This was great. Tattletales was Bert's show, but every once in a while, Bert and Ann played as celebrity contestants as a different iconic host took over.
Gene Wood was the announcer--he had also worked with the late Jack Narz on "Best the Clock"--he hosted a game show in Canada called "Anything You Can Do" in the 1970's
It would be interesting if they brought this show back today. But they would have to find a host who knew as many people in Hollywood as Bert Convy did and have the same likable personality, and that would be hard to find. Plus they would need to have a comedians' quick wit. Martin Short or Jim Carey would have been great at this, if they were younger. WRZ 2020-07-28
Dorothy Jo Barker called her husband Bob by his last name only , Barker . This reminds me of the old radio show Fibber McGee And Molly where the wife would always address her husband as McGee . Also the old TV show The Life Of Riley where wife Peg would always address her husband as Riley . No first names , please .
I forgot on the old TV show Mr Ed the neighbors wife would call her husband by his last name Addison . When she would attempt to butter him up for some reason she would call him Doll. On the same show with the second neighbors in place the wife would address the husband by his military rank --- Colonel. not even any name .
I'd certainly like to see this show nowadays. Definitely be better than another remake of newlywed game. Which keeps getting brought back but they never change the format. At least if they brought back this show today it would introduce people to a very good yet underrated game show. It always gets overlooked by other game shows of its era. TPIR, Match Game, etc.
Never really watched Newlywed remakes. I remember original as kid. Saw some original on UA-cam recently. It's a lot of s3xual talk and not entertaining. We didn't have a lot of choices in 70s. If we did can't imagine watching Newlywed show

In Carol Ford's book "Bob Crane the Definitive Biography" the story goes that Bob Crane had been offered the hosting role for "Family Feud" but turned it down as he aspired to being the next "Johnny Carson"--he did recommend Richard Dawson who got the job
+George Master There was actually a pilot that Dawson taped in 1988 intended for NBC, a revival of "You Bet Your Life", a show originally hosted by Groucho Marx in the 50s. This version didn't sell. I believe it's on UA-cam somewhere.

At 8:20 the question posed in which they asked producer Mark Goodson about the attributes to be a good game host and he gave four attributes . I would give all four to a young Bob Barker , a young Johnny Carson . 123 to Garry Moore , 13 to Groucho , 23 to Mr John Daly , 23 to Bill Cullen, 1234 to a young Bob Eubanks. A more recent host the avulcalar Alex Trebek when he was young back in the 1970s 234 . When Mr Trebek was chosen with a group of other game show hosts at that time by a female NBC-TV VP she did it with an eye towards definite sex appeal . Attributes 2 and 3 is a must . While 1 and 4 are icing on the cake .
Having the studio audience receive money was the only stupid part of this show. They should have allowed the 3 couples to choose a charity to donate their winnings to. WRZ 2020-07-28
The audience probably wouldn't have been as excited if the winnings had gone to charity and studio audience reactions were part of what made Tattletales successful.
Love this episode. May God Bless Richard Dawson (1932-2012)
This shows how versatile of a host that Richard Dawson was (R.I.P.)

When Dawson saw that man with the 🎤 his look was priceless. There will never be another Richard Dawson.
He was very open minded and big hearted. 🥰💙🐾
Dawson loved every second of it!!
Kissing the guy.
I love this show & I also love Richard Dawson.
Thank you for uploading pre 1980 Tattletales, one of my favorite TV shows ever:
That Richard Dawson would make a great game show host!
This was a great week of guest hosts. Richard Dawson hosts Tattletales so smooth!
Just 3 GOAT's on the same stage makes this episode epic on it's own.
R.I.P. Richard Dawson, Bert Convy, Jack Narz, and Gene Wood.

Bert so shy that's even makes him more charming
Seeing Dawson with a mic is rare being he had a tie clip mic doing Feud and a mic on Match Game's set on the counters where the celebs sit.

No one born after 1970 will have a chance of getting that one.
I got it.
What does it mean?
On this November 18, 1976 episode of Tattletales, Richard Dawson serves as guest host.
Nice job Richard dawson for hosting tattletales
Would've been funny if they blasted the family feud theme (it premiered only a few months prior to this episode)
Dawson,Barker and Convey on the same stage!!!! Only one missing is Dick Clark IMHO.
Loved watching these shows as a kid!!!!

I love those kooky coconut-shell headphones.
R.I.P Bert Bob Jack and Richard

Bob and Jack to Richard: "Dick has all the luck." Someone must have noted the pun.
