The syndicated version was at CBS. KHJ had this syndication show. Gene Rayburn was a good host, before he died in 1999. The year that I met Tiffany. The violinist who caught my eye. I remember this game show.
I used to watch Buzzr, but their library of shows is so small, they just keep re-running the same shows over and over. I finally got bored and quit watching.
I never watched this show back then, i believe it was a daytime show and i had to work, but i am enjoying them now and its like being on today, but then i realized that most, if not all of the celebs are gone.
300 300 most performers may be given notes or guidelines about being happy or be enthusiastic. I'm sure he may have been told to give allot of energy during the show which Gene didn't have allot of trouble doing. later in the syndicated series it does become noticble that his energy is less and less.
I know I'm living in the past, but if CBS had a brain at that time, they could've brought this show back to replace M*A*S*H* reruns instead of airing ONE DAY AT A TIME reruns. It ran 3 more years in syndication, who knows how long it could've lasted on CBS.
Which came first, Match Game PM or Match Game syndicated? I looked on Google and it looked to me like Match Game PM came first, but then I skipped to the end of THIS episode and it had the wheel on it, so now I don't know. I WANTED to watch them in order, but....
PM came first, This replaced it, but aired in similar time slots to the CBS daytime showings. To many people this was really Match Game 79 (or 80) (since it plays the 2 round format and PM had gone to 3 by the time it ended)
@@PREGO1966 It didn't replace it at all, PM still ran concurrently with it for 2 years, before it was cancelled, leaving this as the only version left for its' final year on air.
Match Game PM began in syndication in 1975 and ran simultaneously with the CBS run (75, 76, etc) until 1979. Both versions technically ended. This version though it officially replaced PM, was actually the continuation of the CBS run (even though it was syndicated) so technically it was "Match Game 79, 80, etc". Also PM had gone to a 3 round no straddling format, this version like the CBS "year number" format did straddle except on Fridays, so they could start a new week with new players and new celebs.
The show straddled like the network run except on Fridays, so they could bring in 2 new contestants with the new celebs every week. In many ways this was an extension of the daytime show even though it technically replaced "PM"
wilson blauheuer Bart Braverman is still around. Fannie Flagg, Brett Summers, Charles Nelson Reilly, Richard Dawson and Marcia Wallace are no longer with us.

Loved Richard Dawson on this show. RIP
Yes I really really miss him.

"I got two children and one husband"--classic!
I have this on VHS myself. Or did. :) Haven't seen this in years. Thanks
Johnny Olson was a splendid announcer, in the early 1980s.
He goes back to the late 50s early 60s
Ok.
You can watch this show plus several others on Buzzr t.v. channel and you don't even need cable.
I used to watch Buzzr, but their library of shows is so small, they just keep re-running the same shows over and over. I finally got bored and quit watching.
This is because they don't have the $$ major stations have, however, I found Decades TV, COZI TV, RETRO TV and Antenna TV.
Gene Rayburn was a good host. He is sorely missed now. He died, before I met Tiffany. That was in 1999.
I haven’t met Tiffany
The Syd version was very different my grandmother tried out but wasn't chosen!
You're thinking of Match Game PM. The daily syndicated Match Game had carried over contestants and straddled games.
Gene Rayburn hosted this program, along with "Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour", and "Break the Bank".
I never watched this show back then, i believe it was a daytime show and i had to work, but i am enjoying them now and its like being on today, but then i realized that most, if not all of the celebs are gone.
Fannie is the only one alive on this panel
both these players ate really good at this game. better than me. i said ravioli!
That "Match Game" set, is in New York now.
Gene Rayburn being extra happy during this version was something that the producers probably forced him to do to try to keep the show alive.

Hi
thanks for opening your vault!

AND .... great quality nice job
September 10, 1979
After Brett said "I think I'm pregnant" the next should have said "I think I'm the father!" 16:33
Same old fill-in-the-blank questions.
this premiered on the 1st week of September of 1979
Andre Brown it premiered on September 10 1979
Match Game should come back.
Michael Bowie wont be good
Michael Bowie it's back on your local ABC check your local listings
still not good
It's back and it's horrible. All those hams trying to act funny, they have no class, those women have no self respect...
old one was a free for all. too much PC today to let it be funny.
Also, on the daily syndicated MG each player played two games, then they were done. That's why the defeated player was brought back.
Open-air lunatic asylum?
I believe George Bernard Shaw actually said that, and Gene Rayburn repeated his famous saying.

PM premiered in the Fall of 1975, and the syndicated MG premiered in the Fall of '79, shortly after the cancellation of the CBS version.

@@ajk well with both being syndicated, some cities may have dropped PM
@@PREGO1966 Touche, good point. They well could have. Especially considering it was daily and PM was not.
KLAS-TV Channel 8 Las Vegas Nevada Aired
3 Versions Of Match Game
They reduced the area on the wheel that doubled the score.
That’s for budget reasons.
Mmmm..Patty Olson!
How is she not a famous model? Just gorgeous!
Gene Rayburn almost fell, in the clip.
is it me or was there realy something wrong with this version of the show witch i do recall
This is the same show that originally premiered in 1973, I do not understand the question
I have to agree with "grievousangel09" Patty Olson, YES!
KHJ had this in syndication.
Yes, good old channel 9 in LA. I don't think it's called KHJ anymore is it?
@@oldiesgeek454 It's KCAL-TV, Channel 9 now. That station and KCBS-TV, Channel 2 in Los Angeles, California are under the same ownership.
@@unknown-kh7dg Thanks. 😊

An orangutan is not a gorilla.
What year did Match Game go into syndication?
+Jeff A Yep. I grew up, watching game shows.
1979
it depends on what version you are talking about jokerswildfan1972 because pm went in 1975 but this one in 1979 so there is a minor difference

ugh. i said ravioli
WCBS NYC aired this from 1979-1981 and WOR-TV NYC from 1981-82.This version is lame compared to the CBS version.
This episode must be from September 10th, 1979.
Imamonarchist how if this is the premiere episode?
Snail Princess b/c that is when the syndicated version premiered according to Wikipedia.
Seems as though Gene was the real director on the show.
He thought he was, he thought he knew everything.
