    I realised that there is no use in having different SLGs (example: different card holders from different luxury houses) practically you only need one that suits you. For me the mini pochette really suits my purpose, I dont need anymore wallet or card holders I just stuff em all in. i think that way saves a lot of money

    I like calculating the cost by wear. Yes my £1,500 diamond earrings are expensive but if I wear them 2 days a week, 46 weeks a year, for 10 years, that is £1.63 per wear. If I buy 1 pair of fun Accessorize earrings at £20 that I wear only 5 times in 2 years and then they get tarnished, that is £4 per wear + it contributes to clutter...

    Also buying things for the "real life" me and not the "fantasy" me. A lot of designer items do not work with my lifestyle or environment, so I stick to what I can get the most realistic use out of and consider cost per wear.

    Good tips as always. I really feel like I’ve bought enough in the past few months with all the online shopping. I need to give myself a break, so I’ve unsubscribed to the newsletters and removed a few of the shopping apps from my mobile to stop myself from endlessly scrolling through luxury items. I now look more into how to style my existing items, which is really just as fun. 😊

    Yes Eileen!! 👏 I did this recently. I was tempted by a luxury handbag not too long ago but I knew deep down that I didn’t really want it. So, I transferred the cost of the bag into my investment account and immediately felt good about it. 💯 agree with you - I too prefer a tightly curated collection as having too many items makes me feel overwhelmed. It all comes down to gratitude - appreciating what we already have and enjoying it fully! 😉 Thanks for another great video! 👍

    I’ve been doing very well in the last year. But there is still a lot of room for improvement. I discovered that I rather have cash then the items lately. I’m looking forward to the next 12 months of improvement. Honestly I think what’s kept me from buying is the selling part. It’s hard and I always lose money. Now when I look at any items, especially the more expensive ones I see money lost so I’ve been able to avoid the purchase.

I started my luxury collection last year. And I do not regret anything. I don't even buy a twilly that I'm not proud to wear. I take a long time to make up my mind. I haven’t bought any luxury bag yet but I’m thinking about it. I came across this video about listing your items you would want to buy. I actually do that and think about if I can pay it in full. And then once I get over that item, I just decide not to buy not unless I REALLY NEED IT. Not want it. I don’t wanna buy a luxury item when I myself I

    Totally agree with you, I don’t need big slg/ bag collections, after I watched your previous shopping habits video, I calculated my slg collection, I thought I might have around 10,but after the calculation I have nearly 30😨 I was truly shocked, I’m in the middle of cutting down my collection size now, bags included. After I told my friend how many bags I have sold this year, she told me I probably dont have any bags left lol but actually I still have more than 20 bags, now my goal is to downsize under 20, than eventually 10. tbh. I feel much happier now, I hope I could reach my goals soon.

    I fully agree with you Eileen. You see lots of IGers doing unboxing of Chanel, LV handbags on a weekly basis and you have to wonder how much they really appreciate them. Furthermore I can’t help but wonder if their impulse purchases are to make up for something else that’s lacking in their life? I can understand if we buy on impulse now and then, but such vulgarity in people’s shopping have really made me wonder what they’re really about ie love of item vs attention from others...

    Hi Eileen, first thing to state: I don't buy luxury items.
    However, I believe that mindful shopping and the need to manage impulse purchases should be practiced at all purchase levels. My tip is to set very clear criteria on what an item should have for you, that way many unsuitable options would just be self relegated to the "for browsing only" option.
    The 1 in 1 out rule I do apply, but not very strictly, as the end goal is just to ensure that I don't have an overly cluttered wardrobe space.

    • @ColourfulNoir
      @ColourfulNoir  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for sharing!! To be honest, I try to practise mindfulness with everything I buy now, including what I get for my little boy. Sometimes I question myself if I'm depriving him, but hopefully he will grow up to know that he doesn't need to depend on shopping for happiness xx

    • @tiggertay
      @tiggertay 3 роки тому +1

      @@ColourfulNoir I would say that rather than depriving him, you are gifting him with something more precious - the ability to not rely on material possessions for happiness. That's a rare thing to possess in our consumerist society of today.

    I used to buy whatever I want when I want. However, one day I went shopping to buy my daughter a dress for a wedding she was just a kid then. I went with a young lady who made me rethink how I spent money. She asked me if the dress was worth it since my child would most likely wear it once. And then she said, how many hours did you have to work to buy it and how much use will you get from it. I learnt a big lesson on money that day ( and I was a stockbroker). Since, then I have tried to teach my kids the same thing. And my son like to say, on big purchases take a few days to think about it and if you feel the same way about it after those days, then get it. Otherwise no. All good tips, Eileen. When tempted by a luxury purchase, another tip to add is to ask yourself would you like the item enough to buy if it were on a market stall? I agree that one of the best reasons not to shop frivolously is when you compare money to time wasted. The thought of working several weeks just to buy a luxury handbag that you don’t absolutely love or buy on a whim seems so sad and pointless. If you add up the money you’ve wasted over the years just think how many weeks, months or years you could retire early. For me that would be a definite game changer.
