Just found this video and I love it. It lets me see something similar to what my dad saw and heard. Always loved the sound of that car. My dad, Nat Thompson, raced AMX-1 (no. 31 of the SS/AMX's). I was just a kid when he raced primarily at Suffolk Raceway in VA. He was racing SS/D at the time. He once told me that he launched and shifted at 8K. For the shifts, he would push the clutch pedal and let his foot slip off the pedal about halfway down. He was a good man and a gentleman racer.
