agrees with your miserable opinions.
"We'll find out if Carol goes all the way." Gene was so funny.
What a great show! Nothing like this on tv today.
Thank you for posting these!
Love Arlene's comment: "Good Pluck"
Funny.
Nice shout-out to Dorothy Jo for Richard tribute to Bob Barker!
4 of my faves! Brett, Charles, Richard, and Fannie 🤩
Well, 3 out of 4 ain't bad. 😂
To be fair $25,000 back then would be worth around $120,000 today!

Charles, what with the pipe, the cloth cap, the big square glasses, the toupee, he must’ve had a coolness bypass.
Which just goes to show how shallow and pointless trying to be cool is. Charles's personality was waaay cool.
CNR was super cool!! You kiddin' me?
At 0:14, was Fannie trying to say "Hello Idaho"?
Yes. Fannie was never a good speller.

Yeah 25K back then would be worth about 120K now
In 1975 that was a lot of money. You could get a decent car in the $2,000's back then.
