Great content Eileen, this is the type of videos I want to see on UA-cam not endless unboxing of luxury bags.. that is exactly why I wait for your videos, life is all about mindful spending. I have never bought anything on credit card. My biggest mistake would be buying the Gucci instead of the Chanel bag before the price increased. Now I have to save up extra $3,500 to get the Chanel bag
Love that you made the distinction between buying on credit and buying on a credit card. If you're buying an item for thousands of dollars, it's important to get those cash rewards!
Eileen, you are so sweet and I enjoy your videos so much! It is so refreshing to see someone who is wealthy but very humble and sets boundaries. I have a mindful luxury wishlist and am waiting patiently for that day to come! Keep up the great work!
Great advice! I’ve gotten caught in the “not returnable” trap. I couldn’t believe it! The other rule I have is that if I purchase a bag, I must give an older one to charity.
Agree w all your points! I still think window shopping is v relaxing without having to buy anything 😊 I think of it as taking a walk in a aesthetic environment lol
I really enjoy your videos. They are very disciplined and informative when shopping for luxury items. I find that I can make smart purchases with the debt and resentment.
Hi Eileen. This is so true especially settling for less! In my case with the Chanel classic flap, my first major purchase that i ending up buying anyway after some cheaper ones getting restless ha ha. Nice video again Eileen, thanks! Love
Settling for less hits home and my first luxury mistake. I was eyeing a speedy 30 bandoulier in damier ebene but a speedy 40 (not bandoulier) was sold at a great price. I bought it. It was too big for me and I couldn't go hands free. Tried to make it work to the point that I bought a bag shaper especially made for it, which costs extra. In the end, I sold it for a loss together with the bag shaper. Never again.
Found out about your channel recently and I love it! There’s this pervasive notion that luxury is all about excess. Not just in price but also in number. I disagree on that because I always see luxury as an investment. One luxury bag with a good quality and craftsmanship can last me for many years that I can also pass on to my children... compared to buying cheap bags from fast fashion that would break easily. Like you, I also believe that I should not buy all the bags I like. I used to dream about having a large collection. Years later, here I am only aiming to keep my collection at 10 bags. I especially agree with 4 and 9. Both for the instances of chanel. For (4), I almost settled for a YSL bag but I decided to hold on to my money and save more, knowing that what I really want is a chanel mini. For number (9), it’s me getting absorbed to chanel’s recent collection. I was so close to spending my saved money to get a seasonal in-demand caramel chanel bag when my shopping budget for the first half of the year is only for a Dior bag that I was eyeing for more than a year now (which I bought). Good thing I got into my senses and my savings are still safe.
Wow these are so true! I knew a bunch of these, but I also picked up a few more tips. Thanks for making this video. I constantly have to remind myself not to buy just because of a sale! The satisfaction is so much more when I get something that I actually want and save for it.
Great video Eileen👍🏼even though I watch a lot of UA-cam videos and I’m in the lux community, I always remind myself that everyone is different and I should stick to my budget and not overspend ☺️
I have settled in the past and that is a big mistake because it will end up costing more in the end because I will still want the original item. I am saving for a YSL woc and I have been tempted to settle but your video reminded me not to. The last thing I need is more clutter. I stopped shopping with girlfriends because they used to encourage me to do impulse buying. If I need something I will just go by myself and I will avoid browsing. They used to talk me into buying things I would not have bought if I was alone. 💜💕
Sometimes I would settled for less and similar looking bag to see if I’d love the bag and also, looking at the cost per wear. Once it looks worn out, I’d ask myself if I’m going to wear it again and if yes, then I’ll splurge for the designer.
Eileen - I just recently got into your channel and I love it! You have such a grounded approach to luxury purchases. I would love to see a video on how you go about accessorizing your outfits--you always look so put together and chic!
Thanks for video, Eileen. I do think some lessons need to be learned personally. I totally agree with you now but my 20-year-old self probably wouldn't:)
Very good advice! Especially the suggestion to not purchase just because it’s a special occasion. Also staying focused on what you want in your heart and not compromise for some other purchase. Thanks. Agree, don’t make shopping a hobby. It’s been hard for me during COVID when there’s not much to do. Fortunately I’ve been mostly looking online, but that can also be a big time suck. Thanks for this good advice. 😊
You've a video talked about similar topic, but I still enjoy watching this video. Very detailed and positive. I really happy to have someone always remind me how to spend money wisely. Thanks Eileen.
Hi Eileen 🤗 I really love watching your videos and thank you for all the advise u give 😊 it makes total sense! I’m in my early 20s and have just entered the working world, I tend to do impulse shopping when feeling stressed because it makes me ‘feel better’ 🙃 I’m so gonna force myself to kick this bad habit 💪🏼
You're so welcome! I'm really glad you found my videos helpful. You're at such a good place to learn about mindful spending. I wish I knew better in my 20s xx
I’m really thankful for your video Eileen! Makes me think twice on the luxury items I’m intending to buy as I’m quite impatient and often gets pressured to settling for less 😅
Colourful Noir I sold most of my handbags over the last year and I kept five. I made categories for bags for different occasions and purchased only bags I actually needed and would actually use. I only need one more bag (a backpack) to finish my collection. I decided to do the same with my slg’s and promised myself another larger LV agenda once I had finished my course of study. Then I decided to buy some Kikki planners in the meantime. I love Kikki K planners so much and the quality is so much better than LV. As a result I am no longer interested in buying an LV agenda. I just don’t want a mountain of goods. I want a collection of bags and slg’s that I use, enjoy and can maintain.

Colourful Noir right! And for what they charge, why should you chase? Prob why I will never own an hermes. Beautiful but I don’t see why I have to chase to spend all that money
I agree so much about settling for less. I am in an expensive doll hobby and I've met so many young starters settling for less and they end up disliking the doll they bought and the doll goes un-customized. They've even tried to sell their doll to me when they've just bought it. It's also the same with "keeping up with the Jones". Some artists on Instagram will popularize a sculpt with their great makeup skill and a lot of people will buy the same doll on impulse and realize it's not like the one the artist customized.
