Thank you!! I thought I was losing my mind. People are being SO intense towards them it's been blowing my mind.

Dude the intensity of the backlash against DWKT was ridiculous and I feel like the situation’s turned where Josh is being sanctified at the cost of DWKT being vilified. REAL curious how the narrative will turn when Swoop’s interview drops.

RIGHT?! the Josh doc hasn’t even dropped yet! Why don’t we wait for that before pretending hes an untouchable saint 😭

9:50 I just think the criticism is about the “I’m sorry but” apology

Normally, I would agree, but in this specific scenario, I think there’s more nuance than just them being wrong because even though Johnny lied, Joshua still did a lot of toxic things.

I can’t believe how extreme people are getting, Jessi and Lily are the kindest people and they addressed this. The actions of Johnny are his own, he created the situation, people are acting like they’re just as bad by association. It’s a little far.

Their apology was them justifying themselves. If they just would have admitted that they didn’t like Josh and treated him badly, then I don’t think people would have rallied so hard. They judged him harshly because they wanted to. The eye rolls were insufferable.

@@thatelmoguy1911 They made a public statement going through each thing published on their platform, discrediting Johnny.
They offered their platform to Joshua directly and he declined, it’s understandable for Josh to be angry but he should direct his anger at Johnny.
Jessi and Lily really didn’t see any red flags because it was an early public interview in the discourse (as the red flags came out it took Swoop a documentarian over a week to come to the conclusion Johnny was self inserting into the “drama”).

@@alishac5096 I think you’re ignoring what they did. They weaponized Josh’s apology to justify why they were terrible to him. They did misunderstand his apology. Admission of guilt? Apologizing is not always that. They should have recognized it was to validate Johnny. And they completely misunderstood that the apology was for the phone number, the mentoring, the ignoring. Nothing grooming related. But they used his sorry as a way to dismiss him. They didn’t offer Josh a platform at first. Sorry we let our bias towards you dictate how we shared this story. That’s it.

Thank you!!!! You are always a voice of reason I s2g. You need more subs because more people need to hear what you have to say! Everyone is looking at this with so much hindsight, like even swoop didn't know. Swoop needed 6 hour interviews and a team of people to figure this out. It's so unfair. And then to saint Josh like this is insane. He's not clean in this at all!

The only DWKT apology criticism I really understand is people questioning Jessi saying that victims don’t always have proof but they didn’t hear Josh out because he didn’t show them proof. I understand why they did what they did though, and I think they will make more mindful choices in the future. I definitely don’t hold interviewing Johnny against them because ultimately that gave Swoop more lies to expose.

i find it weird how Joshua only addressed DWKT for platforming John and not H3H3? I respect Jessi and Lily for defending their stance in detail. Yea they made bunch of mistakes, at the same time they didn't let people bully them into completely changing their stance, kinda? Swoop's video made a lot of people think Joshua is a poor misunderstood innocent guy when he's ... not exactly?

If you're a victim of the sort of things you more often than not you won't have evidence, and I somewhat agree with what they said. But in the same breath expected Joshua to provide evidence of his innocence before lending him a voice on their show, but let Johnny speak without providing any. I think they well deservedly got critizied for this horrible double standard.

    • @EricaMones

Yes, but there is evidence of Joshua doing harmful things.

I didn’t realize that holding people accountable for the things that they have said while contradicting themselves and rightfully criticizing them is “backlash” it is appalling how when a male victim comes forward, Josh, people are acting like men can’t be victims. Lily rolled her eyes, scoffed at Josh wanting to talk to Jessi and Lily about their response to him, but he is the bad guy apparently. This is all hypocritical and annoying. They deserved the criticism that they got especially when someone like Jessi had an issue with Gabbi wanting to speak to her abuser and when it came to Josh who is a victim of Colleen she scoffs at him and literally laughs. How is that OK? How is that not exempt from criticism? It’s ridiculous.

Josh can be a victim and perpetrator simultaneously, which given his history of lurking in group chats with minors, seems to be most likely.
