Honestly, I don’t really see the point in that change, especially given how simple egg moves have become in SV. Idk, I guess I just think good movesets should require some work.
@@ijstinson8787 Well, yes, but if you get attached to a Pokemon and want to give it the best possible moveset, it's bad not to be able to do so because it wasn't bred that way at the time, or if you make a mistake by forgetting to do that you have to do everything from scratch to correct it (imagine if it's even a shiny and you can't use it anymore)
@Delta_064 have you ever heard of the mirror herb? It’s a held item introduced in SV that allows you to teach a Pokemon it’s egg moves. All you need to do is have the Pokemon hold it while also having an empty move slot, have another party member already know the intended egg move, and set up a picnic. It’s not even post game. It’s available at the Delibird Presents shop in Cascarrafa. Of course, there’s no answer for older games, but why insist on buffs for those.
@ also, you can still have your Pokemon relearn its egg moves via the move relearner, but that’s if it was born with it. The point being, there’s no longer a speciality to egg moves like there was in previous titles.
Personally I think focusing too much on reaching that 500 BST threshold is doing way too much for these Pokémon that it completely changes how they’re played. We have had Pokémon be good in VGC with a lower BST (Clefairy, Prinplup, Pikachu, Charjabug, Vivillon, Illumise/Volbeat, Qwilfish, Araquanid, even amoongus only has 464 BST). I think in general the route for improving Pokémon should be focusing on what moves they lack and thresholds they need to reach. Example: Prinplup is one of the best bulky water type support options for trick room teams as it is as slow as Ursaluna and has options like Helping Hand, Yawn, Roost, Pledge combos, and competitive, giving it a unique niche as one of the better trick room water types. As for Sandslash thing is that it already has the coverage and moves it wants, the issue is that it’s stuck in formats where it can never get a chance to shine. While fake out would be nice on it, it’s rarely going to use it as it’d rather have protect + 3 offensive coverage attacks as its job is to be a snow sweeper. The most it will do is give Ninetales a much safer lead as it would have the fastest fake out in snow, but fake out isn’t as helpful as you’re only going to be reliably outspeed Incineroar in terms of fake out priority. Rillaboom can outspeed outside of snow depending on set, and Sneasler can outspeed you regardless if unburden is active. Honestly if anyone deserves fake out it’s Raticate, it has more reason to use it as it has great utility in super fang allowing it to poke holes into sturdy Pokémon and has options like taunt, snarl, quash, icy wind, switcheroo, and knock off. What it lacks is any form of turn priority, fake out gives it a niche as a bulky support Pokémon that can’t be taunted/disrupted by prankster Pokémon. If it had a set like Fake Out, Super Fang/Taunt, Protect, Knock Off, it’d actually be pretty good into psychic and ghost type heavy metagames. If you replace Thick Fat for something like Intimidate then its bulk isn’t actually all that bad.
Id give A Exeggutor Stored Power. In harsh sunlight it could use boosted Growths to get +2 in both offenses and boost stored power by 80 BP in one turn. Combined with Chlorophyl it would make an amazing sun sweeper. Also because it is a mixed attacker it could use both boosts from Growth. It could use Draco meteor and then switch to physical attacks to avoid the punishment of the special drop
I know this is VGC oriented video… but as an Alolan Golem fan myself I think we can go further… Alolan Golem has a perfect speed stat for singles It has a REALLY TINY BUT POWERFUL NICHE By being a Magnet Pull Pokémon that can one hit KO Heatran with Earthquake If you use a scarf and max speed it always out speeds Heatran unless it has a scarf itself It has the physical bulk to take on even Mega Mawile’s powerful sucker Punch and Ko it back with EQ Same with Magearna It packs Fire Punch for Ferrothorn and Kartana And Hit Hard on Celesteela Who can be forced out if it’s locked on the wrong move It can even take the Normalium Z Giga Impact variant So in order to match the buff that it gets with Galvanize Fake Out Let’s give it a different niche By being able to trap and kill Goldengo With enough special defense and the asault vest it can take one powerful Goldengo Make it Rain And KO it back with EQ Let’s give it back Rapid Spin Kantonian Golem had Rapid Spin in the past Let’s give it back the hazard clearing move This makes it so you can have Galvanize Golem to have powerful Galvanize Set alongside Magnet Pull Your opponent doesn’t know on the preview Wich one of them is So it needs to walk on eggshells otherwise it will be surprised by the wrong variant Let’s make a mental scenario You have a Goldengo on the field And Alolan Golen gets into the field with a U-turn Now what? Raticate - I would give it an ability that severely poisons upon enter battle and leaving its stats alone. Kinda like how rats carried the black plague among other despises.
I'd never really but thought about it before, but nothing in the ability name Surge Surfer suggests what kind of terrain it should be boosted by and as a dual type there is no reason why one terrain should be prioritized over the other.
I might be biased since alolan ninetales is my favorite pokemon but I would love to see it (and by extension kantonian ninetales) get a buff to its special attack. It already has good speed (and bulk under snow/veil), but with base 80ish special attack it struggles to hit very hard even with a choice specs. If it had base 95 or 100 special attack, it would have more item variety and would really get to abuse blizzard for more than just chip and freeze chances. I also think they need to implement frostbite from legends Arceus and give ice types like A9 a frostbite version of will-o-wisp. That would be neat.
i think golem could be a fantastic trick room sweeper, for buffs id keep where its at (maybe redistribution into hp, cut defense or speed for a higher hp stat and add a tad bit to attack maybe a 40 spd with 100 hp and 120 defense or a 90 hp with 130 attack and 120 d). For galvanize movesets i think having fake out would be insane, although idk how canon that is with its lil ole arms. but id also tweek galvanize to be a built in magnet and raise elec moves power by 20% instead of just normal moves. Basically the idea is making it a stronger, frailer iron hands But having no guard as an ability is quite a good buff bc all the inaccurate rock moves go brrrr But a more unique approach would be to simply switch spatk and atk to make it a spatker, and then give it access to hyper voice. So now u have a meteor beam, elec hyper voice spamming TR sweeper (still give it fake out tho, would be funny)
I would just make Surge surfer work in all terrains, that way it can be used in all teams. Grass knot is still decent though having Energy Ball would be better, AR has Play Rough but since it's a special attacker it only has draining kiss so a move like noonblast would make it more potent with that boosted special attack that you gave it.
It can't even guarantee one shot abomasnow with just snow and max hp if you're +6 Adamant max atk with a guts boost (just default calc mon I'm aware abomasnow needs scarf to even outspeed) and doubles also has a lot of redirection and priority that'd pose issues because it's viable moves are all single target. Theres also a lot of top tiers that block priority all together! Still objectively really strong but 88 attack with bulk that's passable but not overbearing won't carry it to being a staple it's looking like it'd be strong in early dex (think regulation A) but not dominant, and then niche in the full dex formats like Regulation F
I have a great idea to improve competative battles. Pick two, random lock in the remainig 4 spots. This could be an official online competative format for regional tournaments. Give the meta reliants the task of proving their skill by using nearly every mon possible.
the total is wrong there but those add up to 445 I pinky swear (80HP + 90ATK = 170, then add 170 + 110DEF for 280, 280 + 50 SPA for 330, 330 + 90SPDEF for 420, and 420 + 25SPE for 445)!
didnt wanna sandwich it in too closely with the eevee vid and legend signature moves in an effort to give a bit of breathe for the topic, plus itll take a lot more thought to make that work out so i gotta think on it more
@ idk how but i could be of assistance because ive been theory craft these spreads for awhile and actually have some countermeasures and also some archetypes that some fall in. For the 200 offensive stat regis (fighting and psychic only since its basically the go too) the abilities can either have a normalize effect so they cannot have any coverage at all and this will be pre buff normalize so no 20% buff or else even quad res mons will still die or have a defeatist copy where under a certain threshold they will half their respective atk stat. For archetypes i have a few here such as the water type having either 200 hp and 100 in both defenses or 150 hp 150 spd where the entire moveset is about recovering hp and slowly draining the opponent. I do want some evil regis so the flying type could have an ability that automatically sets tailwind on switch in. But the rules are pretty simple, hyper offensive regis must have full counter like an immunity or lack of coverage. The defensive regis can definitely do more and i only have half fully realized with a secondary statline if the first is ridiculous. But making these with obvious counters is actually pretty fun. I might have to introduce a 3rd stat spread which involves triple 120s if things repeat too much or i find that some things just dont line up right.
I thought ditto was too weak so i gave it 150 points in attack, huge power and judgement. Hopefully this will make it more viable But seriously why the hell did you give Lunala's ability to A marrowack
We've seen some distribution of legendary pokemons moves and abilities in the past, and while I could easily just give it mold breaker shadow shield naming wise fits better for marowak. Things like Drought/Drizzle were legendary only at the start for example until gen 5 added Drizzle to Politoed and Drought to Ninetales; and while it doesn't happen as often these days even if i gave it Multiscale (which offers a lot of benefit to allow its bulkier sets to get Trick Room up easily and then wallbreak), the only difference is Shadow Shield ignores Mold Breaker so it'd at worst start losing to Excadrill a bit more.

I know this is VGC oriented video… but as an Alolan Golem fan myself
I think we can go further…
Alolan Golem has a perfect speed stat for singles
It has a REALLY TINY BUT POWERFUL NICHE
By being a Magnet Pull Pokémon that can one hit KO Heatran with Earthquake
If you use a scarf and max speed it always out speeds Heatran unless it has a scarf itself
It has the physical bulk to take on even Mega Mawile’s powerful sucker Punch and Ko it back with EQ
Same with Magearna
It packs Fire Punch for Ferrothorn and Kartana
And Hit Hard on Celesteela
Who can be forced out if it’s locked on the wrong move
It can even take the Normalium Z Giga Impact variant
So in order to match the buff that it gets with Galvanize Fake Out
Let’s give it a different niche
By being able to trap and kill Goldengo
With enough special defense and the asault vest it can take one powerful Goldengo Make it Rain
And KO it back with EQ
Let’s give it back Rapid Spin
Kantonian Golem had Rapid Spin in the past
Let’s give it back the hazard clearing move
This makes it so you can have Galvanize Golem to have powerful Galvanize Set alongside Magnet Pull
Your opponent doesn’t know on the preview Wich one of them is
So it needs to walk on eggshells otherwise it will be surprised by the wrong variant
Let’s make a mental scenario
You have a Goldengo on the field
And Alolan Golen gets into the field with a U-turn
Now what? If it’s Magnet Pull you can’t Switch
And if it’s Galvamize it can probably take on a Make it Rain
If you are locked in Shadow Ball it’s even worst
Assuming we are on Nat Dex you can Tera Ghost to probably KO it
But Tyranitar can Switch and Ko with Purssuit
I even if you are Balloon 🎈 best case scenario you Ko Golem after loosing your ballon and now Goldengo is open for another Ground type move
Golem can only have its rapid spin blocked by Ground Types
Who any ways scare A-Golem Out
So it can be a pretty good niche I’m pretty sure
I can even see Air Balloon A-Golem just so it can rapid spin against non ground type Earthquake users
Or even a Ursaluna that already used it’s Tera and can no longer Block Rapid Spin
Can't trap gholdengo unless it goes for Tera steel because ghosts can't be trapped but this could be a pretty fire route for alola golem ngl
I love Alolan Raichu! Make him better than Miraidon!
Make him have hadron engine soul heart and surge surfer
