@@beastorizeofsion Same. I still also like MGS2 more than 3 even though I really love both. I just got so used to relying on the soliton radar in MGS1 and 2 that not having it in 3 was so much harder, especially on ps2 and with crt tv's back in the day. With the re-release of MGS3 which included a free camera and especially the HD version of MGS3 on 360 and PS3 which is in higher resolution, I started to enjoy MGS3 allot more.
@@BossZnakemaster Good choice, in regards to MGS2; I always preferred sci-fi stories inside military bases that are set in either snow or ocean settings. Jungles and deserts don't do it for me, and despite that, I do enjoy cyber and desert punk blends which is why I loved Jak 2&3. Outside any of the mentioned criteria, despite all that said, Uncharted 3 ended up being my favorite and really loved the desert levels from NG3: Razor's Edge. Also, the direction of MGS3 paying tribute to old school movies does not happen to be my favorite thing, I also felt like Solid Snake's stories were far more synonymous with the PlayStation brand too.

I literally just bought a PS2 in 2022 because it's my favorite console of all time and so much nostalgia for when I was a teenager. I'm softmodding it. Just have to wait for my Free Mcboot card. If you still had your Slim ps2, depending on the model, that can be soft modded still to play many games from a thumbdrive via the USB port and, in many of those cases, also play online and LAN multiplayer (including LAN-tunneling). There will be small number of certain titles that were sensitive to the read speeds and players will desync and lose/not establish their connection to a particular set of players online if not using the same source media - USB versus CD/DVD versus IDE-to-SATA-adapted mass storage. Effectively, you could very well have a small LAN opportunity from your couple of PS2 consoles in addition to the online play from/with both of them. 👍🍻
I remember taking my PS2 to Iran back in 2003 and I went with my cousin to an electronic shop to mod it to play PAL/NTSC-J games at the time and now pretty much a "test" system to play region free games when it was region locked. My PS2 Console just got damaged yesterday by a unexpected electricity blackout in my neighborhood. And i was watching Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 movie on DVD and i was about to replay the game version after finishing the movie. I got so sad and depressed for my PS2 getting unexpectedly damaged on purpose, because that's the only game console i have been playing for over 15 years.😢 Good news is my Mom told me that she going to buy me a new PS4 console because my PS2 accidentally broke on purpose on me and buy me a new Spider-Man 2 movie on DVD because my original DVD got stuck inside on my PS2. While buying me some fast food and ice cream to help me feel better and relived from my sadness and depression. Thank you Mom, You're the best.☺️
I think there are way too many games out now. It is so saturated. I go back to my PS2 a lot still because it's easier to pick up Devil May Cry or FFX, then be overwhelmed by having to need a FAQ to begin with. Not saying the games are not great today, but being an 80s kid, I enjoyed those games, bit by bit. A normal person probably won't even cover the Skyrim map or Witcher maps generally and still takes 60 plus hours to speedrun the game.
I was born two years after the system released but still spent a lot (a lot) of my childhood playing the system. Funnily enough not once have I ever came across the red screen.
To this day I am surprised at how many titles I missed, Obscure being one of them. Too expensive to get now though, but I still enjoy the discovery, as I will now look more into it and its sequel!
Nice video, just going back to re-visit some classics right now. I have 3 consoles, but the DVD doesn't work in 2 of those, one slim, one fat. So the softmod is key to keep enjoying the games there.
I had a nes and then after many years a ps2 Shocking to say Our country never got a GameCube, n64,Saturn, Dreamcast So ps2 for us was simply amazing and mesmerizing ❤️ back then and now as well
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, and Final Fantasy X we're all developed in Japan. Gran Turismo was my fav. Konami and SquareSoft also made Enthusia Professional Racing and Driving Emotion Type S respectively.
One of the great things about the machine it self is that it was for the most part across the board a very reliable console, for example the PSU uses a lot of the capacitors from nichicon who makes one of the highest quality capacitors in the world, i do a lot of components level repairs and i am very impressed with the components chosen for the PS2, other than laser burn out which happens, i consider that a minor issue considering that the rest of the console just works.
Actual hardware issues are pretty rare other than disc related stuff, like the lasers burning out on the fat models, or the ribbon cable coming loose on the slims and scratching discs.
The DVD player was both a blessing and curse for this console. It was a great selling point but it wore out the disc drive laser a lot quicker because everyone was watching movies on it so frequently.
The PS2 has so much more to offer than just horror games. If you're looking into a PS2 in 2022, these are just a few of the essentials: Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal Jak 3 Sly 2: Band of Thieves Devil May Cry 3 God of War II Final Fantasy X Kingdom Hearts Resident Evil 4 Grand Theft Auto III Shadow of the Colossus Killzone Persona 4 Gran Turismo 4

Wish I'd watched this video 18 months ago. Unfortunately, I gave away my PS2 slim (which I bought specifically for its *SUPER easy* portability), DVD remote and 5 or 6 beloved kid friendly titles to get them started, to someone with very young kids just before Xmas '21. The worst of it is, we fell out shortly afterwards. I still have my 60GB PS3 to play the rest of them on, but you're right about that startup on a CRT TV, gives me the warm fuzzies just thinking about it.
Just watched the PS3 video. Have a few PS2s set aside for future modding. Wanted a fat PS3 with PS2 hardware but finding those in good condition is hard. If I ever do, I’d customize the cooling, new and better thermal paste; maybe recap some of it for long term preservation. PS2s, hell I can still score those new in box. Damn things were around forever.
It is very cool to be able to use ssds through the sata interface of the third party adapters, obviously it is limited by the speeds offered by ide. That is fascinating to use older hardware with such newer technology even if it's not performing it's potential or way that it should on sata, the advantages are still there! silent operation at 23c consistently.
I'm currently on the hunt for another ps2 before prices skyrocket. My og ps2 still works and plays and saves most of my games except one wich is RE 2 wich i don't understand. I've had it for almost 13 yrs and the only thing wrong with it besides that is the tray sometimes won't open or gets stuck and then makes a weird noise but 10 seconds later it stops and it's fine. It plays some ps1 games but not a few i bought on ebay. So I'm looking for the best ps2 that will play ps1 games and ps2 games. I'm checking ebay because that's where i bought my ps3 and ps4 that i love and all the games for my ps2 ps3 and ps4. My ps2 may be fine now but I want to have a backup ps2 just incase. I already have all the cords and everything all i need is some extra memory cards and the console. The ps2 has always been my fav console and always will be. I'm also looking to buy a NES but someone i was gonna buy one from told me it would lag big time on a roku hd tv so i was pretty dissapointed i was looking forward to playing super mario bros zelda and all my fav childhood games again but i guess i can't now. I also love dino crisis 1 and 2 all the fatal frame games leisure suit larry ect. Can't wait to get another ps2 i love video games it takes my mind off of all the craziness going on in the world. I can just escape and go into my own little world for hours and hours on end and i love it. Happy gaming everyone 🎮💜😀
Don’t need a PS2 I got 5 of them I don’t play on them ever if there were no scalpers overpricing the consoles and games I would of sold each for $10 the games for $1,00 it’s obvious that what the scalpers are asking for aren’t worth the price you tell them to pay you for the same price they want they will say no thanks what everyone wants right now is the PS5 and xbox Series X and 3090 graphics card that’s what everyone needs in 2022 if Sony was making all the games playable on the PS5 as they did to their 60 gb model PS3 I still wouldn’t play PS2 games on my PS5 I feel it’s worthless graphics has changed games play better now then they did in 2001 you can’t change the way the PS2 games play make them play as great as the PS5 all you can do is buy a remake of a game like resident evil 4 that was released on the PS2 see it play better on the PS4 and PS5 final fantasy 7 remake is a huge remake cause it was a game that was released on the PS1 that made games play bad you can buy the it digital the PS1 version and try it either on the xbox one PS4 or you can buy it from the PS3 PSN store that doesn’t give trophies 🏆
2:02 I just found your channel and you have great videos but the Gamecube was in fact more powerful than the PS2. It's a well known fact now. Many PS2 ports actually ran worse than they did on Gamecube. It only had a shaky rep with third party developers because of the small discs.

I own a PS3 fat backwards compatible with PS and PS2 games. I'm pondering whether should I get a PS2 🤔 as mentioned there's something about playing on original hardware as the games meant to be.
Use the PS3 fat if it can run ps2 games.... you dont need those crappy 8mb save files because it uses your HDD.
Its great if you can play PS, PS2 and PS3 in only one console.
@@Wailky2008 that's what I've figured. But I've heard that the PS3 fat 80gb CECHE01 model which is the one I have runs PS and PS2 games on emulation. And the CECHA01 60gb models has a PS2 motherboard/chip in them.
High quality video as always, love my ps2, but i really wish it had USB 2.0 so that i could completely not use dvds
You can put Micro sd cards in special memory cards and play your games over the memory card..
I actually got a PS2 at the start of this year. Definitely reliving my childhood memories this year
I bought mine in December silver slim
My wide bought me a ps2 slim lm collecting rare games also reliving my childhood memories and dreams
I would love to have one but I got the ps3 it still great ✊🏾
My PS2 Console just got damaged yesterday by a unexpected electricity blackout in my neighborhood.
And i was watching Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 2 movie on DVD and i was about to replay the game version after finishing the movie.
I got so sad and depressed for my PS2 getting unexpectedly damaged on purpose, because that's the only game console i have been playing for over 15 years.😢
Good news is my Mom told me that she going to buy me a new PS4 console because my PS2 accidentally broke on purpose on me and buy me a new Spider-Man 2 movie on DVD because my original DVD got stuck inside on my PS2.
While buying me some fast food and ice cream to help me feel better and relived from my sadness and depression.
Thank you Mom,
You're the best.☺️
Too expensive to get now though, but I still enjoy the discovery, as I will now look more into it and its sequel!
omg can’t wait for this banger. purple carried 😻
Nice video, just going back to re-visit some classics right now. I have 3 consoles, but the DVD doesn't work in 2 of those, one slim, one fat. So the softmod is key to keep enjoying the games there.
i just buy my first ps2 last week, i only have famicom back then when i was kid. now im grown man i buy anything i want
I had a nes and then after many years a ps2
Shocking to say
Our country never got a GameCube, n64,Saturn, Dreamcast
So ps2 for us was simply amazing and mesmerizing ❤️ back then and now as well
I want the ps5 to look like this or go back to the OG grey
The expansion bay was a perfect stash spot in my room. This baby did it all at the time 🤣
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, and Final Fantasy X we're all developed in Japan.
Screw getting a PS2, what you really need is the PS3 Fat Cecha01 model.
Playing Gauntlet Dark Legacy PS2 via hdmi called so AweSomeNess PerSoNiFied
In 2022 my PS2 is a full time DVD player never upgraded to bluray due to the lack of interactive content
Funny enough, I got one yesterday 🤝🏾🔥
The DVD player was both a blessing and curse for this console. It was a great selling point but it wore out the disc drive laser a lot quicker because everyone was watching movies on it so frequently.
Fortunately for me, I have a ps2 in 2022.
I just bought SSX Tricky & SSX 3 because as much as id like them to make a remaster like Tony Hawk,I'm not holding my breath waiting on EA.
The PS2 has so much more to offer than just horror games. If you're looking into a PS2 in 2022, these are just a few of the essentials:
Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Jak 3
Sly 2: Band of Thieves
Devil May Cry 3
God of War II
Final Fantasy X
Kingdom Hearts
Resident Evil 4
Grand Theft Auto III
Shadow of the Colossus
Killzone
Persona 4
Gran Turismo 4
Once again another great ps2 review! Do you always do these "Why you need a (Console name) in (year)" videos"? Cause if so I'll definitely subscribe!
My favourite console is ps2
Ratchet and clank, jak and daxter, spyro, crash, scaler, etc
Ohh they're all so good!!!
Got 1 again for 30.... Feels crazy to see & own it again. Now all i need is the ps1 then i would have all 5. Cant wait to find some of the games i had as a kid.. The hunt is on.. Lets gooooooooo
I still got mine at 22 and never letting go 😇
Wish I'd watched this video 18 months ago.
PS2 was amazing even tho PS3 was my childhood
Internet went out here, so I the only thing to do was to hook up the PS2 and binge aqua teen hunger force. Bless that console.
Still got an original fat one that I got on pre order when they first came out that still works plus two slims that I still play to this day
Also, try "Shadow Hearts" (1 and Covenant) as well as SMT: Digital Devil Saga.
Damn things were around forever.
dame what a good vid sad you dont get a lot of views
PS1/2 were some of the stables of a generation and a point in time thats been lost forever.
Nice tanks for the video
I miss my PlayStation 2. Man my sister would come in my room and play it
It is very cool to be able to use ssds through the sata interface of the third party adapters, obviously it is limited by the speeds offered by ide. That is fascinating to use older hardware with such newer technology even if it's not performing it's potential or way that it should on sata, the advantages are still there! silent operation at 23c consistently.
I think the PS2 is still the best-looking console.
Man, I love you for this content!
Just great games like Urban Reign and Def Jam
Lol at the devil may cry footage of running around the stairs at the start and how its a fast paced action game
The only thing missing from this video was a mention of sports games.
I think am going buy my 15yr old son experience ps2 for some retro fun
It's still beautifully magnificent...🤘🏼💯✔️
Bro I have had my PS2 since 2008 and I was only playing Crazy Taxi on it until I got Parappa the Rapper 2
Because it is a best console ever and they the greatest games i like on a ps2 so good memories when i was a kid i wanted so badly
I have a ps2 i got one for my brithday when i was 4 now im 11 and my aunts had the ps2 so now i have three of these
PS2 was the GOAT console! It outlived so many other consoles haha
My ps2 still works and i still play it, I sometimes buy games.
I haven't even finished the video and I'm fully agreeing still lol
2:02 I just found your channel and you have great videos but the Gamecube was in fact more powerful than the PS2. It's a well known fact now. Many PS2 ports actually ran worse than they did on Gamecube. It only had a shaky rep with third party developers because of the small discs.
Got the PS2 slim which replaced the big PS2(disc drive failed)
I keep it around just to play Socom US Navy Seals
My Soft Modded one Died last year :(
i wanna buy a ps2 but idk what i need to fully play it. i wanna play silent hill and Tokyo xtreme racer 2
I just picked up PS2 fat, grey color. Im so exited!
I do have a Ps2 Man 👨
Metal gear solid 2 was one of the coolest games for ps2.
Great video
I have 3, 1 being used, 2 unopened. No updates needed. AND SHALL NEVER SELL THEM
Man I remember I had my ps3 hooked up in my basement and I’d play that in the day but when I ready ready to go to bed I had my ps2 fat hooked up online in my bedroom and I just played socom and black hawk down till I fell asleep.
And now I still play my ps2 every day online. Socom 2 private fan made servers and battlefield 2 mostly but now and then I’ll jump on cod 3 when there’s a decent amount of people on
I still play Playstation 2 and 3 to this day. Sometimes i'm just in the mood to play older games then i play them. 💜
Good luck trying to find one that still works
What if you don't have a ps4 or 5 and you have ps2 you can still manage the ps2
I really wish that my ps2 didn’t break back when I was 8 but if it still worked I would of been a PlayStation player than an Xbox player
I still have a ps2 but to be honest I can't play it anymore on my TV , the image just looks terrible even through hdmi adapter , I much prefer playing ps2 games with aether sx2 on Android or pcsx2 on pc
Really? Even we adjust the hdmi to 1080p? I didnt try to hdmi yet
@@rolandorevidizo1757 the hdmi adapter gives 480p signal but it's much better than rca out from the ps2 , it's not upscaling to 1080p the image is sharper but it's no match to aether sx2 or pcsx2 upscaler to 1080p or 4k
what is that song in your intro?
i hated the ps2 slim, not only did it feel fragile to hold but was fragile from the inside with it's constant laser reading problems , i miss my fat boy so much , never got to fully realize the potential of it's hard drive and usb ports (edit:Also not a fan of how hot the slim got)
Should I get the ps2 classic? Or slim? I’m trying to mod this amazing thing but I’m not sure witch is better
I'll need my PS2 in 2032. I love the system to bits.😉
I need a ps2 because I’m missing a (working) ps2 and a ps5 for my collection. That’s why.
Never had one growing up. My first console was a ps4. But I remember going over to my friends and they had it.
Dude review a series S
I personally think it's depends on your taste I myself have enjoyed them I had 3 already one was stolen from my storage unit unfortunately so I only have 2 left both need repair#1 is out on ps1 game's #2 the front door fell apart and is jammed
