- A UA-camr who goes by Timmy2Cents made a video claiming Sue Klebold, mother of Columbine perpetrator Dylan Klebold, had the worst TEDTalk. He alleges that Sue is a narcissist and ultimately blames her for her son's actions. While I do not agree with Sue Klebold in many ways, Timmy's assertions are ridiculous.

Thank you for this. Timmy's video was such a bad faith interpretation of her Ted Talk and I remember finding it really frustrating, so it's nice to someone being fair about it.

People acting like having your son become a mass murder is something easy to live with.
The year was 1999. At that time school shooting wasn't a thing (actually it became a thing after columbine). So I don't think they could imagine that something like THAT was gonna hapen.
Yes. Sue made some mistakes as a parent but every parent make some mistake raising their son. They're human too you know.
Edit: If you do something horrible, it wasn't your mother who did it, it was YOU. Dosen't matter if you're under 20.

There were school shootings before but not to the extent of Columbine and of course the shooting at Columbine did influence a lot of other shootings.
I couldn't stand listening to any more of the lies he said, so I stopped. If he watched it enough to take clips from it, how did he miss her admitting she (obviously) messed up? It's unconscionable. What a jerk.

He's lying, this is not lazy research or misrepresenting facts, that bum slanders Sue Kleybold with lies, go watch "this youtube is lying about Sue Kleybold" by Miordy.
All the comments are people saying "I can't believe I was bamboozled by Timmy2cents", he lays out the facts and exposes this bum with evidence, and it's disgusting that he purposely lies and trashes a victim.
Timmy is exactly what he claims Sue to be, he's a narcissist who's completely reckless and irresponsible, he doesn't have a single care for the truth, he creates this malignant hit piece with a bunch of bunt lies.

Totally agree with you. Your argument is much more logical and well-reasoned than his, if not as theatrical. Would T2¢ prefer Sue Klebold said nothing, withdrew entirely? I think it took some courage to speak of the murders, no matter how imperfectly.
i am putting this disclaimer that i haven't finished the video yet, but i have something i wanted to say.
yes, timmy did have a pretty bad title, this ted talk was probably not the worst. i haven't watched all of the ted talks to ever take place so i couldn't name you a worse one off the top of my head. HOWEVER, i just think it is really gross to come at this from an angle of 'how could she know'. there were many warning signs, on top of the statements Randy Brown, Brooks Brown's father, had made around that time. I'm not going to say that she holds the sole responsibility, because the school and the police all dropped the ball as well, but saying she had no idea is frankly delusional.
Not only did she not do anything to keep him from hanging out with Eric, which she not only knew about, but also was told by Dylan at one point that "Eric is crazy", but there were the run-ins with police and school officials where Sue has described being more upset at the school's 'unjust treatment' of Dylan than at Dylan for his act. On top of that, the fact that Randy Brown not only filed police reports about Eric's website and about the things Eric and Dylan described, but also his wife Judy? i believe her name is was a friend of Sue and told her about what Eric and Dylan were getting up to.
Again, I don't place all of the blame on Sue, as there were many people who dropped the ball massively. However, following her line of thinking of "it could happen to anyone" is silly when you get the context of her specific case.

I disagree. Firstly, Sue did take responsibility. In the TED talk and other interviews she talks about how she thinks she failed Dylan as a mother. Jimmy uses clips from the TED talk yet doesn't show the parts where she takes accountability which you can't even argue to be poor journalism. Secondly, yes there were signs, but concluding that Dylan would shoot up his school from the signs would be a big leap. When Timmy refers to the "mountain of evidence" he is likely referring to the notebooks and recordings they made of their plans which Sue did not have access to since they were in Dylan's possession. Sue also did not know of the website Dylan and Eric had made as Judy Brown hadn't actually informed Sue of these websites until after the shooting. Also Sue had tried to prevent Dylan from hanging out with Eric as she had forbid Dylan from hanging out with Eric after one their runings with the law. However, preventing your child from hanging out with one of their friends is notoriously difficult especially if they go to the same school. Timmy's video is just full of misinformation like miss attributing quotes to Sue, straight up lying (like saying that there hasn't been a school shooting involving multiple people since columbine when there have been like the shooting at the Stem high school in Colorado) and just bad journalism like bringing up a review on the TED talk rather than going through the TED talk and debunking each point.
Sounds to me like you're not at all familiar with what happened, and have decided to believe Timmy without question. There is no evidence that Sue could have reasonably known her son did what he did. The arguments Timmy made are outright falsehoods.
My question to this line of thinking is: What exactly do you think she should have done? Lock him in the basement? Send him to live across the country? I mean really what do you expect her to have done? The cops already knew about Eric's website, why didn't they do more to stop this? Sue already admits that she wishes she could have been a better mother and nurtured her son better, but I'd be willing to bet at least a third of parents feel this way in one way or another. So serious question to you, what would you have done in her place? I'm not trying to fight or put you down, but I genuinely want to know what you think should have been done. I won't even respond if you don't want me to.
He's not wrong. Using her position as a victim doesn't mean she can get away with lying. She had the chances to stop it or look into it. She avoided any responsibility and made herself look like a narcissist, as he claims. I don't want to assume the worst here, but her speech isn't very honorable or decent. I understand you though and appreciate your opinions✌️
He takes a lot of what Sue says out of context. That is the problem with his video. He can have his opinions about her, but he is also profiting off the tragedy no matter how you feel about his video.
It's a vile hit piece, Timmy is a liar, it's not lazy research or misrepresent the facts, he's purposely misleading and lying to his audience, Timmy should be ashamed of himself, he should take that video down and apologize to his audience, I've never seen such a dishonest hit piece in my life.
