  • Hi guys, I'm Eileen. In this video, I shared some of the things I avoid doing in luxury stores. I used to feel really uneasy when visiting a designer store. The first luxury store I went to was Louis Vuitton, and boy, I was so nervous! Fast forward to a decade later, and some shopping addictions, the setting now feels less intimidating. While I think we should all be ourselves when shopping in luxury stores, there are certain things I personally wouldn't do. I hope this video will help you have a great experience whether if you're shopping at Hermes, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, or Cartier xx

    Thank you or watching this video about things to not do in designer stores. Generally I've received really good customer service at luxury stores, apart from he time when I got shouted at in Harrods Chanel 😐. Hopefully this video will help you avoid some awkward situations. I'll also appreciate some tips on the things we shouldn't do in luxury stores xx

    I went into a TheRealReal like the physical store front not the online store (obviously) and it was kinda of wild. I had been doing something else on the block and kinda stumbled upon it. I wasn’t aware my city had one. I was dressed super casually (cut off sweatpants and a stained shirt and slides). I was still treated super well though. I felt no judgment surprisingly for my appearance. I even asked to touch a few bags including a 18,000 smooth leather Constance bag. I made it clear that it wasn’t in my price range but was still encouraged to ask to see more bags and even invited to come back. What it taught me is that these places aren’t as scary as we may think they are. I think the fear comes from internal pressure knowing the value of a dollar. I do believe that the owners of these brands would want their stores to be as inviting as possible. I’m not even sure entirely the point of my comment but I just wanted to share my experience. Oh and I’m a 6’2 360 black man and so I think it’s important to note that because I know I’m not seen as the target demographic for luxury goods especially handbags. So it’s a big deal that I felt so comfortable in the environment because if I can relax and enjoy myself I think you can too.

      I think since these luxury shops used to judge people by their appearance and were very wrong at times ..seems they have learned their lesson.. Remember when an actress in very torn up clothes was kicked out of one of those shops by her appearance only and she very well had the money.

    I’m glad that you are becoming YOU.......Meaning, you are finding the deeper happiness beyond the trinkets that we adorn ourselves with to sometimes to hide our emptiness inside. But greatest pleasure is that the world will never run out of ‘’newest trinkets’’ to help us celebrate our happiness within.
    I enjoy your thoughtful commentary because it shows your ‘’journey within’’ and in this journey within doesn’t allow anything materialistic but just your genuine happy self.

    Recently we were in Las Vegas, and for the first time ever, I went into Louis Vuitton. Until now, I have felt very intimidated! A few things struck out as different, when compared to Kate Spade, etc. Firstly, there was a queue and our names were taken and entered into a tablet. Even though there was only one or two people in the store, we were asked to wait up to 20 minutes. Upon entering the store, even though we were dressed like people who "belong", I felt quite uncomfortable. I like to pick up the items, as one does when buying things like handbags, I felt I was being closely watched. I didn't like that the prices were not readily visible, and we had to ask for the prices, which felt embarrassing. I've heard all of my life that if you have to ask, you cannot afford it. This is not the case for me, however. While I was chatting with the lady behind the counter, my husband walked to beside the counter and reached for a bag on the shelf, and I told him not to do that, because he might be yelled at! I remember in a recent video, you mentioned that had happened to you in a luxury store! All in all, I did not purchase anything from the store, even though I could afford it, and wanted to, because I found myself debating how to rationalize such an immense price, for something so seemingly frivolous! We had to walk past the Hermes store every day to get outside the hotel, and I didn't dare going in there, lol. Thank you for your insight and advice! Maybe one day I will get a LV bag!

    I love your bag collection and your style I have a very small wardrobe and small budget but I changed my buying habits. Some basics I buy them cheap but then I save and buy a better quality bag or other item like pants or a blazer.
    I used to buy a lot of cheap clothing now I buy way less I’m careful in laundry and invest in some key good quality pieces from medium range fashion stores like Massimo Dutti (and take advantage of sales where good prices can be found almost as Primark with much better quality). Thank You for your help.
    I never entered a Luxury shop we do have a tiny Hermes in Lisbon also LV and Gucci buy way out of my price range.
    I love Massimo Dutti because the quality is excellent and treasures can be found during sales. I find the staff a bit more pretentious comparing to fast fashion stores…

    My most fun experience I have shopping is always in Asia especially in Macau, Japan & South Korea. Compared to Europe & the USA, all the staff in all the shops I go to they are the best. My most recent was at Casa Loewe, Tokyo Japan (for the Spirited Away collection). Super friendly, the nicest people and they attend to me immediately whenever I visit, they remember my name too! They made sure no one had to wait. Is it the culture? I don't know but I know that I haven't shopped for any luxury brands in Europe & USA in years because I never felt like it when I enter the stores there. Ironically, their high brow, snobbish attitude actually helped me with minimalism so I am glad they indirectly helped me!

    I was in Louis Vuitton ones when a young lady walked in wearing a replica LV bag. No one said a word or reacted in any way but I did get a pleasure of watching others notice it throughout the store. Although replicas are not appreciated by many for their production practices; Authentic fashion houses are viewed the same way by others in their sales management & marketing practices. I Love "luxury" items but lately I'm having a very uncomfortable feeling about many of these houses and a wonder about others. It's not just some of the brand's employees for me but the fashion houses themselves that made me feel icky.🌼🏵🌼

    I went to Fendi and saw a wallet that I liked, it was the last one but it had a very small scratch on it. I didn’t even ask for a discount, just merely pointing it out. But the SA said they would give me a discount off the item since it was the last one! I was quite surprised!
    On another occasion, I went with my friend to Versace in Macau when we were holiday and he asked for a discount and the SA gave it to him, a further 10% off!

      @deborahcurtis1385 Рік тому +1

      True. But a real LV that's not been repaired by LV, they will refuse to do any further repairs, Some get caught out by this rule. Also with vintage LV they have used real solid brass but the more recent models are just gold toned not even solid brass. They will take your solid brass fittings and replace them with something inferior. I'm still thinking about what to do, I may just go to a third party who is highly regarded and get them to re-use. This reduces the value of the bag though. Never mind!

      To be honest, I’m quite aware of the many problems in the world and sometimes, I’m depressed by it all to a certain extent. However, me dwelling in these issues won’t help to solve them or make them go away. This platform is in a way a means for entertainment and relaxation. You must care about the world problems too, but you won’t stop yourself watching TV, having a nice coffee, buying some new clothes, or indulging in a glass of champagne occasionally, would you? Life has to go on somehow and some people just choose to express it differently, just my two cents.
