The Amazing Athiest Agreed. They should add a penalty for both items (BB and Conch) which makes you get less health from medics and dispensers. (If you can heal all your damage yourself, who needs a medic?)
I mean conch has ramp up healing which means if you keep shooting him he's gonna die eventually and for blackbox I agree with less healing from meds and dispensers

@@solforecast2101 stun mechanics are way worse than knockbacks, overwatch is the best example; and blackbox should work even better with conch because its also way more health regen than before, why would you take damage resistance when you can heal all that damage back with 2-3 rockets

@@matic4175 You right. But the reserve shooter is ded now. Even though i never used it, it is still saddening. Ik it deserved a nerf but they literally killed it
I'd love to see a melee that is "Prevents knockback and movement inhibitors, but -75% Damage" Would make for an interesting alternative. Especally for Heavy, who then beats Pyros all the time, and has a better shot against Scouts and Demoman.
I was thinking while active, but if it's only for the Heavy, could be passive -- would be very interesting, and probably used as a 2nd spawn in Highlander, as on first roll-out you'd want GRU or Fists of Steel. In pubs it might be a bit strong though, but then again, with the power that the mobility GRU brings, it'd be nice. Especially if it has -10% movement speed.
Adding on to this since I cant edit on Mobile. Degreaser/Reverse combo is strong, but on the servers I play in, you could still get shut down fast, even with a pocket med. It could just be my area only, but it always fells like the other team will focus you down if you use this set.

Yeah it's been years, but I dunno how the definition of crutch was so hard for people to grasp. It was never a synonym for "overpowered" or "annoying". It's all in the name: a crutch makes things easier for you when you're bad, but harder when you're good. Much like a real world crutch does for someone who's trying to walk.
That outro song man... i remember when i was going through some deep shit and i used to watch your videos all the time and love that song when the video ended.
What a throwback. I only used this set as an anti pryo loadout. When I see a pyro on the other team thats better than me and causing my team Havoc. I used to whip out the degressar reserve shooter all the time.
I misread the title and I thought he was gonna talk about loadouts you use when you get autobalanced and the payload is an inch away from the final point
Poor spies. It's such a cool mechanic and class concept but any class concept that nearly 100% relies on being unexpected is bound to suck because someone will want to play it.
While I understand everyone's concern for the degreaser, it's not the only weapon that airblast. Stock can do the same thing, and so can the Backburner (just a lot less). From what I've experienced, being able to reflect effectively and grab kills off of those reflects is a measure of skill, not an OP mechanic, like Market Gardening or Airshots. The only part of that set that makes it unfun is the reserve shooter. The pyro is a close range class, and if you're not a fan of the whole "puff-n'-sting" pyro, then your only other option is stock m1 pyro like the game originally had pyro be (airblast was not a thing in the beginnings of pyro). It's like walking into a heavy and complaining that you died to 3 50 damage bullets when the heavy tracks you. It's a basic game mechanic that some classes are better short range and others are better medium/long range. Now those long range classes have their short range moments and those short range classes have their long range moments. The degreaser just makes things more interesting. (If you're gonna comment, let's make this a civil discussion. I'm legit interested in the counter arguments)
+podgy713 I think the Machina encourages bodyshotting by increasing damage on fully charged bodyshots to take down even slightly hurt Demos and Pyros. The addition of penetration kills is just too much considering it only requires waiting patiently until fully charged and then blindly bodyshotting the combo in hopes of a collateral. The absence of no-scoping is hardly an issue for Sniper considering that a Sniper should be as far away from direct combat as necessary to maximize on long range advantage and Sniper's close quarters combat disadvantage. Tracer rounds are the only *real* down side to the Machina which against any players above pub level should be able to call out a sniper.
+23randomuser I was asking for a discussion on the degreaser, but if we're gonna have a Machina discussion, that's fine too. 1. It does not encourage bodyshots. I could do the exact same thing with the Stock Rifle and I can get pretty much the same results. I can and have done this, my damage output and frags are similar every time. 2. Collaterals are a rare thing. They don't come from blindly shooting into a crowd, they come from understanding the map, enemy positioning, and the situation at hand. Anyone who plays with the gun knows this. Your opinion on the matter leads me to believe that you have not spent a decent amount of time with the gun outside of a Valve pub. 3. The ideal situation for the sniper is, in fact, long range situations. However, that doesn't mean that close range things happen. Watch comp snipers play. It doesn't matter where they are, they're gonna go for the shot. The lack of hipshots really makes it difficult to fight at close range. It makes sniping in 6's a little more bearable that the Machina is banned since then I'm forced to run Stock, and then I can run Cozy Camper. 4. You are correct, the tracer is obnoxious. Not only does it call your position, but there is a psychological effect on the user, where even if the tracer hits the enemy, it does not guarantee a hit because the bullet and the tracer are two separate entities. Frequent and successful users of the Machina have gotten past this and are able to use it effectively. It is, at best, a Side-grade, which is not a bad thing. There are plenty of side-grades in this game.
+podgy713 I think the thing that makes degreaser worse is it's stats in general. Weapon switch speed is an incredibly important aspect in any kind of fight in tf2 and just that 1-2 seconds of regular switch time can be the difference between an opponent escaping your airblast-secondary weapon combos or some scout jumping back in your face to kill you in that time frame. With degreaser ,this time frame is basically eliminated allowing you to not only maximize your dps dishing out damage quicker, hence making your fights last shorter, hence making you better at surviving because there's a smaller opportunity for someone else coming and picking you off while you're fighting with someone else because you've basically killed the 1st guy already. When you have the degreaser, you're essentially carrying one weapon that can flame, airblast, flare/shotgun, and melee at the same time, similiar to something like Crysis but in multiplayer and not everyone possesses it. Another argument leans on it being a "crutch". Pyro has 3 different weapons that, depending on your loadout, serve different purposes. It's up to you as the player to make the right call to switch for the right weapon for the right situation in advance, and you get better at this as your game sense improves with something like stock. With degreaser, due to the switch speed, this is not a necessary skill, as you can walk into a long sightline with your degreaser out either to ward off close range classes from picking you off or because you're not very good with your gamesense and cant figure out that it's a good place to whip your flare gun out, and in a split second, flare someone across the map and go back to your flamethrower, where otherwise you wouldve been much more vulnerable to being flanked depending on how long you spent on lining up your shots. I personally find it much more interesting to fight non-degreaser pyros as the delay in switch speed combined with their semi-necessity for combos depending on playstyle gives me these constant opportunities where the pyro is absent with his arsenal of damage potential that I can take advantage of to do something he doesnt want me to, whilst he challenges himself to compensate for his slower switch speed by outplaying me in a fight.
+control88able You make a lot of fair points, but even with a stock switch speed, people get angry at the pyro. If he runs stock, he still gets to airblast, plus his fire does more damage. yeah, the switch speed isn't relatively instantaneous, but you can still get the job done. If the pyro runs the phlog in combination with the scorch shot (or detonator, but imo it doesn't work as well), then people will just get angry at the phlog/scorch shot combo. Lately, I've incorporated my 6's pyro offclass loadout (degreaster/scorch shot/axtinguisher) into HL. I've found that being annoying with the scorch shot does far more than the usual puff n' sting methods. I could probably do this same strategy with the stock so long as I'm not as overly aggressive due to the weapon switch speed. I guess what I'm trying to say is, no one is ever going to be happy with how the pyro is played in this game, so as long as the pyro isn't using something completely broken like the reserve shooter, it shouldn't matter what he does in general. I'm actually curious to see just how different my dps/dpm would be if I go stock flame thrower
Degreaser is the only way pyro is a viable class in a competative setting. His flamethrowers do so little damage with so little range that he needs secondaries to be his primary damage. The reserve shooter I agree with. It's a crutch weapon that rewards you for doing almost nothing. The other sets I don't find to be much a problem, but whatever.
+BattleRedTexan to be onest, backburner sucks. you waste so much ammo airblasting that it is not worth the crits that you don't even usually get, becouse valve doesn't really know where back is
Honestly surprised there was no Loose Cannon+Targe+Eyelander. Always fun fighting obnoxious ball spam that knocks you around everywhere while the enemy is basically invincible to everyone except Heavies (even then...) and Scouts kind of. Then to top it off they move at near-Scout speed with 200 health and mindlessly walk at Soldiers and Demos with a 10 foot long sword for free stat buffs. Also the Beggars. Fuck the shithead tryhards that have a hales own one and destroy anything in 1 clip before anyone can even react to it.
+AeroSix I hate using this account but... There's a difference. Nate has demonstrated a level of skill in Beggar's use, which would be excellent rocket jumping. However, that's more often than not excessive considering the other end of the Beggar's skill level is seen way more. Spamming 3 clip rocket barrages around corners where no one could react or mashing left click because the time to load another rocket is damn near identical to the rocket launcher's fire rate, giving it an effective clip of 20. Which sucks.
Beggars bazooka takes skill, overloa, walljumps ,other stuf..Also it has less ammo.Loose cannon oes 60 ,while stock oes an hunre .Ouble onks arent easy. They shoulnt be banee
wait wouldnt the vanilla scattergun also 2 shot anyone with crit a cola i man the force of nature dosen't do much more dmg then the vanilla and does less from farther away
+Elliot Johns The stock just kills anything in 2 shots. But I refuse to use the FaN because of the One-shot knockback blast that comes out of that thing. I always thought it was op, but people say it's ''Balanced''. Yeah, it's not like the extra bullet per shot cancels the -10 damage penalty or anything. Edit: I don't think the stock scatter is op, because of the scouts actually getting close to deal damage. Rather than getting crossmapped by FaN scouts. (That's what it feels like at least)
lmfao the FaN is crap. The only way it does remotely more damage is when you are right infront of the enemies face and you aren't a fucking spy. Everything else about it is inferior
Black Box (aka the Bad Bocks) with the Battalions is also equally as annoying as the Black Box with the Conch since you basically become a personal health dispenser that only you can access.

I found that if you use the holy mackerel on a spy with the dead ringer, they will fall down dead but it will only say you hit them once and did not kill them, so it is a good way to kind of combat the dead ringer
It's boring to die... you have to wait to respawn and then do nothing while you walk back to the battlefield half-aware... The fact that someone can do that to you and you can do nothing about it is very off-putting.
3 years late, but if that's your problem then you should just find another game to play honestly dying in very infuriating ways is a very key part of tf2

you forgot the sticky spam man. either the bootlegger or a grenade launcher of any type (It doest matter which since they never use it) and the default stickybomb launcher. The default stickybomb is probably the biggest crutch weapon in the game. It does absurd damage and is super easy to hit people with compared to the grenade launcher. I feel they should either lower the firing speed or the arm time
+๖ۣPurple Cherry What? How is he a troll? The sticky launcher is so op. And valve can't nerf it, because the whiny little sticky spammers need it to be "good at the game" and they just send hate mail to valve to change it back.
+๖ۣPurple Cherry You're not really supposed to use the stock sticky launcher the way some people use it (hint hint use it instead of your primary), you're supposed to make sticky traps. Quickie launcher is what people are supposed to use when doing that whole sticky launcher primary replacement thing.
The sticky launcher has arm time, arc, less damage on instant det then the rocket launcher, and a low radius. The rocket launcher has no arc, no arm time, and 80-100 damage if you shoot someone at the feet. Don't be mad because you can dodge something that has an arm time when you play scout
Eh the whole knockback arguement with pyro is somewhat nullified imo. Literally almost every pyro primary has air blast capability and if we dont use it we are just called w+m1. But using the air blast is knockback which "isn't fun to play against" no matter what the pyro mains will always get shit and I dont even use that loadout. Sure it's way easier to get an enemy in the air as pyro but using the something like the flare gun at least requires some level of competence.
You have to remember, this was a very different era of TF2. Pyro’s airblast worked very differently at the time, since it didn’t really take into account how the enemy player was moving before and during the airblast. As such, it forced the enemy into the exact same predictable arc every time, basically being a stun that was really brain-dead and easy to follow up on. Nowadays, airblast actually requires you to read where your target is going and lead your followup to compensate.
About dead ringer: There's no risk or consequence for spy checking. Just shoot at your teammates or warm em up as pyro.. and if you feel a hit or your "ally" is lit on fire, it's a spy.
In the next episode: ~ The Air Strike in general ~ The Beggar's Bazooka in general ~ The Direct Hit being able to shut down most classes or one-shot them ~ The Scotsman's Skullcuter with its random crits ~ The Diamondback being an upgrade to practically all revolvers
+The Predecessor The DH has damage falloff. If you really want up into the face of a soldier, you deserve to get hit for 139. It's not like the Loch n' Load that does 100 damage from anywhere with a super speed projectile
+The Predecessor The airstrike is a joke, everyone just thinks that if Muselk says something's OP, then it's OP. Now all I see are braindead soldiers who don't know how to rocket jump trying to use the airstrike and getting destroyed. They're the easiest airshots while they're floating, they take a ton of damage from their rocketjump, and they don't do much damage. Not to mention, it's only really good against a few classes, if you come across another soldier, you're going to lose, and that's assuming you're always outdoors where you can rocketjump at will. Also, as a spy main, and from hearing the opinions on other great spies, the diamondback is far from the best revolver. The amby is easily the most useful with its ability to intimidate enemies and provide long range support, the letrange probably being second best for it's synergy with certain loadouts. The DB is still a great weapon, but in practice it's not as useful as some of the other revolvers.
Fizzy Ego If you're serious, well it's because it has 50% more bullets in each shell. So while it has 20% less damage you still have more bullets for more close range damage. It just means that you can't be at long or even midrange otherwise you will do less damage. But if you're up close they're fucking dead. If you aren't I just got baited. GG
Random razorback sniper: *completely oblivious and running to base* Me, an undisguised mostly stock but also YER spy: *starts shooting him and 3-shots* You may have outsmarted me, but I have outsmarted your outsmarting!
it could one shot like almost half the classes. No other explosive weapon can do that with a single projectile asides from the direct hit, and the demo's already far far stronger than soldier since the point of the direct hit is that you cant spam it in chokes for chip damage and its not that dangerous from a distance as a result. Demo has his stickies meaning that ENTIRE thing that balances the direct his just isnt there for the loch. It was a better direct hit on a class thats flat out stronger than the class WITH the direct hit.
+Nightlauncher You haven't played against enough crutch loadouts then. Valve did a pretty good job at balancing most of them in the gun mettle update, but some are still broken. Try playing against a team of mini sentry engis on KOTH, it's not fun.

Are those stats just for when it's active or a passive thing?
+gege029 i feel like that should be a "while active" set of stats like the powerjack or the GRU
I never found the Black Box to be a strong weapon, it's just mediocre. Then again, I main with LL and conch.

What a throwback. I only used this set as an anti pryo loadout. When I see a pyro on the other team thats better than me and causing my team Havoc. I used to whip out the degressar reserve shooter all the time.
I would really like to know where that clip of the dancing old man is from. It is magnificent.
*pyro* «None of these weapons are fair or fun to fight» Oh you mean the entirety of pyro as a class?
s t o c k a i r b l a s t s
Are very easy
For the most part, pyro's load-outs and mechanics just seem to reward players for lobotomizing themselves and charging with W+M1.
The gray in the field
A w+m1 pyro is a free kill. Pyros that can air blast are terrifying.
My new favorite quote: "Blow my doodle horn."
+23randomuser u mean the classic and the Sydney sleeper
The other sets I don't find to be much a problem, but whatever.
yep
Backburner + Scorch Shot + Back Scratcher best loadout.
BattleRedTexan I don't think so
+BattleRedTexan to be onest, backburner sucks. you waste so much ammo airblasting that it is not worth the crits that you don't even usually get, becouse valve doesn't really know where back is

Hehe ,ı love beggars bazooka -got a server clearing one, also loose cannon is my favourite.

+Colby Miller the FaN isn't actually OP if the FaN scout gets caught reloading an empty clip which gives you enough time to kill the scout
Colby Miller the scattergun is more effective at long-range because of its bullet spread

Nowadays, airblast actually requires you to read where your target is going and lead your followup to compensate.

oh my god my fantasy of a triple gangbang from me funke and podgy is coming into reality
Kyle Rockwell I'm friends with the guy :P
podgy713 even better!
The DB is still a great weapon, but in practice it's not as useful as some of the other revolvers.

it could one shot like almost half the classes.
