    Pokemon's system and gameplay doesn't allow for as much freedom, creativity or uniqueness as prople think. When you play other monster collectors, you start noticing developers take alot of measures to allow players and monsters to reach more mesningful heights. I have played Pokemon since Red and Blue and it annoys me how so many monsters I enjoy are terrible. It's a big reason why I praise Yo-Kai Watch 3 so much for having so much greater sense of game balance and creativity. Some Pokemon fans are somehow convinced Pokemon has to sacrifice casual content and gameplay to make competituve aspects better. Why do they think that when games like Yo-Kai Watch 3 prove that is just not the case?

      I agree with this but only to an extent. While many smogon tiers tend to get dominated by a handful of pokemon, they are not a requirement to win. Non-meta pokemon have been consistently used in smogon tournaments and there seems to be some flexibility to team building as long as you aren’t shooting yourself in the foot all the way to the point where you can use base form pokemon with FEAR sets. You have to realize that once you have over 1000 pokemon, some are invite to going to become obsolete but by no means is it impossible to use a majority of them comoetively. VGC is fucked though and requires strict adherence to the meta.

      Pokemon's system and gameplay _does_ allow for creativity and uniqueness. It's just that Game Freak doesn't bother to update older mons (or weaker newer mons, such as Oinkologne) with enough care so that they can keep up in the meta that _they_ are pushing. If you look at some revamp ROMhacks that aspire to make every single Pokemon usable, then you'll notice that most of them get at least very close to that goal even with 500+ - 1,000 mons to account for.
      Pokemon's balance is held back almost entirely by Game Freak. Yeah, having Pidgeot, Fearow, Dodrio, Noctowl, Swellow, Staraptor, and all the other Normal/Flyings exist in the same pool while all having their own niches can be a herculean task to accomplish, but, again, ROMhacks have done it before. Game Freak doesn't even try, with the last attempt at that group being the Gen 7 Dodrio buffs almost 8 years ago (which was a 10 base Speed boost and a prayer to God).
      And it's not like it's hard. I've dabbled a bit into the Pokemon games' coding in my off time before, and it is _so_ easy to change a Pokemon's movepool and stats, and it is lowkey easy to add even completely new Abilities that perform unique tasks. Sticking to the group mentioned above: Having Dodrio attack three times at 50% power each? Done. Adding Super Luck's crit boost into Sniper to double down on Fearow being the crit bird (and making Drill Peck a high crit ratio move, because Drill Run is)? Done. Making Big Pecks into a defensive Ability that boosts Defense by 20% so Pidgeot and Unfezant can perform defensive/support roles more efficiently? Done. I also made Keen Eye into a flat +20% accuracy boost just in case you want to spam Hurricanes on Pidgeot.
      All on primitive Gen 4 code that I worked on and off on over a month (my scope was buffing mons in National Dex order, so it wasn't just the birds). Now imagine if Game Freak hired a dedicated balance team of 4 - 5 that worked at least part-time on diving into modern day Pokemon coding and buffing underperforming mons (which they have clear data on via VGC and online ranked ladder play).

    I'm shocked you picked Liepard when Liepard was actually meta defining in Anything Goes National Dex for a second because of Assist + Revival Blessing + Smogon going "IDK i think it works".
    Zebstrika seems like the better pick imo, it's the electric Flareon in a sense. Good physical stats, no physical moves.

    If you are a casual (non-conpetitive) fan who likes Ledian's design and is interested in trying to use one during a playthrough, then play a Gen II game.
    It gets access to Ice and Thunder Punch, which allows for SpAtk coverage. It also has decent speed, which allows it to set up a Light Screen or Reflect immediately.
    It's a weaker pokemon, but it can be used throughout the entire game with the right strategy.

    Flareon was kinda usable in OU during SHSW when player only had access to the nationnal dex. It was an ok special wall.
    Liepard is a terrible choice for this video. Because of Prankster + Assist, Liepard tend to find annoying set all the time. Nat gen AG was taken out mostly because of the strategy know as revive cat that use revival blessing as the only move you can call. You can object that it wasn't replicable in the game since it's ND but it is also the reason that make gf change how assist work in gen VI since it was able to call dive/bounce/etc and Roar/Whirwind move at the time. And Liepard could abuse priority Roar or could use Lagging tail + Dive to become really hard to hit. It wasn't some meta defining set, but it was annoying enough. Prankster + assist was banned from gen 5 NU early and Assist was banned from gen 5 OU some years ago.

    Okay, I HAVE to disagree with Flareon being bad in Gen 1. I have used it several times and despite being on the slow side it can pack a wallop with Double-Edge and you can teach it Fire Blast for fire STAB. Flareon got way worse going into Gen 2 all the way up until it EVENTUALLY got Flare Blitz, so saying it's bad from Gen 1 is honestly just misinformed... Worth noting that Ledian only gets Barrier in Gen 2 as an event Pokemon, so I'm sure you mean Reflect here instead. Masquerain did get a boost to 100 Sp.Att in Gen 7, but it still remains unviable sadly... Also, again, Flower Gift raises Attack and Sp.Def, not Sp.Att 😅 I get Pokemon is a very new venture for your channel, but please do your research more, it's really not difficult to fact check this stuff...

      Flareon is not considered viable by any serious Gen 1 player in any tier. It is ZU (meaning it is not viable in any official tier) and even down there it is not a prevalent Pokémon. Flareon is in contention for the worst fully evolved Fire Type in a gen where the Fire Type is extremely mediocre, lmao

    • @Dankey490
      @Dankey490 Місяць тому +1

      Matter of fact it's not even up for contention, every other fully evolved Gen 1 fire type is in a higher tier than Flareon, meanwhile down in ZU Flareon faces stiff competition from... Ponyta, not even Rapidash, just regular, non evolved Ponyta

    • @crystalkirby
      @crystalkirby Місяць тому

      @@Dankey490 More in a PvE sense than a PvP one, is what I was meaning. Fire types are horrible in Gen 1, with only Ninetales, Rapidash, and best of all Moltres having a niche of Fire Spin trapping, but that's a gimmick. I don't doubt Flareon is so bad it loses to Ponyta, but it is at least better in Gen 1 than anywhere else till Flare Blitz (Which doesn't fix the problem but it's *something*)

    • @arturocabrera237
      @arturocabrera237 Місяць тому +3

      @@crystalkirbyits pretty obvious he's looking at these pokemon from a PvP perspective, no point in bringing up how it does in a normal playthrough. And there was no reason to be rude on simple mistakes in the video.

    The way you speak kinda feels like rambling. I feel like you need to slow a little at least between sentences. There's 0 breaks to take in anything you said before you move to a new thing 😭. Maybe it's just me but it does feel like you're rambling.
