I got into Gaming pretty late due to the fact that my parents wouldn’t buy me a console so when i finally got my 360 next gen had been out for a couple years but MAN i enjoyed every game on the 360 i played almost all the Good RPGS And story shooters (Dragon Age , Oblivion , skyrim etc) the cheap prices made it even more accessible to me , every other week id buy 5 games and had a blast definitely my favorite console
Just bought an xbox 360 again after 7 years (I sold it back then). I got it really cheap with all the COD’s. Focussing on BO1 & BO2 Zombies atm…. i’m loving it so far and the 20 year old me is still geeking about it!!
I grew up playing playstation consoles and always held spite towards Xbox (obviously because console wars were huge back then). But I recently bought a Series S and after playing that I became so interested in xbox. So i just bought my first 360 slim console, controller and 6 games for $83 on eBay! Pretty solid price considering the majority sell for around $100-$130. Should get it in the mail in a week, cannot wait to play some old games

If Sony, Nintendo, Sega or Microsoft had focused on backwards compatibility from the beginning, they would reign supreme forever. I've always found it odd they don't. Having the ability to just upgrade your console and be able to play the games you've collected has always been the gamers dream. It would also guarantee people would buy the their next gen system.
@@cliffturbo2146 They tried to with the ps3, but then everyone bitched about the price. The ps4 was incable of doing ps3 because the architecture of the cell is so fucking off from the ps4 its impossible. Ps4 and ps5 are both x86 arch so it works flawlessly

Xbox 360 is still amazing. The Metro UI is still my favourite console UI. Yes it's slow now, but ignoring the speed it's so damn smooth. Some of the games still look amazing. If you don't have a lot of money for video games they are sold so cheap and the games too. Amazing consoles 👌

God i put so many hours into my xbox 360 back in the day. By far my favorite period of gaming ever. Made some of the best memories gaming wise on the 360 and ran into some of the best people. Miss those days. Might have to dust off my old console soon
Still got my launch 360 works fine same with my mates systems, our systems wasn't buried under loads of shite or choking in a cramped cabinet. First XBOX looked great and I loved it, so did everyone at the LAN parties, system was an absolute power house. Games looked and sounded amazing.
I never had a xbox 360 but I definitely love the Series x. I play some 360 games via backwards compatibility and love how xbox has improved framerates and resolution on back compat games. Fps boost is amazing, quick resume is something you must experience to really appreciate. The performance and loading times are unreal this generation. 360 still sounds like a great console but if you can get a series x or series s it's definitely worth the extra money. Gp ultimate is definitely a game changer as well. No wonder everyone says it's the best value in gaming.
I grew up with PS2/3/4 and i just recently picked up an Xbox Series S for the next gen capabilities. I absolutely love it, coming from a longterm playstation user too. Even though I can play 360 games on my Series S, i just bought an Xbox 360 Slim on eBay. I got the console, controller, cables and 6 games for $83! I wanted to experience some retro vibes, but more so because I want to see how the original competitor of the PS3 is.
Your completely right the xbox 360 is still a great console, even if some games like Minecraft are still stuck on updates but hey in my opinion more nostalgic. I've had mine since 2017 (5 years) and through those years while I've abandoned it at times for my switch or my xbox 1 but after a week or so I picked it up again. But the only bad thing about it. Is the horrible fan, it sounds like a dying horse lol.

I’ve never really viewed the original Xbox as a failure, that’s interesting. It wasn’t nearly as successful as the ps2 but I don’t think that was due a lack of quality software. Sony just ruled the gaming world back then. Microsoft put up a good fight and I still really enjoy the original Xbox. I’ve had more luck with them in terms of reliability compared to the ps2.
Well, exactly. Sony rode the wave coming off of the huge success of the PS2 (now going into the PS3). Xbox had a lot of competition with Sony and the introduction of the RROD didn’t help either lol. But i love Xbox now after being a long term Sony user. Bought a series S to replace my old and loud a*s ps4 and i just bought an xbox 360 slim console off eBay today. Can’t wait to play it man

microsoft fucked up by not having the OG xbox function as a DVD player out of the box, you had to buy this gimmick remote and controller plug in to watch movies.
It is always a good idea to wait for one to two into a console live cycle to get it, because by then hopefully all the hardware mistakes have been fixed, most of the lunch titles are discounted, and better versions are released, don't test their product for them for free. Don't give into FOMO.

The slim models will always be better due to redisigns. Not only was the Xbox 360 slim better than the original (as mentioned in this video) but the same goes for the Ps3, wich also had a bit of a reputation for overheating. Sure, at the same time the manufacturers are also looking to cut costs and therefor remove certain ports etc. from the system (e.g. sd card slots on Ps3 phat) but overall you get a better, more reliable system.
It's insane how well consoles are selling today. Mostly because the standard consoles with a drive are $500. So it just proves console gaming is still relevant.
Dude for sure. I just bought a Series S for next gen/price point, and to replace my old/loud ps4 lol. After owning a PS2-4, i really can say that xbox has impressed me so much and i wish i switched a while ago. I even just today bought a 360 slim on ebay lol.
Yeah $500 is alot for some people however it's still way cheaper than an 1200 pc and the series s seems to do well other than no disc drive I've read so many great reviews about it I may just buy the series s however instill wan the disc drive so if I don't like a game or it's to difficult to play Incan resell it or maybe trade in for another game

I found one seriously it was only played 5 times ever in it's life came with 3 controllers it still had that new plastic console smell when fan came on got it all for a steal at $70 bucks for a grandfather that had it for his grandchildren years and years ago he had it stored in a box in his closet since 2010

When my Xbox 1 disc tray stopped working I bought a 360 to tide me u til I could afford a refurbished Xbox 1. I still have that 360. I have gtav and red dead redemption (with undead nightmare) as well as a couple other games for it. Never selling it. 🤷♂️
I switched from 360 to PS3 mid-gen due to MS's switch to casual/younger child focused audience and also due to the fact my Phat unit gave up the red ring. I found a PS3 Slim for a good price in ~2010 and went for it. No regrets.
Briefly, the reasons you need an XBOX 360 are the following: -comfortable controller -VERY cheap -amazing games -you can still go online and use many applications such as Netflix or UA-cam! Thats about all i could give…many more to find when you own one!
Hi Nathan, Great review as always but there is one "but". At 13:20 you have mentioned that X360 is easy to softmod and it is basically not true. In order to override kerner supervisor X360 needs to be hardmodded by installing an RGH2 or RGH3 modchip. Maybe your console has been modified before and that is why you don't have any problems with installing the new software. Otherwise great review, a nostalgia trip for me :) Thanks for great content !
im fairly certain there are other ways documented by Modern Vintage Gamer (its a channel on youtube .)he just really loves covering all of the exploits and ways to soft mod or hard mod consoles over the years. He covers the systems people make to use a wider variety of software for the older consoles as well. I could be wrong but I thought there were 5+ ways to mod an xbox 360. Dvd drive , mod chips , i think there is save game exploit for 2 specific games. cant think of any others so maybe just those.
It all depends on the model number. Some 360's are far easier to mod than others. I can't remember which models are the easiest but I know the newest one that came out with the xbox one is the hardest to mod
I'd say the best 360 model is the Elite. especially the ones that were manufactured from September 2009 until early 2010 before the Slim model was released. Those are known as Kronos or Jasper v2
They did but if you have a modded console you can still play halo 3 multi-player online with project sunrise. They host events and tournaments on discord all the time on the halo 3 discord.
I found my Xbox 360 and downloaded all my digital games, I had loads as I was too lazy to go the shops back in the day . 😅 just bought all the Assassins Creed games in digital format for £2.50 each 😋
This system still kicks ass tbh. Some controllers get trashy fast, ie the one I got with my system won’t stay connected and disconnects EVERY MINUTE, but they are cheap to replace! I own the FAT model pictured in this vid, with the silver disk tray instead of white. Accessories and games for the 360 are so cheap and kinectimals is my favorite. Not forgetting to mention the fun Kinect! Definitely worth buying in 2022! Don’t forget to get your wireless adapter for your 360 so you can connect to internet and XBOX LIVE!!!
you can't soft mod An Xbox 360 yet maybe in the near future but the clip you were showing of dash lunch and xex menu was on there because it hard modded like it has a mod chip solder to the board also known as rgh or rgh 2.0 the first 360 was able to be jtag but all slims only run rgh hack also known as reset glitch hack but otherwise good video 👍
i recently got a special blue 360 from my cousin’s dad and i can safely say that l4d2 feels way more responsive on it rather than on my xbox one, plus the fact that i can still play with my friend who plays via a one? i love it!
actually, the big issue with the 360 wasn't solder melting, it was the recent move at that time to ban leaded solder in europe, leaded solder handles flexing better than non lead solder. so microsoft's console design coupled with leadless solder caused solder joints to break, not melt. the x clamp fix worked for a time, but eventually all launch style consoles will break. hence the release of the s model which fixed all the major hardware issues.
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 Yup the 360 failure rate was special, people did forgive it due to warranty extension and 360 had really good games at the time. YLOD still sucked when it happens since ps3 had only 1 yr warranties.
Leaded solder actually melts at a lower temperature. I'm not sure how it cracks as opposed to non-leaded solder, but if the machine runs hot, the leaded solder would melt first.
Just bought a 360 S console with 6 games, the original controller and the cables for $83 on eBay! Just recently also bought the Series S and i love it so much. I grew up with the PS2/3/4 and always hated xbox but the day i tried xbox i like it so much more than playstation ironically. Really excited to play the 360 and some old games!
I bought a Xbox 360 S back in December for $70, I've been holding onto it to install mod chips, I've already replaced the Thermal Paste with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme cause holy, there was basically no thermal paste on the SOC, No wonder the Xbox runs hot lol. Would recommend replacing Thermal Paste on any Xbox 360, let me tell ya, you need a lot of thermal paste cause the Cpu (SOC) Die is absolutely massive.

It CAN have the RROD. There’s just no actual red rings(they changed the design of the power button), just a solid red light. I just bought a slim on eBay today after being a long term playstation user, wish me luck lol.

Thinking about picking one up again sold mine back in the day with the birth of my first son with a combination of needing money and to the fact of not having much time for it. I don't regret but I did what I thought was right
I managed to pick up a rgh 360 december 2020 for only $80!! Would definitely recommend one to anyone if you love 360 i even had a 2tb hard drive which i had around 500 games on until it broke so now only have a few games now but its still a blast and theres plenty of things to do on it from mod menus custom boot screens can even get any 360 game and dlc for free if u know where to look honestly a purchase im never gonna regret
After seeing this video, I must say I am glad I got that beast repaired because it is still indeed my favorite to boot, however, I really want to take care of that console since it has a very big sentimental value and at the same time I really think it will come in handy in a very close future because this is more than a retro console but a time capsule and my shortcut to access games that aren't backward compatible, and the fact that it might play part in a future short film project. I got a blue version of the last Elite version, and I have to say I still love this console and I might want to play a bit before heading to college.
Only ever owned two Xbox 360 models. Both the original fat white models from the Arcade packs. Never got the RROD. However the first one died exactly one year after purchase wth an E74 graphics chip failure. Second one with a later revision motherboard is still working perfectly to this day. Xbox Backwards compatibility and xbox live arcade games is my main reason for owning an xbox 360. Modding it is another reason, so you can play all the backwards compatibility, XBL and 360 games from a hard drive.
I had a ps3 myself growing up but now that I'm older I still love my ps3 but I have to say that xbox 360 had the best controller at the time and it's still great now to the point where I still use it on pc.
i will say the 360 controller is nearly the perfect size and shape . if it had rear facing buttons where the tips of the fingers rest near , that does it for me . i use a weird gimmick controller they didnt make many of . still based on the 360 design shape just see through with led light bar and a 3 way rocker switches . Afterglow prismatic(Light Bar) was cheaper than microsoft at the time . Too bad they break easily on the usb part.
Here are some reasons I still play my 360 in midd 30s , 1 no need to spend 500+ for new console, 2 we have limited time and in my opinion any new console will be a waste , 3 old games that are cheap and you can buy them by the lot, 4 graphics are good it's not like you play a PS2 or 1 , 5 Skyrim - red dead - dead space- dragon age inquisition :)
i remember absolutely grinding on Forza horizon 2 on the Xbox 360 back in 2014 for my birthday. my favorite game on my favorite console, the Xbox 360 will forever have a place in my heart.
I tell you this, I’ve got a Series X and Xbox one X. But I still have and play my 360. Let me tell you why. A lot of 360 games are not backwards compatible and I didn’t want to let those wonderful games go. I’m currently playing The Saboteur on the 360. On a 4K TV it looks amazing.

I recently bought the Hitman HD Trilogy, mostly because of Blood Money for the Xbox360 and i must say its really worth it. Maybe its not the 4k HD super fps gameplay but games of this time are just well made. Correct me if im wrong :) Ps.Sry for my bad english
I've owned the original 360 [red ringed] the slim [eventually it would power on for 10 secs then turn off], and the E model. The e model is still goin strong to this day! Personally I'd go for the e I'd your lookin to get one but totally up to you
I can agree with this. I went through 3 phat models and i'm on my 2nd slim now. My first slim was a halo reach with a trinity board but it crapped out with a 0100 GPU error. The 360 E is the best model to get at this point for reliability Sadly all 360's will eventaully fail though due to a engineering issue with the GPU and the solder balls under the substrate.
I bought used original Xbox 360 (Japan version) $89 in 2019 for my personal collection, i still used this console in 2022..very good console 👍 I love it !
The one plus with the OG xbox, was the cord allowing the use of RCA and Component cable, gave it more versatility that I use to this day (since there is never enough hdmi ports.)
I really regret selling my 360 and the games I had because it was in really good condition with no problems. I bought one 2 years ago and the controller stopped working, it’s a got power supply issue and the disk tray dosen’t work half the time…
The 360 had better specs than the PS3. It had unified shaders plus unified and more availabe RAM. That's why cross-platform games generally always ran better and with better image quality on the 360. The thing PS3 had over 360 was the BD drive. The fan wasn't loud on the OG 360. The DVD was very loud.
That's a misconception. The PS3 had cell technology which was quite difficult to program for, which is why many multi-platform games looked better on the 360. First party PS3 games ALWAYS looked better, though. The PS3 is vastly more powerful than the 360, but I still love the 360.
They are more reliable, i have a halo 4 slim edition with the dot, in the process of fixing it. But good video, totally agree with you, great console cheap games
Sadly more and more slims are dying by day. I love my slim but I know it's a ticking time bomb due to the engineering of the gpu's being faulty. Not sure if they fixed that on the slim e units but the OG xbox and slim S models had issue with the solder under the substrate that would cause the chip to fail and I don't think it's repairable.

you don't need one lmao the kinect hooks up to the launch x1 i bought the 360 to play 1 game on it and the next day they added it to the x1 (katamari). 360 doesn't even feature full backwards compatibility to the OG xbox. just buy a steam deck and run an emulator off of it
The 360 had great security, and it isn't easy (for first timers) to MOD like the og Xbox with soft mods is. The footage you showed is the "jtag" exploit and that requires soldering wires & switching diode and really old firmware revision / unit (if i remember correctly) to even do, the reset glitch isn't trival either, I have done maybe 8 back in the day, DVD custom firmware(i must have done hundreds) if you only want to run backups also requires specialized HW (so does the reset glitch). So very misleading for someone that want to MOD their system. Edit- i found this as of jan 2022 "To keep it short, there's a "softmod" for the 360, only prerequisite the flashed drive. If your 360 is at kernel 4532 or 4548, you could use the King Kong Exploit. Kernel 4532 and 4548 contain a hypervisor bug which doesn't check for shader signatures. Any hardware hack not counting flashed drives rely on those kernels to load it into a hacked environment. JTAG and all RGH versions patch the bootloaders to load into this kernel." TLDR you need a very rare and specific console version revision, kernel & dashboard to softmod. 1 more note if you want to mod your xbox 360 in 2022 look up the "reset glitch" exploit or more commonly referred to as "RGH" I think it's on revision 3 now. GL and happy modding.
6:05 I will forever remember receiving an Xbox 360 the very Christmas they were released (after my og Xbox took a shit and I was video gameless for a few months) I opened my 360 on Christmas morning and it was defective. One of the many reasons why I purchased an xbox 360 in 2022 was not only the extremely affordable price but to relive memories. The 360 in 2022 still kickass as it did when it came out.
The problem with old consoles is that the image looks terrible on a modern high resolution display. You need a display with a pixel grid that can perfectly fit those 720p resolution for it to look good, a HD TV in short.
I don't get it, I think the graphics still look amazing, there is nothing wrong with it and generally as far as controls go there is nothing new about the modern consoles and the 360 controls are on point.

I've had mine since 2017 (5 years) and through those years while I've abandoned it at times for my switch or my xbox 1 but after a week or so I picked it up again. But the only bad thing about it. Is the horrible fan, it sounds like a dying horse lol.

I’ve never really viewed the original Xbox as a failure, that’s interesting. It wasn’t nearly as successful as the ps2 but I don’t think that was due a lack of quality software. Sony just ruled the gaming world back then. Microsoft put up a good fight and I still really enjoy the original Xbox. I’ve had more luck with them in terms of reliability compared to the ps2.
Well, exactly. Sony rode the wave coming off of the huge success of the PS2 (now going into the PS3). Xbox had a lot of competition with Sony and the introduction of the RROD didn’t help either lol. But i love Xbox now after being a long term Sony user. Bought a series S to replace my old and loud a*s ps4 and i just bought an xbox 360 slim console off eBay today. Can’t wait to play it man

microsoft fucked up by not having the OG xbox function as a DVD player out of the box, you had to buy this gimmick remote and controller plug in to watch movies.

It is always a good idea to wait for one to two into a console live cycle to get it, because by then hopefully all the hardware mistakes have been fixed, most of the lunch titles are discounted, and better versions are released, don't test their product for them for free. Don't give into FOMO.

The slim models will always be better due to redisigns. Not only was the Xbox 360 slim better than the original (as mentioned in this video) but the same goes for the Ps3, wich also had a bit of a reputation for overheating. Sure, at the same time the manufacturers are also looking to cut costs and therefor remove certain ports etc. from the system (e.g. sd card slots on Ps3 phat) but overall you get a better, more reliable system.
2 reasons I'm saving 360 are not enough backward compatible for Xbox 1 and Series s/x, and I can play digital games on 360 when it offline.
Same reason I am hanging on to my og Xbox. A lot of great titles and both the Xbox and the Xbox 360 still work really well.
One more reason for 360, it won't force the kids to sign up for Xbox live accounts.
It's insane how well consoles are selling today. Mostly because the standard consoles with a drive are $500. So it just proves console gaming is still relevant.

Dude for sure. I just bought a Series S for next gen/price point, and to replace my old/loud ps4 lol. After owning a PS2-4, i really can say that xbox has impressed me so much and i wish i switched a while ago. I even just today bought a 360 slim on ebay lol.
Yeah $500 is alot for some people however it's still way cheaper than an 1200 pc and the series s seems to do well other than no disc drive I've read so many great reviews about it I may just buy the series s however instill wan the disc drive so if I don't like a game or it's to difficult to play Incan resell it or maybe trade in for another game

I found one seriously it was only played 5 times ever in it's life came with 3 controllers it still had that new plastic console smell when fan came on got it all for a steal at $70 bucks for a grandfather that had it for his grandchildren years and years ago he had it stored in a box in his closet since 2010

It’s also good to hang on to if you happen to have a HD DVD collection and add on player as it’s one of the few ways left to still play them.
When my Xbox 1 disc tray stopped working I bought a 360 to tide me u til I could afford a refurbished Xbox 1.
I still have that 360. I have gtav and red dead redemption (with undead nightmare) as well as a couple other games for it.

I switched from 360 to PS3 mid-gen due to MS's switch to casual/younger child focused audience and also due to the fact my Phat unit gave up the red ring. I found a PS3 Slim for a good price in ~2010 and went for it. No regrets.
Briefly, the reasons you need an XBOX 360 are the following:
-comfortable controller
-VERY cheap
-amazing games
-you can still go online and use many applications such as Netflix or UA-cam!

Great review as always but there is one "but". At 13:20 you have mentioned that X360 is easy to softmod and it is basically not true. In order to override kerner supervisor X360 needs to be hardmodded by installing an RGH2 or RGH3 modchip. Maybe your console has been modified before and that is why you don't have any problems with installing the new software.

im fairly certain there are other ways documented by Modern Vintage Gamer (its a channel on youtube .)he just really loves covering all of the exploits and ways to soft mod or hard mod consoles over the years. He covers the systems people make to use a wider variety of software for the older consoles as well. I could be wrong but I thought there were 5+ ways to mod an xbox 360. Dvd drive , mod chips , i think there is save game exploit for 2 specific games. cant think of any others so maybe just those.
Correction: RGH 3 doesn't require a modchip, only 2 wires and optional resistors(they keep saying optional but I see them as being necessary)
It all depends on the model number. Some 360's are far easier to mod than others. I can't remember which models are the easiest but I know the newest one that came out with the xbox one is the hardest to mod

I'd say the best 360 model is the Elite. especially the ones that were manufactured from September 2009 until early 2010 before the Slim model was released. Those are known as Kronos or Jasper v2

I just bought 2 on eBay and a ton of games. You can fit one into a Harbor Freight case with a monitor. Makes a great quick suitcase portable.

They did but if you have a modded console you can still play halo 3 multi-player online with project sunrise. They host events and tournaments on discord all the time on the halo 3 discord.

This system still kicks ass tbh. Some controllers get trashy fast, ie the one I got with my system won’t stay connected and disconnects EVERY MINUTE, but they are cheap to replace! I own the FAT model pictured in this vid, with the silver disk tray instead of white. Accessories and games for the 360 are so cheap and kinectimals is my favorite. Not forgetting to mention the fun Kinect! Definitely worth buying in 2022! Don’t forget to get your wireless adapter for your 360 so you can connect to internet and XBOX LIVE!!!
you can't soft mod An Xbox 360 yet maybe in the near future but the clip you were showing of dash lunch and xex menu was on there because it hard modded like it has a mod chip solder to the board also known as rgh or rgh 2.0 the first 360 was able to be jtag but all slims only run rgh hack also known as reset glitch hack but otherwise good video 👍
i recently got a special blue 360 from my cousin’s dad and i can safely say that l4d2 feels way more responsive on it rather than on my xbox one, plus the fact that i can still play with my friend who plays via a one? i love it!

actually, the big issue with the 360 wasn't solder melting, it was the recent move at that time to ban leaded solder in europe, leaded solder handles flexing better than non lead solder. so microsoft's console design coupled with leadless solder caused solder joints to break, not melt. the x clamp fix worked for a time, but eventually all launch style consoles will break. hence the release of the s model which fixed all the major hardware issues.

YLOD still sucked when it happens since ps3 had only 1 yr warranties.
Leaded solder actually melts at a lower temperature. I'm not sure how it cracks as opposed to non-leaded solder, but if the machine runs hot, the leaded solder would melt first.
Just bought a 360 S console with 6 games, the original controller and the cables for $83 on eBay! Just recently also bought the Series S and i love it so much. I grew up with the PS2/3/4 and always hated xbox but the day i tried xbox i like it so much more than playstation ironically. Really excited to play the 360 and some old games!

I bought a Xbox 360 S back in December for $70, I've been holding onto it to install mod chips, I've already replaced the Thermal Paste with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme cause holy, there was basically no thermal paste on the SOC, No wonder the Xbox runs hot lol. Would recommend replacing Thermal Paste on any Xbox 360, let me tell ya, you need a lot of thermal paste cause the Cpu (SOC) Die is absolutely massive.
No need for a mod chip if it's a slim. You can do an rgh3 mod to it that just requires 2 wires and 1 resistor soldered in.

I'm not sure about the Elite, but I know for a fact that the Slim can red ring, it happened to mine around a year ago.
It CAN have the RROD. There’s just no actual red rings(they changed the design of the power button), just a solid red light. I just bought a slim on eBay today after being a long term playstation user, wish me luck lol.

I managed to pick up a rgh 360 december 2020 for only $80!! Would definitely recommend one to anyone if you love 360 i even had a 2tb hard drive which i had around 500 games on until it broke so now only have a few games now but its still a blast and theres plenty of things to do on it from mod menus custom boot screens can even get any 360 game and dlc for free if u know where to look honestly a purchase im never gonna regret

After seeing this video, I must say I am glad I got that beast repaired because it is still indeed my favorite to boot, however, I really want to take care of that console since it has a very big sentimental value and at the same time I really think it will come in handy in a very close future because this is more than a retro console but a time capsule and my shortcut to access games that aren't backward compatible, and the fact that it might play part in a future short film project. I got a blue version of the last Elite version, and I have to say I still love this console and I might want to play a bit before heading to college.
Only ever owned two Xbox 360 models. Both the original fat white models from the Arcade packs. Never got the RROD. However the first one died exactly one year after purchase wth an E74 graphics chip failure. Second one with a later revision motherboard is still working perfectly to this day. Xbox Backwards compatibility and xbox live arcade games is my main reason for owning an xbox 360. Modding it is another reason, so you can play all the backwards compatibility, XBL and 360 games from a hard drive.
My 4th one just burned out about a month ago, so off I go again when I can get a spare $40 to acquire another.
I had a ps3 myself growing up but now that I'm older I still love my ps3 but I have to say that xbox 360 had the best controller at the time and it's still great now to the point where I still use it on pc.
I was never a fan of the Xbox controller it was not tarible but it just was not my cup of tea

@@djtoxicdhg i find the ps3 controller to be too small for my hands nowadays whereas the 360 controller is very comfortable.
i will say the 360 controller is nearly the perfect size and shape . if it had rear facing buttons where the tips of the fingers rest near , that does it for me . i use a weird gimmick controller they didnt make many of . still based on the 360 design shape just see through with led light bar and a 3 way rocker switches . Afterglow prismatic(Light Bar) was cheaper than microsoft at the time . Too bad they break easily on the usb part.

I still play my Xbox 360 right now I'm playing Modern Warfare 3 for the forth time since I completed it.
Here are some reasons I still play my 360 in midd 30s , 1 no need to spend 500+ for new console, 2 we have limited time and in my opinion any new console will be a waste , 3 old games that are cheap and you can buy them by the lot, 4 graphics are good it's not like you play a PS2 or 1 , 5 Skyrim - red dead - dead space- dragon age inquisition :)
i remember absolutely grinding on Forza horizon 2 on the Xbox 360 back in 2014 for my birthday. my favorite game on my favorite console, the Xbox 360 will forever have a place in my heart.

I tell you this, I’ve got a Series X and Xbox one X. But I still have and play my 360. Let me tell you why. A lot of 360 games are not backwards compatible and I didn’t want to let those wonderful games go. I’m currently playing The Saboteur on the 360. On a 4K TV it looks amazing.

I recently bought the Hitman HD Trilogy, mostly because of Blood Money for the Xbox360 and i must say its really worth it. Maybe its not the 4k HD super fps gameplay but games of this time are just well made. Correct me if im wrong :)

I've owned the original 360 [red ringed] the slim [eventually it would power on for 10 secs then turn off], and the E model. The e model is still goin strong to this day! Personally I'd go for the e I'd your lookin to get one but totally up to you
I can agree with this. I went through 3 phat models and i'm on my 2nd slim now. My first slim was a halo reach with a trinity board but it crapped out with a 0100 GPU error. The 360 E is the best model to get at this point for reliability
Sadly all 360's will eventaully fail though due to a engineering issue with the GPU and the solder balls under the substrate.

The Xbox 360 controller uses a proprietary wireless protocol, and not Bluetooth
The one plus with the OG xbox, was the cord allowing the use of RCA and Component cable, gave it more versatility that I use to this day (since there is never enough hdmi ports.)

360 had 2.4ghz controllers they aren't bluetooth. 2 4ghz I still prefer over bluetooth greatly
The 360 had better specs than the PS3. It had unified shaders plus unified and more availabe RAM. That's why cross-platform games generally always ran better and with better image quality on the 360. The thing PS3 had over 360 was the BD drive.
The fan wasn't loud on the OG 360. The DVD was very loud.

That's a misconception. The PS3 had cell technology which was quite difficult to program for, which is why many multi-platform games looked better on the 360. First party PS3 games ALWAYS looked better, though. The PS3 is vastly more powerful than the 360, but I still love the 360.

Slim has its own rrod, its called the red dot of death. Not as common as the originals rrod though.

Sadly more and more slims are dying by day. I love my slim but I know it's a ticking time bomb due to the engineering of the gpu's being faulty. Not sure if they fixed that on the slim e units but the OG xbox and slim S models had issue with the solder under the substrate that would cause the chip to fail and I don't think it's repairable.

you don't need one lmao the kinect hooks up to the launch x1 i bought the 360 to play 1 game on it and the next day they added it to the x1 (katamari). 360 doesn't even feature full backwards compatibility to the OG xbox. just buy a steam deck and run an emulator off of it

I remember when I bought my 360 the sales guy tried to tell me the Elite was a waste. He said nobody will ever need 120GB drive. He was very wrong.
The 360 had great security, and it isn't easy (for first timers) to MOD like the og Xbox with soft mods is. The footage you showed is the "jtag" exploit and that requires soldering wires & switching diode and really old firmware revision / unit (if i remember correctly) to even do, the reset glitch isn't trival either, I have done maybe 8 back in the day, DVD custom firmware(i must have done hundreds) if you only want to run backups also requires specialized HW (so does the reset glitch). So very misleading for someone that want to MOD their system.

JTAG and all RGH versions patch the bootloaders to load into this kernel."
TLDR you need a very rare and specific console version revision, kernel & dashboard to softmod.
1 more note if you want to mod your xbox 360 in 2022 look up the "reset glitch" exploit or more commonly referred to as "RGH" I think it's on revision 3 now. GL and happy modding.

6:05 I will forever remember receiving an Xbox 360 the very Christmas they were released (after my og Xbox took a shit and I was video gameless for a few months) I opened my 360 on Christmas morning and it was defective. One of the many reasons why I purchased an xbox 360 in 2022 was not only the extremely affordable price but to relive memories. The 360 in 2022 still kickass as it did when it came out.

The problem with old consoles is that the image looks terrible on a modern high resolution display. You need a display with a pixel grid that can perfectly fit those 720p resolution for it to look good, a HD TV in short.
