  • Join us at Keystone Raceway Park for the richest motorcycle drag race in the track’s history as dozens of stretched, nitrous Hayabusa, GSXR 1000, ZX-14r, and even ONE Harley Chopper showed up to race for the big money. We pick this up as we are down to just 7 motorcycles and it’s a Harkey chopper vs sportbike as Ken Koby tries to pull off a Harley chopper underdog ride that would make Rocky IV seem mild. From the Harley Chopper loud sounds, to the burnouts, wheelies and top speed we see it all at Hogs Gone Wild Pittsburgh. We will catch up with our victor in the winner’s circle to see how he did. Please be sure to share with any Harley Chopper fan!

    Yeah, I don't understand why they race side by side. Why not just do 4 runs each see who is more consistent and give them the win. You could literally win on a moped, don't have to worry about wheel spin hurting your time then.

  • @timsretirementjourney8323
    @timsretirementjourney8323 3 роки тому +4

    I've got to ask. Why wouldn't a person just pick up a $25.00 moped off Craigslist and take a 35 second head start. He'd be just as likely to win as the guy on the chopper was. Is bracket really considered racing? I understand the concept, but never liked it.

    • @cycledrag
      @cycledrag  3 роки тому +1

      Tim's Retirement Journey guys have tried on mini bikes. It’s a lot harder than it looks. The longer the run the more chances for mistakes. An 8 second bike can run you down quickly

      @@cycledrag I love watching your videos, and I used to be involved in bracket racing myself about 40 years ago (with my '68 Camaro SS) but all you're actually doing is running against yourself and the time you dialed in at.
      More often than not the person with the vehicle that has a ton of money into it will lose to the person with a bone stock machine that's far less valuable because of getting anxious and red lighting.
      I'm surprised bracket racing has survived to be honest. The guy with the Busa would have been just as likely to lose if a woman in a stock 68 Chevelle with a 6 cylinder and a powerglide was in the other lane.
      Somehow that isn't fair to the person with the fast machine. ;)

      its called Bracket racing is a form of drag racing that allows for a handicap between predicted elapsed time of the two cars over a standard distance. Both drivers place the times they think they can run before the pass. the tree offsets the start times so both cars/bikes will cross the line at the same time if they both hit the exact dial-in they submitted but reaction time and consistency of the car/bike factor in the times/outcome of the pass. a lot of these races are won or lost by .05sec or less
      The effect of the bracket racing rules is to place a premium on consistency of performance of the driver and car rather than on raw speed, which in turn makes victory much less dependent on large infusions of money, and more dependent on mechanical and driving skill, such as reaction times, shifting abilities, and ability to control the car. Therefore, bracket racing (using the aforementioned handicapping system) is popular with casual weekend racers. Some will even drive their vehicles to the track, race them, and then simply drive them home.
      This format allows for a wide variety of cars racing against each other. While traditional drag racing separates cars into a wide variety of classes based on power and weight, bracket racing classes can be simpler, and can accommodate any vehicle with basic technical/safety inspection.

      Its called bracket racing. You post your estimated et. And try to run as close to your et as youbcan without going faster. The lights go green at whatever index split there is between the two dial in times so that if both riders caught a dead zero light and hit their et perfectly it should be a dead even race weather both vehicles are the same speed or not. It shows who is more consistent, and can cut lights more than who has a faster whatever.

    Bracket racing SUCKS!!!! That Chopper would never beat a sportbike in a heads-up drag race I'm not even 600's not to mention open class sport bikes!!!! And even then it took a red light by the Hayabusa for the Chopper to win.

    In bracket... it doesn't matter how much flash, doesn't matter how fast. The ONLY things that matter are reaction time and consistency. A buddy has a 12 foot wall in his family room covered floor to ceiling with trophies, and he has started down the other wall. The prize money he wins pays for a lot of family vacations. His car??? A 1967 Nova SS... with a bone stock 6 banger and a slip and slide powerglide. Just leaves it in drive, doesn't power brake it, and doesn't even peep the tires off the line. He turns a mid-21 second 1/4 mile. BUT... he turns that mid-21 second run within 5 hundredth of a second of his dial-in every run. And, in many cases, the other car red lights because my buddy is halfway down the track before the other one gets the green. Everybody in the stands laugh when he has his first run. Nobody's laughing when he walks away with the trophy and prize money. Oh and... he drives it to and from the strip with his wife and two kids. Who says you can't have fun and win spending just a little money. He runs five states and, when he shows up, all the bracket racers get real nervous. They know he is the one to beat!!!

    Guess I just don’t understand the point of giving the other guy lengths or a head start. Everything should be run straight up and whoever is fastest is fastest. CLEARLY anyone coming into this video knew that there is no way in hell that chopper could keep up, let alone win fairly.

  • @robtob5150

    I guess I don't understand how this kind of racing works but I don't really care. If the chopper has to have a 3-second head start that's not racing.

    It is easy to bracket race and win with a slow vehicle. I mean lets think about it. It isn't gunna spin off the tire outta the hole. And its maxed out by the end of the quarter. Unless he wrecks that glorified scooter who cares that he can bracket race a 12 second bike. My ex500 ran 11s he just has a 50k$ pos! Imo

  • @tommyguzan3951

    For all you guys that say this is not impressive obviously you have no idea what goes into bracket racing, the chopper has no racing electronics on it, most everyone in the field has, air shifters, shift light, auto shift, fuel tech, max ecu, slider clutch, and ken has none of that on the chopper, he went through a field of 50 bikes or more, and earned a bye run at one point cause of his reaction time on the tree, not only did he win this event but he won manufacturers cup last month against the same kind of bikes, so long story short come on out with us and prove you can win a bracket race on whatever you want to bring since it’s so easy to do!!!
